“Yes, I am, ma’am.” He took her hand and led her off behind a life-sized sculpture of a Chinese maiden balancing the world in her graceful hands. “I love you, and that’s not an easy thing for me to say. We’ve been seeing each other for over two years. Marry me.”

“Caroline will not be happy. I can hardly picture her as Mason’s stepsister.”

“She’s mellowed out some since she saw last quarter’s profits on the power cell. Anyway, the hell with Caroline. This is about you and me. Do you love me, Tish?”

  “You know I do.”

“Then marry me. If the kids fight, we’ll send them to their rooms.”

“That’s a deal. Yes, I’ll marry you, Angus.”

As they kissed, it passed through Tish’s mind that the destiny set in motion that day on the lower terrace had finally played itself out.

Mason and Raine, Paul and Miranda, and now her and Angus. Three couples, bound by one common thread.

The Threefold Law of the Craft had held true after all: Love sent out had returned Love, three times over.
