  As the bread began to tear, the blur that surrounded the man’s face spread to encompass her entire view. Then her vision began to clear, and she found herself propped up with several pillows on a cheap hotel bed. Spread out on the business desk across from her were several pistols and an efficient-looking rifle with high-powered scope.

  In one hand, she clasped a black book with simple, gilded lettering that read, Holy Bible, with the symbol of a cross. In the other hand, she held a flier for a local church. The flier gave the address and name and had the simple addendum at the bottom that read: We bar no one from attending.
