"Briefcase!" the voice was shrill and ecstatic. "Take the briefcase!"
Without questioning or thinking, Gregory obeyed. He followed the instructions of the voice, and took the briefcase to the river banks, where he tossed it into the churning water, and it was lost in the undulating waves, swallowed up and vanished in the darkness.

The news headlines the next day were dominated by the shocking murder of the eminent scientist, Dr. Rajan Gopal, who had been bludgeoned to death in the parking lot of the very hotel where he was due to deliver his findings on methods to cure drug addition. According to reports, Dr. Gopal had arrived earlier than scheduled, and was hoping to meet in private with various companies interested in proceeding with developing early human clinical trials. Tragically, he had been viciously attacked and murdered. The motive was unclear, but it appeared to be related to his research. His findings, which he had planned to present at the conference, were missing. Police were investigating further.
