I ran across the yards, feeling like screaming. I threw open the front door and ran straight to the bathroom and got sick. I was so mentally exhausted. I hadn’t even noticed the hysterical sobs escaping from my chest.
I climbed into my old flannel pajama bottoms and a long-sleeved thermal shirt. I crawled into my bed and closed my eyes. I wrapped my arms tightly around my extra pillow for security in a world I could find none in. I was terrified to fall asleep, but my head was throbbing so badly that despite my fears, I relaxed and I let sleep overcome me.
