“Oh it is. We’ll clean your clock,” I said.

“I’m proud of you, kid, but even though you have these guys dead to rights, I’m going to make your job as tough as I can,” he replied.

“Anything less would be disappointing,” I told him. Vic laughed and hung up. Life was pretty good. I’d love to say nothing bad ever happened but I can’t. Dexter and Peace moved to Washington after they legalized pot and we never saw them again. Doc had a heart attack a couple of years later but he survived. He and Linda along with Butch and Ruth rode with Jack and me for years. Kat drifted in and out of our circle and she burned through young girls by the dozens. In some ways, I envied those girls. I bet Kat gave them a good time they wouldn’t soon forget.

Dave and Christine got married, though not for real. That was still illegal in Nevada but they had hope that might change and Christine used her position to advocate for gay marriage. Christine enjoyed Sarah as much as Dave and we never knew who would appear when we visited. I didn’t mind. I liked Dave and Sarah no matter what he or she wore. I liked Christine too. They rode with us a lot too becoming members of our loose motorcycle club. They were like family to Jack and I. Every now and then after too many drinks they were more than family, if you know what I mean. Christine, I came to learn, didn’t have a little surprise at all. It was rather big, in fact.

Jack and I never did get married but we never parted either. We lived in that Airstream trailer for years. I was only District Attorney for the remainder of the term. I did some good and hopefully left a legacy of trust and ethics behind but it wasn’t for me. I was too wild for public life and a 9-to-5 schedule. I ended up working with Jack, running his office while he bought and sold vintage motorcycle and car parts. We had a couple of rug rats, lived life to the fullest and got in a bit of trouble now and then.

When I look back on where this all started, I find it hard to believe. I was a different girl back then. I was scared of living life. Jack and Sarah taught me to live fearlessly but since then, I have come to understand it was much more than that. I learned to live life to the fullest, to do what made me happy, but most importantly I learned to love myself. I learned to accept myself and that acceptance let others love me in return. In the end, that’s all that really mattered. A good man and some good friends, along with some curtain climbers later on. That’s what life is really all about and it’s too precious to put off for even one moment more.

  Live fearlessly!

  Letting Go

  (amazon.com/dp/B00WFV3SWE)

Erin needs a break. Winter in Chicago sucks bad enough but her demanding boss, long hours at the office and no time to herself make it even worse. Erin needs a vacation.

Rick left everything behind and moved to Negril, Jamaica. His job and the rat race were slowly killing him. Now, he lives in a shack near the beach while he restores his old wooden sailboat.

Rick, however, has something Erin doesn’t despite his simple life. Happiness.

When Erin meets Rick at a beachside grill, he turns her world and her ideas about it upside down. Suddenly she’s longing for what Rick has there in Jamaica, not to mention the man himself. He delights in her curves as she gives herself to him fully. When it’s time to go home, however, will Erin let go and stay with the man she’s falling for or will she give in to fear and leave him forever?
