“Fuck me…fuck me… Edgar… I’ve always been yours and you just didn’t see it. I want you to see me… to know that this will never end between the two of us.” She came and her body responded to the wild man that had become something that he probably wouldn’t recognize if he saw himself in the mirror.

“I’ve always wanted you, Rebecca. I’ve never felt this so overpowered and I know this is what I came for, but I never thought it was going to be like this.” His seed came out of him and he let it go with a scream that echoed in the night sky. He gave one final thrust, letting the rest dribble to a stop. Raymond was standing there with his arms crossed with disgust on his face. He was stunned into silence and had no idea what he was going to do about this. He wanted to confront them, but it wasn’t the time or place to make a scene. He thought that maybe he would give Edgar a moment to explain himself. He just didn’t know if he would be able to keep his anger hidden. This was a betrayal and one that he did not take lightly. There was this hatred that was burning inside him. If he had done something now, he might have made things worse.

Raymond walked away seething inside. He did realize that Rebecca was old enough to make up her own mind. If this was anyone else, he probably would have been a little upset at seeing his baby sister being defiled like that. This was worse than that and Edgar had given him his promise that his sister was off limits. He snuck away without them realizing he was there.

Edgar and Rebecca took a moment to bask in the afterglow of what they had done together. He touched her lips with his finger; tracing the outline and watching her pretty mouth suck on that digit like she had just done with his cock.

“I think that it would be best if we go back separately. We don’t want to raise any suspicions.” Edgar knew that it was possible that somebody had already noticed their absence. He could only hope that Raymond wasn’t ready to jump out from the darkness to confront him. He felt this certain guilt building down deep and he knew that keeping this from Raymond was not an option. They were going to have to be honest and he decided to take the bullet for himself and Rebecca.

Edgar walked back into the party and was immediately surrounded by a gaggle of women looking to get on his dance card. He politely declined and went in search of Raymond. He found him drowning his sorrows in the bottom of a tequila bottle. “You look like you have lost your best friend.” He didn’t know how true that statement was. He did feel a certain tension in the air and the look that he received was not for the faint of heart.

Still not able to put it into words, Raymond decided to let cooler heads prevail. “I’m just tired and it’s been a very trying day. I’ll see you at home.” Raymond had no idea how he was able to keep it together. He called for a taxi and he left Edgar standing outside pondering. It kind of made him happy to know that he was letting his friend stew in his own juices. He could suspect whatever he wanted, but Raymond was not ready to have it out.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen your brother like that. Do you think that he knows?” Edgar watched the diminished light of the taxi disappear into the darkness.

Rebecca came out of the shadows to stand with him. “I can’t see how he would, unless he saw through our attempt to keep each other at arm’s length.” Rebecca got this pain in her heart and it had nothing to do with a congenital heart defect. She didn’t want to lose what she had with her brother.

Edgar knew that the only way to deal with this was to be a man and stand up. He could smell Rebecca standing behind him. Her scent was very distinctive and made him smile to relive that moment on the golf course.

The next morning, Edgar found Raymond downstairs, twisting a glass of orange juice on the table, leaving a ring behind that would most likely stain through the wood. “I think that we need to talk.” This was not a conversation that he was looking forward to, but it was necessary to clear the air. “I’ve been meaning to tell you, but I just didn’t know how. I didn’t mean this to happen. I certainly didn’t do it to betray our friendship. You know me well enough to know that I would never risk what we have for anything.” Edgar sat down and saw the bottle of vodka on the counter. It looked to him that Raymond had started the party all over again this morning.

“I know what you are going to say. I thought that we had an understanding. The one thing that I asked of you…you couldn’t do. I’m in a position to ask what your intentions are. If you’re going to hurt her, then you and I are not only going to lose this friendship, but you are going to lose a few teeth. You might think that you can take me, but trust me when I tell you that family is the most important thing to me and I will fight tooth and nail. I will use every dirty tactic that I can come up with to make sure that you don’t walk away unscathed. What exactly do you have to say for yourself?” Raymond had gone over several scenarios and knew that there was really only one way this could end. He didn’t want to get into a fight with his best friend, but he would for the honor of his sister.

“I have feelings for her that go beyond just sexual. I know that you don’t want to hear this. I understand this can get ugly in a hurry. I feel something for her and it has only grown. I don’t know how you could possibly know, but I can see on your face that you do. I’m hoping that you didn’t witness our exchange and maybe somebody else did and was unkind enough to tell you.” Edgar poured himself one of those cocktails. He took a long swallow and that gave him the courage to stand up to his best friend.

“I saw enough. I’m glad I didn’t see any more. You haven’t told me your intentions. You have been flippant and you’ve done everything you can to avoid the subject. I’ve given you the benefit of the doubt and you’ve given me a lame story about having feelings for her. You have feelings for all of them, but that still doesn’t stop you from leaving.” Taking a deep breath, Raymond stood up and moved the chair away from the table. “You know what this means and I don’t think that I have to spell it out for you.”

Edgar really didn’t think that it was going to come to this, but he knew the best thing to do was to take his lumps. Edgar wasn’t fighting and he was letting Raymond get it all out of his system. “I won’t fight you, but I understand your need to hurt me.” Raymond had him by the collar with his lip bloody and his right eye swollen shut. He heard an audible gasp and looked towards the stairs to see Rebecca.

“Raymond… Stop this right now before it gets out of hand. I know what this is about and don’t you think that we can handle this in a civil manner. I know that you don’t like this situation, but it wasn’t like we did it on purpose. We fought each other every step of the way, but then things boiled over.” Rebecca went to Edgar’s side. She put her hand out to prevent Raymond from coming any closer. You’ve done enough damage.”

Raymond’s anger diminished slightly and he was able to sit down, looking at his bloody hand and knowing that his friends face had taken a beating.

Rebecca went over and knelt at his feet. “I would think that you would be happy for me. I never had a man show me this kind of kindness and whatever happens between us is between us and not you. I know that is not what you want to hear, but we are consenting adults.”

Edgar stumbled over and sat down with a heavy sigh. “I think that you should know the whole story.” Edgar and Rebecca held hands and gave their recollection in the best way that they could. They looked at each other lovingly. It was obvious to Raymond that they weren’t just friends with benefits.

Raymond was not happy, but said that they had to be sure about this. He reluctantly gave them their space and stayed at his girlfriend’s to keep from being underfoot.

For the next week Edgar and Rebecca were finding secret spots to be together. It wasn’t long before she found out that she was pregnant and breaking the news to her brother and Edgar at the same time was priceless. Edgar was beside himself with joy and Raymond was shaking his head and then reluctantly gave them his blessing. Raymond saw the elation in their faces and knew this was something that they both wanted. Neither one of them was trying to
find a way out and instead wanted to make a true family. He thought mistakenly that Edgar couldn’t be trusted, but he had seen a change in him and that came from knowing Rebecca.

They were married four months before the new addition came into their lives. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to be there for the birth, but he was there in spirit on Skype. They were very happy and committed to one another. He had even done the impossible and had given Raymond and Melanie something to think about. They hadn’t gone down that road of matrimony, but the ring had been bought. It was just a matter of time before Raymond was going to pop the question.

Edgar had found his home and it was in the arms of Rebecca and their new baby boy Edward.

  Tough Love

If there was one thing that Elora was good at, it was getting herself into trouble. For as long as she could remember, she had a nasty habit of getting into situations where she was in over her head and needed some sort of help to get out of it. It wasn't that she was a troublemaker that was actively looking for some sort of mischief to stick her head into, far from it. It just sort of seemed to... happen to her. Her friends and family would always tell her that it was going to get her in some sort of major trouble that she wasn't going to be able to get out of, but she had always waved them off, saying that she was going to be just fine.

As she stared down the barrel of a gun, however, she thought that perhaps they were right.

She had been minding her business, walking out of her work office and heading to the parking lot to get to her car and just go home for the night. All she had wanted was to put up her feet, kick back, and relax with a nice tall glass of iced tea for the rest of the night, but that was evidently not happening, as a man whirred on her and pulled out a gun when she was alone on her way to her car. She cursed herself for parking in such an isolated area, knowing that things like this could potentially happen.

At least his demands were simple; he wanted her money, all of it, and he was clearly not in the mood for playing games. She contemplated the pepper spray in her purse but knew that she couldn't move in time to get to it without being shot, something that she had hoped to avoid at all costs. She put up her hands in a placating manner, showing that she had no intention to pull a fast one on him.

“I'm not playing around, bitch!” He hollered, his voice echoing in the empty lot. She hoped someone heard him and came to investigate, and wondered if he even cared if someone did or not. “I said give me all your money!”

“Alright,” she said in a quiet, shaking voice. “It's in my purse, let me just-”

“Keep your hands where I can see them!” He said in a cold voice.

“But how can I give you my money if I'm holding my hands up?” She asked, exasperated with his antics in spite of the undeniable danger that she was in.

“Throw me your purse,” he said sternly, waving his gun in her face to emphasize his words, something she felt was entirely unnecessary. She did as she was told, slinging her purse off of her shoulder and holding it out for him to take. He snatched it out of her open hand with a snarl, all but tearing it open to dig through it. She wondered if he did his research and scoped out the area to see if the people in this area would give out a lot of money or not, and wondered if he even cared about that. She didn't have a lot of money, and hoped that what she did have was going to be enough for him to just let her go.

“Hey!” Came the shout of a new voice, deep and rumbling and not that far away. The gunman turned away from her to see who was shouting, which was probably his biggest mistake. Elora watched as a fist came flying in a tall arc over the gunman's head, connecting with his face and sending him sprawling. “What kind of scum robs someone in the middle of the night like this? Huh?” He asked the downed robber, who lay there clutching his nose, his gun all but forgotten lying on the ground. Her savior kicked the gun away from him and stood looming over her attacker, puffing his chest out as he breathed before kneeling down and grabbing her purse from the beaten man.

“I...” she stammered, her legs still shaking and her heart still pounding in her ears. She didn't quite know what to say or do, so she simply stood there and trembled, still afraid but infinitely grateful that someone had, yet again, come to her rescue. “Thank you,” she managed to croak, her voice suddenly hoarse from how tightly her throat was clenched. She felt like her throat was on fire and all she could do was spew out smoke to try and cool it, and she hoped that it would pass soon before her eyes started to water from the pain.

“Did he take anything else from you?” Her rescuer asked softly, his movements slow so as to not startle her. She shook her head, not trusting herself to keep her composure without bursting into tears from the roller coaster of emotions she was feeling in that instant. “Here, take your purse back and make sure everything's still in it, alright?” He handed her purse back to her gently, their hands brushing in the exchange. She gasped at the warmth of his hand and how strangely right it felt in that moment to touch him. She shook her head and put it down to having been a part of such a hectic scenario that she was just infinitely grateful to him for saving her that she felt this odd warmth in her chest for him because of it and dug through her purse to take inventory of everything as quickly as possible.

Thankfully, nothing was taken out of it, so she still had all of her things in tact. She lifted her head to tell him so, when she saw that he was pinning her attacker to the floor and pulling out handcuffs. He cuffed the man's hands behind his back and pulled out his cell phone, calling the police and reporting the potential theft. He informed them that the attacker was subdued and hung up the phone.

“I'll wait here with you until the police arrive,” he said as he tossed an icy glare toward her attacker. “I just want to make sure that you're safe.” She nodded to him with a shaky smile.

“Why were you holding a pair of handcuffs? Are you a police officer?” She asked with a tilt of her head. He sighed and shook his head.

“I'm actually a Lieutenant in the Navy Seals,” he said quietly. “Now, you'd think that I would have no use for a pair of handcuffs in my line of work, but you'd be surprised how many times I've had to cuff one of my boys to their bed just so they wouldn't go out and joyride while they were drinking on the weekend,” he sighed in irritation. “I may look to those men as my children sometimes, but good Lord do they have a tendency to do stupid shit all the time,” he shook his head again, and she tried and failed to suppress a giggle at the thought of this man running around and clucking his tongue at the younger men in the Navy that were under his command like a mother hen.

“I don't think I caught your name?” She asked with a tilt of her head. The least she could do was to thank him and use his name.

“I didn't give it to you,” he said with a chuckle. “The name's Lance,” he held out his hand for her to shake, which she gladly took. Though they only shook hands for a few seconds, the warmth of his hand lingered on her palm when they let go, sending unexpected shivers down her spine.

“My name's Elora,” she introduced herself next with what she hoped was a far more sure smile than the ones that she managed to give him until now. “I can't thank you enough for coming to help me, Lance,” she said in a near whisper while she felt her cheeks flush. “Things could have been so much worse for me if you hadn't stepped in.”

“Please,” he said with a dismissive wave of his hand. “It was the right thing to do. Think nothing of it.” He grinned lopsidedly at her in a way that made butterflies flutter in her stomach. Even if he hadn't saved her life, she had to admit that he was incredibly handsome, with short salt and pepper fleck
ed hair and bright blue eyes that twinkled in the night like stars, and stood out against his tanned skin. She swallowed as she took him in, feeling her face grow even hotter than it already was.

  She had it bad.

“I still appreciate it,” she finally said after she managed to snap herself out of her stupor.

“How are you feeling, though?” He asked with a concerned frown. “You're shaking,” he noted softly as he came up to her, laying a gentle hand on her arm. She hadn't realized that she was trembling until his steady hand rested on her arm, and it was only then that she realized that her whole body was shaking.

“Ah,” she said in a shaky breath. “I hadn't noticed, but you're right!” She breathed a laugh that sounded more manic than reassuring.

“Here,” he said, taking her hand and leading her over to the curb away from where her attacker was held. “Take a seat, or else you'll lock your knees and faint,” he eased her into a sitting position on the curb, and she wasn't aware of how much she needed to sit down until she felt all of her muscles relax from the lack of pressure. “It's alright now,” he was talking to her in a hushed, soothing tone, as if he were trying to calm a child from a nightmare. “Just breathe. It's almost over now,” he said, rubbing soothing circles into her back. “This must have been quite the ordeal for you.”

“I guess I'm just working out all of my nerves now,” she said, offering him a trembling smile. “I didn't realize how much I was shaking until you said something. If you hadn't noticed, I probably would have passed out,” she laughed. “That makes you my savior twice tonight, I suppose.”

“I'm just glad you're alright,” he said with a smile. “Really, no one should have to go through something like this. Are you alright to drive home? Should I call a cab for you after the police get here?”
