  “Shit,” he panted.

He then wrapped his hand over hers and began to slide their joined hands back and forth.

“Squeeze a little harder,” he groaned as he sped up their pace.

  “Like that?” she questioned.

“Oh yeesssss,” he hissed. “Just like that.”

In a matter of seconds, he was wrenching himself away from her grasp. Turning slightly to the side, he spilled himself into the water and shook as the orgasm made its way through him.

“Was that ok?” Katie asked tentatively.

“Oh god, that was far better than ok. I can’t believe you did that for me,” he sighed as he turned and pulled her back into a hug.

She giggled and blushed, “There’s a lot we can do and still not sleep together, you know? I mean, I’m not a nun or anything.”

“Yeah, but…I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, that’s all,” he shrugged and pecked her on the lips.

“I’ll tell you if I am,” she kissed him back. “You ready to head back?” she asked as she shivered in his embrace. “I’m kinda ready for dinner and I bet they all wonder where we are.”

“Sure,” he grinned. “You gonna let me see you climb out of the water this time? I mean…I think we’re a little closer now, you did just have your hand in my pants.”

“Ugh…whatever,” she tossed over her shoulder as she went to pull herself out of the water.

  oooooooo

When they got back to the campsite, Matt was busy cooking several perch over a blazing campfire.

“We had a good day fishing,” Anthony nodded in the direction of the fire. “Should be plenty for everyone.”

“Sweet,” Patrick grinned and plopped down on a chair.

“What happened to your hair,” Sam looked wide-eyed at Katie.

Katie shrugged and rushed to get into her tent. Her underwear was still wet under her shorts, and it was growing very uncomfortable.

“What are you doing?” Hannah called as she entered the tent.

“Do you think you could knock or something?” Katie glared.

“And what would I knock on?” Hannah smirked. “Besides, I’ve seen you naked, remember?”

“That’s beside the point, you keep sneaking up on me,” Katie huffed. “Do you mind…I want to change.”

Hannah turned so that her back was to Katie, “Go ahead. I’ll wait.”

Katie quickly changed into some dry shorts and pulled one of Patrick’s hoodies over her head.

“Why are you so wet?” Hannah giggled.

“We went swimming,” Katie shrugged nonchalantly.

“Oh, and where did this happen?” Hannah smirked.

“Oh Hannah, it was a beautiful waterfall. We hiked to this ridge and there it was,” Katie sighed.

  “Sounds romantic,” Hannah sighed wistfully.

  “It was,” Katie grinned.

  “And…what else,” Hannah prodded.

“Nothing,” Katie moved to leave the tent.

“Doesn’t look like nothing,” Hannah pointed to the now visible hicky on Katie’s neck.

Katie blushed and rubbed her hand across it, “As much as I love being able to talk to you, some things are none of your business, Hannah.”

“Well, that’s not going to rub off,” Hannah giggled. “You better cover it before Matt sees it. He’s going to give you two hell over it.”

After finishing dinner, the six decided to call it an early night. Each member of the group headed to their tent. Patrick held the flap open for Katie to enter first. The night air seemed much cooler than the night before and Katie shivered as she sat down on her sleeping bag.

“Here’s the flashlight if you need it to see,” Patrick handed it to her.

“Thanks, I just want to climb in and warm up. I’m freezing,” her teeth chattered.

Her hair was still slightly damp from their swim, and the loss of heat from not being by the fire was setting in quickly. Patrick glanced around for some extra blankets, but soon remembered they’d gotten left behind because of lack of space.

“Do you trust me?” he glanced over at her.

“Of course,” she sighed as she turned to look at him.

“Come here,” he motioned for her to come over to sit next to him. “Bring me your sleeping bag.

Katie crawled over next to him just as he was climbing out of his sleeping bag. Patrick grabbed hers and began to unzip it. After unzipping his, he joined the two together creating one large sleeping bag. He stood up and spread it out on the air mattress they had and climbed in. He threw one side back and looked up her, motioning for to lie down.

“If you get in here with me, I can keep you warm. We’ll share body heat,” he looked up at her sheepishly.

Katie stood there with the flashlight looking at him for a minute before giving in and lying down beside him. As she snuggled into the warmth, she soon began to relax. Patrick tugged her back until she was flush with his chest and pulled the sleeping bag back over them.

“Zip up that side,” he pointed.

Katie reached over and grabbed the zipper giving it a gentle tug as she turned the light off and tossed it to the side.

“Is this better?” he whispered in her ear.

“Yes,” she returned as she rolled over. “This is much better,” she ran her hand down his cheek, cupping his jaw. “I’ve had a great time on this trip,” she leaned in and kissed him goodnight.

“Katie,” he mumbled, “You’re playing with fire.”

“I trust you,” she whispered as she kissed him again and pressed her body into his.

Patrick reached up to cradle her head as he wrapped his other arm around her waist, tugging her so she was flush with him. She could feel his erection pressing against her lower belly as his hips flexed. His fingers trailed down her back, finally coming to pause on her backside. As he squeezed it gently, he pulled her thigh up and wrapped it around his waist.

Katie moaned when she felt his fingers dig into her hip. She lowered her hands and tugged at the hem of his t-shirt.

“Take this off,” she whispered as she began peeling it up his stomach.

  “Are you sure?” he groaned.

When she nodded, he released her leg to grab the edge of the shirt and rip it over his head. Katie ran her hands down his bare chest, tracing the ripples of his abs. His muscles quivered under her touch as his breathing picked up speed.

“Can I?” he asked as he reached for the edge of the hoodie she was wearing.

Katie closed her eyes and nodded whispering, “Yes.” Patrick leaned in and placed a deep kiss to her lips before grabbing the bottom of the hoodie and slowly pulling it up her body. They were merely feeling their way though this. The fact that it was such a dark night and neither one could actually see the other made Katie secretly glad that he couldn’t see her face because she knew it would be beet red.

When Patrick tossed the hoodie to the side and pulled Katie back into his embrace, he groaned in pleasure. In her lustful haze, Katie had forgotten that she was naked underneath it. Her bare breasts pressed up against his chest, and she felt a shudder of pure pleasure course through her.

“We’re not going to have sex tonight,” he gasped in her ear. “Just relax and enjoy this.”

Katie sighed and covered his mouth in a deep kiss as she pressed herself into him. His ever present hard-on made it known that he was beyond uncomfortable. The hand that was on her hip slid down the soft skin of her thigh and began to rub soft circles. Katie’s hand began to trail down his stomach and paused at his waist.

“Can I?” she pushed lightly at the band of his shorts.

Patrick nodded, “You’re going to kill me today, you know that right?”

“I want to please you,” she mumbled.

“You do baby. You don’t have to do that to please me,” he gasped as she slipped her hand in past the waistband.

As she gripped him firmly, all coherent thought left his brain.
His hips surged forward as his head rolled back in rapture.

“Oh baby,” he groaned. “What you do to me, it’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

As Katie began to move her hand, he covered her mouth with his. He could feel the orgasm making it’s way to the surface and did not want her in the way when it happened. He pushed at her to break the contact just as he grabbed his shirt to cover himself. His body convulsed as the pleasure washed over him. Katie looked on in awe as she witnessed him in the throws of passion.

When Patrick finally came down from his high, he rolled to his side to gaze at her. She was the most beautiful girl he knew, and he now knew for certain that he was falling in love with her.

He cupped her cheek and gazed into her eyes, “ I love you.”

“Oh Patrick, I love you, too,” she sighed as she rolled to press into him and kiss him again.

Patrick could tell that she was still turned on. He’d had his release, but she hadn’t. He had no way of knowing if she’d ever experienced an orgasm.

“Can I help you?” he whispered, thankful that the darkness covered his expression.

“What do you mean?” her voice shook.

“Have you ever had an orgasm?” he swallowed the lump in his throat.

“Ummm yes,” she mumbled and buried her face in his chest.

“From a guy?” he pressed on.

She kept her face buried, “No.”

“Can I help you then?” he kissed her neck.

“Ummm,” her breathing picked up as she began to kiss him back.

“Please?” he kissed her again. “I want to do this for you.”

“Okay,” she sighed giving into him.

Before she knew it, Patrick had her hugged flush with his body while he continued to kiss her neck and shoulder. When he reached her mouth, his tongue plunged in. He could feel Katie’s body tremble in his arms. He knew that this was new to her.

Desire coursed through her as her center throbbed and pulsed, crying to be recognized. She felt Patrick’s hand pull her leg back up to rest on his hip. As his palm climbed higher up her thigh, kneading the flesh, she began to kiss him with raw need.

“Relax,” he gasped in her ear as his fingers moved higher.

When he reached the edge of her shorts, he slipped under them and rubbed his fingers across her panties.

“Oh baby,” he moaned, “I can tell you need me so bad.”

As she felt him dip his fingers into her, she gasped in pleasure and rocked her hips forward. The feeling that ripped through her body was one that she’d never felt before. Blinding pleasure surged to the forefront, and she leaned forward and nipped at his bare shoulder.

“Don’t stop,” she panted. “Please don’t stop.”

He sped up his pace as her body began to tremble in his arms. Before she knew what was happening, a force she couldn’t describe ripped through her body.

“Let go,” he whispered. “Don’t fight it.”

When the trembling finally stopped, she collapsed in his arms, “That was…that was amazing.”

Patrick grinned in male pride, “I’m glad I could help.”

  Embarrassed she pulled away slightly.

“Hey,” he tugged her closer. “Don’t be ashamed of what just happened. We didn’t do anything wrong,” he kissed her lips lightly. “Two people can enjoy themselves and not have sex. I love you.”

“I love you too,” she leaned in and rested her head on his chest.

“Go to sleep. We’ve got to get up early tomorrow to pack up the campsite,” he yawned and hugged her to his chest.

Somehow they both enjoyed a much more relaxing sleep than they had the previous night.

  Chapter 7

  August 2016 - Goodbye

As she fought to hold the tears back, Katie glanced around the room at all the boxes and luggage. She couldn’t believe that summer was really over. Tomorrow Austin and her mom would be taking her to Columbia and her life would change forever. Her emotions were at war in her head. She was excited about the possibility of what college and being on her own meant, but it also meant leaving Patrick behind.

Tears pricked her eyes as she fought for control. She had promised herself that she was not going to be one of those girls who get all tied up in a boy. She kept telling herself that, but now the more she thought about ditching the whole college thing, the more it began to sound appealing.

“Knock, knock,” came a voice from her doorway.

“Come in,” Katie wiped at her eyes again.

“Patrick’s here to see you. He’s got some things for you,” Melanie smiled a knowing smile at Katie.

“Mom, I don’t think I can do this,” Katie whined.

“Yes you can. Patrick’s leaving for school, too, remember. You have the rest of your lives to be together,” Melanie hugged her and rubbed her back. “You’ll be fine, I just know it.”

  ***

When Katie entered the family room, she saw Patrick sitting on the couch with a box in his hands. He set the box down and stood to embrace her.

“I’m gonna miss you,” she sobbed. “I don’t think I can do this.”

“Yes, you can. We’ll see each other on school breaks, and I can come and visit you. You can even come see me,” he lifted her chin to look in his eyes.

“I know,” she sighed as she pulled back from his grasp and muffled herself while burying her face into his chest.

“I just…I didn’t think it would be this hard,” she stepped back out of his arms and moved to sit on the couch beside him.

“Well…I did bring you something to help with that,” he grinned at her and handed her the box. “Here.”

When Katie opened the lid, she couldn’t help but grin at him, “You did this for me?”

“Well, yeah,” he shrugged. “I figured that would last you until Thanksgiving.”

Patrick had gone through his closet and pulled out several of his old sweatshirts, some old hockey jerseys, some t-shirts, and even a pair of flannel pajama pants.

Katie reached in and put one of the t-shirts up to her nose and sniffed it, “It smells just like you.”

“That’s the point,” he chuckled at the look on her face. “Whenever you get sad or lonely, just pick up something from this box and smell it. I’ll be right there with you.”

She grinned a watery grin as the tears began to fall again. “I love you so much. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” he leaned in and kissed her on the forehead.

“Wait here, there’s one more thing you can do,” Katie jumped up and raced down the hall to her room. She grabbed her pillow off her bed and made her way back to the family room. “Here. Can you take it home and sleep on it tonight? Give it back in the morning when I leave. Please?”

Patrick laughed at the sight of her pouting, “Sure, just put it on the chair by the door.”

“You’re the best boyfriend ever,” she giggled as she bounded over to the door with her pillow.

  ***

When he returned the pillow the next morning, Katie was standing outside by Austin’s truck as the family was putting the last of the boxes in the back.

“Thanks,” she hugged him and placed a kiss to his lips.

He wrapped his arms tighter around her and deepened it. Just then Austin appeared behind them and cleared his throat.

“We need to get going if we’re going to get you and Hannah to your rooms tonight,” he smiled at them.

“I’m ready, Dad,” she turned toward Patrick giving him one last kiss. “I’ll see you in three months.”

“Yeah, three months. I love you,” he placed one last kiss to her lips and stepped back as the group climbed into the truck.

It was going to be a long three months, probably the longest of my life he thought. He stood there watching the truck disappear down the street until he could no longer hear the rumble of the engine.

  ***

“I think that’s everything,” Melanie smiled as she placed th
e last box in the small dorm room. “If you need anything, you call us, alright?”

“Yes Mom, I will,” Katie wiped a tear from her eye. “I’ll be fine.”
