“Let me spend some time with my son, please.” Tone looked Mezzie in the eye and suggested.

“Mr. Garcia, You need several new prescription refills. Have you been keeping tabs…oh. I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?”

“Dalia, this is my son and his mother. I will deal with the pills later.”

“Okay. I will go finish running your bath for tonight and dumping your commode. I see you used it last night,” Dalia spoke as she went back in the room. She eyed the expensive handbag that Mezzie kept clutched in her hands.

“The past is the damn past. Leave it there, Miranda! I’m not about to argue with you about this old shit. As you can see I’m paying the price now.” As Tone finished his last statement Reshawn ran up next to Mezzie with his gun already drawn. He put it away once he saw AJ standing in between the two.

“Nigga, if you ever touch my son I’ll personally finish the job,” Reshawn threatened through clenched teeth. Neighbors stood outside watching like they were a reality show. Tone stepped aside and AJ followed behind his father.

“Come in,” Tone said. Reshawn looked at Mezzie and she did the same. They both walked into the house. Dalia came out the room and sat watching from the kitchen stool. “Take a seat.” Reshawn stayed standing but Mezzie sat down.

“Tone, tell me why I shouldn’t blow your head off right now,” Reshawn started.

“For one my son is in the same room and what more can you do that you already haven’t done to me? You see my home aide and my cane. You see the pills sitting here and I know damn well you see my damn hands and face. I have no energy to fight anymore.”

“You could have killed my daughter and baby mother and not to mention the money you cost us in New York. My fiancé also lost her daughter,” Reshawn reminded Tone.

“My intention was to shoot big ass mouth Tiffany, never Tyrisha or Madison. I'm being honest. The baby Mezzie lost was beyond my control. She provoked me and that is how the outcome came to be. The money can be replaced right now.” Tone grabbed his checkbook sitting on the table and wrote a check for 1.7 million dollars out to Moses and Reshawn. He handed the check to Reshawn who had a confused expression on his face; until he looked down at the check.

“I'm out the game. I’m done. A smart man once told me you got to know when to hold them and when to fold them. All my cards are on the table. I want to be a father now. It’s no sense fighting a battle when my own brother is still supplying Moses.”

“You was a father the day he came out my pussy. You can’t just now want to become a father,” Mezzie scoffed.

“You’re right. I’m asking to be in my son’s life. What will happen if you say no is I will go to court and they will just dig up your background and what your fiancé does for a living…I’m sure you don’t want that just like I don’t. Make a truce right here and now.”

“Nigga, if I killed you and your little aide you won’t get the chance to see us in court. As for this check I will be taking it. I’ll let you know on your little peace offering. If you wake up tomorrow, you’ll know if we accepted.” Reshawn grabbed AJ as he kicked and screamed. Mezzie followed behind while Tone sat back and flicked the TV on.

Reshawn and Mezzie sat around Tiffany’s kitchen table informing her on what went down. Tiffany couldn’t believe how bold Tone was to take AJ.

“That nigga broke us off with a check and the shit is legit. I deposited it into the account after leaving his crib. The nigga got a fucking aide and cane. His fucking hands look crazy missing fingers and shit. Lace really did a number on him.” Reshawn said as he stuffed broccoli in his mouth.

“Tiff, I flipped the fuck out when my son wasn’t at that daycare,” Mezzie expressed. She could still feel the pain.

“I could imagine. Let Madison had went missing I would of went the fuck off.” Tiffany took a sip of her water. Moses came back in the room from an important phone call.

“The money is being processed in a few days and you each will have your cut deposited in y’all accounts. Now, Rah, what do you think about this nigga, Tone? You thought he was sincere?”

“The nigga fucked up. He claim he wanna be a father and shit. AJ been crying since we left him. He looked me dead in the eye and said that he was done with this shit and he just wanted to be a father,” Reshawn confirmed.

“So should we kill his bitch or what?” Moses looked around the table.

“Don’t worry about her. I got a plan.” Reshawn smiled peacefully.

  Chapter Twenty-Six

Reshawn pulled on the sidewalk of the house and killed the engine. A week had passed since he been to Tone’s house and he never gave him an official answer and this was his way of sending his answer. He watched as Kim opened the car door and walk to the front door of the house. She rang the doorbell and watched as Tone answered the door. Tone’s face lit up when he saw Kim’s face. He squinted his eyes and looked at Reshawn standing on the driver’s side. He gave him a simple head nod before he spoke.

“I guess this means we’re good?” Tone asked.

“You will never be good in my book, but y’all ok.” Reshawn got in the car and started the engine. Tone kissed Kim’s face a million times over and over. Reshawn rolled his window down and yelled:

“Get ready to have your weekend intruded on. AJ will be here next weekend. Mezzie wanted me to give you that message,” Reshawn shouted out the window. Tone gave him a wide tooth smiled and nodded his head up and down. Reshawn waved as he drove down the block finally happy to have some peace. He had his family and his brothers back. The sky was the limit for Reshawn Ellis.

Tone woke up in a night sweat. He took his sleep apnea machine off his face and turn toward Kim. He missed his wife and loved having her in bed with him. He watched her sleep peacefully before nudging her. What he felt made him pull his hand back, Kim was freezing cold.

“Baby, wake up!” Tone yelled, nudging her frantically. Tone pulled Kim’s head toward him and jumped back at what he saw. A bullet hole sat in between Kim’s beautiful set of sea green eyes and her hand laid on the floor with her wedding band still attached. Tone hobbled out of bed and quickly grabbed his cellphone.

“Who you calling? The party has just began,” Mezzie questioned, sitting in the corner.

“I-I thought we was good? You even said AJ was coming this weekend,” Tone stuttered.

“Nigga, did you really think I would let my son come over here with you? After you killed his sister and left him too,” Mezzie hissed.

“You didn’t have to do her like that. What did she have to do with anything?” Just then another figure appeared in the doorway.

“I can shed some light on that. Kim played with my heart so I played with her, literally,” Lace chuckled. He picked up Kim’s hand and tossed it to Tone who let out a slight scream.

“Who would have thought big Antonio who calls the shots would be scared of a hand. You really do write checks ya’ ass cant cash,” Mezzie said. She shot a bullet right between the eyes. Tone’s body violently shook before he laid there dead like Kim’s. Mezzie blew the smoke as it came out her gun and stood up.

“Let’s get the fuck out of here. Remember this is me and your secret,” Mezzie warned Lace. Lace shook his head and sent his machete into Kim’s body one good time.

“Our secret,” He repeated as they both left, quietly as they came.

Dalia kept her hand over her mouth as she watched the two strangers leave the room. She stayed in the closet for ten more minutes before she stepped out quietly. Tone’s insurance had approved for her to work over night shifts twice a week. She so happen to be in his closet trying to break his combination when she heard voices that weren’t his or his wife. Dalia hid under a section of clothes with her hand over mouth listening to the sound of the guns go off. She listened to Kim beg for her life and Lace make humor out of it.

Dalia quickly left the room and grabbed her belongings out the guestroom and ran
downstairs out the broken back door, careful not to cut herself. She hopped in her car and pulled off with her heart beating a million miles a minute.

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

Through his up and downs with Tiffany he realized she was phenomenal woman who took for granted. Tiffany was the true definition of one man’s ignorance is another’s man blessing. He thought about his beautiful daughter and how he could have had her taken from him and cherished everyday he spent with her. Mezzie, Ray and AJ were also his hearts. As fucked up as Mezzie was, she taught Reshawn how to love and cherish his woman. He lived by the saying blood makes us related but loyalty makes us family.

Reshawn pulled up in the parking lot and waited in his car ten minutes before Mezzie pulled in next to him. They both got out their cars and kissed. He held her hand and kissed her again as she blushed.

  “You ready?”

Mezzie looked down at her newspaper app with the caption “HOME INVASION WENT WRONG” and smiled.

“As ready as I will ever be,” Mezzie responded. They both locked hands and walked toward their therapist’s office together. Mezzie felt her phone vibrate, a text message soon followed:

I know what you did. It was accompanied by a picture of her shooting Tone in the head. Mezzie dropped her shoulders and looked around. Who could have known?

“Baby, can we do this another time? I’m just not ready yet.”

  “I thought you –”

“I know what I said. It’s just some stuff I need to handle first,” Mezzie informed Reshawn, who looked confused.

“Alright baby, I read the paper so I already know,” He said walking back to their cars. Reshawn knew Mezzie like the back of his hands.

Tiffany sat in her car recounting the long day she had. She watched Madison and MJ play in the grass as Moses and Marquise watched from the porch. She leaned back and thanked God for her blessing. She could have been taken far too soon. She said a quick prayer for her best friend who she was sure was in heaven. Although on Earth you couldn’t tell what kind of person she was, Tiffany knew God saw the good Tyrisha had in her heart. Tiffany rubbed the new life that was forming inside of her. The doctor confirmed she was in fact nine weeks along.

Marquise was excited to be a father and the two recently merged their companies together into a new office space in downtown Miami. Lace went back to New York but sent his blessing and was also excited to become a god-father. He promised Miami would experience him sooner than later.

Tiffany got out the car and both children ran and clutched her legs. Tiffany tried to shake them off but Madison sat on Tiffany’s heel and wrapped her legs around her leg. MJ tried to the same but failed and fell down. Tiffany bent down and picked him up and kissed him on his cheeks. Marquise ran down the stairs toward them.

“Ma Ma,” MJ said looking around.

“Ma Ma’s not here but she loves you very much.” Tiffany kissed him again.

“Hey, baby, I told you about carrying these kids,” Marquise reminded her as he took MJ.

“They are fine. I am pregnant, not dying.” Tiffany giggled and continued to walk with Madison stuck to her leg.

“I got some ice cream in the kitchen I’m sure princess Madison would like,” Marquise yelled. Madison got off Tiffany’s leg and ran to the house while Marquise acted like MJ was an airplane and flew him to the house. Tiffany walked behind them admiring her beautiful home and the family she had. She was the meaning of blessings in disguise.

Victor slammed his phone down and took his drink to the head. He shoved the Italian goddess who was giving him head off the bed. He got out the bed and screamed for his new right hand man to come into the room.

  “Everything alright, boss?”

“No, it isn’t. My brother and his wife was just found dead in their house! I want to know who did it and I want them and their family to suffer!” Victor yelled.

“Do you know who you wanted killed them?”

“Moses Ellis. Kill everyone who is associated with them. Stop his supply,” Victor demanded.

“No problem, boss,” Eddie said rubbing his hands together.

  Epilogue –

Moses and MJ walked hand and hand into the condo complex. Moses held MJ’s bag of toys and MJ held his sippy cup and Diego book bag. The two walked past the front desk and got into the elevator. Moses lifted MJ up to press the top floor and put him back on the ground. When the elevator got to their floor Moses grabbed MJ’s hand again and walked down the hall. He took his keys out the bag and opened the door. MJ ran in the condo like a wild animal leaving Moses to pick up everything he dropped. Moses picked up everything and sat it on the couch. He went into the kitchen to look at the mail. While he skimmed through the mail he called out to MJ.

“Moses Jr. You better come put your bag in the bedroom,” Moses yelled.

“You spoil him too much,” Tyrisha teased as she walked out the room with MJ on her hip.

“Ma Ma Ma,” MJ slobbered his mother with kisses.

“I know that’s right, pookie. I missed you, baby boy.” Tyrisha swung him around. Moses sat back watching the mother of his son and his woman play with their child. Tone’s blood may have been running through MJ but Moses was running through his brain.

“I think daddy is feeling a little jealous about us not showing him love,” Tyrisha baby-talked Moses as she kissed him leaving lip gloss on his lips. Moses returned the kiss and rubbed her ass.

That night in that room Tyrisha died and Moses owed his life to Kim saving her. He could sympathize with Kim on trying to save her husband. Where everyone thought she was in the house during the explosion, Moses had her on a plane en route to Tennessee, where his mother now lived. Tyrisha would forever be his woman and he didn’t care what she did. What Lace did was punishment enough for her to know never cross her man again.

Twice a month MJ and Moses took a trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit Tyrisha and his mother. Each time they stayed for two weeks and returned back home. Tyrisha opened another styling company and went back to school to get her degree in business. This was Moses’s little piece of heaven for now while MJ couldn’t talk. He knew soon he would have to break the news to the family about Tyrisha being alive. Both he and Tyrisha were satisfied with their little hidden family. A couple weeks ago, the two got officially married. He looked at Tyrisha’s rock sitting on her finger. He never thought that they would get where they were.

“So what’s new? Tell me some stuff,” Tyrisha asked. She had placed MJ in his room for a nap.

“Tiffany is pregnant. She’s nine weeks along,” Moses announced.

“Aw, I wish I could be there for her like before. I’m happy for her. What’s going on with Reshawn?”

“He and Mezzie are getting married next year. They’re working on themselves in therapy and shit. They just closed on their dream home which is down the block from my house.” Moses chuckled.

“Babe, I really mean this when I say it. I’m very happy for her and Reshawn.” Moses kissed her forehead and slapped her ass.

“Come watch a movie with me, bae.” Moses flipped on TV and sat back with the remote and some candy. Tyrisha sat next to him and leaned on his chest.

“I love you, baby. I really do,” Tyrisha confessed.

“Tee. You already know how much I love you…to death.”
