99.008 And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.
Chapter 100:
AL-ADIYAT (THE COURSER, THE CHARGERS) Total Verses: 11 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
100.001 By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
100.002 And strike sparks of fire,
100.003 And push home the charge in the morning,
100.004 And raise the dust in clouds the while,
100.005 And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-
100.006 Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;
100.007 And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);
100.008 And violent is he in his love of wealth.
100.009 Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad,
100.010 And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-
100.011 That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day?
Chapter 101:
AL-QARIA (THE CALAMITY, THE STUNNING BLOW, THE DISASTER) Total Verses: 11 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
101.001 The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:
101.002 What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?
101.003 And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?
101.004 (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about,
101.005 And the mountains will be like carded wool.
101.006 Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy,
101.007 Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction.
101.008 But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,-
101.009 Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit.
101.010 And what will explain to thee what this is?
101.011 (It is) a Fire blazing fiercely!
Chapter 102:
AT-TAKATHUR (RIVALRY IN WORLD INCREASE, COMPETITION) Total Verses: 8 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
102.001 The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),
102.002 Until ye visit the graves.
102.003 But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).
102.004 Again, ye soon shall know!
102.005 Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)
102.006 Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!
102.007 Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!
102.008 Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in)!
Chapter 103:
AL-ASR (THE DECLINING DAY, EVENTIDE, THE EPOCH) Total Verses: 3 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
103.001 By (the Token of) Time (through the ages),
103.002 Verily Man is in loss,
103.003 Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.
Chapter 104:
AL-HUMAZA (THE TRADUCER, THE GOSSIPMONGER) Total Verses: 9 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
104.001 Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,
104.002 Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
104.003 Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
104.004 By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,
104.005 And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces?
104.006 (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze),
104.007 The which doth mount (right) to the Hearts:
104.008 It shall be made into a vault over them,
104.009 In columns outstretched.
Chapter 105:
AL-FIL (THE ELEPHANT) Total Verses: 5 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
105.001 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?
105.002 Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?
105.003 And He sent against them Flights of Birds,
105.004 Striking them with stones of baked clay.
105.005 Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.
Chapter 106:
QURAISH (WINTER, QURAYSH) Total Verses: 4 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
106.001 For the covenants (of security and safeguard enjoyed) by the Quraish,
106.002 Their covenants (covering) journeys by winter and summer,-
106.003 Let them adore the Lord of this House,
106.004 Who provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger).
Chapter 107:
AL-MAUN (SMALL KINDNESSES, ALMSGIVING, HAVE YOU SEEN) Total Verses: 7 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
107.001 Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)?
107.002 Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness),
107.003 And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.
107.004 So woe to the worshippers
107.005 Who are neglectful of their prayers,
107.006 Those who (want but) to be seen (of men),
107.007 But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.
Chapter 108:
AL-KAUTHER (ABUNDANCE, PLENTY) Total Verses: 3 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
108.001 To thee have We granted the Fount (of Abundance).
108.002 Therefore to thy Lord turn in Prayer and Sacrifice.
108.003 For he who hateth thee, he will be cut off (from Future Hope).
Chapter 109:
AL-KAFIROON (THE DISBELIEVERS, ATHEISTS) Total Verses: 6 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
109.001 Say: O ye that reject Faith!
109.002 I worship not that which ye worship,
109.003 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.004 And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
109.005 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.006 To you be your Way, and to me mine.
Chapter 110:
AN-NASR (SUCCOUR, DIVINE SUPPORT) Total Verses: 3 Revealed At: MADINA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
110.001 When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory,
110.002 And thou dost see the people enter Allah's Religion in crowds,
110.003 Celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: For He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy).
Chapter 111:
AL-MASADD (PALM FIBRE, THE FLAME) Total Verses: 5 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
111.001 Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he!
111.002 No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains!
111.003 Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame!
111.004 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!-
111.005 A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck!
Chapter 112:
AL-IKHLAS (SINCERITY) Total Verses: 4 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
112.001 Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
112.002 Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
112.003 He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
112.004 And there is none like unto H
im.
Chapter 113:
AL-FALAQ (THE DAYBREAK, DAWN) Total Verses: 5 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
113.001 Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn,
113.002 From the mischief of created things;
113.003 From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads;
113.004 From the mischief of those who practise secret arts;
113.005 And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy.
Chapter 114:
AN-NAS (MANKIND) Total Verses: 6 Revealed At: MAKKA
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
114.001 Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind,
114.002 The King (or Ruler) of Mankind,
114.003 The God (or Judge) of Mankind,-
114.004 From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper),-
114.005 (The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind,-
114.006 Among jinns and among men.
