Losing Her (The Lexington Series Book 1)
Page 47
“Hey beautiful. I think you’re leaving this.” He said holding up Landon’s shirt.
I smiled, “you’re right… I am.” I looked up to see Ricky standing to the side looking unsure. I met his eyes and raised an eyebrow. He took a step back. Good boy, you think Landon is scary, your never met me pissed off.
“Why babe?” he asked.
I took a step closer to the point I was invading his personal space and if we got any closer we’d be touching. I leaned closer to his ear and said loudly, “it belongs to my ex. So it’s trash.” I snatched it from him and shot it into the pool like a basketball. At that point I looked their way and saw she was STILL ON HIS FUCKING LAP. This time curled the fuck up. I threw my arm up in the air and made eye contact with Nick.
“SLAM FUCKING DUNK. YOU CANT DO THAT BITCH!” I yelled and turned around.
“I DON’T WANT NO PROBLEMS BABE. AND YOUR ASS LOOKS GREAT.” He yelled back.
I laughed and threw over my shoulder, “WELL YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND ME FOR A TASTE.” Before I turned the corner I threw him a wink. After that we hurried to disappear. We knew that Landon, IF he came looking for me would probably go to the room. He knows that I usually hole myself away when I’m mad, but not this time bastard. We hit the fucking dance floor.
Landon never came looking for me. When we passed the balcony she was still on him, and I wanted to throw a fucking hammer at him. I decided its best I don’t go around him because I just might do that shit, and with the liquor in my system I won’t think twice. I decided to just keep dancing, that clears my mind. I didn’t sleep in our room that night. I thought about kicking one of the security people out of their space and thought better of it. I bumped into the guy who tried to give me back Landon’s shirt. He told me he knew a few people here and left to sleep with one of them while I got his room. I decided I was packing my shit and leaving the next day. As soon as Landon was up and about I was going to pack my shit and leave.
The next morning I went to the kitchen and found Nick. He scowled at me and I shrugged. He must’ve looked for me last night.
“Is your cousin up?” I asked him. He shrugged and didn’t answer. I rolled my eyes. Fuck this. I don’t care if he sees me leaving. I went up to our room and entered. Landon was in the bed still asleep and so was fucking Jasmine.
I wanted to scream and yell and hit something but I didn’t. I packed my shit as quietly as possible. I was zipping my bag up when I heard, “Lucy?”
My head popped up and Landon was looking at me. I turned my head and finished what I was doing. I was leaving this bitch in my fucking bikini. I couldn’t talk or think right now because I’m going to lose it.
“What are you doing?” he asked. I continued to ignore him and I heard that bitch stir. I walked into the bathroom and got my stuff from out of there. I threw them in my bag and threw the door open. I stormed out and started for the stairs.
“LUCY!” I heard him scream, but I kept going. I saw Hail and Erica come out of their rooms but I was done. He came out of the room in his boxers and that was the last fucking straw. I kept going and didn’t stop. I heard him stampeding after me. When he grabbed my arm I dropped my bag and swung knocking him square across his jaw.
“I’m fucking leaving you dick. Now leave me the fuck alone.” I seethed. We had already drawn an audience but he didn’t seem to care.
“FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM!?” he screamed.
I took a step back and waved my hand up and down his frame. “If you’re going to hold me up, ask me a serious fucking question.”
“I was looking for you last night.” He said as way of explanation.
On cue, Jasmine came out of the room trying to wrap herself in the blanket but I’ve already seen her attire. I knew that’s what she had on from when I walked into the room. The sheets weren’t all the way up.
“You’re concerned about the wrong person right now.” I told him.
He took a step toward me and I took one back. “Landon, I swear to god I will fucking hurt you. DON’T fucking come next to me.” I stared at Jasmine for a beat and said softly, “go take care of her. That’s who you slept with last night.”
I turned on my heels to leave. “Lucy! Stop this shit. I am so fucking sick of it. Why are we fighting about her again?” He came and snatched my shit from me.
“That whole scene was like déjà vu but remember… I still fucking left.” I informed him.
“You’re not fucking leaving. Let me tell you something. You get cute with a stranger I’m going to fuck him up. You cause these scenes be afraid I’m going to bust your ass. Quit it with this shit about that girl. You know the fucking deal already. She is just always fucking there, doing weird ass shit but I can’t tell her flat out she’s annoying me. You know the way when you’re talking too much and I fucking squeeze your lips shut? I can’t fucking do that to her. She’s like a 5 year old. She’s not my friend, but she’s always just been around. She just used to be there quiet and shit. And now she’s like a fucking nat. you know I don’t like anyone riding me or fucking questioning me. You’re pissing me off because you should’ve walked your ass over to me and said something. But what do you do Lucy? You make a scene and treat my shit like trash and flirt with people in my fucking face. You’re lucky I didn’t drown the bastard.” He grabbed me by my bikini top strap and yanked me to him, “you think this is a fucking game? I know you weren’t with anyone last night because I made sure everyone in this house knows if they fucking touch you I’m going to break their fucking fingers before I will kill them. You get it now? I went to bed wasted and alone and you just woke me up. I don’t know how the fuck she got in our room but I will find out because she didn’t come with me.” He spun his head around and found her. He stalked after her until she was backed against the staircase. “How the fuck you got in my room?” he asked her.
She stuttered, “wha… what do you mean?” she asked.
“you want to act stupid fine. HOW. THE. FUCK. DID YOU. END UP. IN MY FUCKING BED?” he screamed.
She flinched but didn’t say anything. He laughed, “fuck this. Don’t answer, I have cameras so I’ll know.” She visibly swallowed, “but I’ll tell you this. You’re causing too much fucking trouble. I’ve been trying to be nice about all of this and shit. But you fucking creep me the fuck out with this absurd infatuation you seem to have. I don’t like you, and I never did. I never will. There’s only one fucking girl.”
Jasmine looked confused and met his eyes. Her shoulders squared back and she met him glare for glare, “I thought angel was the one.” She said and flicked her hair.
Landon frowned, “yea, so?” he asked.
Jasmine beat her chest, “I’m angel. I was there whenever you needed company I was there whenever I could be.” She argued.
He sighed, “Fuck! This is my fault. I wasn’t talking about you… you just always followed me and hung around.” He walked to me and grabbed me by the back of my neck. I tried to fight him but he flipped me to his front and he grasped my chain and showed her the chain. She gasped. “You were never her. Plus I know you’ve heard me call her angel before.” He flipped the swing around for her and showed her the angel engraving. “I was never talking about you.” He told her.
She broke down in tears and ran away. He spun me around, “baby, I’m sorry. I was drinking and I even asked Nick how to get rid of her and we didn’t know how. And she appeared to be really drunk and I didn’t know what to do. And then you came in looking sexy and then you fucking threw my shirt away like you were throwing me away. When you left I handed her off to a friend. I watched you guys dancing and then you disappeared.” He ran a hand through his hair and took a step back. “IM TIRED OF FUCKING FIGHTING WITH YOU LUCY!” he took a deep breath to regain his composure. “I thought you came to bed last night, and then I saw you fucking packing. I was just as confused as to why she was there half naked. My ass would’ve been tearing this place apart had I known you didn’t come back to the room. I woke up after a few
hours and there was someone there. She wasn’t touching me or close or anything. I thought you were just still pissed off at me. I just was ok to know where you were. I thought it was you and I was trying to give you your space to be mad. When I went to bed, I thought you were still with them,” he said pointing an accusing finger at Erica and Hailey, “I didn’t see them for the rest of the night either. If I had known it was her I would’ve kicked her ass out.”
“Lucy, go upstairs. Talk to him, the whole party doesn’t need to know all of this shit.” Nick said. I sighed, because he was right but at the same time I didn’t want to go upstairs with him. I was so mad. Ok great, he finally told her off but it shouldn’t have had to come to this for him to do it. After thinking about it for a minute I relented. If I didn’t just go and get this over with now, who knows what this psycho would do. We do live together so I can’t hide forever. To be honest, I didn’t want to run either. That’s exactly what I was about to do, run. Not leave.
I started up the steps and Landon grabbed my bag and followed behind me. I went into the room and sat on the edge of the bed and dropped my head into my hands. Landon crouched down in front of me and pulled my hands away from my face. He seemed to have calmed down a lot since his explosion downstairs. “Babe, look. You have got to stop doing this to me.” He said.
I frowned, “do what?” I asked him.
“Every time you’re pissed or angry or something you just fucking leave. You don’t talk to me or anything… you just go. That’s not the way this is supposed to work. You’re supposed to communicate with each other. I would prefer if you came and hit me and cursed and screamed at me than what you usually do. How the fuck am I ever supposed to be on the same page as you if we’re not talking? When you do shit that pisses me off, I let you know. You know why? Because I want us to be on the same page. I don’t say something every time like the bullshit with Nick; because I know that you guys are working together to intentionally piss me off. Sometimes you guys are just a little too good at it and still get a reaction. I let you have fun last night, but don’t be confused. I was looking for you because I was going to hand you your ass for flirting with that guy. I wasn’t going to bottle it in or fume or avoid you. That’s what you do to me. It’s like your first instinct is to shut me out and get away from me as fast as you can.” He explained.
I sighed, “I know. I actually just realized that myself. It’s just the way I’ve always been. I’ve never been in a relationship before, and this is new to me. I’m trying, but this is hard. It seems like there’s always someone out to ruin us. And it’s kind of like you don’t dissuade it. I think of my mom and all the times she’s hurt me and the lies she said and that’s what I’m used to doing. Retreat to my room, the park, a friend’s house… just go where she can’t do those things to me. But with her I never had a choice, it was always just temporary. I always had to go back home, I knew I’d see her again… at least until Dean gave me an out. I won’t apologize, because I’m not sorry. I’m still super pissed at you. But at the same time I know I can’t blame you for other people’s actions. The problem you have is that you’re not used to looking at people or paying them attention. You never cared enough to do it. I get it, but you have to think about me too and the consequences of some things. Fine, you didn’t want to hurt her feelings… so instead you hurt mine.”
He nodded. “I know. I get that now. This is new for me too, we’re both trying and it’s going to take a lot of work. But the thing that’s going to help is us talking. Like now, this… is helping. I’m getting a look into what you think so I can understand some of your reactions better. I understand your feelings better. We’re going to fight and fuck up, but when we do we need to talk about it so that we know how to make us better.” I nodded in agreement. He blew out a long breath and climbed onto the bed. He grabbed me to lay down with him and he spooned me from behind. “I’m tired. Will you sleep with me?” he whispered. I nodded and let him hold me while I fell asleep.
When I finally did get up for the day, people were everywhere. The music was playing but not too loud. It was about 4 in the afternoon. The guys ordered a ton of food and everyone dug in. the party didn’t officially pick up until around 8:00 that night. Landon went and hung out with his friends and I stayed with the girls. He would come find me through the night to dance, or pull me into a dark corner to make out. I didn’t see Jasmine all night and that was just fine. At around 2 in the morning we were all drunk. Landon and Nick found us and escorted us all upstairs to our rooms. I walked into our room and collapsed onto the bed. I heard Landon snicker and passed right out.
I woke up in his t-shirt and I was lying on a pillow next to him. He must’ve changed my clothes last night and moved me. I stayed still and just watched him sleep. He was one moody, ridiculous, stubborn bastard. But in sleep he looked like an angel. Ha. As fucking if. A good twenty minutes must have passed when his eyes opened slowly and he looked at me and smiled.
“Why are you staring at me? It woke me up.” He said.
I rolled my eyes, “whatever. I’m not staring… I just woke up like a second ago.”
“No you didn’t, your voice isn’t super deep like a man.”
I pushed him on his shoulder, “shut up I donot ever sound like a man.”
“It’s alright babe. I just look at your tits and remember you’re my type.” He said.
I tried to hold back my laugh and glared at him, “thanks for reminding me to chop them off.”
He grabbed my breast, and I swatted at his hands. He laughed and pulled me closer and kissed me softly on the lips, “morning.” He said.
I smiled, “morning.”
“We’re going home soon. I’m going to have security clear it out. I don’t feel like it.”
“Lazy ass. I’m hungry, feed me?” I asked him.
“Only if it goes straight to your ass.” He responded. That earned him a slap to the chest before he threw back the covers and got up.
We got ourselves ready and packed and headed out. We decided to just grab brunch. Everyone seemed on edge at first when they were around Landon and I. when it became obvious we weren’t going to try to kill each other everyone relaxed. That afternoon, Dean informed us he’s having his New Year’s Eve party again, but this time it would be a masquerade. Everyone will take off their masks when the New Year comes in. we decided to make it interesting and keep what we’re wearing a secret. We were only allowed to tell or show one person, and that’s only because Erica made a fuss about needing a second opinion and what if she needs help zipping up. The other difference was that it wasn’t going to be here at the house. He’s rented a place, because he has more people on the guest list.
I was pretty excited. I decided to go shopping the next day. I went to about 10 stores and couldn’t find anything. I began to get discouraged, and considered asking someone to help me but decided against it. Anytime I had to dress up or impress someone else always chose my outfits for me. This time I wanted to be able to take the credit for me look, I’m just hoping I do ok. I got in my car and went towards the area I used to shop in. I found a small clothing shop that wasn’t there before and decided to give it a try. It was owned by a girl who created her own designs, but she was young and just starting up. I looked through the racks and I was stunned, they were beautiful.
“Hey there, can I help you?” the store owner asked.
I nodded, “actually yes. I have to attend a fancy party for New Year’s Eve and it’s supposed to be a masquerade. I’ve been looking around all day and I haven’t found anything that caught my eye.”
The girl looked me over. She began circling around me and nodded. “I love your body figure. I usually have people really skinny or older. I’ve never been able to have someone with an amazing curvy figure let me design something for them. If you’re ok with it and can put a bit of trust in me… I’m sure I can have a personally designed dress for you in time.” She told me.
I smiled, “that actually sounds per
fect, although I don’t have any ideas so far.” I admitted.
She nodded and smiled, “how about you try on some dresses with different designs, colors, and such, then we can see what styles look amazing on you. From there we can incorporate those ideas and our own and come up with something amazing.” She suggested.
I nodded. I spent the next hour trying on a bunch of different dresses and a picture began to form in my mind. We sat down together and she began sketching. When she was done I was in love, and really happy I found this place.
When she was done, she asked “now what about the mask?”
I sighed, “I have no idea. I mean I know what I would like so that it could go with the dress but I doubt I’ll find something close enough to what I have in mind.” I told her sadly.
She smiled, “well you’re in luck. In college I met someone who does jewelry and such, and can make masks. The only problem is my drawing sucks. I mean I can sketch the hell out a dress but my main skill is the actual stitching and all. I could give it a go though.” She suggested.
“That’s a wonderful idea!” I was bouncing with enthusiasm and then a thought struck me. “But I do draw. How about I create the sketch?” I asked.
Her smile was wide and she flipped to a blank page and handed over her sketch pad, “have away at it.”
The drawing flowed easily. I knew exactly what I wanted. When I was done I looked at it skeptically. I’m not used to showing people my art, with the exception of Landon. And I don’t really show him either, he helps himself. I held my breath and handed the pad back over to her. She looked over it slowly, and I bit my lip. When she was done with her perusal, she looked up at me and raised her eyebrows.
