“That’s just Bo. He don’t want shit but to talk about the kids,” she responded nervously. I just shook my head as my nigga Ronny was walking down the stairs.

“What’s up, nigga?” We dapped each other up.

“What up, Li’l Bino,” he took my son out Shan’s arms and played with him. “Makes me want another one,” he said looking at Shan.

“Bullshit! You got enough already,” she quickly responded and we all laughed.

“I’m about to run somewhere with Bino. I’ll be back later.” Ronny handed Shan my son back and kissed her.

“You ready?” he asked me. I stood and walked to the door. Brooke heard Ronny so there was no need for me to repeat it. Once we were in the car we headed straight to the airport.

  ********

“So what’s the plan?” Ronny asked me as soon as we were inside the rented car. Murder was on my mind, but because it was the father of my lady’s kids and I didn’t want them to be fatherless I was just gonna beat the fuck out of his ass. I had to laugh at myself. Fuck that, I was killing his ass on sight.

“Oh, it’s a wrap. I’m offing that nigga, point Blank!” I let it be known. Ronny just nodded his head, ready for whatever.

I put that nigga’s address in the GPS and we were on our way. Staking out at his house turned into an all-nighter. It was now 6 a.m. and Ronny and I both were exhausted.

“Man, let’s just go get some sleep,” Ronny said. I nodded my head in agreement as I pulled off.

Shan and Brooke both were blowing up our phones. We let them know that we had to take care of some shit out of town. They weren’t too pleased about that and after cursing the both of us out they finally stopped calling.

Looking at the time, I saw it was 11 a.m. I called Ronny’s room and got him up then headed to the shower. After getting something to eat we were back on our manhunt. I was just ready to get this shit over with and head back home.

“Man, this nigga ain’t never at home,” I said, never taking my eyes off Bo’s house.

“If his ass not here by midnight we’re leaving. Shit, I’m not about to be in divorce court fucking around with you and that nigga,” Ronny said, looking down at his phone.

“I know, man. I didn’t mean to be out here this long,” I said. I felt bad for keeping him out like that. The sun had begun to go down and I was more than ready to go.

Maybe Brooke knew something and called the nigga to warn him, I thought to myself. Just as quickly as the thought occurred I quickly pushed it to the back of my mind. Her ass couldn’t have known what was up. But that shit was strange, and I knew he was there because his car was parked out front.

“Fuck this nigga,” I said as I pulled off slowly, still eyeing the house.

  Chapter 14

  Brooke

I can’t believe Bino’s ass actually went to Maryland and sat out front of Bo’s house. This nigga was really on some other shit. Like really, what in the fuck was his motive? I knew him and Ronny’s asses were up to no good when they left that day. I just had that gut feeling. When Bo called me and told me that my man was outside knocking on his front door I could’ve shitted bricks. I knew Bino’s ass was already crazy but when he said he was with another guy I knew it had to be Ronny so I begged him not to answer the door for them. That was a disaster waiting to happen.

I was half asleep when Bino finally walked into our bedroom. I watched as he got Brandon out our bed and carried him to the nursery. He returned shortly and went straight to the shower. When he came back into the room I was sitting up in the bed with my arms folded underneath my breasts. To say I was pissed would’ve been an understatement.

“So what was you gonna do if you saw him?” I asked him. He turned to face me only to turn right back around and continue to do what he was doing.

“What you talking about?” he played dumb.

“So you supposed to love my kids so much that you’re willing to take their father out their lives. What kind of shit is that?”

He just climbed in bed and turned his back to me. I pushed him. It was a little harder than I attended to and it caused him to almost fall off the bed. I didn’t give a fuck, though.

“Answer me, damn it!” I yelled. That got his ass up.

Jumping up, he rushed over to the side of the bed and snatched my ass up by the collar. I didn’t give a fuck because the shit his ass was trying to pull was uncalled for. Knowing Ronny’s ass, he probably put Bino up to this shit.

“Don’t you ever fucking put yo’ hands on me again! I know you been talking to that fuck nigga behind my back. If you wanna go be with that nigga then I want stop you; but I tell yo’ ass what, you wont be playing house with that nigga with my damn son.” With that he pushed me on the bed and stormed out the room.

I jumped off the bed and was right behind his ass, fussing and cursing as we went down the stairs.

“Look, Brooke, you need to get the fuck outta my face with that bullshit, for real, man,” he said with a deadly mug.

“I ain’t going no damn where! You and your damn ringleader ass friend had some fucking nerve going to that man’s house like that. What y’all was gonna do, kill him, too?” As soon as I said that I wished I could’ve taken it back. But oh well!

“What the fuck is that shit supposed to mean?”

“Shit, y’all niggas killing everybody else,” I simply said. He just scowled at me with his fist opening and closing. I stood there with my arms folded, matching his stare.

“Hell fucking yeah, I was gonna murk his ass! If you got a problem with it then I suggest you go be with that nigga. Until then shut the fuck up and don’t bring this shit up again. If you text that nigga again and it don’t have shit to do with the kids I’m offing him along with yo’ ass,” he said before walking up to me. He got in my face and I saw nothing but fire in his eyes. “If you ever mention me killing someone else I’ll break yo’ fucking neck.”

The look on Bino’s face let me know to shut the fuck up. He stared at me until I turned to walk back up the stairs and I could still feel him burning a hole through my back. I went back upstairs and took my ass to bed.

Bino had some nerve to even be mad at me when he went to Bo’s house to kill him. That shit was foul and Bo was lucky I told his ass not to open that fucking door. Bino and Ronny both were on some bullshit and I was gonna call Ronny’s ass out on it. What Bino, Bo, and I went through didn’t have shit to do with his ass.

  Shaniqua

“Both of y’all asses supposed to be out the game, so what money y’all niggas were supposed to been getting?” I slapped Ronny on his chest, startling him as he slept on his back. His ass snuck in the house on me and didn’t even have the audacity to wake me up to let me know his ass was home. He slept in one of the guest bedroom’s downstairs.

Jumping up, he said, “Man, Shan, it’s too early for all that,” before laying back down, closing his eyes.

“Nah, nigga, you gonna tell me something,” I fussed.

Still with his eyes closed he pulled me down on the bed with him. I hope he didn’t think he was getting some because that shit was the last thing on my mind.

“Man, don’t say shit to Brooke but we went to Maryland,” he finally said.

“What y’all go to Maryland for? Ronny, please tell me y’all didn’t do shit to the father of that girl kids. You don’t even have shit to do with what goes on with them. You need to be worried about your own family,” I said to him. He sat up and looked at me through narrowed eyes. When I said it I realized how ridiculous I sounded. Bino had always been there for Ronny and I, and for me to say something like that was really selfish of me.

“I know I don’t have shit to do with it but I wasn’t gonna let him go there by himself. If I have to bust my gun with my nigga then that’s what the fuck I’ma do. End of story!”

I didn’t respond because I understood where he was coming from.

“So what happened? I already know Brooke might be mad about it,” I said to him. />
“I don’t give a fuck! She better take that shit up with her nigga. I did what any real friend would do and that’s have my nigga’s back no matter what. I don’t give a fuck who likes it or not!”

There was nothing else to be said. I politely got off the bed and stood to my feet. “I’m going to get the kids ready for school,” I said to him before disappearing out the room.

Upstairs I got my kids up and ready. “Come on, y’all, so I can make y’all some cereal before the bus comes,” I said to them. I loved dressing them up for school. Ray’Shun’s little wanna-be mack daddy ass thought he was the shit, while Niyah and Destiny were little divas. For some reason Destiny had gotten where she hardly wanted to go home. I made a mental note to talk to Ronny about that.

“Mama, me and Destiny want some Captain Crunch,” Miss Niyah announced as she and Destiny walked into the kitchen with Ni-Ni tailing alone.

“Me too, Mommy,” said Ni-Ni. She wanted to be like her big sisters so bad.

“Okay, baby, Mommy will give you some too. Where is Ray’Shun?”

  “He still upstairs,” Destiny said.

“One of y’all go get him!” Niyah jumped up because that was right up her alley. Her little ass loved to aggravate him.

“Ray’Shun, Mama said get’cho butt downstairs!” she yelled running up the stairs. I just shook my head as I fixed their cereal. Sitting their bowls on the table, I heard running down the steps followed by crying. I rolled my eyes upwards.

“Mama, Ray’Shun hit me,” Niyah was screaming dramatically.

“She hit me first,” Ray’Shun said with a mug on his face, looking just like his damn daddy.

“Ray’Shun, what I tell you about that shit? Both of y’all better behave,” I said to them.

“She hit me first! I told her to leave me alone but she kept doing it,” he said angrily. I blew out a frustrated breath because I went through the same shit every damn morning. And Niyah screaming wasn’t making it any better.

“I didn’t touch you!” she screamed at him.

“Yes you did!” he yelled back at her.

“No I didn’t!” she shot back.

They stood in each other’s faces going back and forth until Ronny came out the downstairs bedroom.

“Why in the hell y’all in here doing all that damn screaming like something wrong with y’all?” he yelled at the both of them. That surprised the hell out of them because they didn’t even know he was down there. Usually he would be upstairs and wouldn’t hear a thing.

“Ray’Shun hit me, Daddy!” That really got Niyah going. Ronny looked at Ray’Shun.

“What I tell yo’ li’l ass about hitting your sister? You don’t hit females and if I have to tell you that shit again I’m gonna beat yo’ ass,” he said to him. Ray’Shun smacked his lips and sat down to eat his breakfast.

“Um, you need to get at her li’l ass, too. She always going up there aggravating him,” I said to Ronny. It wasn’t right to get at one and not the other.

“And you need to leave him alone, Shaniyah. If I hear of you bothering him again I’m whooping yo’ li’l butt, too. Do you hear me?” he said. She nodded her head up and down. “Now go wash your face,” he dismissed her.

“That goes for all of y’all. Y’all are brother and sisters. Y’all shouldn’t be fighting each other,” I said to them. Ronny turned to face me.

“Now you wanna speak up when you was just sitting here letting them go back and forth like that?” he said to me as he picked Ni-Ni up and took a seat with her on his lap.

“Because I wanted you to hear them and see what I have to go through every morning,” I said to him.

After breakfast and I put the kids on the school bus I went back inside. Once I cleaned the kitchen, I headed upstairs where Ronny and Ni-Ni were laying on the bed watching TV. The three of us were cuddled up in bed watching Dora the Explorer when someone began banging on our front door.

“Da fuck?” Ronny jumped up. As if the banging wasn’t enough, they began to ring the doorbell like a maniac.

“Stay right here,” said Ronny as he grabbed his .45 out the closet then disappeared out the room. All I heard was ‘Why in the fuck you in my business?’

I went to the top of the stairs to find Brooke standing in my man’s face cursing him out like there was no tomorrow.

“What the fuck is you talking about, Brooke? You need to take that shit up with yo’ nigga,” Ronny told her calmly. Like, she was actually standing in his face like she wanted to try him.

“Hold on now, Brooke, you my girl and all but I’m not about to let you come in my house and disrespect my husband like that.” I pushed Ronny back. Her ass had some nerve.

“You need to tell yo’ husband to mind his fucking business and stay outta mines. I know it was his ass that put Bino up to that shit,” she said angrily.

“Really, Brooke? You really coming over here clowning like that? You need to take that shit up with yo’ nigga,” I said to her. I was trying to remain calm.

“Bino is a grown ass man. I didn’t put his ass up to shit,” Ronny defended himself.

“Yo’ ass is the fucking ringleader! Bo is way up in Maryland. He shouldn’t have to hide inside his house because you and Bino decided y’all wanted be on a fucking stakeout and shit. That shit was foul and y’all know it.”

“Look, Brooke, you need to take that shit up Bino like Ronny said,” I warned her again. Brooke was really on some other shit right about now.

“I’m taking it up with this mothafucker!” she pointed at Ronny.

“No, you need to get yo’ mothafucking ass out my damn house. My husband is not about to be called another mothafucker up in this bitch! You got some fucking nerve to come in here trying to check some damn body when you need to be checking yo’ mothafucking self. If you wouldn’t have been texting and feeding into that nigga’s bullshit then Bino wouldn’t be gunning for that nigga head. Now get the fuck out my house with all that shit!” We were standing toe to toe, both of us ready for whatever. No bitch was about to bring her ass to my damn house calling herself disrespecting my husband. Friend or not, her ass could get it, too! Like I said about Star, it ain’t shit to cut a bitch off!

“Bitch, you can get out my fucking face. I hope like hell you don’t think you putting any type of fear in my heart because you’re not,” she said to me.

“Bitch, I’ll beat the fuck outta you,” I said. I was actually about to hit her ass until I was lifted into the air by Ronny.

“Like I said, keep yo’ husband out my fucking business,” she said before walking out the door. She slammed it so hard a picture fell off the wall and shattered.

“Oh, hell naw, this bitch just broke my fucking picture.” I struggled to get away from Ronny as he carried me up the stairs.

“Man, chill out, Shan. Let me call Bino so he can get his damn girl,” he said to me.

“Yo’ ass better call somebody because I’m fucking that ho up next time I see her. Tell his ass he better put her on a fucking plane back to Maryland because that ass is mines!” I yelled into the phone. That bitch had me on ten.

  Chapter 15

  Cornell

Getting my baby girl Kandice out my ride, I strolled up to Tykise’s door. I hadn’t seen her since the day I walked out my brother’s house. I just wanted to apologize to her for being such an ass. I guess the selfish part of me was expecting her to always be at my beck and call even if we weren’t together. Yeah, how silly of me!

“Hey,” she said when she opened the door. I had called her so she was already expecting me.

“What’s up?” I walked in. I gave her a one arm hugged with Kandice still in my other arm.

“Hey, li’l mama.” She smiled and reached at my daughter. Kandice smiled back but clenched onto me tighter.

I didn’t understand why she didn’t like Tykise. The two of them had never been around one another without me being present so I knew Tykise had never done anything to her. That was another rea
son I couldn’t make things official with her. I mean, how could I when my one-year-old daughter didn’t like her?

“Well I just wanted to personally apologize to you. I don’t know what came over me and I shouldn’t have never went through your phone. I’m sorry about that,” I said, meaning every word. She just nodded her head up and down.

“I hope I didn’t lose a good friend over my own selfishness,” I smiled. She smiled back.

“You’ll never lose me as a friend, Nell,” she assured me. We both got quiet until she asked the million dollar question.

“Is it your baby mama’s death that’s keeping you from committing to me?”

“No,” I answered quickly. “I honestly don’t know what it is. I mean, you’re a good catch and would make any man happy to call you his. But I’m…I’m just not ready.”

I really didn’t know what was wrong with me. Tykise was smart, beautiful, and sexy as hell, so what was stopping me from making her mines was beyond me.

“Is it Star?” she looked me dead in the eyes and asked. I frowned because that question totally caught me off guard.

“Star? Hell no, it’s not her,” I said. For her to even ask me that pissed me off. Star was the last person that was on my mind. Tykise just nodded her head up and down as she stared at me.

We sat and talked for a little while longer before I left. I couldn’t get her question out my head. I didn’t even know what would make her think it was Star that was holding me back from being with her. Shit, Star had a nigga of her own. Blowing out a frustrated breath, I got my li’l mama out the car and headed inside my house.

The next morning I woke up bright and early. Sitting on the side of the bed I ran my hand down my face. I was still having that same dream about Kandi. I knew that shit meant something; I just couldn’t put my figure on it. I talked to Star about it but her ass thought it would be a good idea to talk to that nigga Theodore about it. I didn’t need that nigga up in my business, so that shit went in one ear and out the other.
