The Demarcation of Jack

“Where’s the light for the tub?” Jenna asked.

“Let’s leave it off,” Summer replied. “It’s more romantic that way.”

“I can see fine,” Jack said from the tub, looking up at Jenna. “Are you getting naked?” he asked, completely surprised as he watched Jenna remove her suit. “May I join you?”

“Aba-solutely,” Jenna said, mocking Jack. She then stepped into the tub. “I’ve decided to relax and have a good time this fine evening.”

“Why didn’t I think of that?” Summer said. She stood and stripped down, playfully throwing her wet suit at Marc. “What are you waiting on?”

“I’m stunned. You two women are so intoxicating in this light. I think it might be wise if I take my suit off in the water under the present circumstances,” he said, laughing.

“Come over here and let me help you with your ‘cir-cum-stances,’” Summer said sexily.

  “Can we watch?” Jack asked.

“Or we could do our own show,” Jenna whispered, purposely blocking Jack’s view of Marc and Summer.

“You know what we should do later? We should get a few drinks and then go in the pool after eleven,” Summer said.

  “Why after eleven?” Jack asked.

“Because that’s when it closes. If we’re really quiet we can go skinny dipping,” she said mischievously. “I love swimming naked in the deep end.”

“Is that a metaphor?” Jack asked. “If so, I think we have something in common.”

“The hot tub is so relaxing,” Jenna said.

“This was an excellent idea,” Marc said, kissing Summer’s shoulder.

Summer turned around to face Marc and began to kiss him deeply.

Jack spun Jenna around on his lap so she could watch as the kissing played out in front of her. She closed her eyes. “Jack,” she whispered, shaking her head, no, but arching to his touch. He pulled on her nipple. When she opened her eyes again, she saw Marc and Summer leisurely watching them. Jenna quickly moved Jack’s hand away.

“Don’t stop on our account, please,” Summer purred. “That was very sexy.”

“Oh … uh … I, uh, never,” Jenna stuttered.

“It’s okay, Jen,” Jack said quietly into her ear. “What was that?”

“It sounds like people walking up the path. Did anyone turn the sign around?” Summer asked, moving off Marc’s lap.

“No, not me,” Jenna said as she scrambled to find her bathing suit.

“Nor I,” Marc said, grabbing his shorts off the edge of the hot tub.

“Nope, I didn’t either. But big deal, right?” Jack said.

“I’m ready to get out anyway,” Jenna said, reaching for her coverall to pull over her head.

“Oh, scusi,” the approaching people said, catching the foursome in a state of half dress.

“No problem ... or whatever it is you speak,” Jack said. “We’re leaving. Ciao.”

They quickly threw together their belongings and made their way back up the path away from the small pool.

“We should probably turn the sign around for them,” Jack said, flipping the plaque to the other side.

“Now it reads ‘unoccupied,’” Jenna said. “They were smarter than we were. Turn it back around.”

“That was too funny,” Summer said, continuing to chuckle. “Did you see the look on their faces as they walked up? I wish I could’ve understood what they were saying.”

“What do you say we save the food in the backpack for a late night snack and get a bite at the grill?” Jack asked as he reached for Summer’s hand and they walked toward the lobby.

“Sounds good to me,” Marc said, throwing his arm over Jenna’s shoulders.

  *****

“Hey guys, it’s eleven-fifteen,” Marc said in a mock whisper. “Shall we carry out our clandestine mission?”

“We need to be careful,” Summer said. “Let’s go back by the sports shack and sneak into the bushes by the pool. One at a time we can slink over and slide into the water.”

“Slink? What’s slink?” Jenna asked, chuckling.

“No laughing or giggling,” Summer said.

“By the way, I brought along a little ganja to make the night slowdown. We can light it now or when we’re in the bushes,” Jack said to the gang.

“None for me,” Marc said. “Summer, you may want to pass. You always get the giggles.”

“None for me. I’ve had enough to drink already,” Summer said, laughing into her hands.

  “Another time then,” Jack said.

Jenna and Jack followed Marc and Summer down the meandering sidewalk until they reached an area where the foliage filled in, thick with growth. They scanned the area and one by one disappeared into the shrubs. After making their way to the wall of the recreation center, they darted behind a stack of unused pool lounge chairs where they quickly removed their clothes.

  “I’m going over,” Summer said.

“I’m right behind you,” Jack said.

The two crouched down and quietly slipped into the pool. Summer flipped softly and swam to the bottom.

“Here, take my hand,” Marc said to Jenna.

They tiptoed across the pool deck and climbed down the steps into the water. Light from the rec building cast soft shadows across their faces. Jack and Summer continued to play follow-the-leader underwater at the deep end while Marc and Jenna sat on the steps at the shallow end.

“The more I spend time with you, the more I want to know you,” Marc said casually, catching Jenna off guard and causing her stomach to flutter.

Still watching Jack and Summer, she said, “I’ve been thinking about you as well and it frightens me.” She drew her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them.

  “Why should it frighten you?”

“I’m afraid of how it’ll affect Jack and me, and I do love him,” she said, turning her head sideways and laying her cheek on her knees. “It’s playing with fire. I know that.”

“So what do you want to do?” he said, sliding closer to her so that their hips touched.

  “I’m confused.”

“Jack doesn’t seem confused,” he said, flipping his head toward the deep end.

Jenna watched Jack and Summer holding onto the edge talking. She couldn’t hear their conversation, but in the dim light, she could see the beads of water glistening in Summer’s hair and Jack’s bright charismatic smile. They seemed like good friends out playing, talking, enjoying each other’s company. She watched Jack touched her face and Summer drop under the water in response. Jack followed and the two disappeared for a few moments only to surface next to one another again. She could hear Jack chuckling.

Marc moved behind Jenna holding her around the waist. “I’m very intrigued by you,” he whispered in her ear.

She relaxed back against his chest.

“I want to know all about you. I want to know what excites you,” he said, breathing warm, moist air along her neck.

“You’re giving me the chills,” she said, quivering in his embrace.

He pointed to the other end of the pool. “How do you feel watching Jack caress my Summer?” he asked as he felt the curve of Jenna’s waist and moved his hand slowly over her belly.

“It’s not so bad. I like the way he lights up around Summer. She inspires energy in him … the way I used to,” she said quietly.

“Summer inspires energy everywhere she goes. She’s a wonderful woman and I adore her.”

“That’s confusing. If she is all that, then why do you need anyone else?” she said, making shallow waves in the water with her hand.

“I don’t want you to think that we run around with everyone that comes along. It’s not like that at all. By the same token, when we meet people we grow to have affection for and there is potential—we’ll pursue it together.”

“I don’t know if I can ever get to that place,” Jenna said. “I’m not sure Jack or I are cut out for it. I don’t know if the relationship could handle
it.”

“We haven’t found that openness makes things worse than hiding our feelings. It’s the same risk for you and Jack. Be right back,” he said. Marc slid past Jenna, gliding into the water. He made a short circle and returned, ending up directly in front of her. “New relationships are fun and…” he said, placing his hands on her knees to buoy himself, “if done properly and consciously can bring extraordinary new energy to your present relationship.”

Jenna stared at Marc as he placed his head on her knee. She scanned him for signs of deception. She listened carefully to her own heart and mind for panic. In that moment, she felt none. It all seemed so clean and made so much sense to her.

Marc took her hand, inviting her to swim out into the water. He pulled her up to his chest, embracing her and without speaking, asked permission to kiss her again.

“Yes,” she said, fully understanding a new adventure had begun.

Marc eased closer, gently kissing Jenna’s lips until all the lust and energy that had accumulated between them ignited and they both hugged each other tighter as he deepened the pressure, fully possessing her mouth and her mind. She could feel his phallus grow against her leg, startling her. As he released her from his grasp, she circled and swam back to the steps, wondering if Jack had witnessed the kiss.

Mounting the steps, she turned to see Jack and Summer engaged in a grinding kiss of their own.

“That was steamy,” Summer said, but Jack was scanning the other end of the pool.

“Yeah, there’s steam all over the place,” he said.

“Jack, look at me,” she said, placing her hand on his cheek and guiding his face to hers. “Does Marc kissing Jenna make you uncomfortable?”

  “Well … not irie mon.”

Marc swam toward the two of them, pulling up behind Summer. A moment later, Jack swam back to the shallow end. He and Jenna huddled awkwardly as Marc and Summer climbed the ladder and walked to their clothes.

Summer ran over to the steps and said, “I wanted to say good night and make sure you’re okay.”

  “I’m fine,” Jenna said.

  “No, I mean Jack.”

“Yeah. I think so,” he said, shrugging. “Thanks for asking.” He turned to Jenna. “Are we finished here?”

“Or just beginning,” Jenna whispered. She rose to mount the steps out of the pool.

  *****

Marc and Summer walked around the corner and headed up to their room, three floors above the pool area.

“I really like Jack,” Marc said. “He’s got this crazy energy about him—not insane, but fun loving. He’s a trip to watch when he’s being himself.”

“That’s what I was telling you. I like him for that very reason and Jenna’s a beauty, both inside and out.”

“I like her—a lot. I’m not sure why I have come to like her so much in such a short period of time,” he said, sticking in the keycard. He pushed the door open and felt drawn to the cellphone. He pulled open the drawer. “Nothing. That’s a relief. So…” he said, reaching out for Summer’s arm as she passed by him, “what would you like to do now, my sexy lady?”

“Let’s do something crazy,” she said. “Let’s go make love in a hammock.”

“Have you ever tried having sex in a hammock?”

  “Well, no.”

“Try to imagine a monkey humping a football,” he said.

She started laughing and said, “Great image. So, am I the football, because I’d love to be the quarterback. Call a few plays of my own.” She placed her hands between his legs. “Hike!”

“You’re so funny,” he said, chuckling. “Let’s go to the end of the dock.”

“That could work. Or back to the Jacuzzi or let’s do it on the balcony. We can close the sliders and be our own movie.”

“You’re on,” he said as she started stripping off her clothes. “Wait. Let me do that on the balcony. Let’s order a bottle of champagne and a platter of fruit and cheese. God, I love this place.”

They went two different directions preparing for the up-and-coming romp—Summer to the telephone and Marc to the balcony with the blanket and pillows from the bed.

He glanced back into the room through the sliding glass door and stopped to appreciate the petite person on the phone who wielded so much personal power. He laid out the blanket and pillows so she could see the moonlit Caribbean Sea. He knew she would enjoy that.

“They’re on their way. It was Daniel. He said if we were buying champagne it must be special so they would half-time the delivery. I assume that means they’ll be here soon.”

They made out for a few minutes until they heard a knock on the door that took them by surprise.

  “Who is it?”

There was a long pause and finally, “Room service.”

“I thought maybe Jenna or Jack,” Summer said.

  “Perhaps, hoping?” he asked playfully.

“No way,” she said, opening the door. “I’ve got plans for you, Marcus.”

Room service walked through to the balcony and placed the tray on the table.

“How did you … never mind,” Marc said, smiling and handing the young man a twenty.

“Now where were we?” Summer said, strolling to the balcony hand in hand with Marc. “Turn out the lights so we can see our reflection.”

“Done,” he said, as he stepped inside the door and flipped the light switch.

Marc popped the champagne cork, poured two glasses, and undressed Summer slowly. She sat cross-legged on a pillow, patted the other pillow for Marc to take his place, but instead he reached for her hand pulling her up and onto his waist. He kissed her deeply as he shared his mounting desire. She threw her arms around his neck and locked her legs behind his back. As she kissed his neck, he gently caressed her back with his hands. They stopped and stared into each other’s eyes and then looked at their reflection in the sliding glass doors.

Summer glanced back at Marc and then dropped backwards until her hands landed on the ground in a backbend. Shifting her hips slightly, he easily penetrated her and rocked back and forth.

“Oh, this feels so good but I want to see your face,” she said as she lifted her upper body, reaching for his shoulders. They embraced in a deep kiss, slowly finding their way onto the blanket. He rolled onto his back and she mounted him, rotating her hips for the full pleasure that comes from knowing your partner’s physique and knowing what buttons to push after so many years. She bent forward, kissing his chest and hovering over his nipples.

“Stop,” he said. “Not yet. Be still. Don’t move a muscle.”

She contracted and thrust forward, deliberately bringing on his climax. She leaned down close to his face as he growled through his release and she whispered, “I love you, I love you, I love you.”

He opened his eyes. “And I love and adore you,” he said. “You are a naughty vixen. I asked you to wait because I wanted us to come together in the end.”

  “Did you love it?”

“Yes,” he said quietly, looking at her face and touching the end of her nose.

“There are other wonderful ways to bring this girl home, you know.”

“It would be my pleasure to oblige,” he said as he rolled her onto her back.

“No, I’m pretty sure it’ll be mine,” she said as he kissed her upper thigh.

Marc knew exactly the right spots to hit as he lavished her with soft kisses that caused her hips to involuntarily strain upward. He reveled in her moans and the pulling of his hair as she climbed higher and higher, losing control until she called out her orgasm.

“You, you, you are so magnificent, my sweet love,” she whispered with closed eyes and a soft smile. “Oh my god that was just excellent.”

After Summer recovered, she got up and brought over the bottle of champagne. They shared a toast and a kiss. They lay quietly taking in the starry night skies and snuggled before falling asleep in the warm Jamaican breeze.

  *****

  Jack shut the door to
their room. “I’m so freaked out. This is like some weird dream. Are you sure they’re not swingers?”

“No. They aren’t swingers. They are … I don’t know … open is I guess the best term for it. They seem happier than any couple I’ve ever met. And I am attracted to them and scared at the same time.”

“Scared? Like they’re some kind of a cult or something?”

“No,” she scowled. “Scared, like it makes so much sense to me. Like, I find it appealing to flirt in front of you,” she said, turning to look at him. “I don’t know … are we doing the right thing?”

“How do you feel about Marc?”

“How do you feel about Summer?”

“I asked you first,” he said.

“So you like her,” she said, joining him at the reading table.

He bent over, and placed his chin on his folded arms resting on the table. “Is this an open forum?”

“Yeah, I think it needs to be,” she said, pulling her feet into the chair.

He laid his head on his arm and drummed the table with his fingers.

“Please don’t do that,” she said. “It distracts me when we’re talking.”

“Sorry, I was thinking,” he said, sitting up in his chair. “She’s cool. She’s sexy. But I don’t ever want to jeopardize what we have.”

“I agree,” she said, flipping the channel display card repeatedly.

“And what about Marc? I know you have to have feelings for him. Don’t you?”

“I’m not sure how to answer that.” She looked at the plastic channel display as if to read the schedule. “I find him attractive but … not so attractive that I want to risk our marriage.”

“Ground rules?” Jack asked. “I assume I have my limits but I’m not sure where they are.”

“Don’t you think it would be a good idea to know that ahead of time?”

“Well, let’s make some suggestions then.”

“Like, ah—as in no hanky-panky when we’re not together?” she asked.
