It wasn’t pain that surprised him, but he could feel his body going into shock at the assault on his stomach. He felt like he was going to throw up and asked her for a bucket. She handed him one and rubbed his back as he threw up. She handed him a wet towel to clean his mouth and removed the bucket.

“That wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be,” he admitted to her.

“You’ll be sore for a few days. I just removed a large object from you, and while you’ll be healed within a couple days, give your body time to adjust.” She turned to hand him the now clean and wrapped infant who was squeaking and flailing around.

He picked the baby up from her arms and cradled her against his chest. “Megan,” he crooned, feeling his eyes water. He was so full of tenderness for her.

“She’s hungry. Are you going to feed her?” the blond alien asked him, tilting her head curiously. “I can show you how.”

“I would like that,” he said, nodding.

The alien reached forward and lifted his shirt all the way off his now swollen man-breasts. She helped angle the baby’s mouth to his nipple. Megan latched and she instantly started sucking. His nipples tingled and while it didn’t hurt, it was the weirdest thing he’d ever felt. The baby sucked for a while, and then the alien showed him how to get the baby to latch on the other side.

“You’ll be fine,” the alien said. “Just remember to rotate sides each feeding and encourage her to open her mouth wide so she doesn’t hurt your nipples. Don’t be scared to re-latch her if she doesn’t latch deep.” The alien then kissed the top of the baby’s head. “Take good care of her. She’s yours now. I’ll be holding you to your promise of a boy for me in a couple of years.”

“Of course,” George said, teary-eyed. “Of course. Thank you for my daughter.”

The alien nodded. “I have to knock you both out to send you back down to Earth, but she’ll be in the cradle next to your bed when you awake in the morning.” The alien turned to grab a needle off the tray, intending to knock him out.

“Wait,” George said and put his hand on her arm before she could use it on him. “What’s your name?”

“I am Gabella,” the alien said. “You must go back now.”

“How am I going to explain this to Leon?” he asked her as she stuck the needle into his hip. The room around him grew hazy and dark.

The alien whispered, “Good luck with your baby, and with your partner.”

When he woke up the next morning, the baby squirming and crying in hunger, he jumped out of bed and picked her up to feed her. Leon came home a couple of hours later to find George sitting on the bed, holding the baby in his arms, and feeding her from his breasts.

“How… when?” Leon blinked, his briefcase dropping onto the floor as he stared at them in the bed.

“Aliens,” George said. “You were right. I don’t know how to explain it, but we definitely need to keep this quiet. She’s not an experiment for our planet. They are trying to save their planet. She’ll be pretty much human, except she’ll have the DNA from both of us as her fathers. She can have a normal life.”

“I don’t know what to say. You realize that Sam and Charles are expecting to pick you up tonight to deliver the baby.” Leon came over closer to examine little Megan, and George showed her off. She had all her fingers and toes and looked human.

“I’m willing to talk to them about her, but I’ll do anything to protect her,” George informed Leon, giving him a stern look. “I made a deal with the aliens who gave me our baby. They want to try again in a couple years for a boy. I agreed.”

“You didn’t even think to talk to me about this?” Leon said blinking.

“I didn’t have time, and they need both men’s DNA, that’s why they are using gay males. Say yes, Leon. We get our precious, perfect daughter out of this agreement.” George gently kissed Leon’s hand. “Don’t run away from us in a panic. She’s your daughter, too.”

“I—I—” Leon sat down hard on the bed and stared in awe at the baby. “She’s beautiful.”

“We both love you,” George told Leon.

“I guess the best thing we can do is take this one day at a time and see what happens,” Leon muttered, and then crawled into the bed next to George and the baby and just watched her for a while.

“Thank you for loving me and her enough to not run away screaming,” George finally said as the baby unlatched and fell asleep. He placed her back in the side sleeper and turned to face Leon and took him in his arms. “This is not how I planned on having a baby, but I have no regrets.”

“I don’t think I can regret something that’s so farfetched and out there, it shouldn’t even be possible,” Leon said, laughing quietly. “What’s one more weird twist to our life now?”

“You’re pretty amazing, you know that?” George said and kissed Leon.

Leon pulled back after a moment and looked at him. “Keep thinking that, because I don’t do poopy diapers.”

George laughed, but he was content. He could live with that.
