“Seriously?”
She smiled modestly. “It’s one of the things I do. Get people with money together with people who have good ideas.” She added, “You’re signing on for a lot of work.”
“If it helps even one person recover, it’ll be worth all the details involved. Baron’s idea about splitting up the property isn’t a bad one, either. You and I could have a section, and Baron and Addie can have a piece. We could even cut Tess in if she ever wanted to come back from Hollywood.”
He put tightened his arm around Paula’s soft body. “To do all that, I need to live at the ranch, not here. At least for a year or two to set it up.”
Paula could stay in Cheyenne, and they’d see each other off and on. Or she could take a chance on him and the isolation of the ranch. She’d have to give up her banking position, although she could do other financial work remotely. She’d be making a sacrifice for him. Would she do it?
She sighed. “I’m not crazy about living on the ranch. I won’t lie.” She ran her fingers gently down his neck and her lips curved in a tender smile. “But I am wild to be with you, JD. I’ll follow you anywhere. That’s a promise. I’ll fly you to all your business meetings, too.”
“Sounds like a plan.” He caught her hand and placed a kiss on it. “Something else. I’m going to lick this PTSD thing.”
“Oh, JD…”
“Let’s be together from now on,” he said. “I need you, Paula. I love you.”
She snuggled up against him. “If you haven’t figured it out by now, I love you, too.”
