  “My Carter,” she whispered, reaching up and touching his face gently.

  “We never thought we would ever see you again,” Drew whispered against her temple. “Now that you’re here with us, your beauty takes our breath away.”

  “Don’t ever think we don’t desire you,” Carter added.

  Suzie sighed, hoping that she could somehow get past the worry. Time would be the real test. Maybe she would find that everything would work out after all. That would be nice. She remembered the female voice that had spoken to her in her mind the night of their mating, telling her to trust in the joining and that all would be well. Maybe it finally would be after all this time.

  “Let’s get this exam finished so we can take you into our home,” Drew told her firmly. “We can discuss everything later after you’ve rested.”

  “I don’t need to rest, Drew,” Suzie told him, smiling softly.

  “Maybe you don’t,” Drew answered, accepting her words. “But maybe I need you to be settled in our triad bed between me and Carter so we can hold you.”

  “Oh,” Suzie whispered, unable to say another word.

  She remained silent while Drew completed his thorough examination. He listened to her heart and her lungs, looked in her ears and throat, and examined her eyes. He touched the bruises on her body, making sure that there were no broken ribs. He checked her back and her legs for injuries. He cleaned her ankle that had been rubbed raw by the shackle, both he and Carter swiping at it with their tongues before Drew applied the salve to prevent infection and wrapped it with the roll of sterile gauze. Carter helped him every step of the way. Their gentle hands were sure and capable, and she was filled with pride at the caring healers they had both become.

  She moaned with pleasure as they applied a soothing balm to her neck where the collar had burned her. There wasn’t one moment of pain as they helped her.

  “Suzie, I need to perform a gynecological exam now,” Drew told her calmly.

  “No, you don’t,” she told him, blushing.

  “Yes, honey,” he insisted. “I have to make sure you weren’t injured by Randall’s abuse.”

  “Randall never touched me sexually,” Suzie told him softly.

  “Did he have pack members touch you?” Carter asked, trying to rein in his temper and control his wolf.

  “No.”

  Carter looked at Drew in surprise. The relief he felt that their mate hadn’t been violated helped him to calm down.

  “I’ve only been with two men in my life,” she told them quietly. “I’ve only wanted to be with those two men in my life.” Her voice was whisper quiet as she admitted her feelings to them.

  Drew pulled the sheet up Suzie’s body, tucking it carefully around her. He reached down and picked her up, cradling her against his chest and kissing the top of her head as he carried her from the examination room. He led the way through the connecting door that entered into the home that she would now share with him and Carter. Carter followed closely behind him as he made his way past the two rooms that the men had called their own until tonight.

  Thank the Fates that she was spared that abuse. Drew’s voice cracked with emotion as his words were whispered in Carter’s mind.

  Carter couldn’t even answer him. He was too overwhelmed with emotions as he thought about their mate.

  A sudden vision of their Suzie laughing with their daughter as she played with her in the sandbox at the playground Jace had built for the cubs of the pack flashed through both of their minds. They saw their daughter’s blonde hair as she bent over the pile of toys she was burying in the white sand. The sound of a baby’s cry filled the air, and Suzie stood to go to the small carrier that sat at the side of the sandbox. She reached down and picked up the newborn, cuddling the baby against her chest.

  We’ll have at least two cubs. Drew’s happiness made Carter smile. I wish Suzie could share in our visions. Maybe she’ll be able to see what we see after we’ve helped her get healthy again.

  Drew walked toward the room that they had set up with the hope of having their Suzie back with them. Carter reached out and stopped Drew with a hand on his shoulder. Drew turned to face him, smiling as Carter leaned forward and kissed Suzie’s temple lightly.

  Once we rid Suzie of the silver in her system, we’re going to make our first cub, Drew. Our old rooms will be for our children.

  Drew smiled. He agreed with his triad partner one hundred percent. He hoped they could convince Suzie to forgive them and start that perfect life with them.

  Chapter 12

  Drew placed Suzie gently in the center of their triad bed as soon as Carter pulled back the sheets and comforter. He pulled at the sheet that had been wrapped around her until it came loose, revealing her beauty to them. Carter dragged the sheets and comforter up her body and tucked her in, kissing her forehead lightly before leaning back to stand beside the bed.

  Suzie struggled to see their shadows. “Are you leaving me?” she whispered as she saw them both move away from the bed.

  “Hell no,” Carter told her immediately.

  “We want to get into bed with you, honey, but we won’t if it will make you uncomfortable,” Drew told her softly. “We understand if you need more time before we share our triad bed.”

  “We do need to claim you again, honey,” Carter told her. “We need to claim you often so the silver in your body can be neutralized. But we don’t have to stay with you after we claim you. If you want privacy, you can have this bedroom and we’ll sleep in our rooms until you’re ready to have us be with you in here.”

  “I think that’s the most I’ve heard you speak in the last fifteen years,” Drew told him, astonished.

  “Don’t make me hurt you, Drew,” Carter warned him.

  “Be nice!” Suzie admonished him.

  “Sorry,” Carter mumbled.

  “Me, too,” Drew added.

  Suzie smiled, suddenly filled with joy. “I don’t want you to sleep away from me,” she told them honestly. “I want us to be together, but I don’t think I’m ready for any funny business.”

  “We must have done it wrong if she thinks it was funny,” Carter spoke up, looking at Drew and smiling at the chuckle that escaped Suzie at his words.

  “Stop it,” she warned them. “Don’t make me laugh. This is serious.”

  Both men climbed into bed and snuggled tightly against her as they lay on top of the comforter. They reached out and took her hands in theirs, bringing them to their mouths to kiss them lightly.

  “The situation is serious, Suzie, but making love should be fun,” Drew told her, smiling. “I remember having fun with you. I remember laughing with you and feeling complete happiness when I was deep inside of you.”

  “I remember that, too,” Suzie whispered.

  “That’s good, baby,” Carter told her, his voice gentle as he brought her hand up so he could kiss the ring that she still wore. “I’m glad you’re wearing our ring, honey. It means you still believe we’re a mated triad.”

  Suzie reached out and felt both of her men’s hands, searching for their rings. She closed her eyes with relief when she felt them on their fingers. Maybe they hadn’t forgotten her after all.

  “We’ve never been without our rings, Suzie,” Drew whispered. “When you put these on our fingers, we committed ourselves to you forever.”

  Suzie opened her eyes and searched for the shapes of her mates as they leaned against her side. “I never took mine off,” she told them. “After I was told you were killed, I promised myself I would never forget you. I prayed that our time together had created a baby for me to love and always have a part of you with me. When I realized I wasn’t pregnant, I was so angry with the Fates for taking you away from me twice. Once when you died, and once when I knew I didn’t have your child growing inside of me.”

  She pushed their hands away as sadness and anger filled her. Drew tried to reclaim her in his embrace, but she refused to be consoled. Carter was no more successful at holdin
g her than he was.

  “I know you said you tried to come back for me, and I believe you, I really do. But fifteen years is a long time to be alone. It still hurts. I’m sorry.”

  Drew closed his eyes and accepted her hurt. He deserved it. He was the one who had made the decision to stay away. Carter had tried countless times over the years to get him to change his mind, but each time, the words Randall spoke threatening their Suzie echoed in his mind, and the sight of him hurting Mitchell, her mother, and Suzie made him know that their old alpha would gladly carry through with his threats to hurt Suzie and kill her family. The thought of watching as Randall raped their mate made him sick to his stomach. He was nearly insane from feeling so powerless against the brutality that their mate had faced alone. He had wanted to save her. He had been tortured by his inability to save her. How many times had he nearly gone to her and tried one more time to free her? He had lost count, but at the time, he couldn’t take the chance of causing Suzie more pain because of his failure. For him it was really choosing the lesser of two evils.

  His mates would never know the torture he went through daily, remembering the choices he had to make. Because of him, they had lived a lifetime of isolation that had hurt all three of them. He would never allow them to know. It was his burden to carry.

  “Suzie, we need to claim you to help you heal,” Carter’s voice interrupted his thoughts.

  “You said that before,” Suzie acknowledged. “How is that going to help me?”

  “Each time we claim you, more of our DNA will be introduced into your system through our saliva,” Drew answered calmly. “Over time, our healthy DNA will overwrite the damaged parts of yours, healing your blood and your body. It will take time, but eventually you’ll be fully healed.”

  “Claiming me is very intimate,” Suzie told them calmly.

  “It is,” Carter agreed. “It will bring us closer as a triad each time.”

  “The physical aspect of it is beautiful,” Drew told her softly. “Emotionally, it gives us the connection we need with you, baby. Until you’re ready to continue a physical relationship with us, we’ll be satisfied with that connection. We won’t rush you. You’re the one in charge. We have a lifetime ahead of us to figure it out.”

  “I’ll be honest with you, Suzie,” Carter spoke up. “I want to make love to you. I want to claim you while I’m deep inside of you. I want us to be bonded forever in every way. But I only want that when you’re ready.”

  Suzie thought silently for a moment. She truly felt that both men were willing to wait for her readiness. Was she ready? No. Did she want them? Absolutely.

  “Drew?”

  “What, baby?”

  “Do you know how long it will take for the silver to be purged from my body?” she asked him seriously.

  “I don’t know, honey,” he told her honestly. “I’ll run tests on your first blood sample tomorrow. If you wouldn’t mind, I’ll draw more blood each day to see if your levels improve after we claim you, which we will do often.”

  “It will happen, honey,” Carter promised. “You don’t have to worry about the when of it. It will take as long as it takes, and we’ll continue to claim you daily to help the process along.”

  “Okay,” Suzie whispered. “I want to be better. I want my wolf to come back to me. And…”

  “And what, honey?” Drew prompted.

  “And I want to be healthy to be able to carry our children inside of me without worrying that I’ll hurt them.” She turned to Carter and reached up to touch his cheek, dragging her nails across his stubble. “You told me that you and Drew wanted to have children with me. Do you still feel that way?”

  “Yes,” Carter whispered, almost unable to trust his voice.

  “Drew?”

  She reached up with her other hand and rubbed the back of her knuckles against his cheek, growling softly at the feel of his whiskers. Drew leaned into her hand, holding it still while he kissed the back of it before placing it over his heart.

  “I want you to be honest with me,” she told him firmly. “Carter told me that you both wanted children with me many years ago without talking to you about it. I need you to really think about it and tell me what you want.”

  Drew pulled back the covers to expose Suzie’s body to them, leaning over her and resting his chest against her side carefully so as not to hurt her injuries. He lowered his head to kiss her lips lightly before resting his forehead against hers.

  “I don’t need to think about anything, Susannah,” he told her softly. “I’ve thought about it every day from the moment I realized you were our mate. I want you in every way. I want you to be filled with our cub. I want a lifetime of love and children with you, baby.”

  Carter leaned against her other side and kissed her cheek. “I can’t wait until I can feel our children growing inside of you,” he whispered, touching her belly reverently and rubbing it tenderly. “I don’t know how it will be possible, but I think you’ll be even more beautiful when you’re pregnant.”

  “I agree,” Drew whispered. He touched her belly gently, rubbing the pad of his thumb across it repeatedly. “Do you think you’ll enjoy being pregnant?”

  Suzie laughed lightly. “I think you’ll have to ask me that after I’ve experienced morning sickness,” she told him, teasing. The smile on her face slowly faded, and she placed her hand over Drew’s and pressed it gently against her stomach. “Do you think I’ll ever get healthy enough to be able to get pregnant?”

  “Yes,” Drew answered her without hesitation. “Carter and I will make sure of it.”

  “I hope so,” she whispered.

  “Baby, you’re going to be healthy and pregnant very soon,” Carter promised. “And we’re going to welcome our cub with so much love.”

  “Yeah?” she asked him, reaching up to find his face and rub at his whiskers as she often did to soothe herself.

  “Yeah,” Carter told her with complete conviction. “You’re going to be a wonderful mother, Suzie Q. I can’t wait to hold our cubs. I want to watch you nurse them, and I want to taste your milk. Will you allow me to do that, honey?”

  Suzie’s heart fluttered at his words. “Yes,” she whispered. “I would like that.”

  Both men’s growls of happiness and need filled their bedroom. Drew rolled to his back and pulled Suzie on top of him, arranging her body carefully so she was comfortable. Carter pushed himself up on his arms and settled at her back, lowering himself just enough to sandwich her between them without hurting her. Her contented sigh told them that she was comfortable.

  “We’re going to claim you again, honey,” Drew warned her.

  His canines dropped, and he bit quickly, sinking into the soft flesh between her neck and shoulder just as Carter’s canines did the same to her opposite shoulder. Suzie cried out in pleasure as the men held her tightly within their jaws and drew in her blood. Their hands caressed her arms gently as she became boneless within their hold.

  After a moment, they withdrew and swiped their tongues across the puncture wounds to close them easily, humming against her with complete pleasure and satisfaction. Carter pulled back and helped Suzie to lay back on their bed, smiling at the way she allowed them to arrange her. There was an expression of complete satisfaction and laziness as they tucked the covers around her.

  When they were about to pull away, her hands reached out to grip their forearms tightly. “Please stay with me,” she whispered.

  “Absolutely,” Drew told her, kissing her lips lightly.

  “We’ll never be apart from you again, Suzie Q,” Carter promised.

  “I’m going to hold you to that,” she answered him lazily. “Get undressed and get into bed beside me. I need you both to hold me.”

  Drew stepped from the bed slowly, reaching up to pull off his shirt and drop it to the floor. Carter did the same, smiling down at their mate as she melted into the mattress and began to fall asleep.

  Do you think so?

  There’s not a doubt in my mind. I’m relieved she wants that with us.

  I think so, too. Carter’s voice held happiness—something Drew hadn’t heard in his triad partner’s voice in a very long time. I didn’t taste as strong a concentration of silver in her blood this time.

  I didn’t either. I think our DNA is already helping her. It would happen quicker if she allowed us to come inside of her while we claim her. Our sperm will add to the concentration of our DNA in her system, but I’m not going to push it. She needs to be able to choose when she’s ready to move forward with our physical joining.

  Carter nodded, understanding and agreeing with his triad partner. Hopefully she’ll be healed soon. I’m looking forward to loving her completely.

  Drew smiled, picturing the two of them taking their mate together. His cock was already rock hard from claiming Suzie, now it was throbbing painfully. He thought about going into the master bathroom and finding his release, but he didn’t want to be away from her for even the small amount of time it would take him to come. Instead, he pulled back the covers and slid into bed beside their mate, drawing her into his arms.

  Carter kicked aside his clothes, pulled back the covers, and settled on the other side of their mate. He wrapped his arms around her, settling one hand on her belly as he held her tenderly.

  Suzie sighed softly, pulling both men closer to her even as she slipped deeper into slumber. She could hear Drew and Carter’s conversation whispering in her mind and smiled at the thought of them wanting to come inside of her. She wanted that, too. She was too tired to tell them to be quiet and was content to listen to them, happy to hear their deep voices echoing through her mind and filling her chest with emotions. She had missed hearing their voices for so long, she wasn’t about to have them be quiet now.
