“You’re dizzy?” Drew asked worriedly. “When did this start?”

Drew, I can feel your worry. What’s happened? Carter’s voice filled both Drew’s and Suzie’s heads immediately.

Suzie is dizzy, Carter. I’m checking her out now.

Suzie Q, what’s wrong, baby? The softness of Carter’s voice didn’t hide his worry at all.

“I’m fine,” Suzie insisted, speaking out loud, knowing Carter could hear her through their link. “I’ve started to see colors a little more vividly, and it’s throwing off my equilibrium.”

“You’re seeing colors?” Drew asked, astonished. “That’s wonderful, honey. The silver must be filtering out of your system at a faster rate than I had expected.”

That’s a really good sign, right, Drew? Carter asked hesitantly.

Yes. It’s a very good sign. I’m going to draw some blood and compare it to the other samples I’ve already taken.

I think filling you up with our seed has really helped you, Suzie Q. Carter’s voice was teasing, but there was a definite growl to his words.

  Carter, shush!

Baby, no one can hear me but you and Drew.

I know that, but they can probably see me blushing.

Baby, they’re in the other room, Drew reminded her, laughing.

Are you blushing, honey? Does it embarrass you to hear me talk about filling you with our seed?

No. It makes me want to rip your clothes off and have my way with you.

Carter’s immediate growl of need and the flash of the picture he sent through their link of the three of them naked, entangled, sweaty, and panting was enough to make all of their hearts race.

Suzie sent them the picture of her holding both men in her arms and stroking their backs lovingly. She showed them how she wanted to kiss them and pull them tightly against her. The love she showed them was deep and honest—exactly what the men needed to give themselves over to the tenderness and caring that would always soothe them.

“I’m going to draw some blood and give you a quick exam,” Drew explained softly, knowing the link with Carter was still wide open. He was glad his triad partner could share what was going on so he wouldn’t worry. “Then you’re going to go and lie down.”

“I don’t need to lie down, Drew,” Suzie protested.

You will not argue with Drew, Mate. Carter’s concerned voice held determination as he spoke to her. Please, baby. Do what Drew tells you to do. I’ll be home as soon as my shift is over.

Drew waited patiently while Suzie struggled with the need to be independent and the understanding that they only wanted to make sure that she was all right. She finally nodded her acceptance, and Drew breathed a sigh of relief. He could feel the same relief filling Carter and was thankful that the mating link between them had been restored so that they all could share in the situation.

How were the results of the blood samples, Drew? Carter asked him softly.

The level of silver in Suzie’s blood from this morning’s draw shows a dramatic reduction from the one I took yesterday.

Drew worked efficiently as he spoke to his triad mates through their link. He sent Carter a picture of Suzie, calm as she sat on the examination table, without including her in the connection. He sensed Carter’s understanding immediately. Their conversation was serving to keep her relaxed and focused so she wouldn’t get upset by the examination.

He quickly took her blood pressure, drew a blood sample, listened to her heart, and examined her eyes. When he saw that her eyes were returning to her true color, and he saw how the pupils of her eyes dilated as he shined the small light at them, he was filled with hope.

Carter felt the spike of happiness surge through Drew.

How were our blood samples, Drew? Carter asked him again, reminding him to continue talking to keep their Suzie calm.

You and I are fine. The level of silver is minimal. I don’t think we have anything to worry about at all.

Are you sure, Drew? Suzie reached up and touched his face gently, leaning forward to rub her face against his stubble to calm herself.

Yes, baby. And now that the silver levels in your system are even better, the exposure to me and Carter is practically nonexistent.

Thank the Fates. Carter’s relieved voice made them both smile. I still think we need to claim her and fill her with our seed often—just to be sure.

Suzie smiled and leaned into Drew’s chest as she felt him chuckle.

I agree with you completely. Drew’s voice was filled with need despite his humor. What do you think, Suzie Q? Do you want us to continue claiming you and making love to you?

  You’d better!

Both men’s laughter filled her mind, and she blushed sweetly as she tugged at Drew’s arms. She didn’t think she had ever been more thankful to have such wonderful men as her mates.

  Yeah, we’re pretty awesome.

Carter, shush! You shouldn’t have heard that. I’m going to have to work on keeping some of my thoughts from you.

Don’t you dare, baby! Drew’s deep voice warned her at once. We need to hear you and sense you at all times. We’ve been without you for too long. Neither one of us will be able to deal with being apart from you ever again.

  Please, sweetheart.

The pain in Carter’s voice tugged at Suzie’s heart.

You know I belong to you. I always have and I always will.

Her voice was soft as she did her best to soothe her mates. In her mind she was rubbing against them, covering herself with their scent. That always settled her and made her happy. She hoped it did the same to them, too.

  Thank you, Suzie Q.

Carter’s relieved voice made her relax. She needed the same reassurance from her other mate. Drew?

I’m good. As long as you’re with us, Mate.

Reaching forward, he lifted her into his arms and turned to carry her out of the examination room, stopping when he saw Alex, Nikki, and Butler waiting patiently in his office. It suddenly occurred to him that Nikki had been carried into his office as well.

“Is Nikki all right?” he asked them, concerned.

“I’m fine, Drew,” Nikki insisted. “My mates are overprotective and wouldn’t let me walk here, although I’m perfectly capable of doing so,” she told him, looking at her mates with aggravation.

“You can get as ornery as you want, sweetness,” Butler told her calmly. “We’re not taking any chances that something might be wrong with you or our cubs.”

“Oh, you haven’t seen ornery, buddy,” Nikki warned him.

“You can show me later, baby,” Butler told her, taking her in his arms and kissing her soundly. “Now calm down so you don’t upset our babies.”

Nikki’s mouth snapped shut. She hated when he stopped her before she worked up a full-fledged snit. It was so much fun to bait them. It was even more fun to make them growl with frustration and then howl with need.

Alex slid his hand over her belly and petted it lovingly. “Our babies are calm when you’re calm, honey,” he told her softly. “Stay calm so Doc can examine you. Once he tells us the three of you are okay, you can go on and do anything you want—within reason, of course.”

“Of course,” Nikki told him, smiling. She turned to Drew and nodded at him. “You go ahead and take care of Suzie. We’ll wait for you, Drew. And then you’re going to examine Butler and Alexander as well as me and our cubs. I want Drew to make sure the two of you are all right.”

She looked at her men and crossed her arms, daring them to deny her request. They just smiled down at her, touching her face lightly as their love for her filled her soul.

Drew smiled and turned to carry Suzie through the connecting doorway into their home and climbed up the stairs to head down the open hallway until they came to their bedroom. Pushing open the door with his foot, he walked into their room and gently set her down in the middle of their triad bed.

He leaned over her, resting his hands on either side of her head as he looke
d down at her. She looked up at him, her face relaxed and happy.

“I want you to rest, Suzie,” he told her firmly. “I’m going to go back downstairs and examine Nikki, Butler, and Alexander. I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

“Take your time,” she told him, reaching up to touch his cheek lightly. “I’ll stay here like a good girl. But when you come back, I want to be a bad girl with you and Carter.”

Carter’s immediate growl made them both smile. Suzie giggled. It was the sweetest sound both men had ever heard.

“Go on and take care of your patients,” Suzie whispered tiredly, closing her eyes and turning on her side to settle into the pillow beneath her head. “I’ll be here when you’re finished.”

Drew covered her with the light comforter that rested at the foot of the bed. Leaning down, he kissed her temple lightly. “Rest,” he told her quietly. “Sleep if you can. I shouldn’t be long, honey.”

“Okay, my Drew,” she whispered, closing her eyes and giving in to the exhaustion that suddenly filled her.

  My Carter?

  What, baby?

  Are you coming home now?

I still have two hours left of my shift. Why?

Because I want to love on you both.

Happiness filled Carter. The miracle of having their mate back with them made him thank the Fates for the blessing of their incredible woman. Her words were the sweetest, most arousing eight words he had ever heard.

  Chapter 18

Drew walked into their bedroom as quietly as he could. The examination of Nikki proved to her worried mates that both mother and babies were perfectly healthy. He had been relieved to find that both Alexander and Butler had fully recovered from Boyd’s attack on them as well.

Thanks to Nikki’s nursing training and with help from Mia and Martha, both men had been fortunate to have had the silver bullets removed in enough time that they could fight the effects of the silver poisoning successfully. After he looked in on Suzie, he would check the blood samples he had drawn from Alex and Butler just a few minutes ago to make sure that the silver in their systems had been completely eliminated. The fact that both men had been able to shift into their wolf forms made him know that the men were out of danger.

Standing beside the bed where their mate slept peacefully, he couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his lips or the surge of happiness that filled his chest. She looked absolutely adorable as she hugged both his and Carter’s pillows to her chest as she lay on her back.

Climbing up beside her, he rested on his left side facing her and raised his hand to gently touch her cheek. The softness of her skin was a definite contrast to the strength of the woman before him.

  She’s so beautiful, Carter.

You’re not telling me anything I don’t already know, Drew.

Carter’s voice was deep with desire, and there was a definite edge to it. His wolf was close to the surface. Being apart from Suzie was starting to affect him.

I can’t imagine how difficult it was for her all these years.

Drew’s voice was soft inside Carter’s head as he spoke to his triad partner. He gently caressed Suzie’s face, smiling at the way she immediately turned into his palm and kissed it lightly.

She’s stronger than both of us combined.

I can see her in bed beside you, Drew. Is she all right?

She said she was a little dizzy. She’s starting to see colors, and it’s throwing off her balance.

Is that something we need to worry about?

I think it’s a good sign, Carter. It means her vision is starting to come back. Her eyes are nearly her original color. I’m hopeful that she’ll be fully sighted very soon.

What about the silver content in her system?

I just took another sample about a half an hour ago. I’m willing to bet the levels will prove exactly what I suspect. She wouldn’t be seeing colors otherwise. Our mate is definitely on her way back to full health.

  Carter growled suddenly.

  What’s wrong, Carter?

  Nothing.

Then why did your wolf just growl?

Because as soon as the silver is gone from her system, she’ll be able to conceive our cubs and carry them without a problem.

The immediate vision of Suzie walking up the front steps of their home, carrying a little girl on her left hip, flashed through their minds.

The front door of their home opened, and Drew walked out to meet them. The little girl giggled with delight, sounding so much like Suzie it made Drew smile.

“Daddy, up,” the little girl called to him happily, raising her arms up and grabbing onto her daddy’s shoulders as he lifted her into his arms. He settled her comfortably against his chest and held her so that she sat securely on his forearm.

“Did you have a nice morning with Mommy?” he asked her, taking the kiss she offered and returning one of his own on her rosy cheek.

The little girl nodded her head quickly, her soft, blonde curls bouncing merrily. “Yes, Daddy. We builded sand castles.”

“You builded sand castles! Well, that sounds like you had fun.”

“Poppa! We builded sand castles!” she called to Carter happily as he came out the door to join them on the front deck.

“You did? That’s awesome, munchkin,” he told her as he leaned forward and kissed her cheek soundly, growling against her face as she grabbed his long hair and used it to pull him closer.

“My name is not munchkin, Poppa!”

“Are you sure it’s not munchkin?” Carter teased her.

“I’m sure,” she told him firmly.

“Okay, honey,” Carter told her, smiling. “Then what is your name?”

  “Fred,” she answered quickly.

“Fred!” Carter sputtered, looking at Suzie in shock. “How did she come up with that one?”

Drew hugged their little girl to him tightly, kissing her cheek and pretending to bite her face as he laughed. “You are not named Fred, little one,” he told her seriously.

“But, Daddy, I like the name Fred,” she protested, releasing Carter’s hair from her grip so she could pat Drew’s face lightly.

Suzie laughed and leaned against Carter as he trapped their little girl between him and Drew. “We were talking about boy names while we were playing in the sandbox,” she explained as she kissed her daughter’s cheek lightly. “She said she liked the name Fred, and she wanted to name her little brother Michael.”

“Okay, baby girl,” Drew told her as he touched her hair lightly. “When we have a little brother, we’ll name him Michael just for you.”

“I’m good with that name,” Carter agreed. “Now we just have to ask Mommy if she wants to add a little brother to our family.” He looked at Suzie with so much love he wouldn’t be surprised if hearts and flowers floated all around them.

“Mommy already has her little brother growing inside of her,” Suzie whispered, smiling softly as both men looked at her and smiled.

“We know, Suzie Q,” Carter told her softly.

“Your scent changed when you conceived,” Drew told her, reaching out and gathering her in his embrace so that she was good and truly cuddled among the three of them.

“Your taste also changed, baby,” Carter whispered against her ear. “When our daughter goes down for her nap, I’m going to enjoy tasting you again.”

Suzie growled against Carter’s chest, kissing it tenderly before biting down on it. “As long as I get to taste the both of you, too,” she told them, smiling at their immediate, responding growls of desire.

Holy shit! You saw that, didn’t you, Drew? Tell me you saw that.

  I saw it, Carter.

By the Fates, our daughter is adorable.

She is. Drew leaned forward and kissed Suzie’s smiling face. I can’t wait to meet her and hold her.

“Drew?” Suzie whispered, fighting through her sleepiness.

  “Yes, baby?”

“I’m glad you’re here,” she told him tiredl
y, pushing aside the pillows that she was holding as she turned toward him and burrowed into his chest. “Where’s Carter?”

I’m almost through with my shift, honey. I should be home soon.

Suzie smiled as she inhaled the wonderful fragrance that encompassed Drew. His scent filled her, and her wolf sat up, taking notice of the unique aroma of their mate. She growled possessively and pushed at Suzie’s chest to bite—to claim. The need was so great it was overwhelming her. She looked up at Drew, searching the shadow and colors for his features, needing his face to ground her. She could feel her wolf clawing at her chest, demanding to be allowed to surface. The feeling was so foreign to her, it scared her. Being unable to be in touch with her wolf for the past fifteen years made the feeling of finally connecting with her terrifying, and she could feel the panic filling her.

  “Help me, Drew,” she whimpered.

“What’s wrong, Suzie?” he asked as he immediately surrounded her with his arms and held her tightly against his chest. He could see the soft, golden glow that was fighting to surface in her eyes and knew a moment of concern as he realized that Suzie was struggling with control over her wolf.

“I can smell your scent,” she growled against his neck.

“That’s good, baby,” Drew told her, smiling as she pushed aside his shirt and bit down on his shoulder. He lifted his hand and held the back of her head, petting her hair lightly as he growled with happiness at the feel of her claiming him. When she removed her teeth from his skin and looked up at him through cloudy eyes, he began to worry.

“Drew, I haven’t been able to scent anything since Randall put that collar on me,” Suzie told him, leaning into his shoulder and breathing in deeply. “But I can scent you, and my wolf is demanding that I claim you.”

“Suzie, it’s okay if you give control to your wolf,” Drew told her gently. “Let it happen, honey.”

“I can’t calm down,” she told him, panicking. “I don’t like feeling this way. Please help me, Drew.”

Drew took her face between his large hands and settled himself above her, pushing against her pelvis as he settled comfortably between her thighs. He lowered his head and kissed her tenderly, increasing the pressure of his lips on hers as he leaned into her. His heartbeat pounded against her chest, linking their physical beings as he searched her mind for her fears. He could feel her chaotic thoughts and the panic that was filling her. Pushing thoughts of calm and love through their link, he growled against her mouth. He felt her calm slightly and give in to the passion that was growing exponentially between them.
