“No!” she screamed. “Not like this!”

Gorren couldn’t stop smiling as the human from Earth put on quite the spectacle. When Torrin had returned with her, he promised a spirited lust slave, but Gorren couldn’t have even hoped for anything quite like this. She had spirit!

Where all the other females were blubbering about their face, this one was smiling and laughing. Her mind was too strong to be subdued, and when she realized what was about to happen, she resisted.

Excellent! This one would be his. He would take this one back and claim her, driving the spirit from her. Breaking her spirit would be fun. A challenge. As the guards rushed the stage to keep her in place, Gorren made his way closer to the stage. The overseer approached the human woman and held his hand near her. “We shall start the bidding high for this spirited one, huh?” The audience roared their agreement, but the woman’s head snapped to the side and she looked at the auctioneer.

“You speak my language?” she asked. “You have to let me go. You hear me? You have to let me go! I don’t belong here! You don’t want me. I’m no good to you. No one wants me.”

The overseer smiled at her. “Is that right? Let us see if this is so.” Then turning to the audience he said, “Let us start the bidding!”

The woman’s eyes widened as man after man raised his hand. Her head started to slowly shake in disbelief. Denial would do her no good here. Gorren grew disappointed in her display. She looked like she was about to start breaking down and bawling like all of the others.

Perhaps he had been wrong about her? He kept his arms crossed as he watched her reactions. Her eyes roamed over the crowd at each man as they bid. Then, suddenly, they fell on him.

When she saw him, and the way he was disapproving of her, the broken spirit in her face hardened into steel. Her mouth turned down into a defiant grimace and her eyebrows dropped over her eyes, casting them in a shadow.

“Go to hell!” she screamed. Then suddenly she fought her captors anew, nearly toppling them over.

There was the spirit he so desired. Gorren raised his hand and overbid. It was a well-known fact among the others not to bid against Gorren unless they wanted a serious fight on their hands. A fight with Gorren did not end well for the other guy.

After all these years, Gorren had earned himself a reputation, so when he raised his hand, everyone else lowered theirs. Over the years, Gorren’s work had taken him to some of the seedier parts of society, forcing justice on those that would do otherwise.

He’d met many unsavory types and saw bloodshed and broken souls. Over time, it was enough to harden him. He was widely recognized as one of the most powerful of his people, and it was this recognition that helped him climb the ranks.

His new positions would have him sent out to the far reaches of the galaxy, often fighting for the good of the people. When he returned, it was with cheers and the open arms of his people. But there was never anyone at home.

His palace that he shared with his brother was only ever populated by the lust slaves they bought at auction. He hadn’t the time or attention to give a female for a proper relationship, and after all he’d seen, he knew he’d never want one. All of the females he’d ever come across were weak, crying, slobbery people. They could never handle the things he’d seen.

When he returned home from a mission, all he wanted was to bury himself in the flesh of a warm female and release the pent up energy he’d saved from fighting and bringing justice.

Now, though, he was faced with this curvy woman from Earth. She fought like a warrior, stared everyone in the eyes, bold as any man. He needed to take her back to his palace and break her spirit.

He needed to undress her and feel her flesh under his hands. He knew it would be delicious, unlike anything he’d ever had.

Gorren looked up and down the auction stage at the other females. Here was one fighting for her dignity, fighting for her sanity, yet all the others could do was sit and stare, blubbering on as they did. Typical. None were inspired by her fight. None were emboldened by her will. The auctioneer announced that she belonged to Gorren when no one else bid, and Gorren couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face. He needed this woman, and he needed her just that moment.

He would bid on no other females that day. Gorren approached the stage, cut her free from the chain by slicing his hand down on the metal, cutting it with the power of his mind. A sharp tug brought her head near his own.

“You come with me now. I own you.”

“Let me go,” she said back.

He could hear the tremor in her voice. She was terrified, but she acted in spite of it. Or maybe because of it. Gorren breathed deeply of her smell and smiled. “I will enjoy you. If you try to escape, I shall kill you. My property does not flee. Understand?”

“I’m no one’s property!” she screamed.

  Gorren laughed. “You are now.”

He brook no further argument and dragged her behind him as he stalked off toward home. She could drag on the ground or walk behind him, it meant little to him. She apparently thought dragging would slow him down, or break his will, but when it did neither, she quickly found her feet and followed behind.

It was with quiet moping that she walked behind him, knowing too well that her fate was all but sealed.

  CHAPTER TWO

It took all of Abbie’s strength to stay on her feet. They hadn’t been feeding her very well and after all of the fighting on the stage, the strength had gone out of her limbs.

All she wanted to do was run away, but the man that had bought her had ahold of the chain binding her hands together. Besides, where would she go? This strange red alien planet had dust and other aliens in every direction.

If she was going to escape this insane place, she needed a plan. They walked for what felt like miles. She saw vehicles flying overhead, and the occasional floating platform go by, but it seemed like this man didn’t own any of that.

Or, if he did, he just wasn’t using it. Probably that one, she thought bitterly to herself. He just wanted to make her walk, or be dragged behind him.

She couldn’t believe how strong this guy was. She had tried to go dead weight just to weight him down, but he just kept dragging her along like she weighed nothing. Nothing in her life had ever been so strong. Perhaps if she’d gone hiking and ran into a bear… Still, this man was no man, but he sure wasn’t a bear, either.

It was strange, though. The hate she felt for this man, this thing, was real, but it was like something out of a dream. How could she have been bought by the most handsome, sexy alien man thing on this whole place? He looked like the tales of the Greek Gods.

Abbie nearly gasped when she made that connection. Could he be? Could these alien men have been where those tales had come from? Already she’d seen these aliens do things that no human could possibly do.

She wouldn’t be surprised if these alien men were in fact how those myths got started. When they finally reached one of those huge mountainous crags she’d seen in the distance, she almost cried when he went to a staircase and started climbing.

She was already so weak, and he showed no signs of giving a single crap about her. If she collapsed, she had no doubt he’d just drag her behind him up the stairs.

Flight after flight up exhausted her. They seemed to go on forever. They wound deeper into the mountain, or wrapped around it. The sun above never seemed to move at all. Not even an inch. How did they know when to eat? Or sleep? Oh no, Abbie thought. What if they didn’t do either? Would that be the reason they never fed her?

She was going to starve in this place. That is, if the climb didn’t kill her first. They continued up and up until Abbie’s legs almost couldn’t hold her anymore.

  “Can you wait, please?”

“No,” he said simply. It was strange. The sounds she heard weren’t English, or even recognizable, but she understood what he was saying when he spoke.

“I know you’ll drag me, okay? I’m not trying to
slow you down. I sincerely need a rest. Maybe you’re used to climbing these stairs, but I’m not. I’m tired.”

The man stopped and looked down at her. “I’ll not allow you to make a fool of me.”

The simple fact that he stopped, even for a second, was enough for her, she collapsed against the wall of the staircase and panted in deep breaths. Now that she’d stopped, she wasn’t sure she could start again.

  “Oh no,” she whimpered.

  “What is it?” he asked.

“I think this may have been a mistake. Now that we’ve stopped, I’m not sure I can move.”

“When things are hard, it’s always best to push through. You’re always more likely to have already gotten halfway across and would gain nothing by going back.”

“Does that pass as philosophy on this planet?”

“I do not know what that is,” he said and came down a couple of steps, “but it is often the truth. There is nowhere for you to go. We are closer to home than you are to the ground. Lest I push you down the stairs.”

His eyes widened with a dangerous sort of mischief and he grinned.

“If I go,” she said fiercely, “you best believe I’m taking you with me.”

Suddenly he laughed and slapped a hand against the stonewall. “Yes, I believe you will! That is why I bought you. Ah, you amuse me so. Come along, rest is over.”

“No, wait, that was only a few seconds!” Even as she spoke, he pulled her along and she had no choice but to put one foot in front of the other, or else have him drag her face up each step. They continued climbing, but all she could do was try to keep from bawling in her exhaustion.

“Come,” he said over and over. “Come along.”

“I can’t!” she wailed. “Don’t you understand that I can’t? I’m not built like you. I’m not one of you.”

“You’ll often be surprised by what you can endure if you simply give in. Often your fear of pain is what holds you back from experiencing true pleasure.”

“What on earth are you talking about? There is no pleasure in this. You’re insane.”

“First, we are not on earth. Your statement does not apply. Second, the pleasure of reaching the top, of course! Knowing that you did it. You feel like dying now, but just wait. When we reach the top and you look down and see all that you’ve accomplished, you’ll be quite pleased with yourself. And then I shall please myself with you.”

At that he gave a great booming laugh. Abbie hated him and his sexy self, but she had to admit that it was sort of funny the way he said it. She couldn’t believe it when they finally reached the top. His house – his palace – was at the top of this mountain.

The peak was a wide, flat piece of land. It looked as though soil had been brought up to the top here and artificially used to create a lawn and garden. It was stone underneath, though, and not too far deep into the dirt, so she was surprised when she saw trees growing high. The view was amazing. She could see out for hundred miles or more in every direction.

“There,” he said, coming to stand behind her. He brought his mouth close to her ear and whispered, “Do you see? Look at all you have done. Look at all you have accomplished.”

“Get away from me,” she snapped at him.

“Shhh,” he said and put his hands on her shoulders. “Quiet. Have you learned nothing? Endure, and you will experience great joy.”

Abbie threw her elbow back at him and snapped her teeth at his face. Like a true warrior, her elbow felt like it struck stone when it hit the muscles of his abs, and when she tried to bite him, he pulled his head away with a clean, smooth motion.

“Ah ha! Exhausted as she is, she has some fight in her! Excellent. Let us see this fight translate on the bed.”

“No, don’t you dare,” she cried, but he just pulled the chain and dragged her along.

As they neared the palace, she fought him more and more. A part of her wanted to sit and take in the absolutely massive building in front of her, it was like a state capitol or something, but her focus demanded she pay attention to what was going on, where he was taking her.

He was going to take her into the bedroom? Not if she could help it! Fight as she tried, though, there was no denying his strength. She missed the entryway, or the lavishly decorated stairs.

All she knew was that he was dragging her up to his room, no doubt, to have his way with her, and she wasn’t having any of it. When they reached his room, she was nearly breathless at the luxury before her.

The bed alone was larger than her apartment back on Earth. It was ridiculous! The ceilings were high enough that they seemed like they hid the heavens in them. With a wave of his hand he closed the massive double-doors to the bedroom and began taking off his leather straps holding his weapons to him.

He’d dropped her chain, obviously unconcerned about her escaping now.

“No,” she said, backing away from him. Her bare feet slapped along the polished smooth tile floors. Each tile was as wide as she was. “You keep your clothes on, you hear me?”

“Come now,” he said and removed his shirt.

She could see now why it’d felt like she’d struck stone when she hit him. The man not only had the features of a Greek God, but the muscles of a statue. It was impossible not to be hungry when looking at him shirtless. Still, he was the reason she was stuck on this lousy planet, and the hate she felt for him wouldn’t be denied.

She continued to back away from him, but he closed the distance quickly. She turned to run, but he caught her in no time and picked her up in his arms. Her back pressed against his chest, she kicked and screamed as he lifted her into the air and carried her to the far end of the room. Pressing her against the wall, she felt him undo his pants and press his body against her.

“You’re mine, you hear? By the laws of my world, I own you. I do not need the permission of my own property.”

She felt his hardness against her leg. How was he so big? “Try it and I’ll bite it off,” she yelled at him.

She knew full well that he was stronger than her, but she wasn’t going to go down without a fight.

“You touch me and I’ll bite it off, you hear me? I’ll kill you in your sleep! You won’t be able to turn your back on me.”

She felt the head of his penis press against her. If she wasn’t still clothed, she had no doubt he’d be forcing himself inside of her in that moment. His looks, and his strength, she was almost ashamed with herself for how wet she was.

“You would, wouldn’t you?” he asked, amused. “You would try to kill me. You would fail, of course, but you would try.”

“You’re damn right I would,” she screamed, trying to compensate for how turned on she was.

“Yes,” he said softly, “ I can see it in your eyes. That fight, it is what I saw in you. It is why I bought you.” Then, suddenly, he pulled himself away from her. “To win you would be quite the accomplishment.”

Abbie spun around, pressing her back against the wall. “You’ll never win me.”

He grinned and put himself back in his pants. Closing the clasps on them, he leaned forward and said, “Exactly.”

“Please, just let me go. I want to go home.”

The look he gave her was as though she were a child asking why she couldn’t go to the moon.

“No. You’re mine now. You will not leave this palace again. Ever. You are here for my enjoyment. My…” He looked her up and down and licked his lips. “Entertainment.”

“But not until you’ve won me over?”

  He nodded.

All right, she could do this. He was sexy, sure, but if she could hold out, maybe she could get out of here. Maybe he’ll become so fed up with her that he’ll just write her off as a bad investment and release her. That could work, right? She bit her lip, watching the way he looked at her. Right?

“Bear this in your mind. If you refuse me, it will only make things worse for you here. All you have to do is give in. Realize the joys of releasing yourself to the power of
a male.”

  “Not going to happen.”

He stepped forward, pressing his body against hers until she was pinned between him and the wall. “It will. Even now I can smell it on you.”

He leaned forward, his face less than an inch away. She could smell his breath, the musk of his skin. Her eyes involuntarily flicked from his eyes to his lips, watching him.

“Dinner’s in an hour,” he said suddenly and pulled away from her. In an instant, he turned and walked across the room toward the door.

Abbie’s knees buckled. After the strain of walking up all of those stairs added to the most sensual thing to have ever happened to her, she could barely hold herself up long enough for those doors to close. When they did, she slumped to the floor and tried to catch her breath.

All she had to do was hold out and resist him. The more she thought about it, the more difficult that prospect seemed. Then she looked out the window and remembered she was trapped, prisoner, on an alien planet.

Her hate renewed, pushing out any sense of lust or desire. This was more than just her body’s needs. She needed to get off of this planet and away from this man.

Disgusted with herself for her sudden momentary weakness in the face of a sexy man without a shirt on, she stood up and looked around her. First thing’s first: how was she going to get out of this room?

Gorren sat at the table as his servants brought his food. He would win over this woman. He knew she couldn’t resist him for long. He was too powerful. Without a doubt the best in the land. He’d defeated all enemies that ever lay before him, and was rivaled only by his brother in power and prowess.

The woman was interested in him, he knew it. He could smell it on her, see it in the way she looked at him. She desired what he had to offer, but was foolish enough to think she could resist. He would show her what it was like to live under the roof of an alpha. This was his home, his kingdom. Even if she thought she could get away, where was she to go? There was no true escape for her.

He would dote on her, feed her, treat her like a queen and she would become his. Gorren sat and swirled the wine in his glass as he thought about her. She was truly remarkable. He’d never met such a strong-willed woman. He could’ve taken her against her will, as was custom. She belonged to him. Her opinion was no longer valid.
