Jack's Christmas Wish

As she ripped the paper from the box, she noticed Derek stopped opening his presents and headed toward her. He sat down next to her, propped his elbows on his knees and watched her. “Is it going to jump out at me?”
He chuckled soft and low. “No. Go ahead and open it.” He nodded his head at the box.
She opened the generic box and found a bunch of packing peanuts. Clearing them aside she dug to the bottom of the box and felt a velvety box in her hand. She pulled it out and gasped. “Derek?”
“Well, open it.”
She opened the box revealing a diamond solitaire. Derek dropped to one knee beside the couch. “Lissa, I know it's only been a short time, but I know you're the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. Please say you'll make me the happiest man in the world by becoming my wife.”
Her heart was hammering away. She had wanted this, since she met him. Since the first night they were together. She loved him. She truly did. She looked to Jack who nodded his head. She looked to Derek who looked a little green. She put her hand over her heart, holding the ring in the other. “Yes. I'll marry you.” He stood picked her up, spun her around in a circle, then kissed her with a tongue-tangling-toe-curling kiss.
Jack laughed. “Ha, I knew if he kissed you like the French did, I'd get my Christmas wish.”
