Thankfully Aurelio seizes the opportunity to change the subject. “Son, will you hunt with us tonight?”
I guess he thinks if he asks, maybe David will change his mind.
“No, thank you father. I haven’t hunted since Jess and I started dating.”
“That’s quite admirable son, but how will you retain your strength?”
“I drink human blood, only it comes from a blood bank.” He informed them.
“You’re better than that. You’re a prince for God’s sake. We don’t drink from bags. That’s beneath us” she scolds.
“Lourdes, David’s a smart man. He knows what he’s doing. He looks great and is living well so let him be.”
Oh, she does not like that and the look she gives David’s father clearly says ‘butt out’.
Aurelio rises. “Time to hunt, we’ll be back by sunrise, son.”
Once they are gone, I feel like I can breathe again.
As soon as they are out of earshot David apologizes, profusely.
“Promise me you’ll never ever leave me alone with her,” I beg.
He laughs, “That’s a given Amor.” He kisses me, steadying my nerves.
I go upstairs to let the dogs out. They stopp dead in their tracks in front of the guest room, their hackles raised as they growl their dislikes toward our house guests which concerns me. I signal to them to continue downstairs. Passing David in the kitchen, I tell him about their reaction as we passed the guestroom and further reiterate the need to keep them in our room during his parents visit.
He agrees, “Their reaction to my parents was the one I expected to receive the first time you brought them over.” He is clearly conflicted.
“What did your mother mean when she asked about your plans after college?” I ask as we take the dogs out.
“Remember, Jess, I’m next in line to take over the family business which means I’ll have to return to the castle in Bulgaria. But this is nothing for us to worry about now.” He kisses between my furrowed brows.
“And when she asked about the choices you’ll have to make?”
This one is harder for him to answer. “There are many choices for us to make if we decide to stay together, well if you decide to stay with me. You already know I’m in it until the end.”
Like a tidal wave, our previous conversation comes flooding back to me. He’ll have to turn me after my twenty-first birthday, we won’t be able to have children. The family legacy would end with him.
“David, are you sure you want to be with me? We wouldn’t be able to have children and your lineage would further no more.”
“I’ll live until the Earth’s end. What matters most is that we’re together. I cannot make the choice for you nor will I try, but you would be giving up far more than I. You’d lose your humanity.”
I’ve never looked at it from that perspective. The choice is mine and mine alone and not one I’m prepared to make right now. My deep train of thought has me somewhere far away, but David always finds a way to bring me back. Slithering over, he wraps his arms around my waist.
“It’s almost sunrise, Amor, let’s head up to bed.”
Lying in his arms right now is the only place I want to be.
A little game of cat and mouse would be a nice end to such a stressful day so being the bad kitty that I am, I tease, “Shower with me?”
“Race you upstairs,” echoes back as he is up the stairs and in our room before I even reach the foyer.
By the time I get up there he is already in the shower. After the dogs and I return to our room, I lock the door behind me and shed my clothes as fast as I can to join him in our walk-in shower. We take turns lathering each other. After the soap is rinsed from our bodies, he spins me around, sliding his hand down my spine. Gradually tilting me forward, he rubs his cock between my legs. I clinch my thighs together, making the channel tighter. This is hot as fuck. He reaches around taking my hand in his, first teasing my clit before reaching between my thighs. Both of us fingering me is more than I can bear. My knees weaken, he places my hands on the tile wall above my head, spreading my legs apart with his knee.
David pulls my hair to the side, kissing the back of my neck then licks his ways down. Once he reaches my ass, he massages my firm globes, teasing my rear entry with his thumbs. He squirts the lube we keep in the shower on his fingers. I look over my shoulder, watching him spread the warmed lubricant on his tip. He enters me with the tip, just enough to tease and pulls back, never penetrating.
“Do you want me in here, Jess?” he asks.
“Yes, David, I want you to own me. All of me.” I push back, letting him know I am ready for him to claim the last piece of me still left untouched.
He pushes through the tight muscle ring and I flinch. He pauses, but once I push back, he moves forward again. It is so tight, he reaches around pinching and stretching my nipples to get me to relax while his other hand works wonders on front entry. After he successfully embeds himself inside, I realize not only do I feel full, but it feels right. Having David own me like this feels as though the missing piece of the puzzle is finally put in place. The pleasure alone would have brought me to my knees had he not been holding me up from every angle possible. His fingers dive deeper, circling, taking me to a climatic high. He pulls out then thrusts in fast, deep, burying himself to the hilt, circularly rotating his hips, sending both of us spiraling out of control. Reaching the apex of our climax, we both yell, “Fuck,” in unison as not a word more needs to be spoken.
Sated and spent, he dries us both off before carrying my limp body to the bed.
The next afternoon, I wake before David, but don’t want to leave our room for fear of running into his parents. We never heard them come home, so the dogs are calm for the time being, but my stirring wakes him.
“Good morning, Jess. What are you doing?”
“Laying here thinking of ways to avoid your parents. Will you go downstairs and get the dogs’ leashes so we can take them out?”
He tosses on his pajama pants then runs downstairs. Returning, he tells me, “My parents aren’t up yet, but I still felt better putting the dogs’ leashes on just in case.”
After securing the four-legged duo, we speed past their room then down and out. I can’t get the image from my head of his mother tearing my dogs apart. She radiates evil and I can see her having no qualms with destroying my beloved dogs.
Being Christmas Eve, I resign to the fact that it isn’t going to be the celebration I have hoped for. It was only going to be the two of us, so we didn’t bother putting up a tree or decorations. Having uninvited ill-tempered guests makes the holiday a lot less merry, which is a bummer because I was looking forward to our first Christmas together.
By the time we dress and go back downstairs, his parents are there. His mother’s arctic gaze is on me before I round the corner. Trying to take the upper hand in this situation I focus on his father as I greet them, “Good morning,” hoping that would break her.
His father responds, “Good morning,” and smiles.
However, the ice queen gives me a negative once over before uttering, “Good morning.”
They both acknowledge David, “Buenos Dias,” which he reciprocates.
Wow, it’s like being back in the clutches of my mother’s family, once again the unpopular kid at the table. The only difference is this family can drain me drop by bloody drop.
I pour myself a bowl of cereal and figure it is probably best that I stand at the counter and eat. His parents invite him to go hunting again, but he once again declines. That sets his mother off on a malevolent tirade.
“Son, this is no way to live. We didn’t raise you to eat cold food!” She slams the bag he hands her on the table, splitting the side of it and sending it all over the kitchen.
His father’s calming words fall on deaf ears, “Lourdes, the boy is fine, leave him alone.”
She ignores his plea. “Is this because of your human?” She turns, growling at me.
/> David clinches his jaw and snaps, “Her name is Jessica and it’s a choice I made for me as well as out of respect for her. She’s never asked me not to hunt, nor would she. We have minds of our own and make our own decisions.”
“Lourdes, come, let’s hunt. You’ll feel better when you’ve had your fill.” His father seems to be the peacemaker.
She stares me down. My stomach balls up in knots and I feel like throwing up. Lourdes storms out the front door with David’s father trailing behind.
“I can’t take this anymore. I’m going to a hotel until they leave. She obviously doesn’t like me and it’s really pissing her off having me around,” I tell him, placing my bowl and spoon in the dishwasher.
“Absolutely not, she’s the one who needs to leave, not you. This is your home and I won’t allow her to treat you this way. She’d never tolerate anyone acting this way in her home.” He runs his fingers through his hair. I’ve never seen him this frustrated.
“Have you lost your damn mind? Human versus Vampire, how well do you think that will end?”
“She likes very few people,” he informs me.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”
“Come, Amor, don’t let her ruin our first Christmas together.” He places his hand in mine, guiding us into the living room.
We exchange presents while his parents hunt. He loves the shirts and everything I got him. David hands me two beautifully wrapped boxes. I try my best to not destroy the wrapping as I open them. The smaller of the two holds an exquisite emerald and diamond tennis bracelet. It is hard to contain the rush of emotions barreling through me. It is gorgeous and the fact that he remembered it’s my birthstone, makes it more meaningful. I am taking my time opening the second one which makes him nuts.
“Just rip the damn paper, Jess.”
I choose to ignore his outburst and continue. Much to my surprise he’s bought me a purse, a Coach purse. I never would have spent that much on anything for myself.
I hate the fact that he spent more on me than I spent on him, but he is so pleased with himself and my reactions to his gifts that I have to knock that chip off my shoulder. I scoot over to him, sliding onto his lap. “Thank you so much. I love everything, and most of all I love you.”
“I love you too, Amor.” He removes the bracelet from the box placing it on my wrist.
It is breathtaking, I feel so inferior and undeserving of these gifts. What have I done to deserve him?
He kisses me then we clean up our mess and let the dogs roam around while his parents are out. We give them their gifts and laugh as they tear them apart like little kids, there is paper flying everywhere. I’m starting to think David is right about being ‘soul mates.’ Everything meshes, our thoughts, our desire to be home rather than out, our love for the dogs and the way our bodies fit like intricate puzzle pieces. We do complete each other nicely.
Around four-thirty the dogs start growling and going ape shit. David says, “my parents are near.”
“I figured as much.” That is my cue to disappear. “I’m going to take the dogs upstairs.”
“Thanks, Jess, I’d like to have a few words with my parents — alone.”
Oh, this is not going to bode well for me. I already get the feeling she wants me to be Christmas dinner and my gut is telling me to get as far away from this family as I can.
I stand in our room with the door cracked slightly, eavesdropping when I hear David say, “Mother, I’d like a word with you.”
“Yes, David.”
“This is our home, mine and Jess’. You’ve treated her with a great amount of disrespect and I do not appreciate that. You’d not stand for it in your home and I’ll not stand for it in ours.”
“You’re ruining your life, you’re a Prince and yet you choose to live the life of a peasant,” she spits.
His voice escalates, “Well, Mother, this isn’t your life and this isn’t your choice.”
“Why would you jeopardize everything for this puny, insignificant human?”
“Mother, you just crossed the line and it’s time for you to leave. You’ll not be welcome back in our home until you can learn to treat Jess with the respect she deserves.”
Oh shit, I shut the door as quietly as I can.
A split second later, I hear the guest room door slam, bags being hastily tossed about and then something sounds like a door being ripped from its hinges. “This is not over, not by far, son,” she yells before the front door slams so hard the windows shake.
It is a few minutes before David comes up and I am not about to go down there. He comes into our room. “They’re gone and they won’t be back.”
“Are you okay?”
“I will be, but I must warn you my mother has quite the temper.”
I could’ve gone a lifetime without hearing those words. I’m dead meat for sure. He wraps me tightly in his arms.
“Nothing will happen to you, Amor, I will always be there to protect you.”
“Are you sure I’m the one for you, David?”
“I love you, Jess, being with you is the right choice — the only choice for me.” He kisses me deeply, so passionately that it feels as though I am melting, turning to putty in his arms.
Chapter 12
Over the next couple months, I manage to move the rest of my stuff into his house, well, our house. David is elated and loves the fact he can ‘officially’ tell people we are living together. I remain apprehensive regarding our dwelling situation, but our relationship is thriving and all seems to be moving in the right direction.
I value every bit of time we have together. Initially, I was afraid we’d have nothing in common and co-habiting would bring our relationship to an end, but that hasn’t been the case. We’re both homebodies, love to veg out watching movies, enjoy going to school together and we have a stellar sex life.
Spring is here. My favorite time of year and all is well until we reach the Ides of March. David and I are chilling out when the dogs begin frantically barking. David’s demeanor takes a frightful turn.
“There’s another Vampire here.”
Then the doorbell rings.
The dogs make a mad dash for the door, but David beats them to it. As he opens the front door, he gives them the hand command telling them to ‘stay’.
“Tristan, how the hell are you?” I hear him say. “Babe, come here. I want you to meet someone.”
Curiously, I make my way over, but when I look up I stop dead in my tracks. Right before me stands the most unbelievably, gorgeous creature I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Dressed in black with the top three buttons of a white button up dress shirt undone, sits the exposed inkling of what appears to be a sweet ass six-pack. He’s the same height as David, maybe slightly shorter with dishwater blond hair that falls just below his shoulder blades. The waves of his flaxen locks entrance me, the feeling of lying on the warm beach sand with the waves breaking in the background plays in my mind. His artic blue irises are piercing, lips the shade of a ripe Georgia peach.
Ugh Jess, snap out of it. I manage a nod, reaching for my mouth to wipe the drool away.
David invites him in and we move to the living room. David completes the introductions, “Jess, this is my best friend Tristan. Tristan, this is my girlfriend Jess.”
Tristan nods and takes my hand, kissing it.
Oh, he’s a player.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Jess,” he says.
My response comes out like a squeaky mouse, “Nice to meet you.”
David gives me an odd look and laughs, turning to Tristan. “Well man, I see you’ve fine-tuned your gift. Too bad you’re using it on my girlfriend.”
They both seem to enjoy that, at my expense of course. My cheeks have to be several shades of red because it feels like my ears are on fire. Politely, I excuse myself and go to the bathroom to splash cold water on my face.
They are having a great time reminiscing, so I decide not to bother them and take the
dogs outside. Plopping down on the lounge chair, I fan myself with the cool evening air. Looking around, I noticed not a cloud in the sky, the stars brightly shine. Truly a surreal night.
After a while, David comes out taking the lounge chair beside me. He grins like a kid in a candy store. “It’s great to see Tristan again. It’s probably been two, maybe three years since we last spoke. I think we were still in training at that time.” He reaches over entwining our fingers.
I look from him to the sky. “Isn’t it a remarkable night, David?”
“The night pales in comparison to you, mi Amor.” He places his lips to the top of my hand, lightly kissing my knuckles.
Our romantic interlude is short lived as Tristan emerges. “Sorry to interrupt you two love birds, but where would one find the guest room?”
I turn to David.
“Um babe, Tristan is going to stay with us while he’s in town. I hope that’s ok?” he pseudo asks slash tells me.
Being the smart ass that I am, I feign exhaustion rolling my eyes. “Great, another Vampire mouth to feed.”
David winks, kissing the top of my head before taking Tristan to the guest room.
When the dogs and I get back to our room, David is waiting.
“I hope you’re not mad that I offered the guest room to Tristan?” he asks me.
“I have no right to be mad, it’s your house.”
“It’s our house, Jess.” All it takes is me rolling my eyes and he has me pinned. My arms and legs sprawled out across the bed with him straddling my torso. “Time to shower,” he teases before hopping off me to undress.
“Gee, I don’t feel dirty,” I toy, before finding myself whisked away to our bathroom. He damn near tears my clothes in half while hastily removing them.
I’m held captive by the hormonal frenzy he stirs within. His body is sheer perfection. It is as though he is sculpted by Donatello himself. I love touching him, outlining every ab with my fingertips, watching as they frolic through his muscular jungle. My touch arouses him, I never thought I could be this liberated, this uninhibited with anyone.
