Emma Spaulding Paranormal Detective: Sasquatch (A Hemisphere Story Book 1)

  “Look! Is that—” she said.

Emma leaned forward and looked out Audri’s side of the helicopter. There, below, stumbling through the grass just beyond the tree line was a naked middle aged man with a pot belly.

“It’s him! I would recognize that cute little butt anywhere!” Audri said, sitting up straight, her smile broad.

Emma smiled too, keeping her mouth shut about the odds of a wandering naked man in the forest being anybody but Audri’s once Sasquatch husband. Of course, this was Hemisphere, Emma reminded herself. Anything could happen, and something always did.

  Epilogue

Odelina stepped into the cinder-block cell, smirking at the thought that this was an upgrade, a reward for releasing the petty human from her spell. The guard escorting her stopped in the door, stopped her with a brusque jerk on the cuffs that still kept her hands behind her back. The cuffs removed, she stared straight ahead at the wall, a narrow window set high. Another concession in their agreement.

“This won’t hurt you. It is not intended for you,” Odelina said.

The guard paused, looking at the side of Odelina’s head. He was young, inexperienced. Odelina thought that made him her only chance, a window of opportunity more narrow than the window in her cell.

“What?” the guard said, one cuff loosed, the other still around her left wrist.

“Papyrus Transmorpheus Permanenti Nei," she whispered.

The young guard released the other cuff and stepped back, visibly shaken. Odelina turned around and smiled at him.

“Not to worry, young one. Like I said, it was not meant for you,” she said, watching as the young guard swallowed audibly.

“No talking, inmate!” a second guard said, this one looking not so inexperienced. He stood in the corridor, pointing a rifle at her head.

The young guard looked at Odelina a second more and then stepped out of the cell. The heavy door slammed shut and Odelina was alone. She went to her window and stared up at the clear blue sky.

  * * * * *

At the bottom of a deep vertical shaft, down a dank tunnel in the ground, there was a dinner party. Suffused in the amber glow of several candles, the break-off room was alive with activity. A Hollywood actress and a Ship’s Captain mingled with a 1940’s era Gangster and an Astronaut. The Queen of England stood in a corner, chatting with a Roller Derby Team. Other guests of various walks of life talked, laughed, and sipped their drinks. In the middle of it all, a cardboard cutout stood motionless, an old man, a Balloon Man, the lone and silent witness to the surrounding communion.

Under Cover, But Not Under Wraps

Hello. Hemisphere Books would like to introduce to you four undercover authors. “Undercover authors?” you might wonder. What exactly, does that mean? Simply that Billy, ‘G’ (he refuses to tell us what the ‘G’ stands for), J.J., and Kitt are established authors under real names… but their fans aren’t particularly fond of the paranormal and fantasy genres.

So one day, when Billy came up with the idea for Hemisphere and asked if we were interested in writing in that wonderfully weird world, the rest of us said, “Hell yeah!” And when J.J suggested we hide out from our current fan bases by taking on pen names, the guys said, “Hell, yeah!”

  And here we are.

  Anything Can Happen

A Paranormal Detective with a chip on her shoulder and a parrot for a partner. A chain smoking guardian angel protecting the righteous from things that go bump in the night. A time traveling romance and a day that just won’t seem to end. How about a suited up vigilante who has all the right tools to put down demon-spawn. He lets his fingers do the talking. And all that is just for starters.

Welcome to Hemisphere, where anything can happen, and something always does.

  Don’t miss a thing.
