Diving Into Trouble
Page 3
His gaze slid over her as if he were totally sure of himself. She wasn’t going to giveaway how nervous she was. She wanted this to be awesome and worthy of repeating. Please no disappointments.
‘No. Just you.’ He closed the few paces between them, pulled her close and kissed her.
She gasped, then she was putting her arms around his neck and giving into temptation. His hand eased over her hip and a little lower, inch by inch until he cupped her butt and lifted so she was on her toes and pressed against his body.
His mouth was soft but his stubble was rough. The contrast was nice; she grew tired of seeing clean-shaven men all the time. She ran her tongue over his lip, eager to taste him again. His fingers kneaded her butt and she couldn’t help but move her hips against him. The length of his erection pressed against her with the promise of a good time.
The nerves that had formed started to melt away. She let her fingers dance along the back of his neck and into his hair as she moved her hips.
He groaned his approval and the kiss deepened. His shoulders relaxed and she realised he’d been tense even though he hadn’t been showing it. That knowledge gave her a shot of confidence and spiked the lust coiling in her belly.
She drew back, her lungs burning for air and her lips hot from the kiss, and started undoing the buttons on his shirt. It was like unwrapping a Christmas present. She’d felt the shape through the wrapping and thought she knew what she was getting but couldn’t be sure until she’d seen it, him, in the flesh.
He didn’t stop her, but she was aware his breathing quickened. He watched her, his hands still on her hips, sliding under her top, brushing the skin of her waist. He lowered his head to kiss her neck, the prickle of his stubble on her skin sent bursts of pleasure through her and made it hard to concentrate on the buttons.
She traced her fingertips over his chest. There was just enough hair to tickle her skin but not enough to hide the muscle definition. He was fit. As her hand slid lower she found the bumps of a sixpack. Impressive.
Kurt’s hand moved higher to cup her breast through her top. Her nipples were already tight and hard; as his thumb brushed the peak, a shiver ran through her body. She wanted to strip off and get naked now—yet she didn’t want to rush either.
Good kisser.
Fit.
Interesting.
Kurt was ticking all her boxes and she’d almost forgotten he could cook. A second date might be a really good idea. Right up until she remembered she wouldn’t have time. As the trainee MT on the boat she’d get duties every three or four days, and then there was the competency log she needed to complete. She’d either have to make time or just enjoy tonight.
‘Shall we move to the bedroom?’ Her voice betrayed how much she wanted him.
He glanced at the front door. ‘Thought you’d never ask.’
Ah, he’d obviously been expecting Sunny to come home and catch them. There was no chance of Sunny sneaking home as her car sounded like a pack-a-day smoker after running up a flight of stairs, but she refused to sell the ute.
‘You’ll hear Sunny’s car from half a block away. We’re right.’ Rainy took his hand, aware of how his fingers automatically curled around hers as though he’d done it a thousand times before.
She’d tidied up her bedroom for the occasion. While she didn’t have much junk, when she was in her own space her clothes tended to spend more time on the bedside table or on top of the drawers than in the wardrobe or in the drawers. Being in the navy hadn’t taken the slob out of her on a permanent basis.
Tonight her room looked like something out of a magazine. The streetlight slanting through the vertical blinds cast the room light and shadows. Everything was neat and tidy and there were a few choice books on the bedside table. First impressions—only impressions, she reminded herself—mattered and she didn’t want Kurt running out of her room in horror because he’d seen her collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics. She didn’t want him to remember her as a one-night weirdo, although she suspected everyone had at least one person who fitted that description. She certainly had.
Kurt closed the door and leaned against it for a moment. His gaze flicked from her to the bed and then around the room before settling on her face again.
She took off her jacket and dropped it on the chair that was also uncharacteristically free of clothing. His eyes followed every move.
‘I don’t usually go home with women on the first date.’ He pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
She couldn’t decide if he was having second thoughts or trying to justify his presence, but she liked the way he considered tonight a date. Maybe it was; after all, they had arranged to meet and they’d both turned up after having a week to think about it.
‘You usually take them back to your place?’ She smiled and took a step closer. She’d invited him over so she was the one who needed to move this forward. Her hands slid up his chest, his skin warm beneath her palms.
His lips curved. ‘Sometimes.’
‘I’d have been worried of you’d said never.’
‘I’m not a saint. I like a good time.’ His fingers pushed into her hair and he kissed her hot and hard.
Her stomach flip-flopped and her breath caught. But she managed to ease her hands down and undo the last button on his shirt so she could push the edges aside. He shrugged out of his jacket and shirt with her help, his clothing falling to the floor. That was more like it. In the half-light in the room she couldn’t make out the tattoo on his shadowed side, but there was something inked there. She traced the outline, her fingers brushing over his ribs, then lower … as much as she wanted to see him naked, she wanted to enjoy this. The feel of his skin against her and the way his breathing quickened as her touch skimmed lower. Her fingers grazed over the fly of his jeans.
Before she could do anything, he picked her up and dropped her on the bed.
She let out a surprised squeak and he paused as he leaned over her. ‘Too fast?’
‘No. I’m not used to guys picking me up.’ For those few seconds it had been exciting and unexpected.
He ran a finger from her collarbone to her navel, then he opened the top button of her jeans. ‘Do you always pick up guys?’ He raised one eyebrow and looked at her.
‘No, but when you came up to me in the bar I didn’t want to say no.’ Lust at first sight and for a change she’d given in. She hoped she wouldn’t regret it later.
Chapter 4
Kurt smiled, but she had said no at first. ‘I’m glad I got a second chance.’
‘You made a good first impression.’
His fingers traced over her belly. ‘I’ll try not to screw that up.’ He placed a soft kiss on her lips.
No pressure at all.
He could feel it pressing all around him. Was she assessing every kiss, every touch? He needed to give her less time to think. The only reason he cared what she thought was because he wouldn’t mind seeing her again. They could have some fun before he sailed, if he sailed. He undid her fly, the zipper teeth loud in the silence of the house. A little bit of music wouldn’t go astray.
Rainy’s hands were on his back, sliding down to his hips, reminding him how long it had been since he’d gotten laid. Too long, but this might’ve been worth waiting for. Her touch left trails of heat on his skin. Tentative and yet steady as if she was seeing how much freedom he’d allow her … as much as she wanted. She swept a thumb over his nipple, it tightened in response and his dick throbbed.
Having a week to think about it hadn’t dampened any of the need; if anything, it had fed the fire as he’d wondered about who she was and what he’d like to do with her. His imagination hadn’t come close to reality.
He’d never wanted to fall into the trap of sleeping with whoever offered when he went out the way some did. Drunk, random sex that he’d barely remember seemed like a waste of everyone’s time. This he was going to remember for a long time even if he never saw her again. Already he was thinking of way
s to make that happen. He hoped she’d be on the same wavelength and would be up for some fun. He needed some fun. He hadn’t realised it had been missing until she’d walked past.
When he nipped her lips, she responded in kind. A smile formed on his lips and he kissed down her neck.
She wriggled against him. ‘That tickles.’
He laughed. ‘I’ll shave next time.’ He had to be clean-shaven for work and he was running dangerously close to getting a warning about the length of his hair. He didn’t really want Rainy seeing him as Navy. With her he was pretending to be a civilian, it was why he’d told her he was a cook.
‘No need to go to extremes.’ Her fingers trailed along his jaw. ‘I like it.’
Perhaps he should get a chit to grow a beard. He was sure he’d pass the two-week inspection, but he didn’t want a full beard either. That was his problem; he didn’t really know what he wanted anymore. He lifted his head and looked into Rainy’s lust-darkened eyes.
That wasn’t entirely true. He wanted her. Right now that was all that mattered.
Kurt pushed up her top, exposing her bra. Dark and lacy; she’d dressed for the occasion. Which meant she’d been thinking about tonight the same way he had, hoping that it would go well and that something would happen. Had she worn the full set of black lace? His gaze slid down her bare stomach to where her jeans were open, but he couldn’t see if her panties matched.
‘They do,’ she whispered with a grin. Then she pushed him back so she could sit up.
While she gathered up her top and pulled it over her head, he used the opportunity to toe off his shoes. The sight of Rainy in only her bra and jeans was like a shot of Sambuca. It burned all the way through him, then kicked. His dick hardened further, ready for duty.
She scooted up the bed, wriggling out of her jeans in the process. The tiny pair of panties barely qualified as underwear, and yet they had the desired effect of making him want to pull them off. Since she was only in her underwear, he stripped off his jeans and socks and joined her on the bed. He kissed her ankle—below the small cut—then slowly worked his way up her leg, her inner thigh, then the skin above the bow on her panties. She drew in a sharp breath as her fingers kneaded his shoulders.
For a heartbeat he hesitated, then he lowered his mouth to the lace and kissed her through the fabric. It was rough against his tongue; her skin would be slippery and silky. He could almost taste her. From the way she squirmed the lace was rough against her too, but she didn’t push him away. He gave her inner thigh a gentle bite then continued up her body, kissing and tasting her skin.
Lust was in his blood like a drug and wouldn’t be sated quickly. That he had to be at work by seven tomorrow morning was something he could worry about later. He’d just be tired. But there was no way he was rushing tonight for an easy day at work.
Her fingers danced over his skin, drawing him closer, her legs opened further as he moved up her body. He raked his teeth over the peak of her nipple, enjoying her gasp, before sucking it into his mouth. Her hips moved beneath him, but he resisted the urge to lower his hips to hers even though it would feel really good to be nestled against her. He loved the way she responded to his touch and the feel of her nails on his skin. He released her nipple and kissed his way to the other side. The perfume she’d put on was slightly bitter but he didn’t care. She smelled so good.
She moved and her hand closed over his shaft. His breath caught as his heart hammered hard. She ran her fingers over his length, pausing to trace the ridge of the head through the fabric of his briefs before running her fingers along the edge of the waistband as if she were considering dipping beneath.
He was sure his heart stopped as he waited, hoping to feel her touch.
Then she slipped her hand into his underwear. A shiver raced through him as her cool fingers glided over his heated skin. Rainy’s eyes were dark and unreadable in the half-light as she freed him from his briefs and let her hand explore his length. He closed his eyes for a moment so he could remember how to breathe. Her touch was a light tease that made him want more.
The condoms were in his wallet, somewhere in his clothes on the floor.
He didn’t want to move, but he’d have to in a minute or so. In a minute or so.
He caught her mouth, claiming her lips with his as his hand slid down her stomach and pressed lightly against her clit. She moaned as he touched her, then again as he moved aside her panties and caressed her slick skin.
She lifted her hips offering more and her touch went from soft to firm as she fisted him and stroked.
So much better than his hand.
He eased two fingers inside her. He wanted it to be more than his fingers sheathed in the wet heat. Her hips rocked in time with his thrusts. Then she put a hand on his chest as if she wanted him to stop. He stilled. Too fast, she seemed to be into it?
‘If I lean over to get a condom, you get rid of the underwear.’ Rainy didn’t give him time to agree. She was already rolling over and reaching toward the bedside table. Kurt blinked then sprang into action; this was no practice drill.
He flicked open the clasp on her bra and tugged her panties down, she wriggled helpfully as she grabbed the box. While she tore off a foil packet, he shed his briefs. When she rolled back, both missions had been accomplished, they were in the same position only this time they were both naked and breathing a little faster.
Her gaze flicked down his body. ‘Nice work.’
Was she talking about him, the ink or his underwear-removal skills? Right now he didn’t actually care. ‘Thanks.’
He leaned closer to kiss her and felt every brush of her skin against him.
Her thigh on his. His shaft on her thigh. One of her hands on his shoulder, then neck as she kept him close, stealing his breath. One leg hooked over his hip, then she bucked her hips and pushed and he was on his back with her kneeling over him with a grin on her lips and a hand around his dick.
‘Nice move.’ He’d never had a woman throw him over before, and he wasn’t going to start objecting now.
‘Thanks.’ She gave him another slow stroke. Her tongue flicked over her lip and he hoped she was thinking of licking him from root to head. There was no way he was going to ask on the first date.
Her gaze lowered to watch her hand. His balls tightened. He wasn’t going to let her keep doing that either, as it felt entirely too good. He took the condom out of her hand and ripped the packet open. She released him so he could roll the rubber on. Then he drew her forward so he could kiss her and distract her from playing with the overexcited part of him.
His plan worked really well until she lowered her hips to grind against him. Slick and wet and ready. The feel of her around his fingers was something he couldn’t get out of his head. He really wanted to be pressing into her. She rolled her hips against him, her breathing quickened as though she was getting close.
Now that would make a good impression.
He rolled a nipple between his fingers and she moaned into his mouth. That she wasn’t hiding her desire and was determined to make sure she enjoyed herself was a great change, she was with him instead of waiting for him to do something. He placed his hand on her hip, not to stop her from moving, but as though he was dragging her down hard on him already. He would be doing exactly that in a minute.
Her breath was on his lips as she moved, her eyes almost closed. She trembled in his hands and came, her hips moving hard against him. He wanted to be in her now, riding out that wave. Without stopping to think, he rolled her onto her back and sunk into her. The ripples of her climax tightened her pussy around him. It felt too good. It was almost a relief to pull out for a moment.
Then her leg was over his hip again. This time she didn’t push him onto his back, she drew him closer, lifting her hips to meet him thrust for thrust as though she couldn’t get enough. Even though the need to come was rising in his blood, he wanted to stall and keep this going. Impossible. But he didn’t want tonight to be over.

p; ‘Come for me again.’ He was greedy, but he wanted to see her face etched with desire one more time.
She slid her hand between their bodies. He didn’t need to look to know what she was doing. He was lost. The idea that she was stoking her clit and if he looked—oh he wanted to look—the need that had been building rolled through him in a few short seconds of bliss as he thrust into her.
Rainy was just behind him, her pussy clenching as she came again.
He kissed her hard, not wanting to admit that this evening was over … almost.
The few times he had picked up in a bar and got to it straight away there was the awkward scuttle for clothing afterward as he made excuses and bolted for the door, already regretting the alcohol and the woman. This time Kurt was sure he was with the right woman and there would be no hangover tomorrow.
He rolled over and lay on the bed for a moment. ‘Bin in the bathroom?’
‘Yeah.’ She had the lazy smile of a very happy woman playing on her lips. Her body was still limp on the bed as if she wasn’t quite ready to move. And she hadn’t bothered to try and pull the sheets over to hide herself either.
Confidence. He might have made the first approach but ever since she’d been pulling the strings. He liked that. He liked her.
Before getting up he leaned over and stole another kiss. The heat was gone but the need to touch her wasn’t. Her fingers skated up his arm, reassuring him that the feeling was mutual.
As he walked to the bathroom, he tried not to think of the ways this could go wrong. He hadn’t been exactly honest about what he did. Cook yes, but not in civvie street. Would she be pissed when she learned the truth? There was a reason he didn’t come straight out and say it. Navy guys had a bad rep with women no matter which port they were based in—most of it wasn’t deserved, or maybe he didn’t hang out with that crowd.
A different woman in every port, different postcode and it didn’t count. What happened up top stayed up top. He’d heard all the excuses.
He closed his eyes. Yeah, he may not hang out with those guys but it happened. He’d been on enough trips to know what some got up to. He’d also seen enough relationships break because of it. Women didn’t trust sailors. He’d didn’t blame them.
