“No,” she muttered, looking up at him. “I can’t.”
The seriousness in her expression called to him, and this time when he angled his head to kiss her, she didn’t stop him. The moment their lips touched, Aaron knew he’d found home.
He didn’t want to be without her.
Not even for one night.
“Move in with me?” he suddenly asked, pulling away.
“What?” she gasped, shaking her head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” When he opened his mouth to protest, she covered it with her fingers. “I’ve been through a lot over the last six months. I think it’s time for me try the therapy thing.” She glanced away, like voicing that made her feel small.
He lifted her head. “And that’s okay, baby. If that’s what you need, I want to be there for you, too. We can go as slow as you want. Hell, we don’t even have to share the same bedroom if you’re not ready. Though, I think you know my vote on the matter. I just want you close. Doesn’t mean we have to rush into anything between us.”
She looked at him for several seconds, his chest growing tighter with each passing one.
Finally she said, “You know. I’ve never even seen your place.” She smiled then. “What if I don’t like it?”
“Oh, I know your want list. You’re gonna love it.”
“Really? How can you be so sure?” she asked playfully.
He leaned down and kissed her cheek. Then his lips trailed to her ear. “Remember, baby? I’m a professional.”
