“Fucking humongous. I’m surprised I didn’t lose an eye or something,” she laughs, making me snort.

We’re still laughing when we walk back out to Chase. “I’m gonna organise a big welcome home dinner for Pops tomorrow night, at the club house,” Chase says.

“That’s nice,” I answer, snuggling into his side.

“You should come Dana,” he adds.

“Ummm, I don’t know.” She’s smiling though, so I can tell she wants too. That or she’s still thinking about Hudson’s giant cock.

“You’re coming,” I state. It will be nice to have her with me.

“Okay,” she shrugs casually. Bitch. She’s acting like she’s not fussed either way, but I bet she’s doing friggin’ cartwheels on the inside.

  ••••

“Nope, I can’t wear this either,” Dana says tossing another dress on my bed. She’s brought half her damn wardrobe over to my house. After discarding all of them, she’s now working her way through my closet.

“It’s only a small family dinner, not the Oscars. I’m just wearing jeans.”

  “Really?”

“Yes. Everyone will be dressed casually. We’re going to a biker clubhouse remember, not the Ritz.”

“I guess,” she sighs, slumping on the bed.

“I know you want to look nice for ‘Giant Cock’,” I giggle.

“I do not…I didn’t even know he was going to be there,” she snaps defensively. Who’s she trying to kid?

“You liar. You fucking knew. I’ve never seen you so fussy with how you’re dressed. Remember, he had the hots for you in that hideous brown uniform you wear to work, so you could turn up in a paper bag and still impress.”

She blushes at my comment before laughing. She is so not a blusher. It kind of worries me. I think she has it bad for the guy.

An hour later we’re ready to go. Chase is at home with Pops. He told him he’d take him to the clubhouse later. Pops has no idea Chase has organised the welcome home party. Dana and I are meeting Chase at the clubhouse. We need to arrive before them so we don’t ruin the surprise.

I settle on my dark denim skinny jeans, a nice fitted, off the shoulder red top and my long tan boots. I’ve left my hair down because Chase says he likes it like that.

Dana on the other hand, is wearing a tight black mini dress, accompanied with black sky-high, ankle boots. She has harlot red lipstick on, which goes nice with her long flaming red hair. She looks hot. Super hot. ‘Giant Cock’ is definitely going to be busting out of his pants when he sees her. A lot of the guys probably will be.

  Shit, this could get dangerous.

Dana is quiet on our drive over there. It’s unusual for her. I wonder if she’s nervous. She’s always so confident. “Stick with me tonight,” I tell her as I drive down the long driveway, towards the gates of the compound.

“Uh huh,” she answers looking nervously out the window. “It looks like a prison with these high fences and barbed wire everywhere.”

“I know. These people are bikies. Remember that. They seem nice, but please don’t leave my side, okay?”

“Okay,” she replies with a smile.

“Are you going to talk to ‘Giant Cock’ when we get inside?” I ask as we walk towards the house.

“Stop calling him that,” she giggles. “I don’t know. To be honest, I kind of feel sick in the stomach about seeing him again. Or maybe it’s just my uterus warning me to keep that giant fucker away from me.”

We’re both laughing at her comment as we walk through the door. That stops as soon as we hear the wolf whistles start. “Oh fuck. I should’ve listened and worn the jeans,” she whispers so only I can hear. I agree.

There’s a group of guys sitting around the table. All eyes are on Dana. My eyes travel around the room until they land on Hudson. He’s glaring at the guys who are staring at her. Fuck.

“Come with me,” I say, dragging her towards the kitchen, out of the predatory gaze of the males. “Hi, by the way.” I wave over my shoulder to them, before disappearing around the corner.

Dana gets a once over from a few of the ladies in the kitchen too. Shit. I’m not sure if we’re safer in here or out there. I wish Chase would hurry up. “Hi,” I say when a few of the girls come over and hug me. “This is my friend, Dana. She’s the one who called the ambulance when Pops was shot.” I add the last bit, hoping to put in a good word for her.

“Oh,” they reply, which thankfully earns her a few hugs as well.

We hang in the kitchen waiting for the call to say Chase and Pops are on their way. Once it comes, we head back into the main room. Dana’s met with at least twenty pairs of hungry eyes as we round the corner. My gaze moves to Hudson. Like the others, his eyes are glued on her. He looks pissed.

Even though everyone seems nice enough, I feel uncomfortable being here without Chase. Scanning the room, I see a huge “Welcome home Pops” banner hanging on the back wall. It brings a smile to my face.

“Five minutes away,” one of the boys call out, hanging up his phone.

“Wanna get a drink?” I ask Dana, as I lead her towards the bar. Anything to make the time go a little faster. I think it’s the way the guys are looking at her, like she’s their next meal, that’s giving me the heebie-jeebies.

My eyes are trained on the door, while Dana flirts with the guy behind the bar. As soon as Chase and Pops walk into the room, my heart starts to race. It’s only been a few hours, but I’ve missed him. Pops is on crutches until his bullet wound heals. Within seconds, he’s surrounded by people.

Stepping away from the crowd, Chase scans the room until his eyes meet mine. A huge smile graces his face when he spots me. Leaving Pops, he makes his way towards me. Pushing off my stool, I head for him as well. We meet in the middle.

“Hi beautiful,” he says, pulling me into his arms. “I’ve missed you.”

“I missed you too,” I reply, brushing my lips against his. “How’s Pops been?”

“He’s good. Happy to be home.” Chase looks over at his dad and smiles. “I’m happy to have him home.”

  “Same.”

“Do you mind if we stay at my place again tonight? I don’t want to leave him on his own just yet?” Chase asks.

“Of course not. I was going to suggest that anyway. As long as I’m with you, I don’t care where I sleep.”

“What the hell is Dana wearing?” he asks, looking over my shoulder. “The guys will eat her up dressed like that.”

“Tell me about it,” I respond.

“Nobody hit on you while I wasn’t here, did they?” he asks, pulling back from me to look at my face.

  “No.”

  “You sure?”

“Yes,” I giggle. “I don’t think they even noticed I was here. Their eyes were trained on Dana.”

“Oh they would’ve noticed you, sweet-cheeks. You’re very noticeable.” He tucks my hair behind my ear as he says it. “I love you hair like this,” he adds.

“I love you,” I say smiling. He leans forward placing his lips against mine.

“Can we leave now? I want to take you home,” he whispers into the crook of my neck. I giggle at his comment. “You smell so good.”

“I haven’t even said hello to Pops yet.” Lacing his fingers through mine, he leads me over towards his dad.

“He was disappointed you weren’t at the house when we arrived home. I told him you were out with your friend. I didn’t want to ruin the surprise.”

“Sweet-thing. You’re here,” Pops says with a huge smile as soon as he sees me. “Chase said you were out with your friend.”

“She’s here too,” I say as I turn around to point in her direction. My heart drops when I see she’s no longer sitting at the bar. “Where did she go?” I ask to nobody in particular, my eyes frantically scanning the room.

“I don’t know,” Chase answers, looking around the room as well.

“I’ll be back, Pops,” I say. “I’m gonna go and look for Dana.”
As I walk away from them, I hear Pops call out, “Anyone seen the redhead?”

“I think she went out back,” the guy who served us our drinks answers. Fuck. Why did she leave when I specifically told her to stay near me?

Chase follows me outside and down the back stairs. “Where the hell has she gone? Dana,” I call out.

“Stop stressing. She couldn’t have gone too far.”

“Dana,” I call out again. I’m starting to panic now. All I can think of is what Riley did to me. I’d hate for something like that to happen to Dana. “Dana, are you out here?”

“I’m here,” she says. I turn my head just in time to see her emerging from around the side of the house. She’s straightening up her dress as she walks towards me. What the hell? Then, I notice ‘Giant cock’ walking behind her, hand on crotch, adjusting that monstrosity in his pants. Now it all makes sense.

“What the hell?” I say as I pull her towards me. I have to hold in my laugh when I see her red lipstick smudged all over her face. She looks like a damn clown. I’m grateful when Chase walks back into the house, chuckling. Hudson’s following close behind. He probably realises Dana and I are going to have words.

“What?” she asks, trying to look all innocent. Her clown fucking lips tell me that’s not the case.

“What?” I angrily whisper. “I told you not to leave my side. I was worried about you. Only ten minutes ago half the guys in there looked at you like they wanted to eat you alive.”

“I’m sorry. You were busy with Chase and Pops. Hudson grabbed my arm, dragged me off the stool and hauled my arse out here. I didn’t have a chance to tell you.”

“Why did he bring you out here?”

“He didn’t say. He just pushed me up against the wall and attacked my lips.”

  “You didn’t, you know?”

  “Fuck him?” she asks.

  “Ummm, yeah.”

“I don’t know how lover boy works, but we were only out here a few minutes. I’d be pretty fucking disappointed if we did.”

“Okay,” I say as I wrap her in my arms. “I’m just glad you’re alright. I was worried.”

“I’m fine,” she replies, hugging me back. “I’m sorry if I made you worry.”

“What’s going on between you two anyway?”

  “Fucked if I know.”

“You like him don’t you?” She shrugs at my question. “You fucking like him you know it,” I laugh, bumping her shoulder. “You want a piece of that ‘Giant cock’ don’t you?”

“Shut up,” she says laughing. “I put my hand on it when he was kissing me. It’s monstrous. I’m worried I’d require surgery if I had sex with him.”

Chase comes over to us as soon as we walk through the door. “Everything okay?”

“Yes. I’m sorry I freaked out,” I say to both of them.

  ••••

Dana doesn’t leave my side for the rest of the night. Although, I do notice her and Hudson can’t take their eyes off each other. “What do you think of Hudson and Dana?” I whisper to Chase when Dana goes to the bar to get a drink.

“She’s pretty feisty, but I think he could handle her.”

“Ha ha,” I say to him.

“They’re adults, Angel. What they do is none of our business. I’ve known Hudson for most of my life. He’s pretty cool, if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Do you think she’d be safe if we let him take her home? I think she really likes him.”

“Ask her. If she wants that, I’ll organise it.”

“You’re the best,” I say as I lean forward and brush my lips against his.

  ••••

Dana agreed to let Hudson take her home last night. I texted her this morning to make sure she was okay. She didn’t say anything about him in her reply, which didn’t impress me. When Chase said he had to take Pops for physio on his leg later that day, I got him to drop me off at the Coffee shop on the way.

After Dana makes our drinks, we sit down in a booth. “Spill,” is the first word out of my mouth.

  “I survived,” is her reply.

  “Survived?”

“The ‘Giant cock’,” she says laughing.

“Oh God. You bumped nasties with him already?” I asked shocked.

“Yes. It was AMAZING. I think I’m in love.”

  “Shut up. You are not.”

“Okay, maybe not in love, but lust. Definitely lust.” To be honest, she’s glowing. I’ve never seen her this happy.

  “Wow.”

“He might just be the one. My Mr. Right.”

  “Really?”

“Yes really. Nobody has ever made me feel like this. I mean ever. Now I totally get this thing between you and Chase.”

“Oh my God. You’re going to be a bikie mole, and have little biker babies,” I squeal. She laughs at my comment.

  “I really like him, Angel.”

“I can tell. I’m happy for you,” I say reaching over the table to grab her hand. “I hope for your sake, he’s the one. Just take it slow. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

“Thanks, babe. How are things going with you and Chase?” I’m quiet for a minute. As a whole, things are great. I know we’ve had our fair share of drama, but we seemed to have worked through all of that. I do have something that’s been worrying me the past few days, though; something that could possibly be a deal breaker for us. I’m just not sure if I’m ready to say it out loud.

“Hey,” Dana says squeezing my hand. “By the look on your face, I’d say there’s trouble in paradise. I thought things were great between you two.”

  “They are. It’s just…”

“Just what?” she asks. I shrug. I’m not sure I want to discuss it with her. “Talk to me, Angel.”

  “I’m late.”

  “Late?”

“Yes. Like I skipped a period, late.”

“You think you’re prego?” she practically screams as her eyes bug out of her head.

“Jesus, tell the whole damn world why don’t you.”

“Shit. I’m sorry. That’s the last thing I expected you to say. What does Chase think?”

“I haven’t told him. He told me he doesn’t want kids.”

“Shit,” she says, sympathy lining her voice.

“Oh, Dana. When we first got back together, we kind of got lost in the moment and had unprotected sex. It was awful. Not the sex, his reaction I mean. He freaked out. It happened again the other night, and he reiterated again how he doesn’t want kids. I’m scared to bring it up. He’s not going to be happy.”

“You might just be late from all the stress you’ve been going through. It happens.”

  “That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t think I’m ready to become a parent.”

“What are you going to do if you are?”

“I’m not getting rid of it. No fucking way. No matter what Chase says, I couldn’t live with myself if I did that.”

  “Aren’t you on the pill?”

“Yes, but I stopped taking it for a few days after the Riley incident, so there’s a chance. A big chance. Oh fuck,” I say as tears rise to my eyes. Saying it out loud makes it so much more real.

“Jesus, babe,” Dana says as she moves to my side of the booth, wrapping me in her arms. “Do you want me to come to the doctor with you?”

“No. I’m just going to wait a little longer and pray that they come.”

“What about a home test? It’ll ease your mind.”

“I guess I could do that.” I feel sick in the stomach. I’m sure I’ll deal with it if I’m pregnant. I won’t really have a choice. It’s Chase’s reaction that worries me. Oh, and my dad. He’ll flip his lid.

“Stay here,” Dana says. “I’ll go down to the pharmacy and get one.”

“Thank you.” Even though I’m not sure I want to know, the not knowing is killing me.

“Whatever happens, I’m here. Just remember that.” She squeezes me tight before getting up. I guess in a few minute
s, I’m going to know either way.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

  Chase

A few days have passed since Pops came home. Angel and I have been staying here when we’re not at Uni. Neither one of us want to leave him alone until he’s back on his feet again. He can only get around with the aid of crutches at the moment.

“Hey, beautiful,” I say to Angel as I slide my hands around her waist from behind.

“Hey,” she replies in a deflated tone. There’s something off with her. She’s been quiet for the past few days. Not herself. Maybe it’s just the stress of everything that’s been going on lately, maybe it’s something else. Either way, I intend to find out.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, resting my chin on her shoulder.

  “Nothing,” she shrugs.

“You haven’t been yourself the past few days. I know something’s bothering you. Talk to me, sweet-cheeks.”

“I need to get this in the oven,” she says pulling away from me.

“It can wait.” I take the roasting pan out of her hands and turn her in my arms. “Talk to me,” I demand. I need to know what the fuck is going on. I’m worried about her. Not knowing what’s going on inside that pretty little head of hers has me thinking all kinds of crazy shit.

  Me and my stupid insecurities.

“Later, okay. The roast will take three hours to cook. I need to get it on now.”

“A few minutes isn’t going to make much of a difference.”

“I have an appointment at 4:00 p.m. I need to get this in the oven so I can have a quick shower before I leave.” She turns away from me and picks up the pan. Fuck she can be frustratingly stubborn sometimes.

“You have an appointment? Where?” This is the first I’ve heard about it.

“Just a check-up at the doctors. Nothing important.”

“A check-up? Are you sick or something?” I ask concerned.

“No,” she snaps, screwing up her face. “People have check-ups all the time, Chase.” Wow. She’s never used that attitude with me before. I don’t like it. Not one fucking bit.

I stand and watch her place the roast in the oven. Of course my eyes roam down to her luscious arse when she bends. Looking at her sweet-cheeks will never get old.
