I place my finger under her chin, and tip her face towards mine. “I promise. I’ll look after you Precious. Trust me.”

I hold her hand as she wades into the water up to her waist. She tugs on my arm. “This is far enough; I don’t want to go out any deeper.” Her eyes are open wide. She grips my hand.

I dip my head and place my lips to her ear. “Trust me. I’ll keep you safe.” I slip my arms underneath her armpits, and clasp my hands across her chest. I feel her muscles stiffen.

  “What are you doing?”

“I’ve got you. Relax, Pee Aitch. Kick your legs,” I tell her, as I pull her out deeper into the water. She begins kicking like mad, splashing us both, I can’t help laughing. When the water is up to my chest, I stop and scoop her into my arms. I hold her so that she’s facing me. She wraps her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. “Hold on, Precious,” I say, as I lean back and kick my feet up from the sand. I float in the water with Pia lying on top of me. Her fingers dig into my shoulders; her body is as rigid as a board. I talk to try to distract her. “Have you got any plans for after uni, Pee Aitch? What do you want to do with your life?”

Pia slowly lifts her head. “I don’t know. I just want to make a living doing something I love.”

“Maybe we can start our own band.” I smile at her. “Can you sing?” She’s still lying on top of me, stiff and unmoving.

“No, but you can. You have an awesome voice.”

A big grin spreads across my face. “Thanks, Precious. It’s sorted then. I’ll sing and play guitar, and you can play your sax. What shall we call ourselves?”

“Foolish Optimists.” She giggles, and I feel her body begin to relax around mine. She rests her head on my chest. We float, and I block out everything except me and Pia. I feel so peaceful. I wish we could stay like this forever.

“What about you? Do you think you’ll ever get to be a chef?” she asks.

There goes my peaceful mood. “Nah. My mum needs someone to look after her, and I wouldn’t earn enough to pay for a carer.”

She strokes her finger across my nipple and I shiver. “Maybe she’ll get better.”

Only if I can bring Jo back from the dead. “Yeah maybe.” I move my body so we’re facing back towards the shore, I don’t want to take her out too deep. “Are you excited to be living on your own?”

“Yes but I’m glad I’ll have Fay to keep me company.”

I paddle us back towards the shore. “I bet your family will miss you. You guys seem close.”

She laughs; it’s a beautiful sound. “I don’t think Jake will miss me. He’s already asked for my bedroom.”

Knowing we’re now in shallow water I put my feet on the sand and stand. Pia is still wrapped around me. “My mum and dad will be okay, they have Jake to look after for a few years yet.” She reaches up and squeezes the water from her hair. I so badly want to kiss her, but after yesterday I’m going to have to take it slow. “The youngest ones are always spoilt aren’t they,” she says.

I force my eyes away from her lips. “Not always. Jo was older than me but he was always their favourite. In their eyes he couldn’t do no wrong. When he died they were stuck with the runt of the litter.”

A crease appears between her eyes. “I’m sorry.”

I don’t want her pity, but right now I’ll take what I can get. A wave hits us and I almost lose balance. Pia clutches me tighter. “I’m talking way off into the future here, but do you think you’ll ever want the whole marriage and kids thing?” I ask.

Her eyes widen and I instantly regret asking such a stupid question. I swallow, and look around for Liam or Ash, but I can’t see them. Her hand lands on my cheek, and she pulls me back to face her. She’s smiling.

“Most guys would run a mile from that subject. You’re not like anyone I’ve met before.”

I stare at her. I hope she means that in a good way.

“Maybe I’ve misjudged you,” she says.

  You have.

“I can see myself with a partner and kids. I used to want a big house in the city, but now I think I’d like to live by the coast,” she says.

I smirk. “I’ve heard Kingsand is great.”

She laughs and I feel her body shake against mine. I bury my head in her damp neck. She smells salty.

  “What about you, Trey?”

I raise my head, and rub my nose against hers. She doesn’t pull away. “I want a girl who is all mine, who loves me for who I am. Someone I can laugh with, and who likes to eat. I want a girl who will let me take care of her. I’m going to be a better man, and father than my dad. I won’t run away when things get tough. I won’t be weak like him.”

The crease between her eyes deepens. Damn, I’ve said too much. Slowly her head dips towards mine, she parts her lips. A blast of cold, salty water hits my face. Pia gasps. I rub the water from my eyes and see Ash’s grinning face. Asshole.

“If you two lovebirds can tear yourselves away from each other, we’re going to get some lunch,” he says.

  CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

  Trey

When we get back to the car I expect Pia to sit in the back seat, but she gets in the front, next to me. As I drive along I try to keep my eyes on the road but I’m distracted by her bare legs. I shift in my seat. The others are having a conversation in the back but I’ve tuned them out and am not really listening. “What about you, Trey?” Ash asks.

I glance at him through my rear view mirror. “I missed the question; I was concentrating on the road.” And Pia’s legs.

He flicks his hair out of his eye. “I asked if you want to come over to my place, have some beers and listen to some music.”

“Count me in,” Fay says. She’s looking into a pocket mirror and re-applying her eyeliner. I hope we don’t hit any bumps in the road; she’ll end up with the pencil in her eye. I cringe at that thought.

“Well,” Ash says, “are you in?”

I shake my head and sigh. “I can’t. The neighbour’s been with my mum all day. There’s no way she’ll agree to watch her tonight as well.” Plus there’s no way she’d believe it takes all day and night to service a car.

“No probs. Pia can come. I’ll walk her and Fay back to your face.”

My fingers clench on the steering wheel. I want her to stay with me, but I can’t ask that of her. I try to focus on the road but I’m holding my breath, waiting for her response. Maybe I can convince my neighbour that my car broke down. Out of the corner of my eye I see Pia turn around to face Ash. “I’ll pass. I’m feeling kind of tired,” she says. I try to keep the smile off my face, and fail. I’m so happy I could kiss her. I will later.

I drop the others off at Ash’s place and then park up in my driveway. When we get inside, Emily and my mum are drinking tea, and watching the TV. Emily puts down her cup and gets up out of the chair. “I’ll be on my way. Your mum and I have had a nice chat.” She kisses Mum on the cheek. “Take care, Ali.” She walks towards the door, then stops and turns around. “Were there any problems with the car?” she asks.

Pia looks up at me. “If you’re having problems with your car it wasn’t the brightest idea to go-”

Shit. I quickly cut her off before she dumps me right in it. “Everything’s fine, Emily. Thank you.”

Emily leaves but Mum stays sitting in the armchair. Pia frowns at me. I head to the kitchen, hoping Pia will follow me so that we can talk without Mum overhearing. I spoon some coffee into the coffeemaker, and fill it with filtered water. Pia leans against the kitchen counter, her arms folded across her chest. “Why did you cut me off, Trey? That’s rude.”

I switch the coffee maker on and chew on my lip. If I tell her the truth it will make me look bad, but I don’t want to lie to her. Damn. We were getting along so well. I take a deep breath and fiddle with the handle of an empty mug. “I had to lie to my neighbour to get her to take care of my mum. I told her I was taking my car in for a service.”

Her lips form a straight line. “Then why did you ar
range to go out today? We could have just stayed here.”

I gaze down at the kitchen floor and shrug my shoulders. “I didn’t want you to be bored. You didn’t come all this way just to sit in my house all day.”

She moves closer and slides her arms around my neck. “I came here to see you. Don’t lie to her anymore. We can find things to do here.”

The coffeemaker makes a gurgling noise. I slip my arms around her waist, dip my head and rub my nose against hers. “I know what I’d like to be doing right now.”

She smiles up at me. “Oh yeah. What?”

“This,” I say, as I cock my head to the side and press my lips against hers. My tongue invades her warm mouth. She runs her fingers across my scalp, and my hands slide down her hips to rest on her cute, plump ass.

She pulls away from me. “We can’t do this. Your mum is in the other room.”

I clasp her hand in mine. “Maybe she’s gone back to bed. Let’s go look.” I tug her along through to the lounge. It’s empty. I sit Pia down on the sofa. “Wait there.” I open Mum’s bedroom door just a crack and peek inside. She’s lying in bed, curled up on her side. She may not be asleep just yet, but she will be soon. I kneel down beside Pia on the sofa. Reaching out I slide her dress up along her milky thighs, exposing her blue lace panties. My fingers are tingling like they’re charged with electricity. “Let’s continue where we left off.” My voice sounds gravelly even to me.

Pia’s eyes widen. She places her hand on top of mine. “What if your mum comes in?”

I move so that my face is level with hers. “She won’t,” I say, as I plant a kiss on the tip of her nose. My lips move to kiss her left eyelid, then her right. I trail kisses along her cheek, brush my lips across hers and continue kissing her warm, soft, scented neck. I feel her muscles relax, and her breathing becomes heavier. I move to part her thighs with my hands. “I owe you an orgasm, Pee Aitch.” I hook my fingers under her panties and pull them down and off, tossing them to the floor. I gaze at her perfect pussy, and stroke my fingers over her tufts of soft hair. Looking into her eyes, I lick my lips. “I’m going to make you come so hard that I almost drown in it.” She makes a gasping noise, and then moans softly as my tongue makes contact. My tongue races the figure eight across her folds before sliding into her hole. Her hands move down to grip the back of my head, holding me in place. She doesn’t need to hold me. I want to be right here. I close my lips over her clit and suck it into my warm, wet mouth. Then I begin to flick my tongue across it as I slide my finger inside her. She’s wet and tight. Her fingers dig into my scalp, and her thighs squeeze against the side of my head.

“Oh, Trey, oh,” she moans. The sounds she’s making send the blood rushing to my dick. There’s no way we’re getting interrupted this time. If anyone rings that damn doorbell, they’ll just have to wait outside until we’re done. As I tease her with my tongue, her muscles get tighter and she arches her back, pushing her pussy against my lips. Then she gives me what I’ve been waiting for, as her beautiful body shudders, and she releases into my waiting mouth. I suck and swallow as her juices fill my mouth. Damn, she even tastes good. When she’s finally done, her thighs tremble against me. She has a contented smile on her face and I can’t help but dip my head and move in to kiss her sweet lips. She traces her fingers across my stomach and pops the button of my jeans. “I love your stomach, Trey. It’s so flat and hard. I bet you work-out, don’t you?”

I try not to let her compliment go to my head, but it feels good to know she likes my body. “I do some sit-ups.” I make a hissing noise as she slides her hand inside my jeans and grasps my dick. She rubs her thumb across the head of my dick and I can feel that there’s already some pre-cum. I tip my head back and close my eyes as she strokes her hand along the length of my dick and applies pressure. My hand moves to grip the edge of the sofa. Her soft, sexy voice makes its way into my blood drained head. “It’s my turn now, Trey. I’m going to make you come so hard that you explode.” Fuck. That’s the sexiest damn thing I’ve ever heard. My eyes snap open. I lean down, clasp her cheeks between my palms and smash my lips against hers. My tongue darts into her mouth and I kiss her hard and aggressively. Her hands leave my dick as she runs them up my back to fist into my hair, pulling my face closer to hers.

“I want you. I want you so fucking bad,” I manage to breathe between kisses. I scoop my arms around her waist and sweep her up off the sofa and into my arms. She wraps her legs around me as I carry her towards my bedroom. I open the door and skid across my books that are on the floor, in my rush to get to my bed.

Pia squeals, “Don’t drop me.” We tumble onto the bed, me on top of her, our bodies still entwined. I yank on the drawer of my bedside table so hard, that the drawer falls out and hits the floor. Still holding her with one hand, I fumble around in the drawer with my other hand, in search of my condoms. Feeling the foil wrapper between my fingers I tear it open with my teeth, and quickly sheath my dick. I crush her body against mine and gaze into her eyes. “God, Precious. I want you so. Fucking. Bad.” The tip of my dick is pressing against her pussy.

Her eyes widen and she grips my shoulders. “No. Wait.”

Wait. “I don’t think I can, Pee Aitch,” I tell her, honestly. I try taking shallow breaths and fist my hands into my bed sheet. The corners of her mouth tip down. Oh hell no. What’s wrong now? She pushes against my shoulders.

“I don’t want to be just another notch on your bedpost.”

I squeeze my eyes shut and rest my forehead against hers. My heart is thumping. I take a minute to calm myself; I can feel my dick getting flaccid. When I’ve composed myself, I open my eyes and gaze into her soft brown eyes. She looks worried. “Pia, it’s not like that with you. I think I love you.” I dip my head to kiss her, but she presses her finger against my lips to stop me. There’s a crease between her eyes.

“How do I know you mean it? You’ve been with lots of girls. You may have said that same thing to all of them.”

I stroke her hair away from her face. “Believe me, I didn’t.” Does she really think so little of me? That kind of hurts.

She bites down on her lip. “I want to believe you.”

I roll off, and lie down beside her. I reach out and stroke my hand across her cheek. I don’t like to see her sad and nervous. “I’ve never invited a girl to stay overnight before. And I’ve certainly never chased after a girl who kicked me to the kerb the way you did.” She bites her lip again and turns her head away from me. I place my hand against her cheek and force her to meet my eyes. “I don’t know what it is about you, Pee Aitch, but I can’t get you out of my mind. I can’t make you trust me. Just please give me a chance to show you that I’m for real.” I hold my breath as she looks at me, and stares into my eyes. She gives me a small smile. My stomach muscles tighten as she wraps her hand around my dick. I dip my head and plant kisses from her neck up to her lips. Her tongue mingles with mine as she continues to rhythmically stroke my dick. I close my hand over hers to stop her, then I kick off my jeans and ease myself on top of her. I make sure to support my weight on my forearms; I don’t want to crush her. I slowly push into her, she’s tight. I moan and close my eyes. I slowly thrust my hips. “Oh Precious, you feel so good.” She wraps her arms around my shoulders and her legs around my hips. I build up speed and she matches me thrust for thrust. I’m lost in the sound of skin slapping against skin, her sweet scent, and her tight muscles that are gripping my dick. I feel her breath against my ear, and her fingers digging into my shoulders. “Come with me, Precious. Come with me,” I breathe. I open my eyes; I want to watch her orgasm. Her cheeks are flushed, her lips are parted and her eyes are closed. “Open your eyes, Precious. Look at me.” Her eyelids flutter open and our gaze locks as we reach our climax together.

I collapse on top of her. We’re both slicked with sweat. She’s trembling beneath me. “Pee Aitch, that was fucking amazing,” I mumble into her neck.

She giggles and her breath tickles my ear. “I
aim to please,” she says.

I roll off and hold her in my arms. She’s so beautiful. I’m in love. I’m screwed. She snuggles into me, a smile curving her soft lips. I close my eyes and rest my chin against her head, taking in the scent of her hair. I feel myself drifting off to sleep.

It’s dark when I’m woken by the sound of the doorbell ringing.

Fay throws herself into the armchair and kicks off her shoes. Pia walks in to the lounge. Her dress looks crumpled. I sit in the corner of the sofa, and Pia sits between my legs. I wrap my arms around her waist and rest my head against hers. Fay looks from me to Pia. “You guys have totally had sex, haven’t you?” Neither of us say anything but I know there’s a silly grin on my face. Fay fixes her eyes on Pia. “Don’t keep me in suspense. Was he any good?”

  I chuckle into Pia’s shoulder.

“My God, Fay.” Pia shakes her head.

Fay sits forward and smiles. “Did he make you come?”

Pia folds her arms across her chest. “You are so nosey.”

I brush Pia’s hair away from her face and whisper in her ear. “It’s okay. You can tell her, I don’t mind.”

She turns her head to me and raises an eyebrow. “You’re as bad as she is.”

I grin at her and then look across to Fay. “Let’s just say she came so much I almost drowned.” I rub my arm, where Pia has just punched me. I pout at her. “Bully.” My stomach rumbles, I need food. “Are you guys hungry?” I ask.

  “Starved,” they answer in unison.

I open Mum’s bedroom door to check on her. She’s sitting up in bed reading a newspaper. I guess Emily must have given it to her. I never buy newspapers because I don’t like being told what to think, and they always blow everything out of proportion. She looks up as I walk in and close the door behind me. “You hungry?” I ask. She’s usually in a better mood when she’s spent time with Emily, so I’m hoping she’ll eat something.

A crease forms between her eyebrows. “What are you cooking?”

I sit down on the edge of her bed. “I was thinking maybe tuna and spaghetti.”
