The Awakening (The Elders Trilogy Book 1) Page 11

by TL Travis

With tender strokes, he delicately massages the heat between my thighs. His playful mouth provokes my rigid nipples. I bite my lip to contain a squeal, but bite too hard and draw blood. Smelling the blood shifts his focus, his facial expression turns savage. He sucks my lips, extracting more blood as he transforms to what I can only describe as a wild beast. I couldn’t stop him if I wanted to and trust me, I don’t want to. He grabs my hands, pinning me to the wall, while his maniacal craze ensues.

In a feverishly ignited passion, he thrusts himself inside me, aggressively rocking in and out. I’m spellbound by this animalistic fantasy unfolding before me. The raw hunger of his barbaric penetration awakes sensations I didn’t know could ever have existed.

The turbulent quake building inside me is vibrating from head to toe. My hips move in time with David’s thrusts as my legs wrap lock around his waist. He has unleashed a beast within us both.

“Nothing feels better than being inside you, Amor.”

His words send me into a frenzy, shuddering as I come so hard I scream, “David!”

He growls as he comes, shaking the glass on the shower door. “Jess!”

David carries my listless, naked body to the bed, tucking me in. I instantly fall into a deep, dreamless sleep. Hours later, I am awoken by the rumblings of my empty stomach. Throwing some pajamas on, David and I head down to the kitchen.

“We’ll have to move the dogs back to our room while Tristan is here.” He shoots me an ‘I’m sorry’ look as he tells me this.

“It’s no big deal, but do you know how long he’ll be staying?” I ask.

“Now that you mention it, I forgot to ask him.”

“Good morning, love birds, humans don’t build houses like they used to, do they? Were you aware that your walls are paper thin?” Tristan informs us as he enters the kitchen.

David and I look to one another, totally embarrassed.

Luckily, Tristan changes the subject asking David, “Do you want to go hunting tonight?”

“Sorry man, we have school,” David tells him.

  Tristan shrugs. “Maybe next time.”

  David mutters, “Maybe.”

However, I notice he doesn’t look my way when saying it. I’ve never told David he can’t hunt, that is something he chooses not to do. I’d like to believe it won’t bother me, but I’m afraid it will. There are some things I’d rather not know.

Remembering David’s rendition of what hunting consisted of mortified me, but maybe hunting humans that are soulless and pose a threat to society really isn’t such a bad thing. I’m not happy with the thought that my boyfriend is a murderer, but by the same token he could possibly be removing something far worse from the streets. But what if his “soulless intuition” so to speak is wrong? Would he feel remorse?

Ugh, thankfully my train of thought is broken when I hear him ask Tristan how long he’ll be in town for.

“I have no plans, just figured I would hang for a while and see what delightful delicacies Arizona has to offer.”

Hmm, gorgeous as he may be, he leaves me with feelings of unease. He hasn’t been here long enough for me to figure out why, but I’m sure it will rear its ugly head in time.

“Jess, you’re a quiet, little one.”

Hmmm, why is Tristan speaking to me?

“Nah, not really. I don’t want to interrupt guy time. It sounds like you two have a lot of catching up to do.”

David invades my space, flipping me around and enveloping my mouth with his. Grinning, I excuse myself to head upstairs and get ready for school.

David appears about a half hour later letting me know he gave Tristan a key. His reasoning is so he can let himself in when he gets back from hunting. Why do I fear for the women of Arizona? His presence makes me uncomfortable, but not wanting to hurt David means I have to keep that under lock and key.

I am zoned out during the drive to school, unable to listen to what my gut is telling me about Tristan. Not speaking isn’t setting well with David.

“Are you mad that Tristan is staying with us?”

“No, but I’m less than thrilled that you gave him a key.” As soon as I say it, I wish I could take it back.

“If you are bothered by his presence I’ll ask him to leave,” he says through tight lips.

I shake my head. “No, I think it’s great you have a friend in town and I really don’t want to get a bad rap in your world for shooing away Vampires.” I pause, trying to put my thoughts into words. “Do you um, plan to go hunting while he’s here?”

He keeps his focus on the road. “Not if it’s going to bother you.”

This is part of who he is and it isn’t fair for me pass judgment, but I can’t shake the murdering part of it that’s associated with the hunt itself. “It’s not fair for me to ask that of you, but I’d appreciate it if you made certain your ‘dinner’—” I finger quoted, “—was beyond redemption before, well, you know,” I trail off.

He finds this to be rather humorous. “I’ll do my best to find such a monster for you.” After parking the car, he kisses me. My lips part as the passion in his kiss increases, making it difficult for me to want to leave the confines of his car.

School is boring and I am still reeling from the kiss before class which makes class drag on – for-fucking-ever. But somehow in my hormonally induced state, my train of thought diverts to Tristan and how he knew not only that David was in Arizona, but where he lived. David told me it’s been a couple years since they saw each other so this isn’t adding up. The more I linger on Tristan, the longer the list I’m mentally building against him gets.

On the ride home David asks, “Jess, you weren’t paying attention in class. Are you feeling alright?”

“I’m alright, just not a hundred percent.” Which isn’t a lie, but I need to pull my head out of my ass and quit dwelling on shit I can’t and really don’t want to control. Tristan just got here and I’m judging him without giving him a fair trial. Maybe he isn’t so bad, after all David trusts him and says he’s his best friend so there has to be a good guy in there somewhere, right?

“When you last saw Tristan, do you remember where you were?” I ask.

“It was at our graduation in Varna. Why?”

  “I was just wondering.”

He seems content with that, so I drop it.

Arriving home, we find Tristan is nowhere in sight. I go to change before grabbing a snack. While I’m in the kitchen, David sneeks up behind me, sliding his arms around my waist. “I love you, Jess,” he whispers.

I lay my head back against his chest. “I love you too, baby.”

“Hey, wanna watch a movie?” he asks.

“Sure.” I load my munchie plate full before plopping my butt next to him on the couch.

Around four a.m., the dogs start barking.

  David announces, “Tristan’s home.”

Thanks, Sherlock, I figured that much out for myself.

Tristan walks into the living room, unfortunately looking edible in his tight blue jeans, boots and long-sleeved dress shirt. Again, he has the top three buttons undone – this must be his signature style.

Must focus. Feebly, I divert my attention back to the movie before anyone notices but fail miserably as Tristan flashes me a cocky grin. David seemed oblivious to the whole scene, thankfully, proceeding to grill Tristan about his night.

“It was pretty sweet. Have you heard of a place called The Hollow?”

David appears to be uncomfortable with this question. “Yes.” But quickly flashes Tristan a look that clearly says, not in front of Jess, so Tristan changed the subject.

“I’ve reached my limit, so I’m going to call it a night. Goodnight, love birds.” Tristan turns and winks at me.

I look at David to see if he caught that, but he is facing the TV. I glance at Tristan noting the shit eating grin he displays. He turns and walks away, cocky fucker.

As soon as I hear his bedroom door shut, I launch my inquiry. “What’s
The Hollow?”

“A Vampire club in downtown Phoenix. It’s in one of the new loft complexes.” His face is stoic.

“Wow, are there really that many Vampires out there? So many that they need a gathering place?”

David chimes in, “Jess, Vampires are everywhere. You’ve probably seen more than you know.” He kisses my forehead. “Ready for bed?”

“Sure.” I guess Q&A time is over.

The next few days remain drama free. We rarely see Tristan, which is fine by me, but I sense that David is bumming because they aren’t hanging out more. When Friday night rolls around, David decides since we don’t have school, it would be a good time to go to the mall and get the stuff we need. With his birthday around the corner, a shopping trip would be a great way to get some ideas.

We hit a couple stores before stopping at the food court so I can grab dinner. I’m checking out the mall people when I think I see Tristan. Looking again, I realize it is him, surrounded by a gaggle of gawking females. I tap David’s shoulder and nod in Tristan’s direction. “Is that Tristan?”

He turns. “Yes, and in the zone I see.” Ah, the man whore zone. “Tristan is quite the ladies’ man, it’s his gift.”

This is one time I’m glad I don’t have any girlfriends for him to meet.

Tristan glances up from his female entourage catching us mid-stare. His facial expression bares great amusement as he excuses himself and makes his way over to our table.

“What brings you two to the mall this fine evening?” he inquires.

“We could ask the same of you,” David retorts.

  Tristan laughs.

David raises his eyebrows. “So, I see you’ve found your way around town without any problems.”

“I have built in GPS my friend.”

  David leaves that one alone.

Tristan scans my shopping bags honing in on the Victoria’s Secret one. “Ah, Victoria’s Secret. Someone treats their body well.” The callous son-of-a-bitch winks at me, again, right in front of David.

I thought David busted him for sure this time, because he has a strange look on his face, but he shrugs it off.

“We needed a few things so we headed up here, you got plans tonight?” David asks Tristan.

He releases a sigh as though we are boring him. “I’m thinking of heading to the Hollow, you guys wanna tag along or is it past your bedtime?”

David’s mood turns dark. “We will not be going to The Hollow. Not now. Not ever. That isn’t a place for Jess.”

Well hey, what if Jess wants to go? Not that I want to, but I don’t appreciate someone else answering for me.

He knows I’m not happy about that, or maybe the ‘what the fuck’ look on my face gives it away because his tone softens.

“I just don’t think Jess would be comfortable there and I don’t want to take her anywhere she won’t like, or anywhere that could be detrimental to her health.” He flashes me an apologetic look.

I have a hard time staying mad at him, so I shoot him back a ‘don’t do it again’ glare.

“Okay old folks, I’m out of here.” And just like that, Tristan disappeared.

David profusely apologized, providing further explanation, “It’s a sleazy place and a lot of shit goes down there that you shouldn’t be exposed to. If you were a Vampire, it would be different.” I let it go. He knows how I feel about anyone assuming they know what I want or what’s best for me. But there’s no use in beating that dead horse or starting an argument.

Once home, after running our packages upstairs, re-surfacing by scooping me up still in apology mode and gives me his sincerest, ‘am I forgiven’ face, nibbling on my neck with his fangs. Now that’s cheating. The touch of his fangs transmits shockwaves through my lady parts, it’s like his fangs have touchy-feely tickle my sensors in them.

We have put the dogs outside, but they suddenly start barking, triggering David to make a mad dash for the door. Reaching it, he hollers back that it is only Tristan. I find his being home at this hour odd because we parted ways with him less than an hour ago.

Tristan asks David, “I thought instead of going out, we could go hunt?”

I don’t hear David’s response and want to stay out of that conversation by hiding out in the kitchen.

David must have said no because Tristan begs, “Come on, dude, you can’t live off of bottled human forever.”

“Actually, I can,” David says very matter-a-factly.

“Come on, man, it will be like old times.”

I keep my mouth shut, not wanting to be an accessory to any crimes.

David appears at my side moments later. “Jess, would you mind if Tristan and I went, ummm, hunting?”

I scrunch up my nose like I just smelled shit.

He wraps me in his arms. “I know it isn’t something you like, which is why I try not to do it. But it would be fun to hang with Tristan.”

I nod and he takes that as a yes, kissing me then hollering over his shoulder as he leaves, “I’ll be back by four and will provide you with a proper thank you.”

Sitting down on the couch with a plan to read, three chapters in I find myself dozing off, when I hear them come in. I lay there, waiting for David to find me.

Next thing I know I am up in the air, whisked away while Tristan heckles in the background, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” as our bedroom door slams shut.

David looks radiant. He has color in his cheeks and a glow I’ve never seen. The glimmer in his eyes spells trouble for me, but in an ‘oh so good’ way. Energized, like a tiger on the prowl and I am his prey. I enjoy every moment of his torturous foreplay, prancing about while I play the helpless damsel in distress.

After ripping my nightshirt in half, he hurls it to the floor before strutting up the bed on all fours. Pulling my legs apart and then tossing them up and over his shoulders, his fiendish tongue laps from ass to ecstasy before thrusting inside. I push up, forcing his tongue deeper and riding it until escalating my first orgasm while his fingers playfully torture my rigid, sensitive nipples.

“Amor, I need to be inside you.” Desperate for his own release, David buries his erection inside me to the hilt in one single thrust.

I scream, bucking up taking him as deeply as I can, “Oh God!”

“I fucking love being inside you,” he tells me, forcefully guiding my hips back and forth.

“Harder, David, fuck me harder,” I plead.

“I’m gonna come, baby. Come with me. Now, Jess.”

We spiral out of control in unison, as one. It feels like an out of body experience. Our love making has always been off the charts, but this is beyond anything I can comprehend. This animalistic side the hunt brings out in David is crazy. I’ve never been one for foreplay and if he keeps fucking me like this, it will never need to near the top of my sexual escapades list.

Ravenous hunger brings me from my sexual stupor, but reaching over to David’s side of the bed, I find he isn’t there. Hurriedly, I run downstairs and find him playing chef, preparing breakfast for me.

“Someone has a lot of spunk this morning,” I tweet, sliding my arms around his waist.

He throws his head back with a hearty laugh. “Nothing’s too grand for mi Amor.” And then he spins around, cupping my face in his hands before kissing me.

Right as I sit down, Tristan walks in with a smirk on his face. “Someone had a great time last night,” he declares before the pair cackle like a couple of hyenas.

I know my face is flush so I keep my head down, shoveling my food in.

Tristan’s stare bores into me as he sits across the table. Every time I look up, he looks away. I keep a watchful gaze on him out of the corner of my eye, noticing he keeps peering up at me. I want to yell, “What the hell are you staring at,” but choose against it, not wanting to spoil David’s good mood.

But over the next couple days, Tristan leaves the house less and less. He isn’t hunting, so he rapidly depletes the blood supply. And what is
even more unnerving, is every time I turn around, he is up my ass trying to help me with whatever I am doing and even offering to cook for me. David is completely unphased by this, but I’m not — not by a long shot. Something is up and I am bound and determined to find out what it is. My dislike for him grows at a rapid rate and all this negativity is causing me to have migraines, forcing me into the seclusion of our bedroom.

  Chapter 13

Today is April tenth, David’s nineteenth birthday. Purposely, I wake before him to initiate my surprise attack. Snuggling in behind him I whisper, “Happy birthday, David, I love you.”

He rolls over and kisses me.

“Do you know what would make this birthday exceptional?” he asks wiggling his brows.

Since we seem to share the same sexual deviant train of thought, I know where this is headed and volley the first move. I rise from the bed, swinging my hips to and fro while sliding out of my night shirt, revealing my birthday suit.

Still swaying, I begin pleasuring myself. Massaging my breasts, then seductively gliding my hands down my torso and in-between my thighs. My fingers tuck in, releasing a moan. I pull them out, placing them between my lips and sucking my juices from them. My performance has him beyond aroused as is clearly visible by the tenting of the sheet over his lap. He sits at the side of the bed as I ascend down onto his lap, straddling his standing ovation.

Locking my legs behind him, I arch back placing my arms over my head and my palms flat on the floor. He grabs my hips, propelling me back and forth. Sliding his hands behind my back guiding me upright, he devours my hardened nipples. His fangs sink in as a blissful shriek of satisfaction escapes me while he drinks. Words escape me as I come multiple times, throbbing uncontrollably as he seals my wounds with his tongue. Flipping me over on my back, he continues pounding me until I feel his warm seed filling me and sating his needs.

“Happy birthday, my love,” I utter breathlessly.

“Yes, it’s a very happy birthday indeed.” He nuzzles my neck, making me giggle.

David’s birthday is pretty much spent in bed. Between napping and sex, we only surface long enough to refuel before heading back in for another round.
