Cheering and clapping greeted that announcement, but Wayne knew that his grandmother wasn’t finished yet. He knew she couldn’t wait to announce what he and Sonia had told her earlier.

“Okay everyone. I have one more announcement and then I will be finished.”

She looked over at Wayne and Sonia then she turned to her husband and held out her hand. He stepped up beside her and took her hand.

“I’m sure you’re all aware that our son, Harry, left this valley almost thirty years ago and never came back.” She brushed a tear from her eye. “I will never understand why he did that for not only did he take away Harold and my son, but he took away Wayne and Kelly’s father.”

She tried to smile through the tears, which were now streaming down both cheeks. “Mothers are usually much quicker to forgive than children can be. But I am happy to be able to say that both of my grandchildren, Wayne and Kelly have forgiven their father for what he did to them.”

There was a scattering of clapping that stopped as they all realized she wasn’t finished yet.

“Wayne had the most difficulty in forgiving his father. After all, he was named after him. But, I know that he has now totally forgiven his father. Not only have Wayne and Sonia named their son Harold Wayne Newcomb IV, but they just informed me a little while ago that he will be called Harry.”

With that, she sat down leaving Harold speechless for possibly the first time in his life.
