  Chapter Fourteen

While on their way to San Diego, California Doug got a crazy idea in his head and told Terry and Krista he wanted to go to the United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility Prison in Florence, Colorado. He told them he wanted to have a meeting with a prisoner by the name of Bobby Marks. He was one of the original founders of "Southernwood", one of the largest prison gangs in the nation. They have branches all over the United States. It was originally created as a way to protect white inmates from predatory black inmates. Terry asked Doug, “Why in the world do you want to go see a guy like that. He's just about as bad as some of the guys you've been killing out there on your attacks? Doug replied, “Maybe so, but I think he can help stop the spread of radical Islam in the prison system.” Terry and Krista looked at each other and just shook their heads in disbelief. They thought Doug must have lost his mind.

Doug told them, "Jailhouse conversions to Islam is growing at an alarming figure and right now Muslim inmates make up around 20% of the prison population, between 300,000 to 350,000 nationwide. Many of those people are radicalized by outside groups linked to terrorism, even if they aren’t connected to them. The prison system fails to protect against infiltration by religious extremists. There is little supervision from prison officials because they say the U.S. Constitution protects the prisoners religious services from being closely monitored.” * Terry shook his head and said, “Where in the world do you get this stuff you come up with?” Doug replied, “All you have to do is a little research on the computer and you can find out everything you want to know about anything. I wanted to know about Bobby's prison gang and how the Muslims were infiltrating the prison system, so I researched it and found out.”

“There’s a Muslim Chaplain in New York that has been spreading extremism for years in our prison system. He wrote in one of his unpublished memoirs that Muslims who say they are against terrorism secretly admire and applaud what the hijackers did on 9/11, even if innocent people died. He doesn’t believe the Quran condemns terrorism against oppressors of Muslims. He says they don’t want that sort of teaching in the prison, but that’s what he’s doing. He believes that prison is the perfect place to recruit and train for radicalism and the Islamic religion. The converted inmates are mostly African American with a small group of Hispanics. New York employs 45 Muslim chaplains and the Federal Bureau of Prisons employs 10 full-time Muslim chaplains. That does not include the part-time Muslim chaplains. * Don't you see what’s happening? If we don’t slow this ideology down or stop it, we'll have a much larger problem on our hands than we do right now.”
