Shooting Stars Don't Say Goodbye

The movie would be long, had a little over two hours, if I’m not wrong. This, of course, had everything to let him tired. After all, many scenes, many people being saved, many different characters giving the air of grace. Mat spoke with emotion, made me anxious for what happened afterwards.

  - He is at the sea, on a ship. The captain doesn’t seem to put much faith in him, and next there is a platform on fire with people in danger.

That was one of the most exciting scenes early in the film. He spoke in a calm voice, but very attractive. My God, how could Mat make a narration be attractive! I was excited, enjoying every moment.

The film continued in an exciting way, showing a pilgrim Clark, who was going through different parts of the world saving people everywhere he went. Soon I realized this was a way to show what happened before he became a photographer at the Daily Planet, having his famous romance with college Lois Lane, and become the icon that the world knows as one of the greatest super-heroes of the planet.

The movie was good, really good. And in my long journey in the middle of blindness I could tell that this was being the most exciting I have ever seen. Not only by the scenes and the context of the narrative, or the sultry voice of Henry Cavill and his excellent interpretation of the new man of steel, but also by the touch of emotion that Mat was giving in each scene, in every scene. And he never got tired, never gasped, didn’t demonstrated to be with a dry mouth.

Some scenes later Mat described Lois Lane. A smart, dedicated and very smart journalist. She didn’t have that profile of fragile lady in danger that we are used to seeing in movies. This was a profile, by the way, I didn’t like. This thing of defenseless girl, who is in danger all the time and making only slow the superhero action never made much my type. I think somehow I was identifying myself with what Matt described. That girl who went after what she wanted, who didn’t accept to have a supporting role in his life story, she wanted to be part of the story and offer her face to be slapped in order to realize and pursue her dreams. That was a bit myself. I was Lois Lane in real life, and Mat was being my Superman. To many it may seem a crazy comparison, but for me it made sense. I, like Lois, didn’t accept to live under the shadow of anyone, living the lives of others. I wanted to build my story, and like her, I knew the right time to give up something that was actually worthwhile. The journalist, who was now being my darling, gave up go deeper in her research about who was the real Superman soon after knowing him better and understand that doing this revelation could harm him. He lost his father in a tornado when he could have saved him just to keep this secret, at the request of his own father. To keep this secret he didn’t reveal it in the middle of all those people who were in the same situation, and now she couldn’t expose this family history to earn just a matter that would be the cover of the special edition of the Daily Planet.

The friendly relationship that happened between the characters was beautiful. I really enjoyed every dialogue that happened between them, although there wasn’t many. And what is that voice of Henry Cavill? He truly embodied the spirit of the man of steel. Mat commented loose in my ear.

  - Snyder really knew how to choose the best actor for the role.

The Snyder guy he meant was Zack Snyder, director of the film who also had worked on other great films of cinema as 300, which had cast one of the best Brazilian actors of Hollywood cinema, Rodrigo Santoro; Gerard Butler, impressive in the role of King Leonidas I. In the direction of Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead. This last one I didn’t want to know, I’m scared of horror movies, those dying voices always spend too much time in my head and end up leaving me a little upset, until I watch a good comedy, and can forget that horror.

It was good to watch with Mat because he was so cinephile as I am, which means he had one more thing in common with my father, who also loved any kind of movie. He always brought something new about the movie or about any of the characters.

  - They say that Cavil is being tipped to be the protagonist of the film adaptation of the erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" - whispered Mat on my ear.

I would never agree to watch this film in the company of Matt. The novel dealt with the life of a virgin girl, like me, who fell in love with a multibillionaire that had some small problems, if we can call it that. Anastasia Steele fell in love with the mysterious way of Cristian Gray, who was one of the toughest dominators. Beautiful, clever, rich and seductive. An erotic romance with plenty of sex scenes. I didn’t actually read the book, because I didn’t find the Braille version, but from hearing people comments I sought an audio version on the internet and still managed to reach more than half of the book and thought it was best not to continue, it was not a very nice language for a virgin looking for love.

From what I was learning from Cavill, I began to imagine that he would be a great option to interpret Cristian Gray, although I can’t deny that it was impossible not to remember Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder, who had extremely sexy voices.

Back to the film, Mat faithfully narrated the moment the villains from Krypton decide to take Lois to the ship along with Superman. From there the movie was 100% action, because the girl who was not so helpless, begin to play an important role in helping to save the hero’s skin who was not accustomed to breathe a different air of ours which would eventually weaken him.

It took me a bit to understand how Jor-El, which was interpreted by the talented Russell Crowe, was appearing much if he had died when his Planet was destroyed early in the film. He had already arisen in the icy lands, when Clark entered a different key in a lost spaceship in the cold universe that I didn’t care to know if it was the North Pole or South Pole, it was in that opening scene that he and Lois met. With all the patience in the world, and without any hint of tiredness, Mat explained that sightings of Jor-El was something like a three-dimensional image, a recording made in high technology in order to help his son, newly lost on planet earth, that had been activated when he inserted a key in the spaceship. Super intelligent ET’s stuff.

Sometimes it seemed that Matt was going to lose his breath because the fight scenes were very well crafted, with details like buildings being destroyed, Kryptonian firing with special weapons, the Man of Steel flying and hitting them with violence and agility. People running from one side to the other, cars exploding, buildings falling. He has not lost his breath at any time. It was a lot of emotion and adrenaline, and not resisting to my romantic side, because I have a romantic side, I was wondering if in the middle of all that adrenaline happen any kissing scene. It was easy to see how passionate Lois was by the hero, it would be impossible not to get involved with this man. And it was even more obvious to realize the interest of Clark for her, it was a kind of woman as passionate as I am, modesty aside.

Mat was thrilled during the action scenes, and spoke a little louder. When this happened, I listened to the "ssshhh" of people and felt the popcorn being thrown in our direction.

  - Shut up.

  - Stop the noise.

  - Watch it in silence, crazy guy.

But Mat didn’t care. He just lowered his voice a little further and approached my ear. I wondered if he hadn’t a pain in the neck for being so long tilted in my direction. Gradually went down a little, and leaned even lower on him, to help him to watch the movie better and still continue to make me descriptions.

A scene that moved me was the moment when Lois’ boss, I don’t remember the name, it is with other members of the newspaper trying to get away and suddenly one person is trapped in the rubble of a building that had just fallen. A magnetic force is sweeping everything in its path, and will kill them all at any moment. Even knowing that they wouldn’t be able to take her away from there in time they don’t give up and keep trying. It was a beautiful expression of friendship. Luckily Superman manages to destroy the ship that creates magnetic waves and they are freed from being destroyed.

The final battle between Jor-El and our hero was also impressive, for a moment I thought he would not win.

&nbs
p; - But the good always wins. - Mat said in my ear, after the city being completely destroyed and the good have triumphed - But you can’t win without destroying at least half of the planet, isn’t it? - He added laughing, having explained how was the planet after the destruction caused by Kryptonian.

Finally, it came the time when happened the long waited kiss between the most perfect couple in the cinema of recent times. Really. They were simply the best.

  - Now there is the climax of the film. - Mat said. I felt that he approached me even more, such as who also tries to kiss me.

  - They'll kiss now? - I asked.

  - Yes - He said, calmly describing the whole scene, the position of the actors, the way things were around and who was sighting away that moment. And his face moved closer to mine. I felt his lips inches from mine. - I wish I could kiss you too, but I promised I wouldn’t.

  - Truth - I said smiling - you promised, and I know you’ll stick to it.

I liked Mat, there was no denying. He passed the movie test. He didn’t get upset, didn’t complain, and didn’t lose his breath. Popcorn was over. The soda didn’t reach half of the movie. And yet, there he stood, firm and strong. He deserved a thank you, and leaving out all my prejudices, now knowing him how I knew, I knew it was bullshit, I kissed him.

I kissed him heartily. I put my hands on his neck and pulled him closer to me. I pressed my lips to his as he had predicted at the time he said he’d only kiss me when I decided to kiss him. I was in love with him. Totally in love. Mat won me over and I couldn’t escape. I took him to the movies in order to make him to quit, so he could feels like dating a blind girl is boring, even if we were not dating, but it happened the other way. He did it perfectly, had fun, joked, laughed and got me even more.

I wouldn’t run anymore, run away, fight against what I was feeling. My prejudices never took me anywhere. Only kept me frozen in time. I was not going to try to resist Mathew. He made me feel good, it was undeniable. He made me feel like a complete person. I even forgot that I couldn’t see. I wanted him for me, I wanted to be happy. I deserved that.

Our kiss lasted. A long time. He kissed me gently but with pressure. It seems contradictory, but it was just what happened. We were one during that kiss. I felt like we were Lois and Superman kissing, being seen by all those people. His hand went to my waist awkwardly in that seat, and grabbed me. He had the wild way and I liked that. I was starting a new life, a single moment, a phase that from that moment on would be magic.

I fell in love with Matt, so there was no place I could run away to.

  CHAPTER 9

I woke up with a happiness that washed over my entire body, making me shiver from head to toe. Something had happened to me and I was feeling full, complete, magically in love. All my senses were heightened even more, even more special. I felt perfect. I felt whole.

I arrived home at 5am and came across my mother sitting in the room waiting for me. No matter the age you have, your mother will always be waiting at home when you go on a date. For many mothers, the vast majority of them, the reason for the wait would be the preoccupation with time, saying the fact that the roads are dangerous, that her daughter is still a baby, or anything similar. In the case of my mother, her waiting was because of her morbid curiosity in wanting to know what had happened at the date.

  - Hey, darling? How was it? - She started addressing me yet on the doorstep, just after having Mat leaving me with a long hug and a lingering kiss.

There was no way my mom was so curious. Or rather, it was indeed possible. She had always been that way throughout my life, and wouldn’t be now when things would change.

  - I can’t believe it, mother. Interrogation at this time? - I spoke passing hands over my hair and grabbing it then with a huge smile – For you to sleep in peace… - I kept laughing and not denying my happiness - I am very happy and finally accepted dating Matt. Now we're a couple, mother. But can we talk better tomorrow? I’m exhausted.

She just laughed, hugged me and went to her room saying words "thank God" and "my daughter won’t be an old maid". I felt like a forty years old woman being criticized by the elderly aunt who insists on asking "and the little boyfriends?"

But I didn’t care. That night was magical. The movie was good, the company was great, and the night was exceptionally wonderful. Mat was spectacular, and what happened after the film was something that would make me have good memories for life.

The movie ended a little after 2 a.m. We went to the car and Mat decided to take me to a place at the top, to talk a bit. It was a mountain that gave a look of the entire city, completely illuminated, even at that time, and still with no one to disturb us. I felt that Matt was a good guy, but I realized he wanted something serious, much more serious than I thought. After 15 minutes driving, we arrived at the hill and parked it, telling me about all the lighting one could see from there.

  - How will it be? - He asked, smiling. – I don’t want to stay in this little game. I think I could prove that I really like you.

  - Yes, you did. - I simply said.

  - And then? I know we're already dating, even without your consent, and after what I saw today, with your hunky ex making conversation, I'm feeling insecure, afraid of losing you.

He always amazed me with his news, and I decided it was my turn to try to surprise him somehow, even if it seemed impossible.

  - Close your eyes. - I said, searching for his hands and holding tightly and lovingly while.

  - They’re closed. - He said with a naughty smile that I realized I was coming from the corner of his mouth.

  - Remember our first meeting at that park? - I said, trying to recap all that we live from the start.

  - Yes, I remember - he said, putting his other hand over my - you looked beautiful.

Surprisingly he remembered the clothes I was wearing, and even I don’t remember. He detailed my hair, how Adolfo was lying on my lap, the way the sun reflected on my face.

  - I liked your voice, and became interested in you. You know what I should have done that day, when you spoke to me?

  - What? Run away?

  - No. - I said, bracing myself to try to surprise him.

  - What?

I approached him quickly, putting my hands on his face and kissed him. I realized he was still with the eyes closed, and returned the kiss with love pulling me closer to him. It was a searing kiss, as we had never kissed before. Okay that it hadn’t been many kisses until then, but that was the best of all, and from what I was noticing the trend was that every kiss could be better than the previous.

I squeezed his neck, ran my hands over his neck, and kissed him even harder. It last long. It was good.

  - Just like that I answer the question that you had done before? - I said, figuring he'd remember that I was talking about.

  - What was the question again? - He asked with a somewhat quiet voice, but surprised with my kiss.

  - I agree, Mathew. I agree to be your girlfriend, officially, if that's what you want to know.

  - Are you serious? - He asked. - Do you really want to be with me?

  - I'm here, aren’t I? Do you think I would kiss you at the movies if I didn’t want something with you?

  - I'll make you the happiest girl in the world. I promise!

  - I know, you already gave me proofs of that. You already make me feel like this.

The events that followed were the kind that made me even more passionate for him. That boy not only knew how to kiss, but he knew much more than I imagined. He embraced me in a way I had never been embraced before, kissed me with desire, wanting, and as much as I didn’t want to seem like an easy girl or anything, I couldn’t resist to his touches. When we realized we were already laying on the back sit of the car, kissing, feeling his hands sliding down my back, his lips biting my ear, leaving me completely crazy.

  - If I knew you were so good I wouldn’t have wasted so much time. - I said, whispering on his ear.

He just laughed. That moment was goo
d, very good. It was perfect. No, it was more than perfect. He managed to let me even more in love, and I looked forward to that moment to be eternal.

  ***

When I came down from my room, I found Mat in the living room talking to my dad about the 3D effects of the movie. I had commented that his new father-in-law was a movie fan, and even more of those characters. He was all excited talking about how it seemed that the stones were coming towards his face, and that several times he moved his head scared and ended up hitting mine unintentionally. Everyone laughed at the way he spoke, and I laughed even more to know that he was there and that last night was not just a dream.

  - Good morning, princess! – He shouted from the room when he realized that I went down the stairs. - I thought you were going to sleep all afternoon.

  - We arrived late, remember? I had to take some use of the fact that today was Saturday to put up with my sleep.

  - I like to take my girlfriends to the movies just to kiss them in the little dark. - said Jason, once again pretending to be the ladies’ man. – Did you kiss too?

I was a little embarrassed by the question. This is not the kind of thing that you get ok to comment in front of your parents. I think I won the lottery to have such a discrete family in regards to me. If it wasn’t enough my mother and her morbid curiosity, I now had to endure the comments of my teenage brother.

  - Sure - Matt surprised me with a seemingly natural response, and a wide smile, I believe, the whole town must have heard. – Which couple in love doesn’t kiss at the movies? You should know that better than anyone, huh?

I think this was really my destiny. If it wasn’t enough the curious mother and the indiscreet brother, now I had a shameless boyfriend.

I avoided stopping in the room and took the way to the kitchen, where my mother was arranging something in the fridge. She made me a sandwich while I continued to hear Mat detailing all the parts of the movie, jumping, of course, the moment we kissed.
