A Bittersweet Hood Dilemma: A Naptown Love Story Page 22

Kyree was asleep on the couch when I woke her up.

  “Kyree, wake up,” I said.

“What the hell do you want? It’s three in the morning,” she said to me.

“So what, we are off today. Ride with me to Mya’s crib,” I said to her.

“For what? Kauzie must got some good dick because you and Tassana go crazy over that fool. Y’all switching identities and now you want to stalk a bitch early in the morning,” she fussed sitting up. I knew her nosey behind was going to be down for it.

“Let’s take my car,” Kyree said putting her shoes on. When we pulled up in Mya’s hood it was quiet out. Kauzie’s truck wasn’t out there.

“He is not here, we can go,” I said to Kyree.

“Hold up, a cab just pulled up,” Kyree said. A cab stopped in front of Mya’s house. The girl Mya hung out with got out of the cab, and another person got out of the cab with her.

I looked closer and it was No Hands. My mouth dropped and I could see the hurt in Kyree’s eyes as they watered. No Hands felt on the girl’s ass as they walked up the steps.

“Look at him. Just look at him and those sneaky ass nubs trying to grip her ass and his hand keeps slipping off. He fucking disgusts me,” Kyree said.

No Hands kissed the girl in the mouth then they started fondling each other in some type of way.

“Look at that shit. He is trying to rub his hands through her hair and it looks like he is elbowing her in the damn face.” Kyree opened up her door. I wasn’t ready for No Hands to see me yet. I know he would have some words for me about how I did Kauzie.

“So, this is where you’ve been creeping to, huh nigga?” I heard Kyree scream. No Hands hurriedly stepped away from the girl and down the steps. Kyree was yelling in his face and the girl No Hands was with was yelling at Kyree. I got out of the car.

“Get your ass over here, Kyree,” I said to her. She took her shoe off then popped No Hands on the side of the head with it. I pulled her off of him. The girl that was with No Hands hit Kyree so hard she rolled out in the street.

Kauzie would beat my ass if someone told him I was out here fighting. As bad as I wanted to hit that girl for hitting Kyree like that, I couldn’t.

I helped Kyree up and her eye was swelling up already.

“That’s what her ass gets. What the fuck are y’all stalking me for? And Tokyo, where the hell you been at?” No Hands fussed.

“We will talk later,” I said. Kyree started swinging over me to get to No Hands.

“How can you do me like this? You talked all that shit the other day how you miss me, you want me back, and how you were going to change. You still doing the same shit. Now you telling that bitch it’s okay to put her hands on me? Nigga, I’m sick of you, you retarded bitch!” Kyree screamed.

“Bitch, you putting your hands on him knowing he can’t hit you back. You need to be ashamed of yourself,” the girl said to Kyree pulling No Hands back. I wanted to let Kyree go so she could fight that girl, but judging by the way Kyree’s body slid out in that street, confirmed that it wouldn’t be a good idea.

“Aries, shut the hell up for a second,” No Hands said to the girl.

“No, I’m not shutting up. I’m sick of your bitches, especially your baby mama. That bitch called my phone all day. I watch your son when you need me to and now I have bitches stalking where my cousin and I lay our heads. I’m fucking tired of it. I told you if you want me to keep this baby you have to get rid of them bitches,” Aries said. It was so quiet in the hood I could hear a roach rummaging through someone’s cereal box, on top of the fridge.

Kyree let out a scream like a banshee when she broke away from me and attacked No Hands. He fell on the ground blocking his face with his arms. She swung and clawed at him.

“I’m going in the house. I don’t have time for this shit,” Aries said walking up the steps to her home.

I pulled Kyree off of No Hands. His face was scratched up and as bad as I wanted to feel sorry for him, I couldn’t.

“Two fucking babies? You know how bad I wanted one, but you get these bitches knocked up with no problem. I swear I hate your ass,” Kyree said still trying to swing.

“I’m sorry, Kyree. I love you. I swear I do,” he pleaded with watery eyes. This was the first time I had ever witnessed him emotional.

“I can’t deal with this shit.” Kyree snatched away from me then walked to her car. I looked at No Hands.

“You foul nigga. Real fucking foul,” I said to him.

“Shut the fuck up, Tokyo. You foul too. Kauzie told me what you’ve been up to. You ain’t no different than me,” he said trying to catch his breath.

“I will be over tomorrow and we can talk and get whatever it is on our chests, out. But I have to see about Kyree. Let me know when you get home safely,” I said walking off. When I got in the car, Kyree looked at me with tears running down her face.

“You knew didn’t you?” she asked me.

“I love him like a brother, Kyree. My loyalty is to the both of you. I can’t get involved, but from woman to woman, you deserve better. You don’t want to go from a main-chick to a side-chick like how I did. When a nigga keeps cheating that’s all you will become,” I said to her. She nodded her head then pulled off. I didn’t know No Hands had a baby, but if I told Kyree that she wouldn’t have believed me.

When we got back to Kyree’s house, she went straight to her room. She still had one shoe on. She climbed on top of her bed and stared at the ceiling. I sat down next to her.

“No Hands was the only man I’ve ever been with. I’ve been pregnant twice and he begged me to get an abortion. He claimed he wasn’t ready to become a father. Now he has two baby mamas. Bitches that he probably just fucks,” she said.

“Damn, I don’t know what to say,” I said.

“It hurts really bad,” she said sadly.

“I would tell you let’s show off this weekend, but my ass is limited,” I said to her then she laughed wiping her eyes.

“Have you ever been pregnant by Darrion?” she asked me.

“Hell no, I think that’s why he knocked that bitch up. I would always tell him to strap up. I have never felt him raw,” I said to her.

“But you just let Kauzie skeet all in that, huh?” she laughed.

“You see how fine Kauzie is? Just kidding. I don’t know… with him I didn’t think about it,” I replied. Kyree sat up then wiped her eyes.

“Enough of me crying over that no good ass nigga. You need to figure out how you’re going to get back at Tassana’s ass for fucking Darrion and possibly lying about her being sick. Matter of fact, I knows she is lying,” Kyree said.

“I got something for her ass, you wait and see,” I laughed hugging her. Kyree pushed me.

“Don’t be hugging me. That baby got you all mushy and whatnot,” she said.

The next day, I went by No Hands’ house. He was a wreck. He even shed a few tears. We never got a chance to talk about what I had done because he was so torn about Kyree. All he kept saying was that he couldn’t lose her. I even told him I would talk to Kyree for him. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that Kyree was officially done with him.

  One week later….

I was back at my apartment. Kauzie was not talking to me still. No Hands called me every day to beg me to talk to Kyree for him. I hadn’t been back over No Hands’ house because Kauzie would’ve made it awkward for me.

I walked outside to take the trash out. Dez and his friends were standing in front of the building shooting dice.

“Look at that ass,” one of his friends said about me.

“Keep on nigga. That crazy light-skinned nigga with the dreads will fuck you up,” another one said. I laughed as I walked to the dumpster. When I came back, Shimmy was pulling up. Drama in the hood. Kiwanna was going to mess Dez up for bringing Shimmy in front of the building.

“Heyyyyy, Tokyo,” Shimmy said switching towards me with her little stank walk. I laughed to myself.

&n
bsp; “What’s going on? Where you been hiding at?” I asked her.

“Working and whatnot,” she said looking at Dez, rolling her eyes.

“There goes my future thot ass wifey,” Dez said to Shimmy.

“Grown folks are talking Dez,” Shimmy said waving him off.

“Why are you in my hood, Shimmy?” I asked her and she sucked her teeth.

“I’m ready to go and holla at my girl Shannon,” she said lying.

“You fucking Dez aren’t you? Keep it real. You drove through spying on him,” I said laughing as she rolled her eyes. Dez walked over to Shimmy and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. He kissed her cheek.

“What the fuck y’all talking about me for?” he asked licking her ear.

“I hope you get some wax on there too. What I tell you about that,” she said punching him on the arm.

“Shorty, if wax gets on my tongue, you are dirty for that shit. So, what’s up, Shimmy? Why are you riding through looking for me?” Dez asked her.

“I’m not. Nigga, I know people in this hood,” she said chewing her gum. Her mermaid green weave was bone straight with a part in the middle. The back was chopped up like a bob. Kyree was good with the scissors and can do any type of hairstyle. She was a hotel manager during the day and a hairstylist by night.

A cab pulled up to the front of the building. When Kiwanna and all of her kids got out, Shimmy had a smirk on her face.

“There goes your family, Dez. Go help her with the kids. I can stand right here and wait,” Shimmy said leaning against the fence. I wanted to see how this would play out. Everyone and their mama knew Dez was sneaking around with Kiwanna.

Dez turned around. “Nigga, if you go over there I will embarrass your ass. Get your ass over here. Those kids can walk and they can help each other out. She has enough of them,” Shimmy spat. Dez waved her off then went to help Kiwanna out. I laughed at them.

“That’s not funny, Tokyo. He is too young to be dealing with that bitch and all her nappy headed kids,” Shimmy said. I agreed with her. Dez shouldn’t have to deal with that. Rumor was the youngest one was his, but he denied it. That baby didn’t look anything like Dez.

“Come on, Tokyo. Walk to the goody bus with me. I need a dutch to roll this good kush up with. You smoking right?” she asked me.

“Naw, I got to sit out on that one,” I said to her as we walked down the sidewalk.

  “For what?” she asked.

  “I’m pregnant,” I told her.

“Please don’t tell me you are pregnant by Geechie. That’s community dick,” she said with her nose up.

“Hell no, I didn’t even try that out.” I said.

“I hope it’s not by Darrion’s fat, funky looking ass. He looks like his feet smells like pickle juice,” Shimmy said.

“No. Damn, you just insulted me,” I said giggling.

“Who are you pregnant by?” she asked me.

“Kauzie,” I said and her face dropped.

“Y’all were really doing the do? Girllllllll. That nigga is GORGEOUS and his swag. Lord knows his swag is cocky. Then he’s tall with them dreads. The tattoos and his bottom row golds. Honey, you is winning,” Shimmy said. I stopped walking then grilled her.

“I’m going to need for you to stop fantasizing about him. You doing too much. I know he look good,” I spat rolling my eyes.

  “Calm down,” Shimmy said.

“Don’t play with me. I’m serious too. It’s hot, I’m pregnant and horny. I can’t smoke or a have damn Lime-a-Rita. Trick, I’m miserable,” I said laughing.

A money green BMW rode up the street blasting Lil’ Boosie. Shimmy and I looked and it was Geechie. He stopped the car.

“There goes my future wife. Where you been at, shorty? You been MIA for a few months. Your phone was off and all of that. You had me looking for you girl,” Geechie said getting out of his car.

“I’m walking away from you. You are pregnant by Kauzie’s crazy ass and you fixin’ to talk to this hot ass nigga. You are on your own,” Shimmy said then walked off.

“You looking good, Tokyo. What have you been eating, cornbread? Those hips done spread and those titties are sitting up like two melons,” he said hugging me. I laughed as I hugged him back.

“Why are you creepin’ through here like that?” I asked him.

“I’ve been looking for my favorite girl. Let’s grab some food,” he said.

“You are always hungry,” I told him.

“Let me eat you then,” he said.

“Get your ass out of my face, Geechie. You always have to be slick,” I told him.

“Let’s grab some food so we can talk. I won’t touch you,” he said holding his hand up.

“Stop by my apartment, so I can grab my purse and cell-phone,” I said.

“Dead people can’t call for help, Tokyo. Remember that,” Shimmy said walking past us eating a pickle out of a sandwich bag. I waved her off.

“What’s up, Shimmy? What your little hot ass doing down here?” Geechie asked her.

“Minding my business. Something you need to be doing,” Shimmy spat.

“She and Kyree got some fucked up ass attitudes,” Geechie said. I got into his car then he drove down the street to my building. When I got out, Dez gave me the side-eye.

“Shorty, you are playing with fire,” Dez said grilling Geechie.

“Mind your business, Dez,” I said to him. I walked into my place to grab my things then locked my apartment up. Dez and his crew were looking at Geechie with murder in their eyes. Geechie smirked then gave them a head nod. Dez threw up a gang sign then Geechie threw one back up.

“Only because she is with you nigga,” Dez said as he walked off.

“What the hell was that about?” I asked Geechie.

“Don’t even worry about that. Let’s just enjoy this little date,” Geechie said.

We were at a red light and an Audi pulled up on the side of us. The car looked familiar then I looked at the rims on it. My mouth dropped. Kauzie was starring a hole into my face. I put my head down. The light turned green then Geechie pulled off. I looked behind us to see if Kauzie was going to follow us, but he didn’t. Geechie had to be the only nigga in Annapolis without tinted windows.

We ended up at Mike’s Crabhouse. It was a nice setting especially during the summer. You could sit outside by the water and watch the jet skis. Kauzie brought me here a few times. I used to call him up crying to him about Darrion. Kauzie would drop everything to come and get me. Just think, in like seven months we would be having a baby. I smiled at the thought and happiness came over me.

I wasn’t supposed to be here with Geechie. It was an innocent dinner, but I was still not supposed to be here. Kauzie and I hadn’t confirmed our relationship status, but he belonged to me. I was his and he was mine. It was time for it to be accepted so we could move on with our lives.

My phone rang. My hands started sweating. It was Kauzie. I didn’t want to answer it, but I knew he would’ve kept calling. Geechie went up to the hostess to give his name for a table. I answered my phone.

  “Hello,” I said.

“What the fuck are you doing, Tokyo?” Kauzie asked me.

“Getting something to eat,” I said.

“You couldn’t call me for that shit?” he asked me.

“You’re mad at me,” I replied.

“I don’t give a fuck. What are you doing with another nigga?” he asked me.

“Can we talk about this later? You are making me nervous,” I said to him.

“Naw. We are going to talk about this shit now,” I said.

“Let me call you back,” I said. Then I heard my voice behind me. Kauzie was right behind with his phone in his hand. He had me on speakerphone. I dropped my phone. Geechie turned around then walked towards us. Geechie had a smirk on his face. I put my head down because these niggas were about to act up in this restaurant.

“So, you just going to interrupt our date, huh?” Geechie asked him.
/>   “Walk outside, Tokyo. Let me holla at you,” Kauzie said to me. I didn’t move afraid of what he might do. Kauzie was short-tempered. Folks say all island men were like that, and they were also possessive.

“Please don’t do this here,” I said to him with my voice shaking.

“Are you scared of this nigga?” Geechie asked me laughing. Kauzie looked at him. His jaw tightened up then he bit his bottom lip. He was about to explode.

A man approached us. “Excuse me, you guys have to leave. Y’all are disturbing the costumers and we don’t want any problems, so please just leave,” the middle-aged manager said to us.

I walked out with Kauzie and Geechie following behind me.

“It’s not even like that, Kauzie,” I said to him once we got outside.

“Yo, you need to chill the fuck out,” Geechie said to Kauzie. Kauzie cocked back slamming his fist into Geechie’s face. By the time Geechie realized Kauzie hit him, he was already on the ground. I tried pulling Kauzie off of him.
