He should have hidden the glove better from Onyx. She’d let him boss her around so long he didn’t think she had it in her anymore to fight him. He’d been wrong.

At first, he’d been determined to kill her but now he knew he needed her. She knew where his glove was which was the key to his power. He needed the glove. He sure as hell needed it before Victor decided to challenge him for the position of alpha.

“Something to say, Victor?” Demitrus asked puffing out his chest. He hoped the werewolf would buy his bluff.

Victor shook his head. “No, alpha. Nothing.”

“Good, ready the next four who will go and spy for us.” Victor inclined his head and left to do as he was asked. Demitrus knew they weren’t sure if he had it anymore or not and was relieved when Victor decided to obey him instead of challenging him.

Two of the spies they’d sent at returned. “We have news,” one said nodding toward the other.

  “Well?” Demitrus barked at him.

The second spy lowered his face not daring to look at Demitrus as he spoke. “It was discovered that… Onyx took another mate.”

Demitrus forgot himself. His rage took over and he launched himself on the spy. He tore into the throat of his own pack member strangling him for what he said.

He nearly launched himself at the other pack member but the animosity and anger in the air warned him that he was pushing his pack too far. They would challenge him if he continued to kill their own.

Onyx had to pay for this. She’d humiliated him again in front of his pack. Taking another mate was the ultimate disrespect as wolves mate for life.

“I’ll have her in a collar at the end of a leash to pleasure you all however you see fit by nightfall,” he roared.

The answering cheer was not the bloodthirsty cry he was used to hearing from them, but what could he do.

  Nothing.

Not until he had Onyx back.

  CHAPTER TEN

“Welcome to the pack,” Darian said offering Onyx his hand. She stared at it unsure of what would happen. Slowly she reached up and took his hand. He shook her hand and released her.

“That’s it? You’re not going to make me submit?”

Darian smiled at her with his golden brown eyes warm and soft. “That isn’t necessary. I do want to talk to you about the Herod pack. Will this be difficult for you? To tell me numbers, strengths, and weaknesses?”

“No, not at all. I’m happy to help in any way that I can. I realize you will be in conflict with them because of me. I’m sorry and I understand if you’d rather I leave.”

Errol’s warm hand ran over her back. “We’re staying. No more running,” He said kissing just behind her ear. Hot shivers ran down her neck in response to him. It was so strange to be so turned on all the time by just the sound of Errol’s voice.

“I think your mate is right,” Cara said as she smiled at Onyx. “You should stay with us. Why don’t you, Angeline, and I go find you a new dress?”

Onyx nodded, too afraid to look down and see what had become of her dress. “Thank you.” Onyx followed Cara and Angeline toward one of the doors off the courtyard. She looked back in time to see Darian giving Errol a disciplinary look. “Will he be whipped for not being truthful to the alpha?” Onyx asked.

“Whipped? No,” Angeline answered. “He won’t, right?” She asked Cara. “Sorry, I’m still new around here too.”

Cara raised one of her blond brows at the two other women and then laughed. “Look, Darian doesn’t have to physically torture anyone. His Alpha voice is so strong that just saying he’s disappointed brings enough guilt and unease to the pack member that there is no need for more.”

Onyx looked between Angeline and Cara, with her dark chocolate brown eyes wide. “I would think you two would be more enthusiastic about having a true alpha running your pack. Do you know how rare that is?”

Cara and Angeline looked at each other.

“Should we be especially enthusiastic?” Cara asked.

“Yes,” Onyx nearly screamed. “There have only ever been four true alphas recorded in shifter history. To be a true alpha the leader has to love his pack more than he loves himself. Not just, most of his pack either. All of them. Every single member.”

Cara smiled brightly her posture straightening as she looked back through the windows at the courtyard where her husband was still speaking with Errol. “Is it terrible that now I want to run out there and just, jump his bones?” she asked with a laugh.

“Go ahead,” Angeline giggled. “I can help Onyx. Go before your little one wakes up.” Angeline shooed Cara away.

Cara grinned. “Thanks, Ang. I’ll catch up with you later, Onyx.” Cara dashed out into the courtyard. Both Angeline and Onyx were watching to see what she would do.

Walking quickly, she hesitated behind Darian and pressed a kiss to the back of his neck. Cara walked again continuing to the other side of the courtyard. By the time, she reached the door on that side, Darian was turning to follow after her.

Onyx and Angeline laughed as Darian dashed after Cara leaving Ian and Errol with confused expressions on their faces.

“So,” Angeline said as she opened the second door and walked inside. “Do you have a color preference?” she asked.

Onyx followed her into the room and found it full of closets. Angeline opened up a few of the doors. “These are the dresses and judging from the way Errol was looking at you, they’ll be what you’ll want to wear most.”

Onyx felt her cheeks burning. They certainly were an honest, outspoken pack, weren’t they?

“Any color will do just fine. Thank you.”

Angeline nodded. “I think this pale pink will be so lovely with your dark hair.” Angeline tossed her long white-blond hair over her shoulder and out of her way. When she turned back toward Onyx she tilted her head, studying Onyx with her pale blue eyes.

“Is something wrong?” Onyx asked as she accepted the dress from Angeline.

“Did Errol tell you anything about me? I mean, what I can do, my gift, I guess you’d call it.”

Onyx shook her head wondering if Angeline was a little bit crazy. It would be such a shame if she were. Her face was like porcelain, heart-shaped, and with her light hair and eyes, she truly did appear angelic.

“I have visions. I saw you coming, and I saw you in the boat on the waves. You almost fell out a few times.”

Onyx held her breath as she listened.

How could she know about the waves?

“Anyway, I… just wanted to say that….” Angeline trailed off. She twisted her fingers in front of her as if struggling with the decision to finish saying what she’d begun.

“Please tell me what you were going to say,” Onyx pleaded. “I need to know, especially if it’s going to help me and Errol, or our pack.”

Angeline nodded. “Just, no matter what happens, don’t lose faith in Errol. When you’re scared, just know that he is who you can count on.” Angeline frowned. “I know that’s kind of vague. I don’t know how to explain what I saw better than that.”

Onyx shed the old dress and then slipped on the new one. “I don’t know what you mean but I’ll try to do as you said,” Onyx answered.

Angeline smiled. “I think you will do better than you think. You look beautiful in pink by the way. Errol will be very pleased.”

Onyx turned and looked at herself in the long mirror on the wall. The pink dress was very pretty much too delicate for her, and too elegant.

“Don’t you dare take that off,” Angeline said pointing at Onyx when she reached for the hem just below her knee. “It’s perfect for you, and after all you got married today, right? Shouldn’t you be in a beautiful dress?”

Onyx bit her lower lip trying to contain her ridiculously huge smile. “I suppose I did get married today.” Onyx felt her body beginning to quiver with disbelief. It was too beautiful, too amazing to last. Having Errol back in her life after all this time? Being married to the only man she’
d ever truly loved?

Angeline put her hand on Onyx’s back looking into the mirror with her. “It’s terrifying, isn’t it? Realizing you have something so great that it can’t be described and then recognizing how fragile it is.”

“Yes,” Onyx breathed trying to hold back the tears that were beginning to swim in her eyes.

“Don’t waste time being scared. You’ve missed him so much. Go to him,” Angeline encouraged smiling at her in the mirrored glass.

Onyx turned and hugged Angeline tightly. It was crazy that she felt so close to Angeline when they’d only just met. “Thank you.”

Onyx released Angeline and ran back out into the courtyard. She kept running and leaped up into Errol’s arms, wrapping her legs around his waist and kissing him like she was starving for him.

  She was.

“Damn, what is going on in that wardrobe that has you all coming out hot and ready to go?” Ian asked looking back toward the wardrobe room where Killian had just joined his wife and was closing the door. “Fuck, there’s way too much sexual need coming off of you all,” Ian said backing away.

Errol pulled back from Onyx looking on after his brother. “Thank you, Ian,” he said.

“Yeah, yeah. Just wait and see who I pick to marry. You’re going to have to remember what a cool brother I am.”

“We will,” Onyx answered. “Whoever she is will be the luckiest girl there is.”

Errol’s hand dipped between them as she spoke. He found her pulsing center and began to massage her.

“Wow, too much for my innocent eyes to handle people,” Ian pushed inside the house with one hand over his eyes and laughing as he closed the door behind him.

Onyx held on closing her eyes and loving the feel of his touch. “I’ve pictured you doing this to me so many times,” she confessed between gasps.

Errol growled as his lust grew. “All I have to do is think of you and I’m hard, Onyx. I want to take you to my room and come inside you, over,” he pushed his finger inside her tight center. “and over,” Errol began to pump his finger inside her and added a second to ready her body for him. “and over again.”

Onyx gasped clinging to him as his knuckles pressed into her wet sensitive skin with the thrust of his hand. “I need you, Errol.” She pleaded moving against his hand.

His jaw tightened. The growl of desire vibrating through her body. Errol took her over to the bench. His hands were strong and firm on her body as he put her on the bench on her hands and knees.

He moved behind her, his fingers biting into her hip as though he couldn’t bear for her to move away. Onyx looked over her shoulder at him as he freed his impressive erection. Their eyes met as she licked her lips.

“Fuck, you’re going to make me lose it before I even get inside you.” He shoved her dress up and over her ass. His cock pressed between her cheeks. He groaned gripping her waist tightly again.

Onyx wiggled her hips trying to get him inside, she was aching so badly for him she couldn’t wait. “Errol, please,” she pleaded.

His shaft sank into her pussy with a powerful thrust. Onyx cried out at the thrill and power of it. Her muscles flexed and fluttered around him as she pushed back against him. “More, don’t stop.”

His hips bucked against her. Errol’s huge cock stretching her as he sank in and out of her. He squeezed her ass and then wrapped an arm beneath her around her stomach to pull her down harder on his dick as he pounded into her heat.

Onyx cried out, arching her hips. She was already so hot for him. Right on the cusp of falling over the edge, she turned her head back enough that she could watch him as he thrust into her.

A scream broke from her lips as the explosion of her pleasure shook through her system like an earthquake. Errol kissed a trail up her back as he pulsed inside her. “You’re so beautiful, Onyx,” he whispered with a sound of awe.

Onyx began to crawl away from him so she could get up and then ride him but Errol misinterpreted her moving away. His hand caught hold of the back of her hair, and the other was around her waist pulling her back against him with both.

The feeling of being completely at his mercy turned her on more than she could have ever guessed.

“Where are you going, love?” He asked reaching around to stroke and circle her clit.

Onyx gasped as the spring within her tightened further. He pulled her hair so that she was standing on her knees with his chest against her back. Errol released her hair to fondle her breasts. He flicked and tugged her nipples making her squirm to get more of him.

He kissed the place at the back of her neck that used to be a place of pain. Her skin under his tongue was tingling, heating, and aching for more. Onyx reached back putting her hand at the back of his head, encouraging him to keep going.

“Onyx,” he groaned out her name as he slid deep inside her.

She reached back grabbing his sides. Onyx squeezed him and pushed her ass back against him to draw him deeper inside.

The moan of need that came out of Errol had Onyx panting. Her knees were weakening as tiny jolts of ecstasy zigzagged through her core.

Errol lift her, taking her to the wall nearest them.

She braced herself with her hands out in front of her on the stone and mortar wall. It was cold under her hot palms, making the heat that was coming out of Errol all the better.

He growled as his hips began to buck with abandon. “Come with me Onyx,” he said as he reached in front of her and between her legs. Errol’s fingers found her clit and began to circle. “Mmmm,” came out in another growl that vibrated through her system as she cried out.

Onyx let her head fall back as the heated, all-consuming sensations of her orgasm sang out from every cell of her body. Errol grunted as he tried to hold out, but as she whimpered and gasped he couldn’t.

His shaft seemed to grow even more as his cock shot Errol’s thick, heated, come deep inside. Prolonging her climax as he continued to thrust and fill her with his seed.

Errol’s movements began to slow, his breathing was fast, like hers. She could feel his heart beating in his chest at her back and leaned into him.

“I can’t believe how good that felt,” she breathed. “Better than I could’ve ever imagined.”

He kissed her temple, her lips, and the curve of her neck. “It feels so good, I want to live here. I want to be connected to you, always,” he grinned against her skin. “You don’t mind living on my lap, right?”

Errol nibbled at her shoulder as she laughed.

“I could make this work,” she licked his ear and then caught it in between her teeth.

“Keep doing that and I’ll be ready to go again before I even pull out.”

At the other end of the fortress, they both heard Ian growl out an exasperated sound before he said. “That’s it, I’m going for a run. It’s like listening to a fucking orgy in here.”

Onyx covered her smile trying not to laugh.

  Errol didn’t even try.

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

“There he is,” Pelari said his crooked smile showing his back, yellow, and brown teeth. “You ready?”

Victor considered the wolf as he raced down the mountainside. “Why is he alone? The Rizer pack knows we are just beyond their borders. It could be a trap.”

Vlad leaned forward and spit on Victor’s foot. “You too chicken shit to grab him? Fine. I’ll do it on my own.”

He looked down at his foot and then back up at Pelari. The disgusting creature knew no bounds. Reaching out Victor grabbed the side of Pelari’s head and pushed him down to the ground, using the other side of Pelari’s face to wipe the spit off his foot.

“Fuck, I was kidding,” he whined. “Let me go.”

Victor grimaced at the wolf at his foot. Pelari was not unlike the rest of Herod pack. All broken men who’d joined the pack rather than die and now they all wish they had taken the option of death. They were existing and acting like rabid animals just to try and feel something again.

bsp; Anything.

It was only a matter of time before he would become the same as them, heathens who killed, raped, plundered, and would eventually wipe out the race of humans that had just become the minority to the shifters over this past year.

“He was part of your pack before you joined the Herod pack, wasn’t he?” Victor asked Pelari still holding him down because he knew Pelari wouldn’t answer unless he was forced.

Vlad struggled to get up but was no match for Victor’s strength. “What the hell difference does that make? I’m a Herod wolf now. Let me up dammit.”

What difference does it make? He is your real family and you’re hunting him for Demitrus?

“You don’t care that he’ll die?”

“He never came back and gave a shit about me, did he? Fuck you, Victor.”

Minus and Layna arrived at the lookout where Victor and Pelari were stationed to watch who came and went from the Rizer Fortress.

“Problem?” Layna asked with her amber brown eyes trained on Vlad.

Victor released Pelari. “Not anymore, he cleaned up his mess. Didn’t you Pelari?”

Pelari brushed the dirt from his chest and flipped off Victor. “I got us a mark. He’s alone and he’s valuable like you won’t believe.”

“Let’s get him,” Minus said with drool slipping down his chin. Salivating for the kill.

Layna leaped off the rock as she shifted, landing in a run. Pelari was next, wanting the capture to bolster his position with Demitrus.

Minus pointed out toward the forest. “You’re helping bring him in, Victor. He’s bigger than you even. We’ll need all of us.”

That wasn’t true. It would only take two of the Herod pack because they were so bloodthirsty and because they wanted to die. They took risks no one else did, hoping that the next fight or battle they launched into would bring with it a swift death.

Minus had taken notice when Victor did his best to skip out on the raiding and killing. The special interest Minus had decided to take with Victor was wearing thin.
