Nix couldn’t help but kiss the side of her jaw, and she only settled herself comfortably against him. “Nah. Lying like this is good, too.”
“Agreed,” Eli supplied.
Sometimes, Nix couldn’t help think Georgina and Maddy somehow guided him here, right into Eli and Jen’s arms. He’d been traveling alone for so long and passing through dark roads so often he’d gotten himself foolishly lost, but vengeance couldn’t sustain a man. Certainly it was a piss-poor substitute for living.
“I wouldn’t trade this for anything else in the world,” Nix said to himself, but he had a feeling Eli and Jen had been listening and wore secret smiles on their faces.
