“I tell you its the best thing that ever happened to me and Kellie. It feels so good coming home to someone instead of an empty house. What does she think about it?” Mark asked, nodding his head towards Jamie.

“She loves the idea but she doesn't want to give up the trailer. I can't say that I blame her but even if the killer is caught Mark she's going to be leery of the woods. She use to sit out there on the deck and have a few drinks without even thinking about the dangers of someone lurking around in the woods behind her house and now that could be where the killer is hiding out. Could you imagine thinking about that as you are having a drink? Or people like you who don't listen to the news if she was out there right now? I don't know what I would do if anything happened to her.” Tom whispered, knowing his life would go to hell. Besides working Jamie was the most important thing in his life.

“Just be glad that we are here right now. We were trying to convince Jamie to stay at the trailer tonight. I'm glad that the cops came by when they did. I don't know if any of us would get any sleep tonight.” Mark muttered.

“I'm going to go back to bed. You want to leave the door open?” Tom asked him, knowing that he needed to lay down even if it meant only getting a few minutes of rest.

“Yeah, if you don't mind.” Mark told him. He didn't want to tell Tom he was scared knowing that they were just a few feet away from each other.

“I understand.” Tom gave him a quick hug and they went back to their beds. Tom could hear Mark telling Kellie to slide over so that he could get into bed. A small smile came across Tom's face as he shook his head.

“Tom.” Jamie whispered, feeling him getting back into bed.

“I'm here.” He whispered back to her. Putting his arm around her and feeling her press her head against his chest again.

“Where did you go?” She asked him, knowing that he was just getting back into bed. She didn't hear the toilet flush so she knew he wasn't in the bathroom.

“Mark couldn't sleep. We were talking for a few minutes. I promise I didn't leave the room. We sat down and talked at the door.” He assured her that everything was fine for the moment as he held her tightly to him.

“Okay.” She sighed and he heard her breathing heavily again. Knowing she was well on her way to going back to sleep.

Tom watched the news over and over again through out the night. Nothing had changed, there was no new information on what was going on. When he saw the clock and saw that it was six in the morning he got up and began making coffee. He couldn't sleep and knew that it was a failed attempt as he got a paper cup from off the mini fridge that was beside the coffee pot.

“Something smells good.” Jamie moaned and smelled the strong scent of coffee brewing in the room.

“Yes. Its the breakfast of champions. You want some?” Tom chuckled, looking over his shoulder and seeing her sit up in bed. The sheet sliding down her tits and resting at her hips.

Tom laughed as he went to the door that connected the rooms and closed it. Knowing that if anything was going to happen he would hear it.

“Oh, I didn't realize that you left the door open all night.” She looked at him and blushed. At any moment Mark could have walked through the door and she would have been exposed.

“You're fine.” He laughed at her as he watched her get some clothes out of the duffel bag and head towards the bathroom.

“I'm going to take a shower and then I was thinking about going out to eat. I'm starving.” She told him, crinkling her nose as the television screen when she saw that it was back on the news.

“Hey, I'm addicted now. I need to know, its kind of like an obsession I guess you would say.” Tom shrugged his shoulders at her as she turned away from the television and

Tom went back to the door as soon as she was in the bathroom and opened it. Peeking his head into the room to see if Mark and Kellie were awake yet.

“Good morning.” Mark told him, making his own coffee.

“Morning, I'm going to get the newspaper from the front desk. You mind keeping an eye on Jamie until I get back?” Tom asked him, he knew that if Jamie found out that he had left her in the room by herself to get a newspaper that she would freak out on him when he got back to the room.

“That's fine. Its about time I wake Kellie up. We have to get into the shower too. I was thinking about driving by Randolph road and seeing if there's anything there.” Mark told him, he had wondered if they would find anything that the police might have over looked the night before. Thinking that maybe the cops would do more searching throughout the day.

“We could always drive by. If there are cops there I wouldn't mess around with it. They might be looking all through the woods today. Its suppose to be sunny and clear skies.” Tom remembered what the weather man had said earlier.

“Well hurry it up, I'm not sure how long Jamie stays in the shower. I don't want the one getting into trouble.” Mark told him seriously, not a hint of a smile on his face.

“I'll be really quick.” Tom told him, heading to the front door and opening it. The sun hitting him in the face as he left the room. Mark watched as he left the room and shook his head. He knew that they shouldn't go anywhere by themselves.

Fifteen minutes later when Tom still wasn't back yet he was getting worried when he heard the shower turn off.

“Tom!” Jamie hollered out. She thought it was too quiet in the room. She didn't hear him moving around.

“He's not here.” Mark cleared his throat before he answered her, shaking his head wondering where the hell he was himself. It only took a few minutes to get the paper considering that they were right next door the front desk.

“What?” She asked him, wrapping a towel around herself and coming out of the bathroom.

“He went to get the newspaper and he hasn't come back yet.” Mark sighed heavily. He wasn't going to stay behind anymore if Tom was going to do this.

Jamie gave him a dirty look and shook her head as she quickly made her way to the door to go outside.

Opening the door she saw that Tom was standing in front of the car. His hands on his hips and shaking his head.

“Where the hell have you been?” She asked him in a shrill voice, she made him jump as he turned around to face her.

“Go inside and get dressed. I'll be in.” He looked at her and saw her with a towel around her head and one wrapped around her body.

“Fine.” She glared at him and turned to go back into the room.

Tom heard her slam the door behind her knowing that she was mad at him. He blocked the front of the car so that she couldn't see that something was the matter.

Tom walked to the windshield of his car and took something off of it. Stuck between the windshield wiper and the windshield was a picture. As he looked at it closer he saw that it was a picture of Alice. His heart almost stopped when he saw her laying in the ditch, her clothes bloody, her hair stained with blood. Alicia's eyes were wide open almost as if she was pleading with him, wondering where he was as she was being attacked.

“What the hell.” He whispered to himself, shaking his head. He had to find a way to keep it from Jamie. He just didn't know how he was going to.

Looking up and down the sidewalk to each room and looking around the parking lot to see if someone was watching him he brought the picture inside. He knew that he wouldn't be able to keep it from her, he knew that it wasn't right if she found out she would be more pissed at him then she was already.

“Jamie go wake up Kellie.” He told her as he opened the door and closed it behind him. Seeing that she was dressed.

Jamie had a pair of short shorts on and a pink tank top. Her hair up in a bun wearing a pink hat. He thought she looked cute the way she was but he didn't feel like smiling.

“Why?” Jamie knew something was the matter when he wouldn't look at her.

“Just go get her and Mark too.” Tom told her, finally looking up at her. She could see that he meant business. Something was worrying him and she wasn't sure she
wanted to know what it was.

Jamie nodded her head and went to the open door. She went into Kellie's room and saw that she was just waking up.

“Tom wants you guys in our room. He won't say why.” Jamie told them in a rushed voice. Quickly going back to her room and sitting down on the bed.

Tom made two cups of coffee and handed her one with cream and sugar in it already. She took a sip and put it on the stand beside her.

“Tom what is going on?” Jamie asked him, wanting him to tell her. She knew that whatever it was was really important.

“I want to wait until Mark and Kellie get in here. I don't want to repeat what I have to say.” Tom gave her a sad look. Standing by the table against the wall beside the mirror.

Tom looked at himself in the mirror and saw that his face was pale. Looking at Jamie and seeing that she was staring at him he saw the look of worry on her face. Thinking that she had every right to be worried. He was worried too.

Mark and Kellie came into the room with their own cups of coffee. Looking at him as they sat down at the round table they sat at the night before.

“What's going on? And what the hell took you so long to go get the paper that you don't even have?” Mark glared at him, he almost got in trouble with Jamie because of him.

“I was going to get the paper. That was the intention. Well I ended up finding this instead.” Tom held the picture in the air.

Jamie got off the bed and went over to him, taking the picture out of his hand since Kellie and Mark weren't making any move to do so.

Jamie covered her mouth when she saw what it was. Handing it over to Mark so that they could see what Tom was talking about.

“Where did you find it?” Jamie whispered to him. Tears starting to well up in her eyes.

“On the windshield.” Tom told her honestly.

“We need to go to the police this has to be a sign.” Mark shook his head. Wondering who would want to do something like that to them. He wasn't dumb he knew it was the killer but why would the killer be after them.

“Its a really good thing that we left the trailer last night.” Tom pointed out to them. He didn't think it was a wise idea to go back there to get Jamie's car.

“Yeah.” Jamie shook her head again and sat on the edge of the bed.

“We need to call the police about this. This is evidence that someone is coming after us. Who they want I don't know.” Kellie looked at the three of them.

“Why would someone want to kill us though?” Jamie asked as she began crying.

Tom went over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He didn't know what to say to her as he kissed her forehead.

“I don't know, there has to be a connection somewhere.” Tom shook his head, wishing he had the answer to comfort her.

“Look, there's a message on the back of the picture. Maybe if we can give this to the police they can find out whose handwriting it is. Or maybe find some prints?” Kellie turned the picture over because she was tired of seeing Alice's dead eyes staring up at her accusingly. As if it was her fault that she was dead.

“Its worth a try.” Tom muttered, moving away from Jamie for a second so that he could grab his phone out of his jean shorts.

“There's a list.” Kellie read it out loud to them.

“A list? What kind of list?” Tom grunted, shaking his head as he dialed the police. He told them what was going on and then hung the phone up.

“Someone is suppose to be coming in a few minutes. Are we ready for this?” Tom looked at the three of them.

“We have no choice but to be ready.” Jamie shrugged her shoulders. Getting irritated that the news was still on.

She got off the bed and shut the television off, hitting the power button on the screen harder then what she had to.

“I'm sorry, we were going to see it sooner or later and well since I was headed out for the paper and saw it. I wonder if they tampered with my car.” Tom muttered.

“Lets just stay in here until the police get here.” Jamie suggested to him seeing that he was heading for the door.

“She's right. We don't need anything happening to you.” Mark told him, looking Tom in the eye, making him stop in his tracks.

Tom nodded his head and looked back at Jamie who was really scared. Needing him at the moment. He could check his car over before they left for the day.

Tom went back and sat with her. Taking her hand in his and holding onto it tightly.

“What are we going to do? How do they know that we were here? Obviously the killer had to have followed us last night.” Jamie had so many questions that didn't have any answers but she couldn't keep them inside her mind.

“I wish I could answer one of those questions.” Tom sighed, putting his arm around her and holding her closer to him.

“Is there anything that stands out when you think about Alice? You said that you had been rooming with her on that Boston trip.” Kellie remembered her talking about it the night before.

“Chad Porter.” Jamie said quickly, not really thinking she had said the name out loud until she saw Tom looking at her intently.

“What about him?” He asked, urging her to continue.

“She shot him down. He asked her out and he was kind of a geek. She embarrassed him front of all her friends. I don't know if its a connection or not.” Jamie shrugged her shoulders. She wouldn't think that someone would carry a grudge like that for so long.

“There are a lot of weird people in this world Jamie. Something to think about. Could you look him up on the computer?” Tom asked her, looking at her laptop that was still on the table against the wall.

“I could try, the police might be able to find him before I could though.” Jamie told him just as there was a knock at the door.

Mark opened the door since he was closest one to it. Seeing that it was the two police officers from the night before. They both looked like they didn't get any sleep the night before and Mark was sure that they hadn't taken a break.

“Fancy meeting you guys again.” Charles told them walking through the door with Davidson right on his heels.

“Yes, well its strange seeing the two of you again too.” Tom glared at him, wondering why they were the two who had come to the hotel.

“We were on our way back to the police barracks and got a call to come here.” Charles shrugged his shoulders.

Kellie got up from the chair and handed the picture over to them. Charles looked down at the picture and his eyes widened. He didn't say anything as he handed the picture to Davidson.

“You shouldn't have taken it off your windshield.” Charles shook his head. Wishing that when someone thought something was the matter that they would just call the cops before tampering with any kind of evidence.

“Well I didn't know what it was to begin with. I wasn't thinking about leaving it there. I wanted to know what it was.” Tom rolled his eyes at him. Getting irritated with the police officer.

“Its fine, I am sure that if there are any other fingerprints besides yours on here we will find them.” Davidson put his hand on Charles shoulder letting him know to back off without having to say anything verbally in front of them.

“Were you friends with the victim?” Charles began asking questions as he pulled out a note pad getting ready to take notes.

“Not really. The only time I spent with her was on a Senior trip.” Jamie explained the same thing to the police that she had explained to her friends and then the meeting when she went to get food. That was the only time she had contact with her.

Charles wrote down everything she said, looking up at her when she paused for a moment. Thinking she had more to say.

“If you know anything else no matter how small it is now is the time to say something.” Davidson looked at her, talking to her gently.

“Chad Porter. She had a problem with him on the trip. Her friends all laughed at him and he looked quite upset. He didn't make any threats towards her but he didn't look very happy.” She point
ed out to them.

“We will look him up and see if we can't contact him.” Charles nodded his head, a smile on his face now that they had a name. Hoping that they got lucky.

“This is nothing to smile about.” Jamie glared at him.

“I'm not smiling at the situation I'm smiling hoping that we have someone of interest. This is the only name we have on the list and as far fetched as it may seem maybe talking to him he could give us some more information about her.” Charles explained to her, not meaning any disrespect.

  “Oh.” Jamie lowered her voice.

“You guys stay together. I don't think that the killer will strike if its just one of them. One against four I am sure he would lose.” Davidson warned them.

“You're not even going to give us any kind of protection?” Jamie jumped up off the bed and was ready to start screaming.

Tom took her by the hand quickly and she landed hard on his lap. He put his arms around her knowing that she was really upset with them.

“The best we can do is have someone come out and patrol around here. To have a cop sitting outside the doors day and night we can't do. We have a lot of field work to look for something, anything that might bring us to the killer.” Davidson explained to her as calmly as he could. Seeing and understanding why she was so upset.

“Right if I'm the next one dead you are going to wish that you paid closer attention.” She muttered, shaking her head.

“I don't think-” Charles began talking to her.

“I am twenty-two and had been in touch with Alice through school, at the food store. And now there's a picture found of her on my boyfriends windshield. You mean to tell me that I'm not in any danger?” She snapped at him.

“Anyone else the age of twenty-two here?” Charles looked at the group.

The three of them shook their heads. Tom was a few years older then she was and Mark was heading thirty soon. Kellie was twenty-nine.

“We will keep it written down.” Davidson told her as quickly as he could, hoping that Charles didn't say anything else that sounded stupid. Wondering how he got paired up with Charles to begin with. They were new to each other and Davidson didn't like him already.
