"And I want to finish the master suite today," she finished.
"Why can't I see it?"
"I told you it's a surprise."
Tristan breathed a sigh. "I'd better get back to work then."
Everything was ready. Meg grinned at the things she'd added to the room. It had been emptied and new furniture found, for she wanted no trace of Lydia left there. Right now, it was unrecognizable as the former master suite. Overhead, red fabric tented the ceiling and draped from its center to be caught at the corners of .the room only to flow against the walls to the floor. On the floor were scattered rugs and large colorful cushions. A low table was set amid the cushions and their dinner sat covered with domed lids. A knock sounded at the door, and Meg turned nervously. She called out in a trembling voice, "Come in."
Tristan's eyes widened with shock as. he took in the gaudily decorated room. But a smile curved his lips as his gaze finally settled on his wife, standing barefoot at its center.
She was dressed as he'd first seen her. Heavy gold jewelry hung from her ears and around her neck. Bangle bracelets clinked on her wrists. A red blouse slid, exposing one bare shoulder, and a full yellow skin allowed him to glimpse her ankles. A green scarf wrapped around her waist, another over her wildly curling black hair. God, but she was magnificent.
"If you're here to have your fortune read, I must warn you now, the price is high."
Tristan, held by a pair of dark flashing eyes, could only whisper, "How much?"
"You must be sure," she warned as she moved toward him.
"I'm sure. How much?"
"Your heart. My price is your heart."
"Done. It's yours."
"Then come in sir and sit. Dis Gypsy vill tell you all you vant to know."
"One request?"
Meg smiled as she took his hand, guiding him to recline upon a cushion. She took off his boots and jacket, and was opening the buttons of his shirt before she replied, "Ask and it's done."
"Dance for me, Gypsy." His voice was low and husky, exactly as she'd heard the words that first time.
Meg shrugged. "But there is no music."
"There's music," he said as his warm gaze moved over her lovely form. "From the first there's been music between us."
She danced for him, and this time only his eyes saw the beauty of her seductive movements and the music went on well into the night.
