Sweet Delights

Page 18

by P. L. Harris

She wrote her debut women’s fiction novel Perfect Lives in stolen moments, while sleep deprived and negotiating life as a new mum. Perfect Lives is a novel about friendship, secrets and jealousy. It was inspired by the idea that people's lives are rarely what they seem from the outside; that there is more to us all than the lives we post online.

This story is Lauren's first foray into romance. While her writing usually falls within the contemporary fiction space with a strong focus on female friendships, she does love a little bit of love, and is looking forward to delving further into the romance genre in the future.

Lauren is currently working on her second novel while juggling a challenging day job, demanding children and a laundry pile that won't quit. Drawing from her own experiences of motherhood, this novel is a funny and dark character study of two ordinary and remarkable women in the trenches of motherhood. Set amidst a landscape of postnatal depression and divorce, the story explores the savagery with which motherhood can change a person’s life and the friendships that can save it.

  D.D. LINE

  D. D. Line lives in coastal South Western Australia with her family, a curious cat, and two pups trying to dig their way back to Central Queensland—we're Sunshine State ex-pats.

Reading was her favourite childhood pastime. In her senior year, thanks to a crush on her English teacher and her desire to impress him, she developed a deep love of writing stories.

She writes Romantic Suspense, Paranormal Romance, Contemporary Romance and Speculative Fiction. Her short stories have featured and placed in KSP Writing Centre’s Spooky Stories Collections, Western Australia and Queensland Writing Group anthologies, RWA’s Little Gems Moonstone anthology and GEM – a 2014 Dr Liz Huf Memorial Tribute anthology.

She’s been a child wrangler, a mini lab photo developer, an admin assistant, a copyeditor, a proofreader, (no, she can’t edit her own work), and a wannabe baker who wishes she could sing.

  D. D. Line is the Aspiring Ambassador for Romance Writers of Australia (RWA) and a member of the Australian Romance Readers Association (ARRA). She loves hearing from her readers. You can find her here.
