  JAMES D. BORDEN is a program manager at the IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, New York. He has authored a number of technical papers on computer system performance and taught classes in mathematics and in the technical support of computer subsystems and software. For over twenty-five years, he has directed exploration work in Roppel Cave, and he has written a number of articles documenting this work. Borden is a fellow of the National Speleological Society, a past director of the Cave Research Foundation, and the managing director of the Central Kentucky Karst Coalition.

  ROGER W. BRUCKER is the former president of OIA Marketing Communications in Dayton, Ohio, an adjunct professor of marketing at Wright State University and at the School of Advertising Art in Dayton, and the author of many articles on marketing and advertising. A cave explorer and speleologist, he has coauthored three books on cave exploring in the Mammoth Cave area of Kentucky: The Caves Beyond, The Longest Cave, and Trapped! The Story of Floyd Collins. In addition, he taught speleology for twenty years at Western Kentucky University. Brucker is an honorary life fellow of the National Speleological Society and a past president and founding director of the Cave Research Foundation.
