  “Condom?” she asked.

Josh sat back on his heels, then dug the last condom out from his sweatpants and tore open the packaging. He’d seen Nettie go into her backyard, and in a fit of madness had walked out of his house prepared. Before he could get the condom out, Nettie grabbed the foil packet, then stooped over his thighs to flick her tongue over the tip of his cock. He groaned, gathering her hair to hold out of her face. He wanted to see this.

“Shit,” was all the brainpower he had left to say. Her lips were kissing the slit like it was his mouth, like how he would make love to her pussy. She licked, then popped the first inch in, sucking gently, nothing too crazy. It was all exploratory and tame, but the slow pace made him wilder, pushed the roller coaster higher. He loved what she was doing, but he wanted this to be balanced. She deserved more after he’d been such an ass this whole week.

He held her head to his cock, pushing her farther down the shaft, then bowed over her back, reached beyond her ass and thrust three fingers into her drenched pussy. She jerked, clearly not expecting the move. His mouth was on her spine, toying with the vertebrae, tickling her skin as he moved his fingers until he found the spot that made her voice vibrate around his painfully hard cock.

He kept applying a rhythmic pressure to what he was hoping was her G-spot, rubbing and thrusting, making sure to massage her clit every now and then, wanting her to feel every aspect of pleasure he could give her. When she began to suck his length harder, descending loosely, then using a hot force to drag up to the tip, he knew she was getting close. He didn’t stop, only kept up the pace, made it impossible for her to move away when she neared the precipice.

After a moment, when her hips began to thrust against his hand, to make him increase his pace, he pulled out his fingers and helped her sit up with a firm grip on her shoulders.

“What are you doing?” she asked, panting, her lips swollen.

He helped her lie back onto the carpet, ensuring the blanket was underneath her so she wouldn’t get rug burn, then crawled on top.

“This. Put the condom on me.”

She licked her lips, her eyes darkening when she gripped the base of him, giving a playful squeeze. He groaned. “Now, please.”

She rolled it over his cock, cupping his balls once done and massaging them. “That was very polite.”

“Good.” He felt his orgasm rising, but there was no way he was going to come without being inside her tight warmth. He lifted her legs to rest against his shoulders, lined up his cock with her pussy, and slowly—torturously—pushed inside her heat again. He closed his eyes tight, tilting his head back, trying with every modicum of his being to get a fucking grip and not come before she did.

“Move,” she said, her voice strained. “Move now. Right now.”

He looked down to see she was in the same state of agony he was. Her face was tense, her jaw wired shut, and she was clutching her hair like she needed something to hold on to. Josh’s determination to make this slow flew out the window and into the cold October night, almost like someone had cast a Halloween curse on him and all he could do was fuck her till he came.

Josh curved over her, making the joints in her legs crack and stretch as they were still braced on his shoulders. His hands rested on the floor on either side of her neck.

  “You okay?” he asked.

“Stop talking and just fuck me already. I’ve been on the edge of coming the last five minutes.”

Josh could only do as his sexy lady commanded. He fucked her. Hard. There was no surcease for either of them, no world other than the small bubble they’d created for themselves in his living room. The crackling fire, the sound of flesh meeting flesh, the way her pussy began to ripple and contract around his cock when he lowered himself to rest on his elbows and the angle of his thrusting changed. Her legs fell from his shoulders. He let one rest on the floor, holding the other under the knee, keeping it bent.

“Now, Josh. Shit, I’m gonna—” She didn’t cry out, didn’t scream, only wrapped her arms around his shoulders and buried her face in his neck, biting the junction near his artery. Her pussy pulsed and undulated around his shaft, and his balls drew up, but he kept his orgasm back. He didn’t want to end it yet.

He slowed the pace, rolling his hips with each wave he felt, gritting his teeth to keep from coming. When she finally came down, releasing his neck, he kissed her on the cheek, then sat up. He pulled one of Nettie’s legs over to meet the other, pushing her onto her side, her knees side-by-side and legs slightly bent.

“Oh, Jesus,” she cursed with a laugh, looking up at him in shock. He gripped her hip and raised one leg slightly to get a better angle, then thrust as far in as he could go. “Deeper,” she begged, clutching the blanket on the floor. “Push as far into me as you can. I want to feel you all the way.”

He did it until their skin fused and her pussy gave one last final twitch, pushing him over the edge with her. He propped himself up on the floor, resting on his hands, and thrust into her rapidly to completion. His cum raced from his balls, shooting out in heated spurts into the condom.

“Nettie,” Josh moaned, leaning down and meeting her for a biting kiss. They held each other through it, their bodies sweaty from the aftereffects of such an intimate joining.

His cock softened, and Josh held the condom as he slid out of her. He tied it off and tossed into a nearby trashcan.

She twisted so she was lying on her back, a warm smile lighting her features. “I want you to stay inside me all night.”

He rested on top of her, placing his hips between hers. He liked the feel of her bare body against his, even if his flaccid cock couldn’t do anything for either of them at the moment. It was a different kind of intimacy, one he’d forgotten. There were a lot of good parts about relationships that he hoped to relearn with Nettie.

Josh kissed her again. “Give me a few hours’ rest and we’ll see what we can do.”

They rested for a little longer, breathing in the sensation of one another’s skin, before Josh pulled Nettie up into his arms, and they moved into his bedroom for the night. When she cuddled her head onto his chest and he wrapped his arms around her, she made a contented noise. Yeah, there were a lot of things he’d forgotten that were pretty damn great.

  Epilogue

The bell was loud and jarring. It rang through Nettie’s brain like a sick infection, knocking on the inside of her head with a sledgehammer.

“What is that God-awful noise?” she grumbled, attempting to bury her head under Josh’s shoulder.

  “It’s the doorbell.”

She lifted her head and stared at him, aghast. “It sounds like a dying cat.”

“The electrician never finished. He broke his leg or something, and I haven’t called anyone else yet.”

She rested her head against his chest, grinning when he wrapped his arm around her, tugging her close. “No wonder you were so grumpy when we first met. The kids rang your doorbell like five times. You must have gone insane.”

“Yes, let’s blame my rudeness on temporary insanity.” He squeezed her tight. “Sorry for being a jerk.”

She patted his deliciously tight abs. “S’okay, dear. You’re just a man.”

“You’re such a sweetheart.” He rolled on top of her, making her squeal and giggle, so delighted by this unexplored playful side. Josh braced himself above her shoulders and leaned down. His kiss was more than welcome, a sweet good morning, experiencing one another in this intimate postdawn moment for the first time.

And the damn doorbell rang again.

She wrapped her legs around his waist and said, “I’m taking a hammer to your doorbell today.”

  “I’ll help.”

They barely touched lips again when it began to ring incessantly.

“I guess I have to get that.” He rolled off her, sitting up at the edge of the bed and rubbing his temples. “Unless we want to give in to the insanity.”

“No,” she said. “Never give in, never
surrender.”

Nettie leaped from the bed, glorying in the salacious look Josh raked her with as he took in the sight of her naked body. She grabbed a large sweater lying on the nesting chair in the corner, threw it over her head, and ran downstairs.

“Nettie!” She heard him yell. “Don’t open the front door without any underwear on!”

She looked at her rumpled hair in the mirror and gave a shrug, not caring she most definitely looked like she recently hopped out of someone’s bed…which she had, so what was the point of hiding it? Nothing was kept a secret for long in her neighborhood, so she did what Josh told her not to do, and opened his front door without any underwear.

She instantly regretted it as a blast of cold wind hit her bare legs.

“Agh,” she yelled, squatting on the floor and tugging his large sweater down around her legs.

“Argh!” Dani screamed, echoing Nettie. Richard laughed, pointing at his aunt’s state of ridiculousness, and Mrs. Berkin snorted politely behind her hand.

“Hello, dear,” Mrs. Berkin said, waving sweetly as if Nettie wasn’t squatting on the porch half naked. “Your sister never came to pick up the kids last night. I called her house, and no one picked up, and when I realized you weren’t home either, I checked in here. I promise I’m not being nosy.”

“Sure you’re not. Thanks for looking after them. Did you give Ophi a call again this morning?”

  “No.”

“So you decided to look for me before looking for my sister…who these children belong to.”

  “Yup.”

Nettie rolled her eyes. “Sure you weren’t being nosy. C’mon in, guys. I’m sure Josh has some form of breakfast item in his house that kids can eat.”

“Breakfast!” Dani yelled, dashing past Nettie and running through the house.

“Thanks, Mrs. Berkin,” Richard said with a wave, following his sister.

“Have a good morning, Nettie. I’m sure your evening was pleasurable as well.” Mrs. Berkin winked, then flounced down the porch steps. She probably had a gossip phone tree she was about to activate.

“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that,” Nettie called after the woman. Worrying about her sister, she made a mad dash for her car, cursing herself when she saw it was unlocked with her purse sitting in the front seat. She sat in the front seat, closed the door to keep out the cold, then called her sister.

“Hello?” a sleepy voice mumbled on the other end.

“Ophi, are you okay?” Nettie asked, relieved to hear her sister alive.

“What do you mean? I’m fine. I’m in bed.”

“You left the kids with Mrs. Berkin last night. I thought you’d picked them up after the dance. Then they showed up on Josh’s doorstep this morning.”

“So you were at Josh’s, huh?”

  Nettie ignored the comment.

“Yes, but more importantly, whose house are you at?”

  “I’m at my house.”

“No, you’re not,” a male voice on the phone said.

There was a pause. Nettie was on the edge of her seat, literally and metaphorically. Who was her sister with? Had she spent the night with someone? This was too good.

“I’ll call you back, Nettie.” Ophi disconnected.

  “No, Ophi! Wow.”

The cold was beginning to seep into the car, so she grabbed her purse, then ran back to Josh’s. She shut the door behind her and leaned against it as she shivered and adjusted to the warmth of Josh’s house once more.

Josh came down the stairs and peeked into the foyer. His hair was charmingly disheveled, and he was all sexy in a T-shirt and jeans. “Who was it?”

“Mrs. Belkin dropping my niece and nephew off.” She didn’t mention that her sister had actually spent the night at a man’s house for the first time since giving birth to Dani. It was a miracle.

“They’re here?” he asked, looking around as if the kids would be standing there right behind him, behaving.

  “Yeah, somewhere.”

  “Where?”

“I don’t know.” She waved in the general direction they ran. “Somewhere there.”

He rolled his eyes and walked toward the kitchen yelling, “Marco.”

  “Polo,” they screamed back.

She stood there for a good ten minutes, waiting for her body temperature to regulate and listening to the silly yet comforting sounds of Josh and the kids playing Marco Polo. Just as she was sure her legs had thawed enough to support walking, the screeching doorbell rang throughout the house.

  “Josh, I’m killing your doorbell!”

She opened the door and whimpered as the wind hit her legs once more.

“Why are you half dressed in thirty-degree weather?” her sister asked.

“Why are you still dressed in your costume and where were you last night?” The implication of that question hit her, and Nettie suddenly forgot the cold, remembering the quick call. “Oh my God, where were you last night? Who were you with?”

Ophi walked past Nettie and into the house without answering the question.

“You slept with someone!” Nettie squealed, jumping up and down in celebration of her sister’s broken celibacy. “We both had sex last night, woo-hoo!”

Josh walked in at that moment with a kid under each arm, hanging by their waists. Dani and Richard waved at their mom with big, toothy smiles. “Hey, Mom!”

“Josh, have you fed them yet?” Ophi seemed determined to ignore Nettie’s rejoicing.

“No, but I have eggs and ingredients for pancakes. Is that okay?”

“Yes, please feed us.” Ophi smiled. “I’m starving.”

“Yeah, my sister probably used up a lot of energy last night.” Nettie winked, trying to be as obnoxious and obvious as possible.

“No more than you,” Josh volleyed back, making Ophi burst out laughing.

“Oh, I like you,” Ophi said, patting him on his arm and taking Dani from him. “I like you a lot. Let’s go make eggs and pancakes.”

“Pankcaked!” Dani yelled, hugging her mom tight.

Josh put Richard on the floor so he could run after his mom and sister.

Nettie shook her finger at him. “Well played, sir.”

“Quit teasing your sister,” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her neck.

“That’s what we do in this family. We tease and joke and laugh with each other.”

  “We?”

“Yeah, you want in on this action? We’re pretty great.”

“Yes.” He sounded content and affectionate. “I want all of this. I want you.”

Josh kissed her, and Nettie could feel his smile against her mouth, warming her heart. He pulled away and from the kitchen they both heard the kids scream, “Trick or treat!”

“Kiss me,” Nettie said, this time with a smile of her own. And he did.

I’ve always had an active imagination. That imagination usually took form in the real world by zoning out in the middle of conversations. I eventually decided it was time to share my daydreaming with the world and began to put my musings on paper, a decision I have yet to regret.

I am currently living it up in Northern California after a big move from New York City. And by living it up I mean staying at home with my cat, obsessively watching episodes of my favorite TV shows—all of which are extremely geeky—and simultaneously reading the next book on my constantly expanding reading list. I do all this while trying not to pig out on unhealthy snacks. As you can tell, I l
ead a busy life.
