“Da-Da.” Kandice came running into my room. I scooped her up.

“Hey, Daddy’s baby. Good morning,” I said to her as I kissed all over her face.

“Star-Star,” she said. I just smiled. My daughter loved Star and her saying her name let me know that’s where she wanted to be.

“Oh so you wanna leave me to go chill with Star?” I asked, tickling her. Grabbing my phone, I called up Star. She let me know I could bring Kandice right over. She loved her just as much as Kandice loved her.

  Willie

I was sitting at the kitchen table having lunch with Debbie when there was a knock on the door. Wiping my mouth with a paper towel, I went to go answer it. It was my son. I hadn’t seen his ass since our confrontation. We both just stood there staring at one another for what seemed like forever before he cleared his throat.

“What’s up?” he mumbled. That boy was as stubborn as they came.

“Man, bring yo’ ass over here.” I pulled him in for a hug. We hugged like I’d just gotten out of prison all over again. I missed my li’l nigga and had let him walk around with his ass on his shoulders for too damn long.

“I’m sorry, Pops,” he said when we pulled back.

“No need to apologize, son. I know you was just looking out for yo’ mama. Just don’t let that shit happen again,” I said back to him. He laughed but I was dead ass serious.

“I’m serious, Ronny. Don’t ever step to me like that again.” I had nothing but seriousness in my tone as I looked him dead in the same green eyes as me. He nodded his head.

“I wont,” he said. I hugged him once more before we made our way inside.

Debbie was staring at us with teary eyes. “About time y’all made up, shit,” she said as she and Ronny hugged.

I knew it was killing her that he wasn’t speaking to me. She was damn near begging Cornell every other day to talk some sense into his older brother. When she wasn’t begging him she was begging me. It was only so much we could do. He wasn’t answering my calls and Cornell said he would always brush him off. I knew my li’l nigga was gonna get his shit together sooner or later, though.

We chilled out on the porch smoking and catching up on the shit he’d been going through. He told me about Brooke coming to his house trying to check him about some shit she should’ve been checking her nigga about. I had to laugh when he was telling me about her and Shan about to go toe to toe. Shit, I’m not gonna lie, that would’ve been a good ass fight there.

“So what about you and Bino? That didn’t come between y’all, did it?” I asked him.

“Hell nah. We cool. If it wasn’t for that nigga I would have let Shan drag her ass. Her ass was talking big boy shit. Then Bino was telling him the bitch was speaking about shit that should’ve never been brought back up.”

“What kind of shit?’ I just had to ask.

“A couple of killings we did.”

I just shook my head. Yeah, Bino was gonna have to control her. If her ass was gonna be bringing up shit like that then he needed to handle her ass before he ended up sitting up in jail somewhere.

“Damn, her ass doing it like that?” I asked as Nell was pulling up.

“Yeah. He say he got that shit under control and he better. I’d hate to murk her like I did her fucking kinfolks.” Ronny laughed but I knew he was dead ass serious.

Nell’s crazy ass walked up clapping his hands together and smiling. “That’s what the fuck I’m talking about. About time yo’ stubborn ass brought yo’ ass over here,” he said to Ronny.

“Fuck you, nigga!” Ronny laughed and the three of us kicked it on the porch just like old times.

  Bino

Brooke’s ass was still walking around with her ass on her fucking shoulders. I had to get into her shit about going over to Ronny’s house starting unnecessary drama at that man’s house. I let her know us going to Maryland was all my idea. Shit, the way her ass was acting she was still in love with her ex-husband. I sat on the back patio smoking a Blunt with a lot of shit on my mind.

“Is she still in love with the nigga?” I asked myself out loud. I tried to shake off the question that I often asked myself every day.

“No,” I heard a soft voice speak from behind. I looked back to find Brooke standing there with tears rolling down her cheeks. We just stared at one another before she slowly walked around and straddled my lap. Looking me deeply in the eyes, she begin to speak.

“I’m so sorry Brandon and I’m not in love with Bo, at all. He’s the father of my kids so of course I don’t want him dead. I don’t need you going to jail over no bullshit. Ronny either. Both of y’all have families that y’all should have been thinking about. Bo and I had cameras all around that house when I lived there so when he called and told me that you was outside of his house that was all I could think about. I had to beg him to not answer the door for you. I’m sorry but I couldn’t have you going to jail for the rest of your life,” she said before kissing me passionately on the lips.

Being that I hadn’t had any pussy in damn near a week, my dick instantly became hard. Brooke raised up, released my rock hard dick from my basketball shorts and eased down on it inch by inch.

“Oooh, baby, I missed you so much,” she said to me as she rode my shit like it would be her last time.

I lifted her up and carried her into the house. I was thankful the kids were in school and I assumed Brandon was upstairs asleep. I began giving it to Brooke right there on the living room floor until we both exploded. Good thing her ass was on birth control because I was pretty sure her ass would have been pregnant after that.

“Aye, Brooke,” I said as we laid on the living room floor quietly. She rolled over in my arms and looked up at me.

“I was serious when I said you better not mention shit else about the shit me and my niggas have done. That shit should never come out yo’ mouth again, ever,” I said to her. She nodded her head up and down quickly.

“I know and I’m so sorry about that. I said all that shit out of anger and I regretted it as soon and it rolled off my tongue.”

That was the end of that until she sat up and spoke again. “Bino, I want you to go with me over to Shan’s house. I wanna apologize to her and Ronny. I was wrong for even going over to their house like that in the first place,” she said sadly. I just nodded my head as I stood up then pulled her up.

Upstairs we showered then got dressed. Once she had Brandon all dressed and ready we headed to Ronny’s house. I called him up before we left the house so he could go ahead and let Shan know what was up. I just hoped they could work this shit out.

“What’s up, nigga?” Ronny and I dapped each other up. He looked behind me and smiled at Brooke.

“What’s up, sis? You in a better mood today?” he teased. She gave a weak smile and he pulled her in for a hug before moving aside to let us in. I didn’t see Shan anywhere.

“Ronny, I just wanna apologize about everything. I should have never stepped to you like that and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

He pulled her in for another hug. “You know I forgive you, sis. You just have to go talk to yo’ girl. You know how she can be,” he said and we all laughed.

“I know, right. Where she at?” Brooke asked as Ronny took our son out her arms. He let her know Shan was upstairs and she could go on up. We decided to stay downstairs and let them have a minute to work shit out. I just hoped nothing jumped off.

  Chapter 16

  Shaniqua

I don’t know why Ronny’s ass was making me talk to this bitch when her ass called herself coming over here showing out on him. I heard a knock on the door and I knew it was Bino and Brooke. I rolled my eyes upwards when I heard her walking up the steps then into my bedroom. It was taking all I had to keep my composure. That’s right, I didn’t play when it came to my husband or my kids and her ass knew that; I don’t know why she felt the needed to come over here trying to jump stupid in the first place. Bitch had me all the way fucked up i
f she thought I was gonna let her step to him wrong.

“Hey, Shan,” she said to me as she picked Ni-Ni up off the bed. I didn’t even say shit back to her.

“Tell yo’ mean ass mama to stop being mad at Auntie Brooke,” she said to Ni-Ni while laughing. I didn’t see anything funny, though. I was really pissed and hurt that Brooke would come to my house on some disrespectful shit.

“Shaniqua, are you really serious right now?” she asked me.

“Yeah, I am. I can’t believe you came over here disrespecting my house like that, Brooke. Like for real, you was really wilding out that day; and I didn’t even appreciate the way you was trying to handle my husband like that,” I replied back to her. I tried to sound as calm as I could.

“I know and I’m really sorry about that. Like y’all said, I should have just took that shit up with Bino and called it a day. You know Ronny is the big brother I never had and you the little sister I always wanted. I love you both and I can promise you that shit will never happen again,” she assured me. “Oh and like you said I shouldn’t have been feeding into Bo’s bullshit,” she said.

I laughed because I had honestly forgot I said that shit.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” was all I said. She waved me off.

“We both were saying shit we didn’t mean. It’s all love,” she said as we hugged. That was my girl and I was just happy we could laugh the shit off and move forward. If I could forgive my sister for the shit she did then I could forgive her.

We sat upstairs in my room talking for a while until it was time for her to go home before the kids got off the bus. Ronny walked into our room and laid across the bed. Like always he got Ni-Ni all amped up with that wrestling shit.

“Bae, why Destiny don’t like to go home anymore?” I asked him, concerned.

“I noticed that shit, too. I’m gonna have a talk with Denise about that. Her ass better not be on no fuck shit or she gonna find herself six feet under with her damn brother if she is,” he said.

“I wonder what’s going on. I asked Destiny why but she always says she like to stay here with us. I even asked her has anyone been touching her.”

Ronny sat up at looked at me as if I had just lost my mind. Scratching his head, he asked, “What you mean by touching her?”

“I mean, I was just asking, Ronny. You can never be too sure nowadays. I don’t know what’s going on but it’s something that’s keeping her from not wanting to go home,” I said to him. I don’t know if he was mad because I asked her that or not but I was just trying to make sure that wasn’t the case.

“Yeah, you right. If Denise been letting that nigga touch on my daughter that’s her ass. I promise I’m killing that bitch. I put that shit on all four of my fucking kids. I don’t play those types of game right there.” I saw nothing but fire in his eyes. I just prayed and hoped like hell that wasn’t going on. I don’t even think Denise would be that stupid to let some shit go on like that.

“When the kids get here I’m going over there. I’m getting to the bottom of this shit. She better hope that nigga hasn’t been touching on my daughter. I swear, Shan.” he choked on his words. I rushed over to him as I saw a tear roll down his cheek. Shit, I almost hated I even brought that shit up. But fuck it, it was something going on.

When I learned that Denise let her boyfriend move in with her I stopped my kids from going over there. Bad enough Destiny had to be around the nigga. I couldn’t stop that because that’s her child but my kids weren’t going to be around his ass. Ronny didn’t like it either but he could only say so much. He let Denise and her little boy toy know that if something happened to his daughter that was both their asses.

“Baby, I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. Maybe we’re reading too much into it. I don’t think Denise would let anything like that go down. You know she loves and cherishes Destiny,” I tried assuring him.

“Yeah, we gonna see.” He grabbed the already rolled Blunt that was resting on the nightstand and left out the room. “I’ll be downstairs,” he said over his shoulder. I just shook my head and said a small prayer that nothing was going on that shouldn’t have been.

  Ronny

I stood at the end of the driveway waiting on my kids to get off the school bus. Just the thought of someone touching one of them had me on ten I didn’t know what the fuck was going on but I would soon find out. Like my wife said, it was something keeping Destiny from wanting to be there. I was so lost in my own thoughts that I didn’t even hear nor did I see the bus pull up. This shit had me all fucked up!

“Daddy!” My little divas ran to me screaming.

“Hey, babies,” I said, leaning down kissing their foreheads. I looked up and locked eyes with the bus driver that had yet to pull off. She was just staring at me so I hit her with a head nod. She smiled and winked. That bitch was bold as shit to do that with my kids right there. I looked down at them and they were staring right at us. I just shook my head as we walked back to the house.

“What’s up, Ray’Shun?” I rubbed the top of my son’s head.

“What’s up, Dad?” he spoke back.

When we walked in the house. Shan was sitting on the couch while Ni-Ni ran around. The kids ran right to her.

“Mama, my bus driver was smiling at Daddy and she did her eyes like this,” Niyah said as she tried to wink. I couldn’t do nothing but laugh. Her little nosey ass didn’t miss shit.

“Tell your bus driver your mama said don’t get slapped,” Shan said seriously.

“Don’t tell her that, Shan,” I laughed. Knowing Niyah she’d tell the lady exactly what Shan said.

“I’m about to go take Destiny home. You riding?” I asked her.

“Do I need to?” she asked. I told her she didn’t have to. She said she felt that it was something Denise and I needed to sit down and talk about alone. I was cool with that. I just wanted to know what was going on with my baby.

“But I don’t wanna go home, Daddy,” Destiny said sadly.

“Why not?” I asked her to see if she was going to tell me what was going on.

“I like staying here,” was all she said. That wasn’t good enough for me. I told her to get her things so we could go and she did. I called her mom to let her know I was on the way and when I got there she was sitting on the porch, waiting. I didn’t like going inside her place when Shan wasn’t with me. I probably went inside there like twice. I mean, shit, there was nothing in there for me but my daughter.

Getting Destiny out, I told her to go inside so I could talk to her mom. She was kind of hesitant but she went on like I said.

“What’s up, baby daddy?” Denise said. I frowned. The fuck was she calling me that shit for? I bet she wouldn’t have dared to say that if my wife was with me.

“Man, what the fuck is going on over here?” I asked her.

  “What you mean?”

“Why my baby don’t like to come home anymore?”

“I don’t know, Ronny. I guess she just like staying over there with y’all. I mean, she don’t have anyone here to play with. Then y’all stopped Niyah and Ni-Ni from coming over,” she had the nerve to say with an attitude.

“Is that nigga still living here with you?”

“He doesn’t live here, Ronny. I keep telling you that. But yes, he does still come over and stay the night from time to time. Why?”

“I’m gonna ask yo’ mothafucking ass one time and one time only. Has that nigga been fucking with my daughter?” The look on my face let her ass know that she better not utter a fucking lie out her mouth.

“Really, Ronny? What the fuck are you trying to ask me?”

“Has that nigga been touching my daughter?” I asked through clenched teeth. She looked offended.

“How dare you ask me some shit like that. You really think I would let some shit go down like that?” she asked me.

“Look, it’s a reason why Destiny don’t like to come back here and if I find out that nigga or somebody been putting th
eir fucking hands on my baby, you gon’ be six feet under with yo’ fucking brother and cousin. Now test me if you want to!” I warned her as I opened the screen door and called for Destiny to come out.

“Hell no, she’s not going no damn where. Destiny get yo’ ass in the house. You not going with him!” Denise’s crazy ass stood in front of the door blocking it so my daughter couldn’t come out.

“Man, get yo’ ass out the way, Denise,” I said to her but she didn’t budge. I ran my hand down my face and tried not to go off in her shit. “Look, I don’t know what the fuck has gotten into you but I’m about to leave to keep from putting my foot in yo’ ass.”

“Yeah, yeah, nigga, you ain’t gon’ do shit so take yo’ good-for-nothing ass on home to yo wife and if you try to take my daughter away from here I’m calling the police,” she said.

I took my whole hand and mushed her ass in the face, causing her to fall flat on her ass. I hated to leave my daughter with her stupid ass but I wasn’t about to risk going to jail over no bullshit. It broke my heart when I backed out the driveway and saw my daughter still standing in the doorway. This was the first time I could honestly say I wished Shan was with me to lay hands on that bitch.

  Chapter 17

  5 months later

  Star

“I’m getting married!” I screamed to my sister and Brooke as I wiggled my ring finger in the air. My mom had invited everyone over for Sunday dinner. While her and Debbie were inside the kitchen, the guys were in the living room watching the game and we were inside my old room. Since we were alone I took it as an opportunity to share it with them first.

“WHAT?!” Shan shouted and grabbed my hand. Her eyes grew big as she admired my rock. It wasn’t as nice as hers but it was damn near.

“Bitch, this is nice. When did this happen? Oh my God, like I am so fucking happy for you.” She pulled me in for a hug.
