How things had changed with time, and how different everything looked now!

Meng Lei chose the Haber Colossal Dragon Gods as his first stop.

It hadn’t been long since the Earth Divine Realm battle, so news of the 100 Chief Gods’ deaths had yet to spread. As the storm had yet to reach the Haber Colossal Dragon Gods, the place felt incredibly peaceful and quiet.

People who should be cultivating were cultivating while people who should enjoy their beauty sleep were enjoying their beauty sleep. It was a sight of peace and harmony.

“Ignorance... Can also be a kind of happiness sometimes.”

Meng Lei appeared above the Haber Colossal Dragon Gods’ base. As he gazed at the clan currently still in a peaceful and harmonious state, he couldn’t help but shake his head a little. Then, he located their treasury and teleported into it.

Heaps and heaps of Laws of Nature Origin Crystals!

Heaps and heaps of Divinity Crystals!

Of course, because the Colossal Dragons loved shiny and glittery things like gold coins and so on, Meng Lei also noticed a fair amount of gold coins in the Haber Colossal Dragon Gods’ treasury.

  Collect! Collect them all!

  His Wealth spiked once more.

After collecting them all, various treasures were the only things that remained in the treasury. There were heaps of Crystallized Divine Spirit Extracts, innumerable divine weapons, and countless precious herbs and medicines. All of these were useless to Meng Lei, so he tossed them all into the Tower of Time, intending to give them all to Puhaman and the others after they were done with assimilating their Chief God divine cores.

However, one could easily imagine that they would have already made the leap to become great, supreme Chief Gods by the time they came out of seclusion, so they probably wouldn’t take a fancy to these ordinary treasures anymore.

Meng Lei subsequently found the Haber Colossal Dragon Chief God’s personal treasury.

It was pretty much more or less the same as all the other Chief Gods’ personal treasuries. There were no vulgar, temporal things like Divinity Crystals or precious herbs and medicines in the Haber Colossal Dragon Chief God’s personal treasury. The only things there were ancient artifacts like Void Beast body remains, Demon Grandmasters’ sharp teeth, Chief God-level divine weapons, and so on.

Meng Lei didn’t hold any interest in these things. He kept the ones that he should keep and tossed the ones that he should toss to the little golden tree. In the end, only one item was left.

This was a pillar whose thickness was that of someone circling their arms together. Measuring about a meter in diameter and ten meters in length, its surface was covered in tiny and dense scales. It appeared simple and unadorned and looked completely inconspicuous. In spite of that, Meng Lei nevertheless broke into a frown...

... Because he could feel an incredibly strong life force in the odd pillar.

It looks like a broken horn or tentacle from some kind of creature. But no matter what it is, isn’t the life force it contains a little too scary? It’s even scarier than the Space Dominus!

Meng Lei could hardly hide the astoundment in his eyes. At his level of cultivation, he was already a knowledgeable man with broad horizons. Hardly anything attracted his attention now.

And yet... This particular pillar had managed to do so!

But wasn’t this just an ordinary pillar?!

What kind of creature’s organ is this, exactly? A Void Beast’s? That’s not quite possible, though.

Even the strongest Void Beast out there was no stronger than a Juggernaut. No matter how fearsome their body was, their life force couldn’t get any much stronger than a Juggernaut’s.

Moreover, the pillar had a very peculiar body makeup and composition. It was unlike any other creature in the universe. To be more accurate, there was no sign of any laws of nature in it at all.

  Now, that was incredible!

One must know that every creature that the universe birthed—including even the Void Beasts born in the Void itself—was deeply stamped with the mark of the universe’s laws of nature.

This was just like how all lives born on Earth were carbon-based lifeforms. Just like what the name suggested, they were lifeforms founded on the basis of carbon atoms.

By the same logic, all lives born by the vast universe were born and formed under the influence of the ten basic laws of nature, five supreme laws of nature, and three great genesis laws of nature. Thus, their body compositions were completely marked by the universe’s laws of nature.

Yet, that wasn’t the case for this particular pillar. One couldn’t see any sign of the universe’s laws of nature on it at all. Rather, it was a body composition that was entirely new and unfamiliar!

  Now, that was incredible!

“Do you recognize this, Moro?” asked Meng Lei.

Moro had been staring hard at the pillar for a while now. His brows occasionally drew together and occasionally relaxed. It was as if he recognized it, yet also not. Upon Meng Lei’s question, he shook his head and replied, “I’ve never seen anything like that before, but I have some kind of vague idea in my mind.”

“Tell me about it,” said Meng Lei.

“That thing is obviously some kind of lifeform’s organ, but you can’t see any sign of the universe’s laws of nature in its composition at all. Therefore, my bold guess is that there’s a chance that it may originate from beyond the universe,” replied Moro.

  “From beyond the universe?”

A huge jolt went through Meng Lei.

  “Yes, from beyond the universe.”

Moro’s voice was low and deep as he said, “The universe is endless and boundless. As lifeforms born by the universe, we are unaware of what lies beyond the universe, but this doesn’t stop us from making bold conjectures.”

  “Go on,” urged Meng Lei.

“Mortals that live in low-end existential planes have never been aware of the existence of mid-end existential planes, high-end existential planes, or even supreme existential planes.”

Moro said slowly, “By the same logic, is there an even more spacious and higher-grade world outside of the universe that we live in?

“As the saying goes, there are mountains beyond mountains and heavens beyond heavens. Perhaps we, who think that we are great, mighty existences, are also little turtles living in a tiny pond. Who’s to say for sure?”

A huge jolt mentally went through Meng Lei. What Moro said made sense.

Chapter 419: Primordial Kun, Sudden Change

Meng Lei understood what Moro said more than anyone else.

Taking Earth as an example, ancient humans did not know that the ground they stood on was round, not knowing that they were living on a sphere. Beyond the Earth, they knew nothing about outer space, be it the solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy, or the entire universe. Even in the modern age, knowledge about space was limited.

That was the limitation of one’s cognition.

In this aspect, those lofty Juggernauts were the same. They lived inside the vast universe, and they had never stepped foot beyond it or received any information about it. Hence, their cognition had its limitations too.

  What was beyond the universe?

  No one knew!

Perhaps, it was a world of nothingness.

Maybe, it was an even larger world.

  What exactly was it?

  Who knew!

No matter what, no one could refute Moro’s speculations, especially after seeing this mysterious pillar. The possibility was very high.

“System, plunder the bloodline within this pillar,” Meng Lei ordered suddenly.

“Ding! Plundering target: Whisker of the Primordial Kun1. Target substance: The Primordial Kun bloodline. Plundering cost is estimated at 500 Supreme Divinity Crystals.” The system asked coldly, “Will you plunder it?”

  “Primordial Kun?”

  Meng Lei perked
up. “System, what kind of creature is the Primordial Kun?”

  There was no response.

  Damn it! Playing dead again!

Meng Lei scolded in his thoughts, but he could not do anything to the system. Instead, he turned to Moro. “Moro, do you know a creature known as Primordial Kun?”

“Primordial Kun?” Moro paused a while before shaking his head. “Never heard of it.”

  “Fine!”

Meng Lei turned his attention back to the whiskers of the Primordial Kun. Despite the lack of knowledge, Meng Lei believed that the price of plundering its bloodline alone was too outrageous.

“What kind of creature requires so many Supreme Divinity Crystals just to plunder the bloodline in its whisker?” Meng Lei muttered, “This Primordial Kun must be an incredibly fearsome creature!”

Of course, it might be fearsome, but Meng Lei was not stupid enough to spend 500 Supreme Divinity Crystals to plunder the bloodline of the Primordial Kun. 500 Supreme Divinity Crystals were worth his entire savings, which he could not bear to spend.

Meng Lei kept this whisker and left the Haber Colossal Dragon Gods base as he continued visiting the Titan Gods, Angel Gods, Fire Phoenix Gods, Frost Gods...

Lastly, Meng Lei arrived at the territory of Nature Gods.

The Nature Gods base was situated in the Nature Mountains. The gigantic structure could be sighted from a long way out as it towered on the mountain top. The tree crown covered hundreds of light-years with an enormously thick trunk like a heavenly pillar.

  Enormous!

  Lofty and majestic!

  Tall and towering!

  Blotting out the skies!

“So this is the Ancient Tree of Life?”

Meng Lei gazed at the gigantic tree that rose into the skies. He was at a loss for words since it was the largest lifeform he had ever seen.

The four Supreme Divine Trees—the Earth Divine Realm’s Mother Tree of Earth, the Oceanic Realm’s Deep Sea Coral Willow, the Light Divine Realm’s Fusang Divine Tree, and the Metal Divine Realm’s Golden Apple Tree. Comparing their size alone, the Ancient Tree of Life was the largest of all of them.

It was enormous in size and rich in vitality that could be felt from afar. A deep breath of the air around would energize a person immediately.

“As expected from the top of the five Supreme Divine Trees!” Meng Lei remarked as he flew toward the direction quickly.

  Rustle, rustle!

Just as Meng Lei got nearer to the Ancient Tree of Life, the tree shook, and an aged voice rang. “Outsiders shall take no further steps forward!”

  “Eh? They’ve discovered me?”

Meng Lei was surprised. He had plundered 99 godly clans of the ten Divine Realms before this, but no one had discovered his presence. He did not expect that the Ancient Tree of Life could detect him.

  Interesting.

Meng Lei’s mouth quirked upward as he stopped to ask, “Ancient Tree of Life, why did you stop me here?”

“Outsider, the Nature Gods have closed off the mountain, forbidding anyone to step inside. Please leave at once.” The voice came from the Ancient Tree of Life.

“Closed off the mountain? Why so?”

  Meng Lei raised an eyebrow.

“Please leave immediately, outsider!” the Ancient Tree of Life replied slowly.

“I’m not here today to worship or for the reputation of the Nature Gods. I’m here to take away my trophies!” Meng Lei said with a faint smile.

  “Trophies?”

The Ancient Tree of Life became puzzled.

Meng Lei said dispassionately, “I’ve killed your Chief God. Her wealth and the riches of the entire Nature Gods are naturally my trophies! Any objections?”

  “What did you just say?”

The Ancient Tree of Life trembled violently while an enormous face appeared on its trunks. It could no longer cover up the horror on its face.

Meng Lei was taken aback. “Do you know that the Nature Goddess is dead?”

“I nurtured the Nature Goddess myself, and I have a unique connection with her. I could sense that she had fallen half a month ago.” The Ancient Tree of Life stared at Meng Lei closely and continued. “As for how she had fallen, I knew nothing about it.”

“I see.” Meng Lei nodded. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt to tell you that I was the one who killed your Nature Goddess. Other than her, 99 Chief Gods from the ten major Divine Realms are dead too.”

  “This...”

The Ancient Tree of Life was in utter shock as his gaze on Meng Lei was filled with terror and shock. It could never have imagined that Meng Lei had managed to wipe out 100 Chief Gods. It was simply... simply...

  Horrifying!

“So, are you still going to block my way?”

  An amused Meng Lei smirked.

Block you? No way I’m doing that!

The Ancient Tree of Life almost wet itself in fear as it answered in a trembling voice, “You first, sir!”

  “Good!”

Meng Lei nodded his head as he flew toward the base of the Nature Gods. The Ancient Tree of Life was only a Great Perfection-level lifeform, so Meng Lei did not think much of it.

“My goodness! What is this guy?”

The Ancient Tree of Life watched the back of Meng Lei as it trembled in fear.

The divine cognition shrouded the entire Nature Gods Mountains as Meng Lei found the treasury of the Nature Gods and the Nature Goddess’s private treasury. He was in no rush to plunder them as he casually grabbed a cool, elegant goddess in black robes over.

  “W-who are you?”

The Dark Goddess was cultivating inside her shrine when she was caught. The fact that she was powerless to resist made her fearful. She knew unquestionably that she had met a terrifying existence.

Normally, she would not be that afraid with the Nature Goddess around. Who would dare to cause trouble over here?

Times had changed, however, as the Mother Tree had said due to the Nature Goddess’ demise. The Nature Gods were faced with the greatest crisis in their history.

How could the Dark Goddess be calm when the powerful enemy caught her all of a sudden?

“No worries, I won’t kill you.”

Meng Lei gave a warm smile.

  “W-what do you want?”

The Dark Goddess’s face turned pale.

  “Borrow something from you!”

Meng Lei gave the order to plunder.

  Whoosh!

The Dark Goddess felt an unknown great power engulfing her before she sensed that something was taken away from her. She became incredibly weak as though her divine body had been emptied.

“W-what have you done to me?”

Her face had turned ghastly pale by this point.

Meng Lei did not answer. It was not that he did not want to. Something unexpected happened the moment the dark-origin divine body assimilated into his body.

Chapter 420: Gray Substance, Primordial World Body

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

What was an origin divine body?

  And what was the origin?

There were ten major basic laws of nature in the universe—metal, wood, water, fire, earth, wind, thunder, light, dark, and ice.

The ten basic laws of nature corresponded to their respective laws of nature powers, which were also known as the “ten major Powers of Origin”. This was what the word “origin” meant in this case.

Origin divine bodies were divine bodies manifested from Power of Origin. For example, a thunder-origin divine body was a divine body manifested from thunder-elemental Power of Origin.

Similarly, wood-origin divine bodies were divine bodies manifested from wood-elemental Power of Origin. This was the same for fire-origin divine bodies, light-origin divine bodies, dark-origin divine bodies, and so on.

This was what an origin divine body was.

During the last half a month where Meng Lei had been going around the ten Divine Realms and plundering v
ast amounts of riches, he had also successfully plundered the ten major types of origin divine bodies along the way.

This had originally purely just been Meng Lei’s obsessive-compulsive disorder at play and was something that he had done in passing while he was at it. However, in the instant that he assimilated the last type of divine body he was missing—the dark-origin divine body—into himself, something completely out of Meng Lei’s expectations happened.

Although the nine preexisting types of Power of Origin inside Meng Lei’s body had combined with one another and come together to jointly form Meng Lei’s body, the way they were combined was just like a house’s cement, steel beams, tiles, and concrete—they were simply grouped together and assembled using a special method with nothing beyond that.

The nine types of Power of Origin had combined with one another, yet were clearly separated and remained independent of one another, each of them keeping to themselves. They were akin to nine men and women sleeping on the same bed. Although they were on close and intimate terms, they nevertheless remained as nine individuals.

However, in the instant Meng Lei assimilated the dark-elemental Power of Origin, the nine types of Power of Origin that had originally been clearly separated and existed independent of one another had actually bizarrely fused together, much like snow melting in hot water, candles flowing into lava or sodium hydroxide into hydrochloric acid...

The nine, no, ten types of Power of Origin swiftly fused together to form an ordinary-looking, simple, and unadorned gray substance.

The golden metal-elemental Power of Origin was rapidly vanishing.

The green wood-elemental Power of Origin was also rapidly vanishing, as was the blue water-elemental Power of Origin.

  ...

All ten differently-colored types of Power of Origin were rapidly disappearing while more and more of the ordinary-looking, simple, and unadorned gray substance was forming at high speed!

The ten types of Power of Origin were disappearing while a new substance formed and increased in quantity. This waxing and waning of substances formed a strange and peculiar sight in Meng Lei’s body.
