Instead, he gripped her ankles and pulled her down the bed until her backside was on the edge.

He dropped to his knees. “I can make up for the lack of kissing. I can still give you my mouth and tongue.”

Before she could take a deep breath, his mouth was on her. Right on her. His lips covered her pussy, tongue immediately licking out and exploring.

Heat blasted through her body, a tsunami that threatened to drown her in an instant. “Joshua…”

His hands were on her thighs, pushing them apart. “Don’t fight me. Let me have you. This isn’t play. This is for you. This is for me. It doesn’t have to always be in the dungeon or at the club. It can be for comfort, too, right?”

She was really comfortable. So freaking comfortable. “Please don’t stop.”

She glanced down her body to where he was working her over. He looked up, his lips glistening with the evidence of her arousal, and gave her the most sweetly salacious grin she’d ever seen.

“Of course, just because we’re not in the dungeon doesn’t mean I’m not in charge,” he said. “Don’t move. I want to enjoy how good you taste. Come all over my tongue. Let me feel it. This is how I’ll kiss you. So good and so deep.”

He covered her again and she felt his tongue on her clit.

Kayla bit back a groan, and it took everything she had to not shift her pelvis up and ride his tongue. She forced herself to be still, her hands fisting in the sheets she’d slept in the night before.

“I stayed up most of the night thinking about doing this,” he murmured against her flesh. Every word rumbled along her skin, lifting her higher and higher.

She’d spent the night trying desperately not to think about this. When he’d said he wouldn’t kiss her, she’d thought he’d meant anywhere. She’d imagined him sucking her nipples perhaps, biting her flesh during some kinky games, but this was so intimate. And soft. And only for her.

Fucker kept finding a way to pull her back in.

He ate her pussy like it was the finest of delicacies, spearing her with his tongue and then suckling on her clit. He knew exactly how to use his tongue and mouth to take her straight to the edge and then pull her back so she didn’t fly over. He managed to keep her right on the edge. Edge of the bed. Edge of orgasm. Edge of screaming out how he was making her crazy.

He kept her there for what felt like forever, as though he enjoyed how fast and far he could push her. This was where he found some of his power.

“Master, please.” She couldn’t stop the words from rolling out of her mouth. Her body was taut, aching, needy. If he didn’t send her over the edge soon, she wasn’t sure what she would do. “Joshua, please.”

“This pleases Joshua quite a bit,” he said, dragging his tongue over her labia. “Much more than I would have thought. Do you have any idea how long it’s been since I went down on someone?”

Through the haze she heard him, but she was way past caring. “Please. I can’t stand it. I need to come. Do you have any idea how long it’s been since I begged?”

She didn’t beg, but she would for this. It was too overwhelming. She needed there to be closure.

His head came up and his eyes focused on hers. “You don’t have to beg. I thought a lot about this last night. I want to take the contract seriously. You don’t have to beg me. I want to give this to you. I want you to ask and I’ll give. You protect me, I take care of you. Let me show you what I mean.”

His hand moved and suddenly she felt his fingers invade, entering and stretching her. He curled those big fingers deep inside her as he leaned over and sucked her clitoris into his mouth.

The orgasm slammed into her, stealing her breath and a good portion of her will. He kept it up for a few moments, licking and nuzzling her as the aftershocks hit.

  “Kay?”

She opened her eyes, the world a bit hazy, and he was staring up at her with desperate expectation in his eyes.

He was asking? She’d given him permission, but he seemed to need more today.

  “Yes. Yes, please.”

He didn’t need to be told twice. He was up on his feet, shoving his pajama bottoms down and rolling a condom on his massive erection. He’d come prepared. She had to wonder how long he’d stood outside the door before he’d knocked. How long had he sat up the night before thinking about what had gone wrong and how he could fix it? He was a mystery, but it didn’t matter because all she cared about in that moment was feeling him inside her again.

She waited for him to roll her over, but he was all about the unexpected this morning. He stepped between her legs and positioned his cock, rubbing it all around and getting it good and wet before entering her in one long, hard thrust. He kept nothing back, didn’t give her a moment to get used to the feel. He simply started fucking her. This was his time. He’d given to her and now it was his time to take, and she was all for that.

The man could fuck like a god. Two thrusts in and she was lifting up to meet him, wanting so desperately to find that place that only he could seem to take her to. Since she’d come back to the civilian world there hadn’t been a ton of sex, and what she’d had proved frustrating at best, disappointing at worst. But this…this was transcendent.

He took her out of herself and lifted her to a place where all that mattered was the next sensation, where her body was more than a tool to be used. It was an instrument of pleasure and connection.

  It was a gift.

He stared down at her as he thrust in and pulled out. She was entirely at his mercy. If he moved away from her, she would likely fall off the bed. He was the only thing holding her up and keeping her safe.

“Tell me you like this,” he demanded, his voice as hoarse as sandpaper.

“I love this, Joshua,” she replied. “Your cock, that is. Your cock is the best I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t lie about that. Please keep fucking me.”

He held her hips and her legs wound around him as he drove into her, making the bed move. If it bothered him, he didn’t show it. He simply moved with the bed until it hit the wall on the other side and couldn’t move any further. “Your wish…”

He picked up the pace and sent her over the edge again, a bomb going off inside her body. She clutched him, his strong arms the only thing real and solid in the world.

“I’m going to have to break that whole your wish thing now,” he said with a smile that was so boyishly handsome it damn near made her heart break. “Can’t keep fucking you. Feels too good. Damn, it feels so good. Hasn’t felt this good in forever.”

She was fairly certain that she’d never once felt this good about her body. She’d craved sex, needed it, but that had been a bodily function. This was luxury. The difference between flying coach and a personal luxury jet with all the amenities.

His hips flexed, sending sparks through her again, but this was his time and she watched as his body stiffened, every muscle defined. He was a freaking work of art, from his carved muscles to the silky dark hair on top of his head, to his cut-from-granite superhero jawline.

That gorgeous face of his contorted as he held himself hard against her. His chest sawed in and out, breathing heavily, and then his head fell forward. He withdrew and kicked out of his pajama pants.

“Hold on,” he said after a long moment.

  “What?”

He picked her up, wrapping one strong arm around her waist and lifting. She tightened her legs around him and wound her arms around his neck.

“What are you doing?” Were they going to the dungeon now? She wasn’t sure she had the energy for a session.

“Have to deal with something.” He stepped into the small bathroom in her room and grimaced as he reached under her with his free hand. “Don’t want to make a mess of your bed.”

Ah, he was getting rid of the condom. “And carrying me around?”

One side of his mouth lifted in the sexiest grin. “I did that because I didn’t want to let go. Also to prove how strong I am. Are you impressed?”

>   Charming Josh was deadly. She found herself smiling back and wishing he would kiss her. All it would take was a few inches and his lips would cover hers.

“I’m absolutely impressed with your strength, Joshua,” she replied, keeping her distance. Not that their bodies had a bit of distance between them. Nope. She was practically sliding all over him.

Both hands free now, he gripped her ass and strode back over to the bed. “I needed that. I think I need this, too.”

He fell on the bed, taking her with him and wrapping her around him. He laid back and yawned.

Her head found his chest, resting down and listening to his still-racing heart. It was slowing, having done its exercise for now.

“I thought you weren’t the cuddly type.” It felt nice and warm being so close to him.

“I’m not, but I think you are. I think you need this to feel close to me. I can’t give you some of the other things you need, but I have to admit that this is kind of nice. I haven’t done this in a long time,” he said with another yawn. His hand played idly in her hair and his eyes started to close.

“Do you want to sleep for a while?”

His arm tightened. “I should go to my own bed.”

He’d bent for her. She could do the same. “How about I stay right here until you fall asleep, and then I’m going to get up and take a shower. After that I’ll have some coffee and make breakfast. In an hour or two, I’ll wake you up, okay?”

“You said you’d make muffins.” He pulled the covers over them both.

She didn’t mention that he was supposed to be avoiding carbs. He could stand some comfort food. “Muffins it is.”

“And eggs and bacon and some orange juice.”

He should be glad she knew how to cook. “All those things.” She sighed and listened to his heartbeat. It was strong and steady, a reassuring sound. “You get some sleep.”

Slowly his breathing evened out and his arm relaxed.

And still she laid there, watching him sleep and wondering what the hell she was going to do about him.

  * * * *

An hour later, Kay stepped down the stairs and into the main house. Someone had already made coffee, the scent leading her toward the kitchen.

“Morning,” a deep voice said. Shane was standing in the kitchen dressed in sweat pants and a T-shirt, a mug of coffee in his hand. “I take it my morning jog has been put off for the time being?”

It was a damn good thing she didn’t embarrass easily. “He’s out for at least another hour.”

“He paced all night,” Shane replied, his eyes going to the stairs. “At least that’s what Dec told me before he went to bed. The bedroom he’s using is right under Hunt’s. You didn’t stay in his room?”

“He doesn’t want to sleep with me,” she admitted. “He’s got a lot of baggage and he doesn’t like to share it.”

“He gets his hands around your throat again and I’ll share some of mine with him,” Shane replied, his tone dark.

She moved to the coffee pot, smelling the rich aroma. “I can handle myself. He’s got some issues. You have to let me deal with them. I think he’s going to be very territorial when it comes to me, and while I appreciate your help, it’s going to hurt my relationship with him if you step in.”

He leaned against the counter. “You can’t expect me to let him hurt you.”

“I don’t, but he’s not trying to hurt me. I triggered him last night. In more ways than one. I know better and we handled it this morning. We’re back on a good footing and I don’t want to waste it. Please tell me he has some actual sugar around here?”

Shane chuckled. “The king of abs? I doubt it. Luckily I know Dec and how nasty he can be if he doesn’t get his fix. I brought along a box of sugar packets, and there’s some cream hidden behind the almond milk. Dec would never think to bring it himself, but I’ve been around him long enough to know how to deal with the beast.”

Thank god. She poured a cup and loaded it up with sugar and cream. Heavenly perfection. It was good Josh was sleeping because she had some questions. “Did Dec get my message?”

Again, his eyes wandered over to the stairs. “Let’s enjoy the morning out on the balcony.”

Shit. She’d known it. She took her coffee and followed him outside. It was high tide and she couldn’t see the beach at all, the waves going under the balcony and making the whole place look like it was actually on the water. It was magical, but more importantly, it was loud. It was so loud that no one would be able to hear what she and Shane were discussing. Not unless they literally walked out onto the balcony and sat down with them.

Shane shut the heavy door behind them and joined her at the bistro table. “Dec managed to get a plate off the car that dropped off the screenwriter at the public access point. It was a midsized American-made sedan, rented from a Santa Monica store by Robert Black.”

Despite what Bond films would have, the Agency didn’t open up their wallets for Ferraris. “Which one am I dealing with—Ezra or Levi?”

“He said he couldn’t get a face off the CCTV,” Shane replied. “Dec said there was one person in the driver’s seat, with Allen Houston in the passenger seat, but he couldn’t see if anyone was in the back. How do you know you’re not dealing with both?”

“Honestly, I don’t, though I think Houston would have mentioned a second man. Still, if I had to bet, this is Levi. Ezra would have warned me.”

“Ezra Fain is CIA, Kay. He wouldn’t warn you if he thought it could possibly compromise the operation. Perhaps he wanted you to look surprised.”

She let her jaw drop, her eyes widening as she stared in the distance. “Oh, my god.”

Shane nearly knocked over his coffee, twisting and turning to get to the threat she’d “seen.” His gun was out and pointing while she sighed and sat back.

“I give excellent surprise face, Shane, and Ezra knows that. There’s zero reason for him to leave me out.” She sat back and thoughtfully sipped her coffee. No. There was something else going on here. “It must have been Levi. He hasn’t seen how good my surprise face is.”

Shane frowned as he sat back down. “Damn it, Kay. You nearly gave me a heart attack.”

She shrugged. “Now you’ve seen it for yourself. This face goes where I want it to go and Ezra knows it. I probably could have been an actress if I hadn’t figured out I like hurting people so much. Do you ever wonder about that? All the things you could have been if you’d managed to suppress your violent side? The problem is now I know if I had an office job I would be the one who murdered the obnoxious people. Every office has one of those, right? Back at MSS it was totally a dude named Hai. Secretary screwed up, you did not see her again.”

“I fear for the office bully if you’re around.” He stared at her for a moment. “Sometimes you scare me, Kay. So why do you think Ezra is different from every other Agency asshole you’ve worked with? I’ll admit I’ve spent very little time with the guy, but he seems pretty routine when it comes to operatives.”

That was because he didn’t know Ezra like she did. “He’s different because he knows what it means to lose someone. Ezra lost his brother during a mission a long time ago. He thinks about something other than the op. He values lives.”

“Then he won’t be working for the Agency for long.”

She did worry about that. “From what I understand, he’s already on thin ice. The only reason he’s working this op is his close ties to Chelsea Weston. He was her handler for a couple of years and he became involved with the mission to find Theo Taggart. He ingratiated himself to Ian Taggart, and I think that’s why they keep him around.”

“Really? What does a grateful Big Tag look like?”

She shrugged again. “Mostly the same, but the sarcasm has a friendlier feel to it. Ezra has been instrumental in keeping the Lost Boys off the Agency’s radar. I think without him, one or more of my boys might have found himself being experimented on, and not in a fun, sexual way.”

  Sha
ne’s brows rose as he considered that. “All right, so if Ezra’s here to watch over you and handle the relationship with McKay-Taggart, why’s Levi Green riding shotgun? Agents don’t normally come in twos. They tend to be known as lone wolves.”

“Levi is the expert on the Commander. That’s the code name for the drug dealer Josh is connected to. Levi’s been working in that part of the world for a couple of years now. He took over that territory after my old boss died in the line of duty.” It was hard to think that it had been years since she’d heard the news that John Bishop was gone. The Agency had simply handed over the reins of her op to Tennessee Smith and moved on like John Bishop had never existed, but she’d missed him. Even as cold as he’d been, he’d managed to take care of her. Bishop’s death had opened up a spot for Levi Green, and now they were all here and working together.

She remembered thinking if they’d taken out Bishop, she likely didn’t have long. Bishop had been cold and calculating, the best of the best. If he’d made a mistake it was only a matter of time before she did, too. In the moment, she’d kind of welcomed it. Not Bishop’s death, but the inevitability of her own.

She hated thinking about losing Bishop.

“Why not go at this straight?” Shane sat back with a groan. “Why all this subterfuge? Why not simply tell Hunt what’s going on and why we need you in there? He’s not a bad dude. Weird and a little on the twisted side, but not bad.”

“Do you think I didn’t try to go that route?” Of course, then she wouldn’t have had the most amazing orgasm of her life. Damn. She needed Penny. Or Ariel. Ari and Pen were her girls. Someone should know she was making time with a superhottie. “Ezra shut me down. I don’t think he trusts Josh.”

“I don’t feel right playing a civilian this way,” Shane said with a shake of his head.

“Because you’ve always gotten to be Captain America, and some of us have to play Batman and go undercover and do nasty things to get the criminals. You were a cop. You got to be one of the good guys. I was Agency. I was literally one of the bad guys for years. I get that sometimes you have to be willing to get your hands dirty in order to do right. Besides, this is about taking down a man who’s killed more than one agent, and now Levi thinks he’s holding another operative.”
