Lindsey laughed slightly, and turned her head to look at him. This time she took her sunglasses off and looked him full in the eyes. “I'm not a wallflower Evan. I've had to scrap for everything. I just happen to look like an innocent princess.” Putting her sunglasses back on she laid her head back against the chair. “But I can, and have had to, take care of myself. I don't sweat Bethany at all.”

“Well isn't that just terrific?” Bethany asked.

She stormed over to the liquor cabinet and stood looking at the bottle of scotch. Looking at her watch she shrugged and grabbed the bottle and two glasses. She strode back to the desk and placed the bottle and glasses down on it. Looking at Trevor she glared at him.

  “Well?!” She demanded.

Trevor shrugged. “Well what? What do you want me to do?” He shook his head and sat down on the couch. “I mean you're acting crazy...”

Immediately he regretted using that word. Bethany had spent a little time in a facility, and was very sensitive about it. She spun around and looked at him with a look that would stop a charging bear.

“What did you call me?” She hissed.

Trevor stood up and held his hands out in a peaceful stance. “I didn't call you anything. But you have to admit that you're not being rational right now. I mean why don't we find out what the will says? He might not have changed it in time... ever considered that?”

Bethany softened a little and turned back to the desk with a sigh. She poured the two glasses and came over to Trevor.

  “Yeah...I've thought of that.”

They both sat down, and he put his arm around her. They took silent sips of their scotch. Bethany leaned her head onto his broad shoulder and smiled.

“Yes...” she mused out loud. “I mean he was only back for a week or so before the accident...”

Trevor felt a tinge of unease at the mention of his dad's death. It all felt too surreal. Absentmindedly he stroked her neck gently. They took drinks and sat for another minute. The revelation of the will would undoubtedly change the dynamic of the family. A thought came to Trevor, and he frowned. He didn't want to think about it, so he shook his head and sipped his drink.

Bethany looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. “What was that?” she inquired.

Trevor looked into her eyes and felt color rise in his cheeks. Those damn blue eyes! Looking away he shook his head. “Nothing...just a thought.” Quickly he sipped his drink.

Bethany had leaned in tighter on him, and he could smell the freshness of her hair. She was staring at him intently, and he could feel her gaze.

“C'mon big guy...tell me...” She whispered as she ran a hand up his leg.

Despite himself he smiled. “Knock it off...” He said without conviction.

“What?” She asked with fake innocence.

Her hand had made its way to his belt and was slowly undoing it. Trevor could feel himself getting excited.

“It's just that you always have good ideas Trev...” she continued as she undid his pants. She set her drink down on the side table even as her other hand moved into his pants.

  “Hmmm...somebody is excited.” She breathed.

Trevor inhaled deeply and looked at her. She was staring up at him from her position on his chest.

Her hand was slowly stroking him, and she had a small smile on her lips. “How about I help jog your memory, and then you can tell me what you have in mind.”

Nodding Trevor sighed. With a smile on her lips Bethany bent over and moved her head down to meet his throbbing member.

It was a warm day, and Evan felt a dip in the Estate's pool would be refreshing. He thought about getting one on his own property, but hadn't yet. Now that dad had died, and the will reading was tomorrow, he figured to wait and see. More than likely Lindsey would get most everything, but Evan wondered if dad would give her the Estate.

Getting out of his car he grabbed his towel. As he walked to the pool area he waived at “Ronnie” the landscaper. “Ronnie” was from Japan, and had made a special section on the estate of exotic Japanese plants. Banzai trees, and assorted beautiful flowers adorned the section. Ronnie's real name was traditional Japanese, but he had always insisted on the American rendition. After waiving Ronnie went back to his plants.

There was a nice path leading to the pool, and a white 6 foot high fence surrounding the pool and deck. Many a barbeque had been held behind that fence, and Evan smiled as he thought back on some of them. Opening the gate he walked into the pool area. The sun was shining off of the clear water, and there was an instant glare in his eyes.

Through the glare as he squinted behind his sunglasses he realized that Lindsey was laying on one of the chairs. He turned and closed the gate, debating on whether or not to stay. Sighing he turned around and walked toward her. She was laying on her back with sunglasses and headphones on. Her black bikini was conservative as far as bikini's are concerned. Evan looked over her body as he approached. He noticed a couple of small scars, one on her tight stomach, and the other on her left shoulder. The scars were both about an inch long, and straight across.

Tossing his towel down on the chair next to hers, Evan smiled sarcastically. Lindsey looked up at him and removed her headphones.

“I figure it would look bad if I chose a chair on the other side of the pool...wouldn't it?” Evan asked and took off his shirt.

Lindsey shrugged as he sat down on the chair. “I wouldn't blame you Evan... and I also wouldn't lose any sleep.” She said as she looked at him from behind her dark sunglasses.

She didn't remind him of the angel that he had first laid eyes on when his dad had held the family meeting. There seemed to be a maturity now, and she wore it well.

Laying back onto the chair she said, “I know that I'm an outsider to the family...and that maybe you and Trevor are willing to give me a shot...but I gotta earn your trust. I'm okay with it.” She looked at him and smiled slightly, “But so do you.”

  Evan nodded. “Fair enough.”

Sitting back into the chair he raised the back so he was sitting up, but at an angle.

He began to apply sunscreen and mused aloud. “You don't think Beth is gonna give you a shot?” Grinning he looked over at her.

Turning her head she lowered her glasses revealing her blue eyes. Grinning back she joked, “I think she is more apt to shoot me than give me a shot. Don't you?”

Evan noticed Lindsey's eyes flick over his body as she raised her glasses back up to cover her eyes. I saw that... Grinning Evan nodded. “Yeah...she's a tough cookie.” He set down the lotion bottle and sat back in the chair. “Probably will be even tougher tomorrow at the reading of the will...”

Nodding Lindsey sighed. “Yeah...I don't think that is going to be a pleasant situation for any of us.”

They sat in silence for a minute.

Evan leaned over and nonchalantly asked, “But maybe you've been a tough cookie also...or should I call you a ‘chica’ instead?”

5 CHAPTER FIVE

Carmen moaned as Evan moved inside of her. She was a waitress for the catering company that prepared and hosted the reception cuisine of his father’s recent wedding. He should be glad that he was finally finishing what they had started the night of Roger and Lindsey’s wedding celebration, but he only felt numb. Indifferent, to be exact. Normally the conquest was a thrilling part, but the hunt, if you will, was the game changer. Evan liked the pursuit the most, and maybe the fact that Carmen had put up little resistance to his charms was the cause of the let down he was feeling. But that wasn't it.

He reached down and squeezed her perky breasts as he thrust. She was moaning in Spanish, and that turned him on a little. She was a very attractive woman and smelled terrific. She had a nice tight body and was meeting his thrust with enthusiasm. So why the hell was he so distracted?

  “Si...Even...Si...” She moaned.

He grunted and continued to thrust. Stopping he flipped her over and proceeded doggy style. At least I don't have to look at her face now...He thought and immediately felt ashamed.

What the hell is wrong with me? He continued and she was bucking against him, and it was clear she was getting close to orgasm. She was speaking Spanish at a rate of speed that would be tough to measure. Well...your dad did just die, and the reading of the will is tomorrow. He felt her tighten around his thrusting member and she squealed loudly with pleasure. A flash in his mind of Lindsey sitting by the pool in her bikini came to him. Oh yeah...then there is HER. Damn it...The image of her in her bikini, the look of her full breasts, and the way she looked at him caused him to get rock hard.

Carmen was panting and gasping as Evan thrust deep inside of her. Ignoring the sounds coming from her, he closed his eyes and could see Lindsey in her bikini. She looked at him over the rims of her sunglasses, and her brilliant blue eyes twinkled with mischief.

“Oh shit...” Evan gasped, startled as he exploded inside of Carmen.

The spasms racked through him and in his mind Lindsey smiled and put the sunglasses up to cover her eyes again. Carmen was twitching and moaning under him, and he pulled out of her.

They both collapsed in a sweaty exhausted pile. Evan was lying on his stomach, with his head in a pillow. He was gasping and sweat was glistening on his body.

Carmen moved over and was kissing his neck with quick multiple pecks. “Oh Even...you are so good! You made me cum so good!” She said as she applied the kisses.

Evan laughed out loud, but in his head he wondered how long until he could kick her out.

Lindsey walked around the great hall, and felt the loneliness of the empty mansion. She heard Rita washing the dishes from dinner, and made her way to the kitchen. Opening the door she made her way inside quietly. Rita had her back to her and was humming as she scoured a pan. Grabbing the scullery hose she rinsed off the pan. Looking up she saw Lindsey standing in the doorway.

“EY! You startled me Ms. Lindsey!” She cried.

Laughing slightly Lindsey walked forward to the cupboard on the left. “Sorry Rita... I wanted to fix a tea.”

Rita nodded and placed the pan in the rack to dry. “Would you like me to fix it?” She asked.

Lindsey shook her head and grabbed a chamomile teabag. “No I can do it...”

Nodding Rita took a towel and dried her hands, all the while looking at Lindsey. “You are not sleeping well, Ms. Lindsey?” She asked softly.

Grabbing a mug from the cup holder Lindsey shrugged. “Just...you know... kinda alone and all...” She said as she put the tea bag into the mug.

Rita nodded again and placed the towel on the counter. “It can be lonely here when it is nighttime...”

Moving around the counter Rita wiped it down. Lindsey had filled the mug with water and placed it into the microwave. As the water heated up she turned and leaned against the counter, watching Rita finish her clean up.

“Maybe I should get a dog...” Lindsey smiled.

Laughing Rita shook her head. “I no clean up puppy puddles.”

Lindsey laughed and agreed. “Yeah...there's that.”

The ladies stood in silence with the only sound being the hum of the microwave. Rita was looking at Lindsey with an observant smile. Lindsey smiled back, feeling a little uncomfortable. Rita nodded to herself and went back to wiping the counter down. The ding of the microwave signaled the water was heated, and Lindsey opened the door to remove the mug. Carefully she set the mug down, making sure she didn't splash any hot water on her hand. She steeped the tea bag for a minute.

Rita had gone over to the closet and retrieved her bag and car keys. She walked over to the door and stood for a second as Lindsey finished preparing her tea.

“Is there anything else, Ms. Lindsey?” She asked.

Shaking her head Lindsey smiled. “No... I think I can turn off the lights and all.”

Rita nodded and started to head out the door. “Well...Ms. Lindsey. Try and sleep well. It's a tough day tomorrow... but at least Mr. Evan will be there...yes? Good night.” And with that she walked out of the kitchen.

Lindsey stood at the counter holding her tea, thinking. What did that mean? “At least Mr. Evan will be there...” She walked toward the doorway and turned off the kitchen lights before exiting. Walking down the great hall she sipped her hot tea and smiled. Well...he is kinda like the protector. Maybe that's what she meant. But Lindsey couldn't help but remember how Rita
had looked at her. Had she been thinking something? Like...something was up with her and Evan? She made her way up the steps, careful not to spill the hot liquid.

Coming to her room she opened the door. Her nightgown was laid out on the bed for her, and she smiled. Placing the tea down on the nightstand she kicked off her sneakers. She really felt out of place here. Maybe she would move into the city. She pulled her shirt off and stood in her jeans and bra. Taking a sip of her tea a thought flashed in her head. Yeah but if I did that I would hardly ever see Evan. Crimson burst over her cheeks and she felt embarrassment crash over her. She felt something else as well, as she thought about him in his swim trunks by the pool. The tingle in her crotch was a welcome feeling compared to the pain and loneliness she had experienced the last few days.
