“I want to hold him,” Craig said.

Edward looked over, and Ross appeared to be cleaning the infant in the small basin of water that had been brought into the room. There was also some children’s clothing beside him, which Edward hadn’t thought to bring.

There were toddlers in this pack. The clothes must’ve belonged to one of the pups at one time.

“Almost, love, I think he is just making the boy presentable for you.”

“Got a healthy set of lungs on him,” Ross said.

“Like Jason’s boy,” Roarke said, and he nudged the larger luna alpha who was beside him.

Jason made a gruff noise before he turned to leave the room, possibly to go and see his mate and child that Roarke had just spoken of.

Edward was still looking around, hardly able to believe that it was over. The event that had nearly taken the life of his lover was done, just like that, and now Craig was safe, and so was his child.

  His child.

“All right, here you go,” Ross said, and he came forward with the screaming baby in his arms, passing him over to Craig. “You’re going to have to keep him off your stomach, and you’re going to have to stay in bed until your healing can kick in and make this hole go away.

“There’s no afterbirth to worry about?” Edward asked. That was how it worked for women.

“Omega luna werewolves are still strictly men when they’re not carrying babies,” John said, and he finished with the stitching and began wiping away the blood on Craig’s stomach. Then he began putting bandages on him. “He doesn’t have ovaries or a menstrual cycle. The womb wasn’t formed until you started having sex with him. Whatever didn’t come out on Jason’s claws or on the baby will just break apart on its own and turn back into normal blood. Fascinating, right?”

Craig and Edward looked at each other, both knowing full well that it wasn’t how it happened for them, but that was too complicated to explain. Edward just filed it away for information he would use later.

Ash came then, holding a bottle with formula in his hand, and he gave it to Craig, who thanked him softly before putting the strange looking nipple into the boy’s mouth.

He was instantly quiet, and Edward watched, intrigued, as his mate fed him and the boy ate.

“You’re all guests here,” Roarke said. “For however long you need to recover. There’s enough old baby clothes laying around that you can use, and because Jason’s boy is still feeding, there’s enough formula to share, too.”

“Thank you,” Edward said. “For doing this for us.”

Roarke just nodded. “We’ll leave you alone for now. The bathroom’s down the hall, help yourself to whatever you need in the kitchen, and we’ll all be around if you have any questions.”

Edward thanked the man again and watched him go, and then it was just him and his mate. And his son.

He was thrilled, and he was sure he had the widest smile on his face as he touched the boy’s soft head.

“He’s got a full head of hair,” Craig said, nodding at the fuzz. “It’s your hair. It reflects green.”

“I hope he has your eyes,” Edward said. The boy had yet to open his eyes, but he prayed that it would be true.

“When should we let your brothers in to see him?” Craig asked.

Edward stared at his mate for some seconds, and he brushed some of the man’s damp hair out of his eyes. “Later. I want you both to myself for the moment.”
