Just Stay

I’m grinning so much, my cheeks hurt. I rub my thumb over the pendant. “I’ll never forget anything we did together. The best times of my life have been with you.” I remove my yin and yang pendant, and put it in my pocket. I slip the pasty pendant around my neck. “I’m never going to take this off.”
We hold hands as we walk towards my cottage. I want to skip along like a little kid. We stop when we reach the door. I slide my arms around her waist. “So, you have classes on Monday. I can drive you back on Sunday evening.”
She slips her arms around my neck and presses her lips to mine. Oh God, I’ve missed this. My tongue invades her mouth.
She pulls back and gazes into my eyes. “You can drive me to uni on Monday morning.”
I stroke my hand along her cheek. “We’ll have to get up early, but that’s okay.”
She stands on tiptoes and kisses my nose. “Not so early. It’ll only take an hour.”
I frown. “More like five. Unless I drive like a lunatic. Last time I did that, I almost killed myself.” I freeze as soon as the words leave my mouth. Why did I have to bring up killing myself.
She’s smiling, as if she didn’t hear my stupid comment. She plants kisses along my neck, and I shiver. “Didn’t I tell you? I’ve transferred. I start at Falmouth university on Monday. It’s only an hours drive from here.”
My mouth falls open. “You transferred? For me?”
“Because I fell in love with this place.” She gestures with her hands. “You living here is an added bonus, I suppose.”
I laugh. She’s never going to let me get too arrogant. “What about Fay?” I ask.
“Fay is staying at Sheffield. She has James.”
I cup her cheeks in my hands, and gaze into her beautiful eyes. “And you have me. I don’t deserve you, but I want you. No one will ever want you as much as I do. I’ll try my best to be worthy of you.”
She loops her arm through mine. “Enough talking. Take me to bed, Loverboy.”
The End.

Michelle Abbott lives in the UK and hates describing herself in 3rd person. She's a self-published author of new adult romance, and likes to write about heroes who begin as the underdog and are protective of their girl. She's an avid reader of romance, is addicted to coffee and loves wine and chocolate, so yeah, not the most healthy eating and drinking habits :-) She spends way too much time online when she should be writing. She collects teddy bears and occasionally knits a couple of rows on a sweater she started years ago, which she may eventually finish in time to wear for her funeral :-)
