I bit my lip, trying to hide my smirk. Uriah smiled back at me, those intense brown eyes of his burning a hole right through me.

There was no more denying it now. We put our lips back to each other and slowly backed into my bedroom. Our hands worked at one another’s clothes. I wasn’t wearing much in my apartment these days but an undershirt and a pair of underwear were still too much.

I put my post-pregnancy body on display and stood before him while he sat on the edge of the bed. I chuckled softly while he licked over my stomach.

“Your skin is back to normal,” he whispered. “Nice and smooth.”

“I told you it would work. Now… It’s time for me to go to work…”

I pushed him back on the bed. He locked his eyes on me as he crawled backward. Uriah was so handsome that he could turn me on just with that focused stare of his. But when that big cock of his came into view, I was reminded of what I really wanted.

I crawled between his legs and gripped his shaft. I tongued his tip and he let out a deep gasp. I couldn’t hold back any longer. I sealed my lips around his cock and lowered my face down.

  “Oh, God… Bryce… It’s been too long…”

Uriah sank into the bed and let me go down on him. I bobbed my head up and down, sucking on him and teasing his shaft with my tongue. The sloppy sounds of spit smacking against flesh filled the room.

It was the middle of the day. While everybody else in Snow Falls was going about their day, we were in my bedroom. There was no place I’d rather be right now than right here, going down on the Alpha I cared about.

His cock throbbed between my lips. It trembled so much that my mouth vibrated. I took him down my throat and let him plant his tip comfortably inside of me. I gagged and gasped for air but my lungs were blocked completely. I let Uriah enjoy it for a few seconds before pulling off of him.

“You like that?” I said as I looked up at him.

  “What’s gotten into you?”

“Nothing’s gotten into me. Not yet…”

I was dripping wet at this point. My asshole was warm and ready for him. The anticipation was burning inside of my stomach so much that I couldn’t hold back.

I trailed kisses up his cock and around the base. Then I moved toward his hard abs and his muscled chest. I kept going until I was right on top of him. I licked his tongue and kissed him, letting him taste the taut flesh I was just sucking on.

“I want you inside of me,” I whispered between his lips. “I want you so damn bad…”

“Then what are you waiting for?”

The intensity in Uriah’s eyes hadn’t gone away. I sat up straight, pressing my hands down on his bulging chest to prop myself up. Uriah reached down and grabbed his cock and guided himself toward my entrance.

I stared into his eyes and clenched my jaw. The anticipation of his cock right at my wet asshole was unbearable. I had to have him now. I needed him.

I sat down and with one swift plunge, I impaled myself completely on his cock. My mouth hung open but it took a few seconds for something to come out.

  “Oh… Oh, I missed this…”

I squeezed my hands around his hard chest. He was already sweating but that didn’t stop me. I needed to brace myself while I started to grind my hips on top of him.

The feeling of his shaft rubbing against my insides was like nothing else. The stimulation of a hard cock made my whole body tremble.

Uriah remained in place. His dick as stiff as a pole, he grabbed my waist to help guide me up and down.

My own cock was getting hard. I bounced up and down even faster and my length moved up and down to the rhythm.

My head rocked back. My back arched. My toes curled.

Sweat dripping down my brow and all over the rest of me. Throat dry. Muscles sore. Heart racing. Ass wet and stretched by the cock inside of me.

I was at Uriah’s mercy, pleading out desperately from how good it was to have him inside of me.

  “Uriah… Oh, God…”

“You like it? You like riding me?”

  “Dammit, fuck yes… I love it…”

His hands tightened around my waist. He started grinding his hips up and into me. Our bodies clapped together. The loud sound of flesh smacking drowned out everything else. Uriah gave it to me like he was trying to break me in half.

My cock was swollen so much that it was almost painful. I reached down and started stroking myself, unable to deny myself the orgasm building up inside of me.

  “Uriah…”

I jerked my cock furiously. Along with Uriah thumping his body against me as hard as he was, I found my orgasm quickly. I held my breath for just a moment before finally letting go.

  “Ahh…”

A pathetic cry of ecstasy escaped my lips. I didn’t care how I looked or how I sounded though. Coming hard drowned out all of the other thoughts in my mind.

My hand became sticky with the seed pouring out of me. Cum fired out of me and landed on Uriah’s hard stomach in thick, white stripes. All the while, Uriah kept giving it to me hard through my orgasm.

I tried catching my breath when my orgasm subsided but Uriah wasn’t finished.

He suddenly sat up straight and leaned forward. Our lips locked and our tongues twirled around one another’s in a messy kiss. His hard body was sticky with sweat rubbing against mine. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him closer while he gave it to me with even harder strokes.

I didn’t have much left inside of me. He still felt good. But I somehow managed to find the strength to open my eyes.

Uriah stared at me, his jaw clenched and hard grunts escaping between his teeth. He was everything to me in my life but now he was just an Alpha. An Alpha taking his Omega. We were two men who couldn’t be any closer. And right now, I wanted to bring him to an end that I knew felt better than anything else.

  “You gonna come?” I gasped.

  “Is that what you want?”

  “Yeah, that’s what I want… I want…”

  “Say it.”

“I want you to come… I want your cum inside of me…

  “Say it.”

“Come inside me. Come in my ass, Alpha…”

He wrapped his hands around the small of my back and brought me closer. I leaned forward and tried to kiss him but he pulled away. He just pressed his forehead to mine and stared at me.

He trembled underneath me. He was close. I tightened myself around his cock and forced him over the edge.

His body seized up suddenly. It was followed by a loud, masculine grunt. His body jerked and a thick splash of cum sprayed against my insides.

  “Oh, God…”

I moaned as another stream of cum filled me up. It was all new and familiar at the same time. The kind of thing I could never get used to and constantly craved. I enjoyed having Uriah come inside of me just as much as he enjoyed it himself.

I held him close in my arms. I squeezed him tight and pressed my body to his.

“That’s it,” I whispered into his ear. “Fill me up, Alpha… Fill me up… I’m yours…”

He kept coming until every last drop trickled out of him then out of me. The wetness dripping down my asshole let me know just how much he’d come.

We sat in the bed together, a messy, sweaty, sticky pile of orgasms. Two men who had pushed one another to the edge. Muscles sore and breath heavy, I leaned forward and pecked him softly on the lips. I couldn’t help the giddy smile on my face.

“That was amazing,” I said. “Remind me not to take this for granted.”

“I’ll give it to you whenever you want,” he replied.

  “I believe you.”

We hadn’t finished making love for more than a minute before a familiar sound rang through the air. A child crying was more common than anything else in this apartment.

“I thought you said he was sleeping,” Uriah said.

  “He was sleeping.”

I got up from the bed and moved into the living room. I made my wa
y over to the crib to see my son wriggling around.

“There, there,” I said. “It’s all right. Daddy’s here.”

I picked him up and rocked him gently back and forth in my arms. He was still crying but it slowly died down.

  “What’s wrong?” Uriah asked.

“Nothing is wrong. He just has a lot of energy that he needs to dump. I guess he does it by crying.”

“I think he just misses his father.”

“Yeah, that might be it, too.”

Uriah walked up next to me and we both looked down at our son. The baby slowly started to quiet. His eyes closed and his mouth open, he squirmed a bit before gently falling back asleep.

  “There,” I said. “All better.”

“Rory has a lot of energy. I wonder who he gets it from.”

“Can’t be me. Probably gets it from his father who’s always running around in the streets. You’ve got a lot of stamina, Mr. Kennedy.”

“Or maybe he gets it from his father who doesn’t know how to sit still.”

“Hey. I sat still for most of my pregnancy. You can’t blame me for wanting to go back to work.”

Uriah put an arm around my shoulder. We moved toward the window and looked out onto the street near us. Snow Falls passed us by. Just another typical day in the city.

“Are you sure Brickstone is a good place for him?” Uriah asked.

“It’s the best place for him. With Cade at the bar, nothing will ever happen to Rory.”

  “That sounds like an idea.”

“It’s the best idea. Besides, it’s not like I can ask you to quit your job. Speaking of which, how are things?”

I looked up at Uriah. His eyes were lost as he kept staring out into the distance.

“I have a meeting with Captain Lee,” he said.

“Do you know what’s going to happen?”

  “I don’t.”

Uriah turned to me and smiled.

“It doesn’t matter though. Whatever happens, you and I will always be together. And I’ll always be there for Rory.”

  “I know you will.”

Things were finally beginning to settle down in Snow Falls. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I could breathe easier.

  Chapter 29

  URIAH

Captain Lee stood next to the window, her hands behind her back, and stared out her office window. She was so still that it was hard to tell she was even alive. A pose I’d seen many times before.

I sat patiently in my seat. At this point, I was ready for her to say anything.

“Do you know how long I’ve been captain of this department?” she asked.

“I’m sorry,” I said with a shrug. “I never bothered looking that much into your personal history.”

  “Take a guess.”

  “I—”

“Don’t worry. I know I’m old. You won’t insult me.”

  “Thirty years?”

“Longer than that. I’ve been captain for longer than that. And I’ve been at this station even longer. And I’ve lived in Snow Falls for even longer. This is my home. It will always be my home. Nothing will ever change that.”

“Sir… Why are you telling me this?”

She didn’t say anything, still motionless next to the window. Before the silence in her office could grow more awkward, she slowly turned around.

“I want you to understand how important this is to me,” she said. “How important it is to me that this city does everything it can to maintain as much of a semblance of peace as it can maintain. There will always be criminals out there. There aren’t enough police in the city to watch over everybody. But in all my years, I’ve never failed to do everything I could.”

She took a seat at her desk.

“And I know that you feel the same way,” she continued.

She leaned back, her fingertips pressed against one another. She stared at me like she was sizing me up. A teacher hesitating to tell the student his grade on the assignment she just graded.

  “You were reckless,” she said.

As soon as she said it, the scowl on her face grew.

“Two times you encountered Rivera and two times he blew up all of the evidence. Of course, the evidence doesn’t matter since Rivera is dead. Though it would have been nice if we could trace everything back to all of the people he’s dealing with. But… It doesn’t matter. With Rivera gone, everything underneath him will eventually crumble.”

“I’m sorry. I know the DA wanted a conviction. But Rivera forced my hand. If I didn’t do what I did, he would have killed me.”

“You don’t have to explain it to me. I read your report more than once, Kennedy. It’s not just the two facilities that blew up. It’s the biker gang. To think that you were in league with a petty thug.”

She sighed a deep breath and shook her head.

“It’s disappointing that you had to use alternative means rather than the resources the department provided for you.”

“There are limits to what even the police can do. I had to go out there on the streets. It was the only way I could discover the details we needed on Rivera. It was the only way I could get close to him.”

“It was still reckless. It was irresponsible. I didn’t put you on this assignment so you could just carelessly throw yourself in harm’s way.”

I put my head down. The more I tried to reason with her, the more I knew she would only scold me. There was no point in trying to explain my point of view.

“You did everything you had to do,” she said. “And that’s exactly what I wanted to see.”

I slowly turned my head up. The sudden smile appearing on her face only made me more confused. I blinked to make sure that I was seeing her right.

“I love Snow Falls,” she said. “I’ll do anything to protect it. This last assignment proves you’re willing to do the same. I can assure you that you’ll never have to worry about doing anything like that again.”

  “Do you mean—”

“I’ve put in a strong recommendation for you. How does Detective Kennedy sound?”

“It sounds… great,” I said with a laugh.

“It’ll take a few weeks to process the paperwork. But once it’s done, I’ll expect you to get back to work. There are a lot of things going on out there in Snow Falls, not just in the West Bay. I want you to be one of the people responsible for making sure that those things are put to rest.”

I stood up from my seat and shook her hand.

“I promise you,” I said. “I’ll do everything I can to keep this city safe. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

  “I know you will.”

I turned around to leave. Just as I put my hand on the doorknob, she called out to me.

  “Kennedy.”

  I turned around slowly.

  “Congratulations.”

The smile on her lips was still hard to believe. It didn’t make her look any less intimidating. She always had my respect though. Even more so now because through it all, I knew she was just a woman who cared about her city.

I headed back to my desk and collapsed in my seat. The tension I had just before the meeting with Lee was completely gone. I felt foolish that I had any worries at all.

“Look who it is,” Sanders said. “The man of the hour.”

He had a small box in his hands as he sat down at the desk across from me.

“How are things, Officer Kennedy? Or should I say Detective Kennedy?”

  “What? How did you know?”

“I’ve already told you before how long I’ve been here. I’ve seen all kinds of people walk through that door. I always knew you were one of the good ones. What you did with this Rivera case is nothing short of remarkable. You tracked down the biggest drug kingpin in the state. Hell, you didn’t even lock him up. You got close enough to put a bullet in his chest.”

“Considering how many enemies he had, I wonder how he’d gone so long without it.”

  “Everybody
was scared of Rivera. Not you though. You took down an empire. You made him run away like a coward.”

“I did my job, that’s all.”

“Everybody working for Rivera scattered like roaches. I imagine there are a lot of small-time dealers celebrating his demise.”

“The thought of doing something that criminals are celebrating doesn’t exactly make me feel good.”

“It should make you feel good because none of them are as bad as Rivera. You can’t arrest every bad guy in a day. One by one. You’ll get there. And with you working investigations, I’ve got no doubt things are gonna be looking pretty good for Snow Falls. Too bad for you though…”

Sanders opened up his box and pulled out a glazed donut. I raised an eyebrow at him in curiosity.

“Wait a second,” I said. “What do you mean too bad for you?”

He swallowed his bite down and shrugged.

“Look at you,” he said. “You’re fit. You’re athletic. You spend more time at the gym than you do enjoying life.”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“You were built to be out there on the streets, dealing with punks and checking thugs. Now, you’ll just be in your office, pushing pencils and directing other cops on what to do. You do know that’s what it means to be on investigations, right?”

“I know what it means. I just… I never thought of it that way.”

“Not that it’s a bad thing. Nice office. Constant air-conditioning. Not having to report to your superiors every single day. You’ve got it made.”

  “Yeah, I suppose I do…”

With Bryce in my life and a child to take care of, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I wouldn’t have to keep him up late at night, wondering and worrying about where I was. I could do my job and still be the father I needed to be.

  “Hey, Sanders.”

  “Yeah?”

“Thanks. I couldn’t have done this without you.”

“Hey, you’re not the first partner I’ve ever had. That’s what partners do. Besides, it’s not like I won’t be around. You can still hang out and have some donuts.”

“…You know… I think that extra burst of sugar was what I needed to catch Rivera that night.”
