The Revelation

Page 7

by Anil John

I knew I had found the purpose of my existence in this universe. Each and every word of revelation from the angel of wisdom was fresh and engraved in my soul.

I wanted to thank the Zen master, without him I would have never experienced the enlightenment. I searched for him around me but could not find him.

I rushed towards his stone piled house to share my cosmic experience with him. I found him coming from the village and he showed me the alms he had begged from the villagers down the hills.

Monks do it with the purpose of self effacement and conquering their egos.

He asked me in his gestures about my experience with Zen and I gestured him back that I feel liberated and enlightened.

He then asked me to sit for a while before I depart from him. He pulled out his small cloth pouch out of his robe, in which he used to keep his medallion and then he placed it on my palm with a fatherly smile.

I asked him why he is letting it go especially when I have one around my neck. He gestured that he had waited all these years to give it to me and I should take it forward and inherit it later to someone who earns it from me. He kept holding my arms for some time and then he gestured to carry my back pack and to return to my family.

I hugged him and my eyes were wet. He placed his hand on my head and I knew that he had blessed me before I bid goodbye to the Zen master.

Walking down the hills, passing by the Lamayuru Monastery and reaching the parking lot, I reiterated to myself that this journey was planned by the God.

I was happy that I could complete my quest and I will reach my home by evening tomorrow on Day 10; to be with my wife and son, to share everything about my once in a lifetime road trip, show them the pictures in my digital camera and above all, to publish the revelation from my journey to the unknown.

  The End
