He happened upon a white willow tree while he tried to follow the wolves’ scent back the way they had come. He remembered Aidan was once wrapped in white willow after being wounded in a fight with rival packs, and so he stripped bark from the tree, softened it in the river and wrapped it around his damaged leg and stomach, securing each makeshift bandage with a piece of twine.

As the sun made its ascent in the sky, and the forest birds began chirping the arrival of what he hoped would be a beautiful day, he smelled roasting meat, and knew he was nearing where the neighboring pack had hunkered down.

He climbed a nearby ridge, where he would have an undetected view of the campsite. There were butt-naked children running around in wild and reckless childish abandon, and smoke rising from the huge caldron that would feed the pack. It sat bubbling just outside the Alphas’ hut in the middle of the camping ground.

Seth knew that if he stood a chance at being allowed entry, he would have to get the attention of an alpha. The law of the wolves of the forest was that, unless invited, any wolf from a rival pack would be killed on sight if an alpha did not say otherwise. And though his wounds were healing, albeit slowly, he knew he would not survive another attack by even a single wolf, much less that of a group of wolf guards.

The blood that slowly ran down the edge of his leg reminded him he needed help immediately, and like an answer to his prayers, he saw one of the alphas, marked by the wolf skull headdress he wore, step out of his hut and head toward the river.

Alphas were usually followed by their omegas, except for when it was time for war, but this alpha went alone. Seth waited a few minutes to see if anther alpha would follow, but none emerged, so he figured this was the perfect opportunity to make his case, and do it well.

It was the time to sink or swim, but if he was to sink, it would mean his death.

He gingerly made his way, bleeding and battered, down from his viewpoint to where fate awaited him.

  Chapter 3

Seth made it as far as a few feet from the Alpha before the growls of his guards sounded behind him. He mustered what little strength he could and made a dash for the alpha. The last thing he saw before unconsciousness, borne of pain and blood loss, overtook him was a pair of fiery red eyes and long teeth, belonging to a brown wolf inches away from his throat. He could do nothing but await his death.

“Stop!” he heard a voice shout, just before the jaw latched onto his throat.

Sometime later, he was awakened by soft, gentle hands roaming his nakedness; it was a strange, but sensual and welcomed feeling. The smell of lavender woke his senses up, and with it he felt the pain in his abdomen.

“Do not try to move,” a deep masculine voice said to him. “You are still healing.”

He opened his eyes to look into the blackest eyes he had ever seen, but strange enough, they spoke of nothing but softness beneath the surface of the buffed body and steel jaw line of the face they were set in. The man’s hand eased the bandage over the wound and gently applied another layer of white paste, before running down the length of his body, caressing his injured leg and then moving back up to rest on his torso.

Seth’s cock twitched in response to the attention his body was getting, and he immediately wished the alpha would give it some attention.

“I am Xavier,” the alpha said. “You will rest here until you are well enough, and then we will decide what to do with you.”

“If you are going to kill me, why wait until I am well?” Seth asked, more out of the need to keep Xavier with him a while longer. The sound of his voice was deeply comforting, and his caresses eased the pain of deeper emotional scars.

“Who said anything about killing you?” Xavier moved once more to his side and granted him his silent wish. Seth closed his eyes as Xavier trailed his fingers over his legs once more. This time Xavier’s hands cupped his balls and gently massaged them before gripping the shaft of his cock, which was eagerly begging for some attention.

As Xavier placed a little pressure and stroked his cock, Seth ran his hand in appreciation over the bare torso of the man’s chest, feeling the muscles spasm with his caress.

“I am sure there are better ways to punish you for breaching our borders, little wolf,” Xavier said and left.

Seth felt his absence the minute he was gone, and wanted nothing more than to follow after him; but he was in no position to do so, and he had no idea what dangers waited for him on the outside of the tent.

Guards entered on Xavier’s exit, and Seth sat up slightly to take them in. They all carried shield and spears, and from stories of war he had heard over the years, he knew these spears were tipped with a lethal poison. Up until then he had not known which clan he had stumbled into, but the dark tattoos of ancient runes that the guards wore on the left sides of their face told him that he was in the midst of the legendary Margois pack. They were known for their brutality and instincts to kill first and ask questions later, which explained why the black wolf might have attacked him earlier.

No one had ever been able to breach their borders before, and the few times his original pack had gone up against them, his pack had suffered huge losses. He warily eyed the guards, who stared menacingly at him, no doubt resenting the uninvited guest. Seth had no doubt that the moment the alpha gave the order, he would be ripped to shreds, his memory nothing more than that of the traitor who had run away from his pack.

His head started to hurt, then and he felt the overwhelming need to sleep. He gave one last glance at the faces of the guards, wanting to memorize every line and frown of the men who could just as soon be his executioners. The one who stood closest to the edge of his bed caught his attention, because his eyes were the same black of the alpha who had just stepped out, and he found that they looked at him with sympathy. It was a strange realization, but the slight smile the young man gave him told him that he had at least one friendly on the inside of this war zone.

Seth lowered his head back to the headrest and pulled the fur over his naked body, feeling a shiver run through to his entire core.

“You need to let the wound breathe,” the guard who had just smiled at him said. “You will heal faster.”

Seth lifted his head once again and stared at him in a silent thank you.

“Don’t speak to him!” One of the other guards growled and took a menacing step towards where Seth laid, the yellow band painted on his right arm telling him that he was the general of the group. The guard who had offered Seth advice glared at the general in insolent defiance, never lowering his gaze in respect as was customary. They had a stare-down for what seemed like hours, the tension in the tent so thick that Seth could not breathe. He expected someone to be gutted right then and there, but they thought better of it. The general stepped back in line, and the blacked-eyed youth smiled in victory.

Seth figured then and there that the reason he could get away with that was because he might be one of the sons of the alphas. He remembered in his clan that the sons born to the alphas were allowed to get away with everything short of murder. They were born with a sense of entitlement that was nauseating to say the least, and more than one had tried to have Seth in ways only the alphas could. Had he ever given in to them, he would have paid with his life.

Seth looked at the black-eyed wolf that winked at him, and was undecided as to whether he was a friend, or a disaster waiting to happen. Though his body screamed for rest, Seth was too anxious to fall asleep, and so laid there in complete stillness, staring at the ceiling of the roof and listening to the noise of the pack village as they all carried on with their daily activities.

Hours later, he was awakened by a gentle shake on his shoulders. He was not aware he had even fallen asleep.

“It’s time to go wash this off you,” Xavier said to him. There were lamps lit in the hut, and he realized it was late evening.

“I slept all day?” he asked Xavier in surprise.

Xavier chuckled. It was a sound that was melodious t
o his ears. “You were beaten up pretty bad, little wolf,” Xavier said. “The body needs its rest.”

Seth smiled and sat up. The pain was gone, and he could feel that the wounds he had suffered were completely closed. The new muscle and skin that had re-grown in its place was a bit tense, but he knew that within minutes of moving around he would be as good as new.

“We are going to the river. It is usually warm and relaxing at this time of the night,” Xavier said, and helped him up off his bed with a supporting hand under his arms.

“Thank you,” he told Xavier, momentarily overwhelmed with gratitude for the kindness he had been shown.

Xavier did not respond beyond gently urging him out of the tent. On the outside, the guards who had been with him earlier stood waiting, and his eyes fell on the young black-eyed wolf, who smiled back at him in reassurance.

Seth sighed, inhaling the scent of early evening. The wind smelled like dried geranium leaves, and the stale scent of fires now dying down. The excited squeals of the children that had echoed throughout the camp in the day were now gone, and somewhere in the camp he heard the beating of drums and recognized the tapping of dancing feet moving to their rhythm.

Was it to be a celebration of life, or of his death? Xavier had given the impression that death was not his destiny, so he tried to think positively.

The gentle rush of the river as it made its way southward, breaking over the smooth stones that projected from its bed, was a welcome sound to Seth. He had always felt more relaxed close to water. Evan had once told him that it was a sign he was meant to be a free spirit.

  Evan.

The memory of his lost love tugged at the edge of his heart, but he shoved it aside as he waded into the water, which was waist deep. Xavier stayed on the edge of the riverbed, with his guards further back. Seth had half expected him to come into the water with him, but the alpha stood back. Seth busied himself with trying to wash the stubborn paste off his body, but found he needed some help to get it off his back.

Xavier saw that and signaled to the black-eyed wolf from the tree line to get in and help him. Seth’s breath stopped in his throat as he felt the calloused, but gentle hands washing the paste from his body. He could feel the young man’s breath on the back of his neck, and took a step back to feel his erect cock pushing between the cheeks of his ass. He was happy the water was just above his waist, so no one could see what was happening.

“I am Seth,” he introduced himself, in a low, hushed voice as he pushed back some more on the cock that was now snugly fitted between the cheeks of his ass.

“I am the one they call Xerion,” came the soft response from behind him as the hands continued to clean him.

Seth slowly rocked back and forth on the Xerion’s cock, being sure to keep his movements slow and undetectable, in fear of what his pleasure would bring on him.

“Enough!” Xavier called from the embankment, and Xerion did not hesitate in his response. As Seth felt his cock pull out, he felt empty, and yet the lust that coursed through his veins did not dissipate in the slightest. He closed his eyes and tried to calm down, and heard the gentle splash of water as Xavier entered the river, and in powerful strides was standing before him.

“You tempt me, little wolf,” Xavier said, as a strange blue consumed his once-dark eyes.

Before Seth could think of a response, Xavier roughly pulled him in for a kiss. The roughness momentarily scared him, and he stiffened in response, but the gentleness with which Xavier kissed him caused that fear to melt into the recesses of his mind.

Xavier’s hand slipped beneath the surface of the water to grip his ass and pull him into his groin. Seth closed his eyes and enjoyed the feel of the Alpha’s cock rubbing against his where they stood locked in a passionate embrace. His arms instinctively came up to and caressed the firm, broad shoulders, feeling the taut muscles beneath the skin and getting more aroused at the thought of it.

Xavier broke the kiss and trailed his lips down to his neck, and Seth could not help but gently nip at his ears. He thought to himself that such gentleness from such a giant was unheard of. Xavier took one of Seth’s hands and moved it to his cock.

Seth gasped in pure pleasure at the feel of the alpha’s long and thick cock pulsating in his palm. Even with the coolness of the water that flowed around them, he could feel its warmth, and he gripped it a bit tighter and stroked it.

He watched as Xavier threw his head back and moaned in pure pleasure, and then kissed him again. Seth took that moment to bring their cocks together and rubbed them in unison. It was something he had never been able to do with his past alphas-pleasure himself while he pleasured them. But Xavier’s increased thrusting in his palm was enough to tell him that he had nothing to worry about.

He brought his free hand to where Xavier’s nipples stood erect in the cool night air that kissed them and gently squeezed them, before breaking the kiss and lowering his lips to suck then nip at them- first one then the other.

“I must have you, little wolf,” Xavier breathed in short breaths in his ear, and then gently moved him back to the river bank.

Seth lifted his head long enough to see all the guards slowly turn their backs to give the alpha some privacy. This must not have been the first time that the alpha had taken his pleasure on the riverbanks, but Seth felt honored to be one of his chosen, if just for that moment.

His eyes caught the brief glint of red in Xerion’s eyes before he turned away from them. For some strange reason he felt sad, but immediately decided that he would not repeat the same mistake that had caused his hasty retreat from his pack. He focused on the strong but soft hands that roamed his body, and Xavier kissed his lips, demanding nothing but his undivided attention.

Xavier stood up to remove his red loincloth, which he had pushed to the side to release his dick while in the river. Seth took the opportunity to slowly ease the cock into his mouth, slightly sucking as he eased it further in. He enjoyed the way the width of it stretched the corners of his mouth. He bobbed his head up and down quickly, then slowed down, driving Xavier crazy. The alpha gripped the back of his head and gently thrust his cock in and out of his mouth before pulling out completely and gently pushing it back in until Seth could feel it touching the back of his throat. He relaxed his throat muscles, and the warm cock dripped precum into his throat. Xavier moaned in satisfaction and pulled out quickly.

“Not yet, little wolf,” the alpha whispered to him, his voice husky with the desire that burned through his flesh.

Seth was gently nudged back onto his back, and as Xavier came to gently rest over him, he felt the alpha’s cock nudging his opening. Seth immediately tried to turn over on his stomach, accustomed to the words of his past alphas, who had threatened him with beatings if he dared look them in the face while they ravaged his ass.

“Don’t!” Xavier said with absolution, and Seth hesitated. “Don’t ever turn away from me.”

Seth was surprised and uncertain as to just how he should take that command. He had been taught that, as an Omega, he was to always be submissive, but he was uncertain whether this command was a new form of submission. He searched Xavier’s face for the answer and found nothing but lust and tenderness in the alpha’s eyes.

Xavier took one of Seth’s legs, bending it at the knee as his cock slipped into him. It was a slow, and painfully sweet entry, and a moan escaped Seth’s lips before he could stop it. He opened his eyes to see if Xavier was upset with his utterance, but again found nothing but tenderness waiting for him there. As he looked at the man who could take him in the brutality and dominance that denoted his position, he felt nothing but consideration, and thought he must have died and gone to the heavens the elders so often spoke of.

Xavier pumped slowly in and out of his ass, kissing Seth and caressing him as he went. As the heat of pleasure built between them both, Seth grabbed his own cock and stroked it as Xavier’s thrusts became more hurried, but never violent. They howled softly in sweet release as they cl
imaxed together moments later, and to his surprise Xavier kissed him passionately and rolled to the side and cuddled Seth against him as they rode the aftermath of the climax, with Seth using his anal muscles to gently massage Xavier’s cock, which was still buried in him.

In less than a minute the alpha was erect and ready to go again. This time he allowed Seth to ride him to a climax as he stroked the young wolf’s cock. Seth collapsed on top of him moments later, totally spent and satiated. As Xavier’s hand stroked his back up and down, he dozed off into a light sleep.

Sometime later, Xavier kissed him awake as the crickets continued their chorus, the moon again dancing along with the running river, and Xerion stood over him with a blue loin cloth.

Xavier lifted them both back into the river for a quick wash before leaving him to be dressed by Xerion.

“Sleep well, little wolf,” Xavier said, as he walked off with his guards in tow, “come tomorrow we decide your fate.”

Seth thought the last bit was ominous, but had no response. He looked at Xerion, who refused to meet his gaze, and touched the wolf where his hands were busy tying the loin cloth around him.

“Xerion?” he whispered to the black eyed wolf.

“I hope they keep you,” Xerion whispered, looking into Seth’s eye for a brief moment before averting his gaze to the disappearing back of the alpha.

“I hope they keep me too,” Seth said with a smile as he gently touched the side of Xerion’s face.

He felt it bubbling inside of him, affection for the wolf who had spoken kindly to him hours before. Seth could do nothing about it. Evan had once told him that he was a hopeless romantic who fell in love too easily, and once again time had proved Evan right. He wasn’t in love with this wolf, but he could feel that it was a strong possibility that he would.
