Glossary
This is by no means meant to be exhaustive. It is simply explanations or definitions of some terms used in this work.
Arty - Slang for artillery.
CP - Command Post.
Defilade - A position where a unit or individual cannot be hit by direct fire. Reverse slopes, depressions, etc are examples.
Enfilade - Fire directed from a flanking position, especially a position that can rake a unit/s in a lengthwise direction.
HQ - Headquarters.
Klick - A kilometer.
Mag Gun - Originally Slang for a magnetic coil gun or rail gun, it is now common usage.
NCO - Abbreviation for Non-Commissioned Officer. Corporals and sergeants fall under this category of rank.
Push - Spacer slang for acceleration.
Shove - Spacer(especially salvor) slang for one space vehicle physically maneuvering another.
SITREP - Situation Report.
Top - Slang term for First Sergeant that was first used in a large conflict on Earth called World War One. A First Sergeant is the senior enlisted rank in a company-sized element. It dates back to the mid-1850’s(Earth) when U.S. Army units ranked sergeants as First, Second, Third, etc, all the way down to X Sergeant(see First Sergeant in Coalition Rank System).
Whoa - Spacer slang for decelerating.

From lowest to highest with abbreviation.
Private - PVT
Private 2nd - PV2
Private 3rd - PV3 (All three private ranks are usually referred to as private)
Corporal - CPL
Sergeant - SGT
Squad Sergeant - SSG
Platoon Sergeant - PSG (SGT, SSG, PSG, are all usually referred to as sergeant)
First Sergeant/Master Sergeant - 1SG/MSG Equivalent ranks, 1SG is senior NCO in a company. In some armored units a different NCO ranking system is used, the 1SG rank is the same, but the next four senior NCOs are Second Sergeant, Third Sergeant, Fourth Sergeant and Fifth Sergeant. (2SG, 3SG, etc.) The actual ranks of these sergeants may vary, but are commonly MSGs and PSGs.

2nd Lieutenant - 2LT
1st Lieutenant - 1LT

Cuirassier Heavy Missile Carriers - HMC
Dragoon Medium Missile Carriers - MMC
Command and Control Vehicles - CCV
Support Transports(Hospital, Supply, etc) designated by specialty - example, STH for Supply Transport, Hospital.
Troop Transports - TT
Lancer and Chasseur vehicles perform a bewildering number of functions. Their designations represent their function - Example, LPM for Lancer, Patrol, Missile.
Many specialty vehicles are designated in much the same way.

Gnowles - The Winged Serpent of Punishment(corporeal punishment, judgment)
Khygon - The Healing Hand(mind, body, soul, cleansing)
Mersha - The Eagle that Sees(prophecy, spying, vigilance)
Shyga - Sentinel of the Abyss(gatekeeper of the abyss, hell)
Turog - Light to the Faithful(faith, proselytizing, mediation)
Tydosh - The Hand that Shapes Rock and Cuts Wood, The Artificer(work, art)
Vargosh - Fearful Vengeance of the Righteous(vengeance for offending the gods)
Washdon - The Still Water(philosophy, meditation, transcendence)
