Billion Dollar Baby

Braden’s cock twitched inside of me. Seconds later, I felt his seed coating every inch of me. Slowly, he pulled out. Most of his cum followed suit, dripping out of me, dissolving into the water.

  I frowned.

He kissed my cheek. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you pregnant, even if it means fucking you a hundred times a day.” With that, he carried me out of the tub, already heading for the bedroom.

I could tell it was going to be a long night.

The best night of my life.

Eventually, our weekend ended and I was forced to say goodbye—at least for a little while. Braden and I had fucked like bunnies, practically doing it in every room of the house.

Now, we were both awkwardly sitting in his car parked idly in front of my house. I had my hand on the door, ready to open it, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do so just yet.

“You won’t up and disappear on me, will you?” I asked, looking at him.

“Of course not. Why would I do that?” He cupped my cheeks in his hands, pulling me into a sweet, loving kiss. “I’ll never leave you. What kind of father would I be to our unborn child?”

“We don’t even know if I’m pregnant yet.” I still found it hard to believe that we were going through with the pact. I was going to have a baby. We were going to have a baby. The thought made me want to fly.

“I’m sure we have a pretty good shot. I hear it only takes one, after all.”

We both laughed before he kissed me again.

“I’ll pick you up next weekend, then?”

I nodded, finally stepping out of the car. I thought about telling him how I felt, but I held back. I wasn’t ready to say those three words just yet. I didn’t want to rush things.

  He drove off, disappearing.

I stood there for a moment, already feeling incredibly lonely.

Once inside, I tried to go about my normal routine, but all I could think about was Braden.

As I was making myself a sandwich, my phone buzzed. I had ignored it all weekend and now, I was bombarded with a slew of unread text messages, most of them from my sister.

  I gave her a call.

“Where have you been?!” she bellowed through the line the second she picked up. I cringed, pulling the phone away from my ear. “Adele? Adele? Can you hear me?”

“No,” I said, my tone curt. “Because I think you just made me partially deaf.”

  “Sorry.”

“Anyway, sorry I didn’t text you back. I was… busy this weekend,” I said, hoping she would believe me without question. I didn’t want to explain to her that I had spent most of my weekend getting my brains screwed out by my ex-boyfriend.

  “Oh? Doing what?”

I bit my lip, trying to come up with a believable lie.

“Let me guess: you were with Braden. I knew there were sparks flying the second you two saw each other at the bar. I always knew you two would get back together.”

“No, I wasn’t with him,” I said, my words strained.

“Sure. And I’m the Queen of England. There’s no point lying Adele, you’ve always sucked at it.”

  “Shut up.”

“Hey, why don’t you come over?”

  “What? Like right now?”

  “Is that a problem?”

  “Well… no.”

“Then, come on. I made cheesecake.”

My stomach growled. Cheesecake was my favorite…

  “Okay.”

“Fantastic. See you soon. And, I’m going to want all the details. Got it?”

Before I could protest, she hung up.

I shook my head. Dahlia would never change.

After a short, ten-minute ride, I pulled into her driveway. Even though my baby sister worked as a school teacher, she was doing pretty well for herself. When her husband died five years after they got married, she was surprised to find he had a pretty large life insurance policy. He had never told her.

The thought warmed my heart. I was glad she had found someone that cared so much about her that he had done everything to support her, even after he was gone. He had a chronic illness that he kept to himself, all the way to the end. It spared Dahlia and her children the grief. He had been a good man.

Dahlia appeared at the door, waving her hand. Her two kids hugged her legs. Robert was four and her daughter had just turned two.

  “Hey kiddos,” I said.

Robert came and gave me an awkward embrace around my legs, rattling off the names of several Ninjago characters he was obsessed with. I nodded like I knew what I was talking about. Elise ducked behind her mother’s legs and peeked out, smiling at me shyly.

“Alright, Rob, Ellie — it’s time to finish your lunch out on the porch. Then Miss Ellie, it is time for a nap!”

  “No nap!” Ellie squealed.

I picked her up and put her on my hip, and she laughed at me as I carried her out to the porch to eat grilled cheese and carrots. After she was safely down for a nap and Rob was working on his next great Lego creation, Dahlia brewed two cups of coffee and got out the giant cheesecake she’d made from the fridge.

“Shhh,” she said, laughing. “They don’t know about this yet. I’m keeping it to myself until they figure out I have it.”

I laughed, trying to keep quiet. “Okay, we’ll see how long that lasts.”

“Yeah, we’d better make the most of the relative peace and quiet while we can.” Dahlia cut a large slice for me and one slightly bigger for herself. “Mama needs cake, so mama gets cake.” She gave me a wicked grin and put the cake in front of me.

I took one bite, letting it melt in my mouth. It was rich and dark and decadent, just like our auntie used to make. Somehow, Dahlia had gotten the recipe just right.

“How do you do it?” I asked.

“Hmm? The cake?” Dahlia looked up at me, fork tines pressed against her lips.

“No, silly. What’s it like to do this on your own? Managing the house. Taking care of the kids. Supporting yourself. It must be hard.”

“It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” she said, a glint in her eye as she looked over at the picture of her kids she kept on the kitchen island. Their dad was holding them in the picture, and it broke my heart just a little, even though Dahlia’s face remained steady. “They’re my motivation each and every day.”

I nodded, wondering what it would be like to raise kids of my own.

“Why do you ask?” She leaned forward, the corners of her lips twitching slightly like they always did whenever she came across a hot piece of gossip. “Are you thinking of starting a little family of your own?”

I bit the inside of my lip, wondering just how much I should tell my sister.

“You are, aren’t you?” She smirked. “Good for you. It’s about time. You aren’t getting any younger, you know?” She took another bite of cheesecake. “But, as much as I want to see you and Braden together, I still have to warn you.”

I cocked my head to the side in question. “Warn me? About what?”

“There’s still a lot of drama between him and his family. Might be more headache than it’s worth. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it, but you might want to give that some thought before you jump into a relationship with him.”

I thought it over for a moment. “Well, we don’t need to be in a relationship.”

Dahlia scrunched her eyebrows together. “You want to have a baby with him, but you don’t want to be in a relationship? How does that work?”

“Well, you know, we could make it a sort of a no strings attached arrangement.”

“Are you nuts? You know that never works.”

  I frowned.

“Are you two sleeping together already?”

I looked down and to the side, feeling my cheeks grow horribly hot.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” She sighed. “Look, Adele, you’re already sleeping with him. If I had to guess, there are already emotions involved. It’s not like you
can erase the past. Playing it off as ‘no strings attached’ will just end on an ugly note. Trust me. I’ve read enough romantic literature to know.”

I rolled my eyes. “Everything will be fine. You worry too much.”

“I’m just trying to watch out for you. I like Braden for you. But like him and you together, for real. None of this messing around.”

“I appreciate it, but I’m a big girl. Everything is going to be fine. After all, we’re already getting along pretty well without big define-the-relationship talks.” I grabbed my glass of wine. “So, what if this is the one impulsive decision I’ve ever made? I deserve to make at least one of them in my lifetime.”

Dahlia looked at me for a moment, studying my face. “You know I’ll support you no matter what you do—I’m your sister. But, I just want you to be careful about jumping into things too fast, okay? Braden has been known to break hearts.”

  “Well, he won’t break mine.”

“Just don’t let him string you along,” Dahlia said cautiously.

“He’s not. I promise. Why are you so invested in this, after all?” I raised an eyebrow.

“I might have… let him know you were in town in the first place,” she blurted.

I grinned. “Oh my God, you suck. And I love you. All at the same time.”

I punched her on the shoulder.

She didn’t even have a clue what we were planning.

  Chapter 9

  Braden

Adele had basically moved into my house at the ranch at this point.

It was the quickest decision I’d ever made — having a child with this woman. I had already drafted something with my lawyer, stating that I’d take full responsibility for Adele and the child. I intended to be with this woman for the rest of my life, but I needed to make sure she was provided for if she decided I wasn’t good enough for her.

I probably wasn’t, especially with the things simmering below the surface — things I was keeping from her.

But in a way, it felt like this decision wasn’t rash. After all, we’d both been thinking about it for the better part of a decade, stuck on promises we had made all those years ago.

And we still couldn’t get the insatiable lust out of our systems. Every time we saw each other, it was like a fire would ignite, forcing us into each other’s arms. Not that I was complaining.

I couldn’t help it. Every time I saw her, I fell for her all over again.

  Today was no different.

I already had Adele pinned under my body. “How do you like the fur rug?” I whispered, nipping at her neck.

“Best thing I’ve ever bought,” she answered, her legs wrapping around my torso. “How about we put it to good use?”

I smirked, admiring her face for a moment. The fireplace crackled with a fresh log, causing the embers to burn hotter than ever. The light played off Adele’s soft features, making her look like an angel. “Mmm, I’d like that, but you know, I haven’t bent you over the coffee table yet. I need an excuse to get a new one.”

“Oh? You think we’d break it?”

  “I know we would.”

“Is that a challenge?” she asked, her eyes already blazing with naughty intentions.

  “Maybe.”

“Well, what are you waiting for?”

I smirked, my cock already twitching in anticipation. I rolled off her, plopping down on the fur rug. It felt good against my thighs, especially as I watched Adele roll onto her hands and knees, seductively crawling toward the coffee table.

She purposely swayed her hips, teasing me with her body.

God, she was such a little vixen.

I could barely control myself, my hormones surging inside of me. She instilled such carnal desire within me, turning me into a sex-crazed animal.

She reached the table and glanced over her shoulder. Our eyes locked.

In an instant, I pounced on her.

She gasped as I bent her over the table. Her tits collided with the cool surface, causing her to shiver. Before she could compose herself, I rammed into her wet folds. She clawed at the wood, trying to anchor herself as I pounded into her, harder and harder.

My hand wrapped around her long, dark hair, causing her back to arch. The curve of her spine alone was nearly enough to drive me over the edge. A part of me was having a hard time believing how inexplicably beautiful this woman really was. She was a goddess and she was mine.

I fucked her harder, my balls slapping into her pussy.

She moaned loudly, panting for breath.

I pulled on her hair once more, lifting her upper body off the table so my other hand could grab her breast. My fingers kneaded her flesh before grabbing her nipple, flicking it back and forth until she was howling with ecstasy.

Her pussy tightened around my cock, making it easy for me to lose myself in the moment. I couldn’t think of anything else. All that mattered was making her mine. Every. Last. Inch. Of. her.

I picked up the tempo, going faster than I ever had before.

The coffee table started to groan in protest.

I ignored it, giving her everything I had.

Soon, it was too much for her to handle. She screamed my name at the top of her lungs, her body tensing with the impending orgasm.

The feeling of her velvety insides quivering around me sent me over the edge. I rammed into her one more time, spewing my load inside of her just as the coffee table gave in, collapsing underneath us.

We fell in a heap, giddy laughter escaping our lips. I pulled her on top of me to save her from splinters. I held her close and looked into her gorgeous eyes; I felt like I was the luckiest man in the world.

Eventually, I regained my strength and carried her back to the fireplace, laying her down on the rug. I cuddled up next to her, playing with her hair as I looked into the flames.

“Do you ever think of the baby?” she asked me, her voice full of excitement.

“Of course,” I answered, gently kissing her shoulder. “All the time.”

“Have you thought about any names yet?”

  “Hmm?” I murmured. “Names?”

  “Yeah.”

“Sometimes. I think if it’s a girl I’d want to name her Brooke.”

  “Why’s that?”

“Do you remember our first date?” I wrapped my arm around her waist, pulling her a little closer.

“How could I forget?” she asked with a bright smile on her face. “You took me down to Ely’s Brook.” It took her a moment. “Oh.” A soft shade of red spread across the tops of her cheeks. It was barely visible on her skin, but it was there. And utterly beautiful. “That’s really romantic.”

I chuckled. “I thought you might like it. What about you? Have you thought of any names?”

“Well, it’s not nearly as thoughtful as Brooke.”

“That’s okay. I want to hear it anyway.”

“Well, if we have a little boy—which I hope we do—I want to name him Ashton.”

  “Why’s that?”

“I don’t know. I’ve just always really liked that name.”

“It’s sophisticated. A lot better than Braden.”

  “Hey, I like your name.”

I scoffed. “Braden is such an overdone name. It used to be original. But it ain’t anymore.”

She laughed. “I guess you have a point.” She smiled. “But it is handsome as all hell.”

“Hey, you were supposed to make me feel better, not confirm my doubts.”

She turned and took my face in her hands. She looked deep into my eyes, almost as if searching for something. Her lips parted like she was about to say something, but just before she could, my phone rang.

I ignored it. Whoever it was, they could wait.

“Aren’t you going to answer that? What if it’s the fire station?” Adele pointed out with a hand on my chest. I was tempted to move that hand elsewhere, but she had a point.

I sighed and eased myself out of her embrace. Buck naked, I crossed the ro
om and answered my phone without even looking at the Caller ID.

  “Hello?”

“Hello, Mr. Ennis?” The voice on the other end of the line was deep and gravelly.

“Yes?” I furrowed my brow in confusion.

“This is Mr. Kilroy, your grandfather’s attorney. He wanted me to have a few words with you. Do you have a moment?”

I glanced at Adele, still laying by the fireplace. I hesitated for a moment before I nodded my head, even though he couldn’t see what I was doing. It took me a second to realize.

“Yes,” I finally answered. More of this money bullshit. I guess I’d have to deal with it sooner or later.

“Good. Your grandfather, as you know, is a very wealthy man. He wants his lineage to continue and since you are his only grandson, he’s depending on you to father an heir.”

“He’s made me aware of that. Recently, in fact. What’s your point?”

“Right. Your grandfather, however, is adding an additional clause. He wants you to prove paternity before you come into your inheritance. As you know, you’ll receive two million as soon as the baby is born and once Mr. Ennis is no longer with us, you’ll come into the rest of his estate. You’ll be the sole heir. Should he happen to pass away before you father a child, his estate will be donated to your second cousins, Jamie and Jessica.”

I ground my teeth together. I had always resented my grandfather for pushing the need for an heir. It was my life. I should be the one deciding when I wanted a child. Not him.

  “Is that clear?”

I sighed. “He’s already made the changes?”

“I’m afraid so. The money will only be supplied with a valid DNA test.”

“I can’t believe he would do this. More and more stipulations. Holding this over my head.” I got up, a surge of rage rushing through my veins. It pissed me off to no end that he didn’t trust me. Did he really think I would try to trick him? Who did he think I was?

“I’m sorry, but I’m simply relaying this information. Do you have any questions for me?”

  “No,” I spat.

“Well then, I hope you have a good day. If you need any more information, feel free to call me during normal business hours. I’d be happy to clear up any discrepancies.” The man was starting to sound like a robot.
