Sovietnik's Fury

Giving her a wicked smile, I captured her mouth in a long kiss till we were out of breath, and replied mysteriously, “You’ll see.”

  Vivian

“Would you like something to drink, miss?” the stewardess asked me, as she held the tray with champagne, orange juice, and water as I sat comfortably in the first-class seat.

Blinking in confusion, I automatically picked up the champagne. “Thank you.” She smiled politely, and moved to other passengers, which consisted of Bratva members if their dark suits and grumpy expressions were anything to go by.

Radmir disappeared somewhere right before boarding, not explaining why we needed to leave and on a commercial flight at that. After we got married, it was too dangerous for us to travel without the Bratva plane, and since we mostly spent time in Russia, it was no problem. After a magnificent dinner in our favorite restaurant, he got an urgent call, and we were rushed to the airport. Since my show was not for ten days, my assistant could handle most of the stuff in case of emergency, as I’d left directions for her.

A heavy bag fell on the seat next to me, startling me, and my eyes traveled up to see the intruder and my jaw almost hit the ground as Dominic stood next to me with an amused expression. His brown eyes twinkled with mischief, which could rarely be seen on his hard-as-granite face.

“You again.” Confusing me even more with this dialogue, I was about to reply, when he shouted, “Radmir, I’m gonna take your seat!” With that, he sat a few rows before me as finally my husband sat in his chair, winking at me, while the stewardess quickly brought him a whiskey, ice clinking against each other as he took a long swig.

  “Radmir, what is going on?”

Instead of answering my question, he murmured, “Krasivoglazaya.” And it triggered a flashback to our first meeting, when we met on the plane and this exact situation had happened.

  He was recreating the memory?

“Why?” I asked, and he leaned closer, raising my chin slightly and nipping my lips.

“It has been twenty-six years since we met, moya krasivoglazaya.”

  “And?”

He gave me a long look, and then it dawned on me.

“And we would live happily ever after, celebrating our twenty-sixth anniversary together in some kind of interesting way?”

Radmir paused midair with his croissant as he shifted his attention to me with curious eyes. “Why twenty-six exactly?”

Shrugging, I gazed at the sunset while the Baikal Lake stirred from the wind, and waves crashed against the rocks, creating an amazing mood to bask in as all my problems flew out of my mind. “All those rounded dates… it’s boring, isn't it? Somehow, celebrating twenty-six years together sounds much more interesting than twenty-five. Round dates, it’s kind of expected you’d do it. But to have a love so strong to still try when there is no obligation to… or find it in a relationship to actually grow stronger no matter what…” Resting my chin on my bent knees, I whispered, “Romantic, at least to me.”

“You finally remember, moya lubimoya, huh?” He laced his fingers through my hair, bringing us closer to each other. “How is this life with me so far?”

Holding his stare, I placed my palm on his heart. “Amazing.”

  “An adventure?”

Right before kissing him, I replied as my heart filled with love. Because who would want any other life but with this man? Our way to a happy ending wasn't easy, with a separation, prison time, almost dying twice, but hey, it was worth it at the end.

Truly, who would have thought such a journey awaited me in that spontaneous plane trip?

“An adventure.” And we locked our mouths as the plane prepared for takeoff while I thanked this life for this man and everything we both shared.

“Let me show you what it means to be loved by me.”

  And he did.

Giving me the greatest gift of all.

  Our life together.
