Bear and I both stand, but he’s the first to yell, “What the fuck do you mean, she’s missing?”

“I don’t know. He’s on his way back with Angel. Said to call church,” Wheels answers, then rushes out of the room, probably in search of everyone else to let them in on what happened.

I stand there, my body vibrating with rage, but unable to move and nowhere to go to unleash it. Once I find out what happened and who took her, there will be hell to pay. The devil is whispering in my ear, playing me his favorite tune. The song of death and destruction.

Torq shows up ten minutes later, with a devastated Angel in tow. He sits her at the bar and tells one of their prospects to keep an eye on her. Then, everyone heads into the chapel.

“What do you know?” Bear says, getting everything kicked off before the door is even closed and everyone has had a chance to sit. Not like anyone is thinking about sitting anyway. We’re all wired and pissed that this happened. Me more than any of them. This is the woman I love we’re talking about.

“Angel and I went to pick her up. But when we arrived, people were crowded around the front, police just showing up. One of the orderlies was shot as he was waiting outside with a patient to be picked up. That patient was Amy. No one was around or saw anything. No one except the dead orderly. That’s all I know. Didn’t stay around to ask questions, just got here. We can get information faster than LEO anyway.”

“Teto. Get me footage from the hospital or nearby buildings. See if we can get eyes on what happened and who took her,” Bear says, barking orders to everyone. “Torq, get Angel to a safe house. Put the prospects on her. Cross, call our surrounding support clubs, have them keep their eyes and ears open. Everyone else, get ready. When we know who did this and where they took her, we’re puttin’ them to ground. No hesitation. No fuckin’ mercy.”

Everyone leaves the room except me and Bear. He turns to me, his eyes blazing. “We’ll find her, brother.”

Damn right we’re going to find her and then I’m going to be the one to kill whoever fucked with her. I just hope that it’s not too late.

Teto comes in a half hour later with his computer. Most of the other brothers follow him in. “I got something, Prez. But you ain’t gonna like it,” he says, putting his computer down and showing us the screen. Looks like video from a surveillance camera at the hospital.

Hitting play, we see Amy being wheeled out and the man Torq said is now dead. They sit there for a few minutes, chatting. Amy is smiling, but she still looks tired. Fuck, she looks beautiful, even pale and still a little bruised.

Then we see a dark grey SUV pull up. At first, it looks like Amy is expecting them, but then she must realize it’s not who she thought it was because she turns her head away. A man gets out of the vehicle, holding a gun.

I hear Torq growl, “That motherfucker.”

I look at him and then back to the screen just as he shoots the orderly behind Amy, and then grabs her. I don’t recognize him at first. Not until he turns to the right and I see his scar.

“No,” I yell, unable to look away from the video. Amy fights at first, but then I see his lips moving close to her ear and she goes still. Not from being hurt, but from fear.

After all these months, her nightmares have become real. The man she dreamt would take her has her now and god knows what he’s going to do to her. What’s already been done to her.

“Do we know anything about where he took her?” Bear asks, his voice low and full of anguish for Amy and a deep rage waiting to be unleashed on Georgie.

“I’ve been looking for that fucker ever since that night in Illinois with Angel. If he had a place around here, I would have known about it. But I don’t think he’d try to take her too far away either. It’s too risky. He’d be hunkered down somewhere, waiting for the right time,” Torq says, and I know he’s beating himself up right now. He’s probably thinking if he had found him by now, none of this would have happened. Or that if he would have killed him when he had the chance the first time, neither woman would have been taken.

Someone’s phone rings. Teto’s. He answers it, but then doesn’t say anything else. He just listens, and then hangs up the phone as he pulls something up on his computer.

“That was a contact I have within the system. He said there was a report of a woman being carried away a few miles outside of town on Highway 42. Matches Amy’s description,” he tells us, looking at the map. “Here. There’s a cabin not far from where they were spotted. That’s our best bet.”

We all gather around the computer, looking at where he’s pointing.

“Everyone ready?” Bear asks, looking up at each of us.

“Fuck yeah,” everyone answers before heading out, only one thing on their mind. Getting Amy and killing that sonofabitch, once and for all.

  CHAPTER

  EIGHTEEN

  Ice Man

We ride out with the van and truck, loaded to the hilt with weapons. We don’t know what we’re about to roll up on, but all that matters is getting Amy out of there.

No one looked to be with him either time they were spotted, but that doesn’t mean someone isn’t working with him. It wouldn’t be the first time that fucker teamed up to get what he wants. So we aren’t taking any chances.

Pulling off the highway, we park at the beginning of the drive. Nothing is out here except for trees, desert, and the cabin.

“Cross, take Crusher and Leroy with you. Do a sweep, make sure no one is outside close by. Take out anyone you see,” Bear orders, and we watch those three take off quietly into the night.

“Torq, Ice Man, and I will take the front of the cabin. Wheels and Teto, you take the back. We’re spread thin, so be careful. Keep your eyes open. And remember; we show no fuckin’ mercy,” he says to the rest of us.

Staying low to the ground, we make our way toward the cabin. We can see a light on inside, but so far, there is no movement either inside or outside the house.

Bear motions for Wheels and Teto to split away from us, going toward the back, as we continue on to the front.

When we are right up against the house, Torq peeks into one of the windows. Sliding back down, he says, “I see them. Only the two. They’re in the kitchen. She’s tied to a chair and he’s standing a few feet from her.”

“Does she look to be hurt?” I ask, afraid to know the answer, but needing to know regardless.

“Not that could tell, but I can’t be sure,” he answers.

Bear thinks for a minute, then pulls out his phone. He sends out a few texts and then waits a few moments before looking at his phone again.

“Cross didn’t see anyone. They are on their way back and will meet up with Wheels and Teto. Once they’re in place, they’re gonna see if they can get inside without bringing attention to themselves. Then, once we have men on the inside, we’ll take him out.”

“I want to be the one to kill him,” I tell Bear, but I’m looking at Torq.

“We’ll both share that pleasure, brother,” Torq answers and I nod, as it’s both our right.

A few minutes later, I’m getting twitchy. I don’t like her being in there any longer than needed, but we can’t be reckless. Her life depends on it.

Suddenly, we hear Georgie raise his voice, yelling about how my crew fucked something up for him.

All we can do is listen as we get bits and pieces about the plan he has for all of us. How he was going to pick us off, one by one, to pay us back. And he’s going to start with Amy. Like fucking hell.

Bear’s phone lights up, and he looks down at it. “Cross and Crusher are inside,” he says, still looking at his phone. “He’s got a shot, but he’s worried Amy is too close.”

I hear Amy start to cry and it breaks my heart and fuels me at the same time. Looking at Bear, I say, “Take it. But do not fuckin’ kill him. Tell him to line it up, but wait until I bust through the door. Hopefully it will surprise him enough so he can get a clearer shot away from Amy.”

  He rela
ys the message and I make my way onto the porch. Thankfully, it’s too far gone to make noise.

Looking down to Bear and Torq, I nod, then take a deep breath before throwing all my anger into what I’m about to do. Lifting my leg, I kick the door so hard, it literally flies off the hinges.

“You aren’t going to lay a fuckin’ finger on her,” I yell just as I see Cross fire one bullet that drops Georgie to his knees.

I don’t waste any time rushing him and kneeing him in the face, effectively knocking him out cold on the wood floor.

Amy is still crying, her head bobbing. Hurrying over to her, I cut the rope tying her to the chair and then lift her into my arms, which makes her cry even harder. “Shh, sweetheart, I’m here. You’re safe. I’ve got you.”

“I-I was s-so scared,” she cries into my shoulder, then groans.

I stop my movement outside, wanting to get her as far away from that asshole as possible. “Are you hurt?” I ask.

“My head hurts,” she murmurs, sounding sleepy. I look at her face and see her lip cut and a bruise forming on her cheek.

Fuck. And just as I think that, her whole body goes limp.

“Bear,” I yell, sitting down so I can get a better look at her without fear of dropping her and injuring him more.

Bear and Torq come rushing out, looking at us sitting on the porch. “She needs to go to the hospital. Now,” I rush out, just as the truck comes barreling into the drive, with Teto behind the wheel.

“Take her there. We’ll get things sorted here, then meet you there,” Bear says, and helps me get her into the truck.

“Don’t do anything with him until I get there. I mean it, Bear.” I look him dead in the eyes, showing him I’m not fucking around.

“I won’t, brother. You’ll get what’s owed to you. You have my word,” he answers back, which is good enough for me.

Jumping into the driver’s seat, I take off like a bat outta hell toward the hospital. Please, god, don’t let it be anything serious. She just got out of the hospital, and I know Angel said when she texted me earlier that she needed to take it easy as to not aggravate her brain injury. I have no idea what happened to her while she was with that fucker, but I know whatever it was, it can’t have been good.

Screeching to a halt in front of the emergency room doors, I carry her inside. “Someone help me, please,” I yell out to no one in particular.

“What happened to her?” a woman in red scrubs asks.

“She was released from Dr. Montgomery’s care today, but she was taken just outside the hospital. I’m worried something happened to her head. She said it hurt and then she passed out. I don’t know anything else,” I say in a rush.

“Gina, get Dr. Montgomery on the line. Tell him he’s needed, stat,” she says to a nurse, then turns to me. “Sir, do you know if her head was hit in any way, either from a fall or someone hitting her?”

  “I don’t know,” I growl. I already told her everything I knew.

“Okay. We need to take her back. Please wait out here,” she says as they start to wheel her away.

“Like hell! You fuckers are the reason she was taken and hurt in the first place,” I yell, seething, even though I know it’s irrational. It’s not the hospital’s fault. Well, mostly it’s not. But she was taken on their watch, and it never should have happened. Don’t they have security or some shit?

“Sir, the best thing for her right now is for us to get her back there so we can examine her. And for you not to go to jail. She’ll need you when she wakes up. I give you my word, nothing will happen to her if we get her back there to be treated in time.” I think I like this chick. She didn’t falter and shudder in fear from me. She stood up for Amy and I have to respect that.

Stepping back, she nods. “I’ll let you know as soon as I know what’s going on. Just wait out here,” the doctor lady says and then the doors close behind her.

I call Bear to let him know she’s being examined, but I don’t know anything yet.

He replies that they are in transit to one of their warehouses. He’ll send a brother over soon to sit here with Amy so I can be there for when shit goes down with Georgie.

Forty minutes pass and Angel shows up with the prospects tailing behind. “Oh my god, Ice Man! Is she okay? Have they told you anything?”

I give her a hug, then sit down with her. “They haven’t been out since they took her back.”

A tear slips down her cheek but as she wipes it away, anger takes over her whole face. She’s pretty fucking scary when she’s pissed. “Did he do anything to her?”

I know exactly what she’s asking about. I wish I knew the right answer. “I honestly don’t know. I don’t think so, but I just don’t know.”

She hugs me again, then sits with me quietly, waiting to know how our girl is doing.

It doesn’t take long either. Soon after Angel arrived, Dr. Montgomery walks into the waiting room.

“Hello again, you two. I was hoping we wouldn’t see each other for a few weeks,” he says goodheartedly, but I just don’t have it in me to make jokes right now. Not before I know Amy will be okay.

“Doctor, how is she?” Angel asks before I get the chance.

“She’s going to be just fine. Some of the swelling is back, but that should go away again after some rest. But I’m going to keep her overnight so we can do another scan in the morning. I also want to check a few other things after she wakes up since we gave her more pain meds, which will keep her sleeping until morning. But I want to make sure she remembers everything and is having no issues with speech. We’ll know more tomorrow, but I think she’s fine.”

“Oh, thank god. Thank you so much, Doctor. We really appreciate it,” Angel says, hugging him. I shake his hand and watch him leave the room.

Taking Angel’s hand in mine, I tell her, “I need you to stay here with her. Don’t leave her side, okay? I’ll have the prospects posted outside the door as well. I have some things to take care of, but I’ll be back before she wakes in the morning.”

She nods. “I will. We’ll be fine. You go on. I’ll let you know if anything changes,” she says.

I start for the door, but she stops me, “Ice Man?”

Looking at her, I say, “Yeah Angel?”

With death in her eyes, she replies, “Make him suffer.”

I nod. “I plan on it.” Then I head outside and wait for whoever Bear sent for me. Soon, I’ll be able to make the man who took my woman pay. The man who gave her nightmares. And who took and violated her friend. All of his sins will come to judgment today. The night will be painted in red with his blood. I won’t stop until I make it so.

  ***

It takes me about a half an hour to get to the warehouse.

Making my way inside, I see Georgie strung up from the rafters. Good. Now he can’t go anywhere, but he’s wide open and vulnerable. Makes things easier for us.

I notice he’s a little worse than the way I left him. Looking at Bear, he stares at me. “I said you both get to finish him. Didn’t say anything about getting mine in first.”

Laughing a little, I nod. Then, turning to Torq, I ask, “How you want to do this, brother?”

Torq opens his mouth to reply, but before he gets the chance, Georgie starts laughing. “How are my girls doing? Hope you both are keepin’ ’em nice and fresh for me.”

I rush him, growling, and hit him square in the jaw, making his whole body whip around on the chains he’s hanging from.

“Shut your fuckin’ mouth. Don’t fuckin’ talk about them, much less even think about them,” I seethe.

He spits blood at my feet, then smiles, his teeth painted red. “Oh, I’m thinkin’ about them. Especially that little Angel. Mm, her pussy was so tight. I sure had fun tearin’ it up. Loved hearin’ her scream out,” Georgie says, moaning as if he’s getting off just by remembering.

This time, Torq is the one rushing him, except he doesn’t go at him with his fists like I did. No, he’s got a nine inch k
nife clenched in his fist and he drives it deep into his stomach.

Georgie screams, blood dripping from where the knife cut him. When he pulls it out, I get a better look at the position. I know enough about human anatomy to know he didn’t hit anything vital. It’ll hurt like a bitch, but he won’t die from it. At least, not anytime soon.

“All we’re gonna hear now are your screams, motherfucker.”

Shockingly, he’s not done yet. You’d think he’d know he’s a goner and would shut the fuck up. But no. Not Georgie. He’s a special kind of fucked up. He laughs, even though I know it’s gotta hurt to do so. “You mean you don’t want to know how I fucked your woman with my cock, and then fucked her with my gun?”

Torq roars again, driving the knife into him again, this time, a little further up. Still nothing vital, but he’s getting pretty fucking close. “Stop talking,” he growls.

Georgie coughs and more blood comes out of his mouth. “What about when I fucked her ass so hard it made her bleed?”

“Ahhh!” Torq yells, dropping the knife and punching Georgie over and over in the face until I swear he has no more teeth left in his head.

“Brother,” I step up to him, putting my hand on his shoulder. He’s breathing so hard and vibrating with rage, I can barely hold my hand there.

Turning to me, a little of the anger dies.

Georgie opens one of his eyes, the one not as swollen shut, and grins at me. “Look who’s joining the party. Didn’t want to be left out, huh? I know, you want me to tell you about how I was going to fuck your woman,” he says, but I don’t give him the opportunity to say anymore. I hit him once in the face, hard enough I think I heard his jaw pop. And then once in the stomach, right where his knife wounds are.

I’m raging mad, but seeing Torq and hearing the things Georgie says about Angel, he needs this more than me.

“He’s all yours, brother. Make him suffer, for all of us, but especially Angel.” With that, I step back and watch Torq as he drives his knife into Georgie, over and over, like he’s a pin cushion. Georgie doesn’t scream much anymore, but he does continue to laugh. Or at least I think it’s a laugh. It’s hard to tell because it’s so mangled.
