Badass Dragons: The Complete Set

Then she noticed Sophie was moving towards her.
Cheryl began to back away.
“Please,” she said.
Sophie glared at her and revealed the ball of light in her hand. She launched it in Cheryl’s direction. Cheryl ducked and rolled out of the way of it.
Sophie chuckled to herself and then started firing more balls, one after the other.
Cheryl kept backing away, her reflexes barely dodging each one.
Before long, she was coming to the interior wall.
“Stop it,” she cried at her sister.
“Make me,” Sophie said.
She launched another ball, this once striking Cheryl in the stomach.
Pain radiated throughout her body. As she slumped she could still see Synrith and Jet battling one another. It was hard to tell who had the upper-hand.
“Enough,” Cheryl shrieked as Sophie hit her with another ball.
She fell face up and could see her little sister towering over her.
“I love you,” Cheryl said. “Don’t do it.”
Sophie knelt beside her. Her eyes were tense. Wild with emotion.
Reiko and Cassandra appeared over her shoulder.
“Don’t kill her,” Cassandra said. “Save her for Synrith.”
Sophie scowled and returned to her feet.
Cheryl’s vision blurred a moment, as she strained to see across the courtyard towards Jet and Synrith, who were still fighting one another. Synrith was on his knee and Jet was repeatedly slamming his sword into his.
“You can’t win,” Synrith roared at him. “You’re just making it worse for yourself.”
Jet finally cut through Synrith’s blade, slicing it in two. He stabbed his sword into Synrith’s chest and the Master Dragon fell over.
“No!!!” Sophie cried. “What have you done?”
Jet turned back to them, grinning. He threw his sword into the gravel and walked beyond them.
“Run away, vampires,” Jet growled at them. “Run far from here.”
Cheryl managed to sit herself up. He was looking at her now.
And they both knew he had won.
He had finally won.
Synrith was dead.
Wasn’t he…?
“AARGH,” Jet suddenly cried out.
Cheryl watched in horror as his sword slammed through his chest.
Jet collapsed in a quivering ball, as Synrith withdrew it.
He was standing on both feet, alive and unharmed.
Jet hadn’t won after all.
He had lost.
CHAPTER TWENTY
Tears flowed freely from Cheryl’s eyes as Synrith approached her. She kept her gaze on Jet’s lifeless body, still praying for a miracle.
Synrith stopped a few feet short. “Leave us.”
Cassandra and Reiko looked at each other, and then moved passed each side of Synrith.
Sophie stared down at Cheryl a moment, before retreating with them.
Then Synrith advanced.
He grabbed hold of Cheryl’s throat and forced her up the wall.
“Beg for your life,” Synrith said. “Beg me.”
Cheryl spat in his face.
Synrith recoiled angrily, and then slapped her with the back of his hand. He busted Cheryl’s lip and blood sprayed.
“I said beg me,” Synrith seethed between his teeth. “You gotta fucking beg after you chose him over me.”
Cheryl winced. “You’re so weak you make me sick.”
“What?”
“You’re weak. You’re not a man. This isn’t how a man behaves.”
Synrith eyed her carefully. “No it isn’t.” He then grabbed at her waist and forced her knees to the ground. “I’m much more than a man.”
She felt his hands quickly reaching underneath her dress and pulling down her panties.
Cheryl tried to scrabble away but he kept her in place.
She couldn’t believe it.
He was trying to rape her.
“Fucking cunt!” Cheryl screeched.
She kicked back at him and pushed herself forward at the same time. He slipped and fell to his knees. Cheryl started to get up, but he was right there, already on top of her. His hard and heavy penis slapping about her backside.
“You fucking bastard!” Cheryl yelled at him.
“Be still, slave,” Synrith said quietly.
Cheryl’s eyes searched in panic for Jet. At first she thought he wasn’t where he should have been. That he had gotten up.
But then her eyes found him.
Still on the ground.
Still playing dead.
What a horrible end it would be to her story.
“Just let it happen,” Synrith said, easing his way into her. “Remember it’s me. You love me, don’t you?”
“Not anymore,” Cheryl whispered.
“Well, you’re going to,” Synrith threatened. “You’re going to love me until the end of –”
His words caught him short. His hands loosened in their grip of her.
Cheryl pushed him away and stood up as Synrith fell to his knees, apparently choking on something.
“What the fuck?” Cheryl whispered.
She pulled up her panties and moved around the side of him.
Then she saw who it was who had saved her.
It was Sophie.
Latched onto Synrith’s back, and stabbing him to death with the golden dagger.
Cassandra and Reiko hadn’t even noticed what was happening. Cheryl looked back to them with alarm, almost tripping over her own feet.
Synrith’s body crumbled, the words still gurgling in his mouth.
Then she looked over her shoulder and saw Jet starting to get up.
“Jet!” she cried and ran to him.
Now Cassandra and Reiko realized what was happening. And they weren’t happy.
“Synrith!” Cassandra shouted. “Synrith, are you –?”
Sophie stood up. She let the dagger fall from her fingers and walked towards them.
“What the hell did you do?” Cassandra demanded.
Sophie stopped in front of Cheryl and Jet.
“You were right all along, Jet,” she whispered. “There was nothing in that dragon’s heart.”
She bowed her head and walked past them and the two vampires.
Jet stepped out from Cheryl’s clutches to face them.
They both looked hesitantly at Synrith’s fallen corpse.
“Run,” Jet said.
Cassandra and Reiko immediately took off in fright, running past Sophie out through the courtyard’s entrance.
Jet turned back to Cheryl.
She wondered if he was going to tell her to run too.
Instead, he put both his arms around her and pulled her to his chest.
Cheryl and Jet embraced, the purple light in the sky shining down on them, and it was then, in that magical moment, that their lives took a turn.
This moment. This second.
This kiss.
They’d remember it for all eternity.
And their love would never be broken.
